Why hasn't there been a decent controller released for smartphones yet? It seems like even the most expensive ones you can buy feels and plays like an old madcatz controller.

And don't start with this "no gaems" bullshit. It has a ton of emulator support as well as official game ports like TWEWY, Portal, Hotline Miami, etc. There's a lot of potential for making android games that function with both a physical controller and the touch screen of the device too.

Because the Switch is a thing.

But user, they did. Its just its only for one model.

Because android has a fuck ton of overhead and bluetooth has inconsistent latency.

Because mobile girl gamer xd's arent a real thing you communist faggot kill yourself

Because the game library is definitely poorer, and for the space you're dragging around a controller you could take a proper gaming handheld. That setup looks like something you'd fly a drone with.

...

There is one
Its 80 eurobucks and it has remained for that price for over 6 years even after the patent was bought by Samsung.

Try out this bad boy.
Cost me 10 bucks including shipping.
Tiny, responsive, no compatibility issues with anything.
I play SNES, NES, GBA, SEGA, MAME etc. at work. I hide my phone under my work computer monitor and nobody notices this tiny controller.
Feels good man.

Confirmed manlet.

That looks like it produces lots of chinese plastic clicks and creaks that you think nobody else can hear but they totally can, and you just haven't been called into HR yet because he's busy with other shit.

Fine, carry a big MadCatz controller around with you like a real autist. I mean alpha.

It was really cheap so if it turned out to be shitty I didn't care too much. It's a surprisingly decent quality little thing with excellent battery life.
No creaks and the clicks are no worse than on a typical controller. Also the office is loud and busy so nobody would hear that anyway.

Shut up longfag, manlet uprising soon

Seems decent

Well when you're so low the only way you can go is up.

Someone please make this then give me one.

My dream is getting a THICC 7000mAh battery for my phone and one of those controllers that snap onto the screen and turn your phone into a DS and have their own built in battery. I could emulate mega drive games for a day on a single charge instead of going from 100 to 20% battery after 1 hour of streets of rage.
Mobile device manufacturers fail to understand nobody gives a shit if a mobile device is big if it's because the battery is big. This is mainly because their consumer base consists of tight jeans wearing manlets.

Why can't there be one that's flat/slick and doubles as a foldable cover to the phone? I'd fucking hate having to carry my phone plus one more thing

Turn on the power saving settings you dumbo, it doesn't hurt emulators of old consoles.
Also, turn down your lighting to about 25% or 20% unless you are outdoors, will be weird at first but you get used to it instantly.

There's already plenty of those.

This already exists

1 mobile games are shit aiming for non gamers

2 no self respecting gamer would touch mobile games

If you have to kill read some Foreign Affairs or something.

Pics or it didn't happen.

If you really have to kill someone, just don't hesitate, Foreign Affairs will not solve your problem.

...

android mobiles are the best portable emulation devices. The only short coming is the lack of a controller.

what the fuck am I supposed to search?
"stretchy mobile controller"?

its spelled stretchable you nog

...

...

...

no gaems

Why would you want to use shitty inaccurate emulators?

actual games on mobile isn't possible
Even fucking minecraft had to do in game currency shit to survive.
you do the math

You mean to make money.
All mobile games are made by kikes who won't be satisfied until they are pinching every single penny.

I want underage children playing on Nvidia spin off of a Leapfrog toy with their baby hands to leave.

...

Meh portable gaming is shit anyway IMO but if you have to carry a laptop

I was runnning, never type while exercising. Came out funny though.

Aren't games made to make money?

i want to fug leanne

If you're a kike maybe

craptops are neither portable nor good for general gaming.

Moto pad is better

Shiggy

The vast majority of Android games are designed around a touch screen. Most of them don't even have controller support. The only thing controllers are good for in Android is emulation.

Look at how hard Nvidia Shield products failed. Ouya too. They never sold well because they ran Android and Android games are touch screen games. The market for people buying emulators to play on those devices isn't large enough to warrant manufacturing quality controllers. Both products tried to have controller specific games, but people didn't care. Nvidia tried to shoehorn streaming games in, Ouya shoehorned shitty indie games. Neither worked.

Once Nvidia dropped Android and got their hardware into a device with software not targeted toward touch screen, it sells extremely well (Switch).

Android controllers will never be more than a niche thing, because the software isn't there for controller based games. And it never will be, because who would design a mobile game built around a controller when 99.9% of Android devices don't have a controller? You have a lot more potential customers and players if you target the largest install base, which is by far Android games with touch screen and no controller.

No retard.
They literally couldn't pay the hosting fee for the application without doing ingame shit.
As in
FUCKING MINEYCRAFTA
COULDN'T SELL ENOUGH ON MOBILE
TO BE VIABLE

What hosting fee?

I have pretty big hands user, and the Joy-Cons feel just fine. Have you ever even held one for yourself or are you just parroting what others have said already?
If you're gonna shit on the switch you can shit on no gaems, how bad the specs are, how it runs better handheld, etc etc. The controllers aren't the problem, though I do wish they had just a regular D-pad..

Google charges you to host if you exceed a certain amount of sales/downloads
And yes, even if it's exclusively people downloading a game they already paid for they still charge the person who uploaded it. Which is why everyone and their mother hosts APKs off the play store and why google updated android to prevent people from trying to install from other sources.

It absolutely doesn't.
Do you have a single fact to back any of the shit you're spewing?

Yes.
Fucking check the terms and conditions if you have ever put out software that has exceeded 100k downloads.

Oh fuck, i'm working on a small alarm clock app.

Get your own website or find another host for it.

play.google.com/about/developer-distribution-agreement.html
play.google.com/about/play-terms.html
Where does it say anything you claim?

He is bullshitting. Playstore works like any other store, taking a cut of the earnings which means at a minimum you need ads on your app for it to be free.

How about these?

samsung s3, good phone except for shitty thermals due to fully plastic body (plastic is a terrible thermal conductor and won't dissipate heat, it comes out the screen instead).
pegasusqplus governor
cpu underclocked to 1300mhz because the 1400mhz step uses too many volts
cpu UV -75 to -125mv depending on freq
GPU underclocked by 1 step for better idle, min freq 54mhz max freq 440mhz (stock is 160mhz min 533mhz max)
-100 to -125mv UV on gpu depending on freq.
ROW i/o scheduler for internal memory, noop for SD.
zram off because it's shit
LMK half as aggressive as stock because otherwise it unloads shit while only on half ram usage, which it's always at because android is bloated trash.
no touchboost
no early suspend
notification led off (it's an useless battery eating cost adding pile of garbage)
hardware buttons never light up
vibration on touch such as when typing disabled
dark theme on everything because it's better and the screen is AMOLED
brightness indoors normally on 20% (samsung's minimum allowed, otherwise the screen artifacts) but on the rare occasion I'm in the sun I just max it.
I did what I could m8.

Are there any mobileshit games nowadays that are actually games designed with heart rather than just obfuscated gambling?

The mobile market consists of bigger retards than consoletards and steamfags combined, and they're much more acceptive to getting assfucked by companies. The closest to that you can get is 20$ AAA ripoffs with pay to win microtransactions.

Because Android is fucking shit, the OS is absolute hot-garbage.

Mobile Chipsets aren't bad at all, and I'm actually quite happy that the Switch is doing so well, mainly because it might motivate manufactures and developers to move away from the android platform, and start focusing on a more consistent gaming experience.

Android is quite literally the bottleneck in a lot of these situations.

There are many nice games, and a few excellent ones. Video related, one of my favorites. There are many recommendations in the wiki, go check it. vsrecommendedgames.wikia.com/wiki/Android

inb4 morons going "it's taken over by leddit"

Best Android phone I ever used for vidya was the Xperia Play. It had it's own buttons, and was pretty much the PSP Go as a phone. It was fucking great for emulation, but unless you like being stuck on Android Gingerbread it's pretty useless.

Razer made a tablet with a similar idea. It had a controller backplate that you pushed the tablet into.

You didn't pay someone to "host" your app on the Play Store, did you user?

Nobody who cares about video games and wants to make a good one would focus on mobile except absolute retards who aren't capable of actually executing the idea anyway.

Woah hey, this game looks too cheesy to be honest. Like something you would see on a Nickelodeon ad.

No retard, the only app I've developed is a free APK file floating around

smartphones don't deserve any attention.
sage dubs

I still want this ported to PC damn it! no input laggass USB/Bluetooth controller will fix touchpad controls.

Moga controllers work pretty well user. I just got this Hero and it's pretty good

...

I have something like that. Same brand. I vaguely recall either the d-pad or the joystick having some lag, but only on certain emulators. I haven't used it in ages since I softmodded my 3DS to use emulators.

Softmodding a 3DS or a Vita for emulators is a far better solution IMO. A bluetooth android controller (with grips) often takes up a whole separate pants pocket and adds an extra point of failure (dead battery in controller) whereas with a softmodded 3DS or Vita you're only using one pocket and don't have to worry about your controller method having a dead battery.

Modded portable consoles are a great solution for emulation, but that still won't let you play some of the cooler android titles like the GTA trilogy, KotOR, Jade Empire, and the few good droid games. I find myself playing android ports more than I do emulation.

Honestly it should be law that something can't be sold unless its battery lasts 5 days worst case scenario

Then companies would rig the phone to consume jack shit of power when it was being tested. Like volkswagon did with the diesel cars.

:^)

this thing is cheap as dirt and doubles as a controller that you can use with your computer via USB
I played through all of NieR Automata with it.

Now this is interesting
An actual, possible portable 'console' of sorts can be possible with Emulation
But then you could just get a switch and have a nice-size screen

Yeah, and have shit hardware with undeveloped emulation that you can't keep in your pocket.

All of those look like abominations in every way

You could get any 7" tablet and have a switch-sized screen. Or get a 10" tablet and have a fucking massive screen and a battery that lasts for months on standby or an entire day playing games.

Wew lad, you're a spicy kind of retard arent you?
The only things phones are good for emulating are old handhelds, especially the GBA as the touch-screen + feedback is the closest thing to original feel you can get with emulation

Is it even possible?

...

I have a 10" samsung I got for $200 (new), one of the budget models with a weaker processor, and it does SNES/Genesis solidly but can't into N64.

Fucking single core budget chink phones can play SNES and Genesis games nowadays.

Back to Holla Forums stallmanite

Everything about android gaming is cheap. It's soulless. Why would anyone be excited to create a decent add on for it. Andoid phones are like globalist weimerica capitalism. It's a shitshow any no one care about the craft as long as they're still getting paid. Dedicated handhelds, the psp, the gameboy, they're more like national socialism. The men crafting games for those systems actually care about the product and see the beauty of their creations as extensions of themselves.

That fucking mess in OP's pic is 'Filthy Casual' made manifest.

Broken in 5 minutes.

enjoy your no games friendo

I can play Gamecube on my phone.

Too bad samsungs design is fucking terrible are there any phones that arent terribly designed aside from PDAs?

the difference is, i can waste $300 on the switch or i can pay $100 for a chinese android that can probably run twice as fast as a switch + i can hook up a better controller to it

I'm hoping the Librem 5 will finally make mobile computing a little less shit. They recently got 100% funded

Every Android phone I've seen in person always seemed cheap. The only modern phone I've had that I can say was well designed was the Blackberry Passport, and RIM ditched it and BB10 for Android.

Nice to see another company take a crack at convergence

The only reason for the retarded dpad is so it can double as the face buttons when using the controller in single-joycon mode in tandem with the stick, right?

As someone who did buy a cheap ching-chong tablet, I say that's a great idea - with some caveats. So, learn from my mistakes:

This already exists and it's fucking shit. The only way a phone controller wouldn't suck is if it attaches to one specific model of phone, which wouldn't happen.

At this point you might as well just get a controller clip, that thing is hardly portable.

You're picky, but if you have the cash, I know just the right thing: Motorola's Moto Gamepad, which is specific for the Moto Z line. It actually has a physical connector, so it's likely to perform better than wireless ones.

BAAAAAAAAAAH

Now i lost al my lasl intrests in buying it.

If you're paying over 200 for it it isn't worth it
also
That seems like a really dumb idea tbh fam

A few reasons.

1. Other than young teenagers and kids, nobody really wants to play video games on their phones. That's probably due to the fact that playing a "real" video game is a very focused activity, and playing it on a phone would imply that you're out in public which isn't a place to be immersed in a game. That, and most people are using their phones constantly for communicating with friends. People can't text and snapchat their friends while they're playing a game on the same device. Also most people I know bitch constantly about the battery life of their phones because they use them so much so that's another thing is that gaming on android is going to waste their precious battery's life.

2. Because of the marginal differences between each phone (size and shape), manufacturers have to come up with a design that will fit the most amount of phones as possible without losing functionality or comfortability. This is why you'll almost never find a bluetooth controller that is designed for your phone. Bluetooth controllers are already hard to sell (see reasons 1 & 3) so they have to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

3. The touch screen is considered the primary control scheme for nearly every android game. There's no need for the average person to shell out $30-$60 on a controller when they can just use the touch screen (which a lot of android games are designed around anyway).

4. Games take up space. Most people are going to be filling up their phones with pictures and videos and shit and would rather not be bothered by games taking up all their storage.

Technically, you can use the joycons on your android phone. You can use ANY first-party console controllers like the Dualshock 4, the Switch Pro Controller, and the Xbox One controller as long as it has bluetooth. The problem, however, is that they seem to be programmed to lag severely if they're not played on the console they were made for. I've heard of a couple workarounds: plugging the controller into your phone via USB seems to solve the bluetooth lag problem, or you can buy a special bluetooth adapter for your phone that fixes the bluetooth lag. I haven't tried any of those methods, but if you can get it to work it would definitely be your best bet if you want a comfy gaming experience on your phone.

Picture related is a Switch grip that Nyko put out recently. The clip on the top of the controller is designed for your phone to sit in while you use the Nintendo Online services. But if you buy an adapter and the joycons to sync to your phone it would essentially be just as good as those other bluetooth controllers, except the build quality will be noticeably better.

The fuck is that?

Just another normalfag social media thing

I figured that considering the context, but what is it? Why do the normalfags like it?

Because other normalfags use it? thats all the reason they need, right?

I suppose.

Anybody tried JXD? Their specs look a bit weaker than flagships from other brands, but having integrated controls would be cool if the build quality is up to snuff.

Daily reminder that if you own a cellphone for any other reason besides work, Holla Forums hobbies, or emergencies, you are a normalnigger.

You're mostly right user.

I like to play games on my phone. I usually just play puzzle games on the way in to work. The way I see it, controllers for smartphones will never be successful because no developer worth the time of day will ever prioritise development for a physical controller first when the absolute majority of their sales or potential sales will come from people without the controller, meaning that physical control options will always be a tacked on afterthought and not worth it at all; and that carrying around a bulky control panel completely ruins the point of a phone. Nobody wants to carry around a weirdly shaped plastic piece of shit in their pocket, and if you expect them to put it on a backpack or purse, why not just use a proper handheld that does the same but better and is probably more convenient to carry?

Most normalfags care a lot about the form factor and weight of their phones. It's a major selling point for the latest phone to be thinner and lighter than the last. Carrying a physical set of buttons would negate those selling points, I see most of these handheld controller addons as something you would keep at home, and if you're keeping it at home anyway, why not just play games on a proper system?

It's an app that lets you send pictures or short videos to friends which can only be viewed once. Sluts use it to send nudes because it is 'safer' than sending a real photo, often not realising that it is pathetically easy to screenshot the image before it is deleted. Otherwise it is used by people to send stupid messages/pictures to eachother. I only ever seem to get messages on it when my acquaintances from work are dunk.

Oh, is that why people keep taking pictures of me?

my new million dollar idea

it was originally also going to have the nintendo ds guitar hero accessory on the back of it but I don't know how to use photoshop that good

don't fucking steal my idea you plebs

I bet you wouldn't be saying the same thing if Nintendo released a Gamecube VC for the Switch.

If you own a cellphone for anything other than texting and calls you're poser hipster casual or else you best be 10.

Idiot, that's clearly a pajeet. Phone review sites are full of them.

I have a 7800. The left stick died out of nowhere. I wouldn't trust them.

Bullshit user. I slipped the controller in one of my pockets just last night and took it out. Maybe your perception is off because the controller is as small if not smaller than most cell phones.

I use it to watch old sitcoms on my shitty dead-end job.

In fact, I just compared it to my cell in it's otterbox case and the phone is actually bigger.

It beats having to move an entire tower and a monitor to whatever rack I'm fixing next tbh.

Soon

you do understand that most android phones have the ability to use a normal xbox controller now if you buy a 5 dollar usb adapter to plug it into a microusb port?

amazon.com/KsmileĀ®-Female-Adapter-SamSung-tablets/dp/B01C6032G0?

I actually got one for like 20 cents or so with my USB drive. Unfortunately, it feels quite flimsy and my xbox controller has really heavy cable.

That'd be perfect if I could cary some more tools along with it
And a keyboard, I can't do shit without a keyboard.

Use painters tape (no residue left) or something.
Most of the everyday problems you encounter can be easily and cheaply solved with some thought. You just need to realize "I can change this".

This looks like a great way to ensure your only charging port stops working years prematurely

Actually cut mobile data and put the phone on battery saver and your smartphone will last a few days.

Pretty useless obviously, phones are computers now.

You should buy an external battery pack (aka "power bank" in ching chong stores). They are not very expensive.
