NISA's track record of fuckups is much, much longer than XSeed's. The idea is if you give NISA money, you're just enabling them to fuck up another game. While XSeed actually put their heart and soul into games like Trails and Ys (I know at least one of them actually cried when NISA got Ys VIII)

NISA is so bad that Idea Factory told them to fuck off and decided to localize their own games. They outbid XSeed for Ys VIII and promised Falcom a quick release of it in the west, alongside a PC version. Now the PC version is delayed indefinitely.

I think they're also hemorrhaging other franchises but I'm not sure myself. Danganronpa was their biggest thing currently and that seems to have ended.

Even if NISAs only fuckup was the console bricking that would be enough for me to never ever consider giving them money again. Still amazes me they are somehow still getting their hands on games.

I tried both the direct route of saying his thought processes seemed distorted and he should see one to prove he was alright and the indirect route of saying he should talk to one about his anxiety or whatever in the hopes that any professional he talked to would figure out what was going on, but he just said his girlfriend agreed with him so he was clearly fine. Maybe if I'd looked into his personal information I could have called up his family and seen if they had some way of getting him institutionalized and started on antipsychotics. I didn't anticipate he would escalate beyond being crazy on the internet though.

Although, I think journos would have complained about the fact that you have to completely restart from the very first area of the game every time you get a "Game Over" or load the save file (Which was "fixed" with the password system in the NES release of Metroid where it just started you at the beginning of which area you were in).

You have that inside-out and backwards; modern gamers have become spoiled and complacent by things like instant spawning quicksaves, where the only modern games which even have lives are AAA franchises like Mario or Sonic (which is a holdover from back when they were exclusively 2D platformers) or hybrid modes like hardcore mode (which is artificial difficulty) in Terraria and Diablo or indie shooters like Touhou.

That reminds me, I was playing F-Zero GX the other day, and the presence of a live system made the game much more thrilling. Every other racing game I've played that was released in the past two decades didn't have that kind of thrill (Unless I couldn't restart the race, but that was mostly for the "Grand Prix" mode) because I just restarted the race every time I screwed up something moderately big.

Now I remember the marketing with New order. It had the trailer which ended with BJ up against ridiculous odds, which is what I love in my games, and there was also the cool alt history trailers. That was cool shit that made me interested in the game.

It still looks like I would like BJ as a character in this new one. but everything else about the marketing is try hard and cringy.
