More compact which is not a priority, but you could get a longer barrel on a platform designed for longer ranges and I'd say every inch counts then.

Because the few modern military games that feature British forces usually focus on the SAS, and I'm pretty sure they use AR-15 platform rifles like the Mk.18 and the Canadian C7 instead. The reputation of the L85 was also forever tarnished by the A1, even after the A2 fixed a lot of its issues.

The width of the magazine is determine by the overall length of the cartridge. The magazine system is viable with short cartridges (pistol/PDW ammo), but everything longer than that would mean having an overly large round. Also, if the cartridge is too thick, the magazine needs to be a lot longer to fit 50 rounds. The P90 layout works for P90-like weapons (SMGs and PDWs).

AUG with maticore brass deflector, MDR, ADS rifle and, apparently, new VHS say hello. The MDR still needs to be properly tested (there is one video of a guy having issues with the feeding, no one else seems to be having problems), we can't confirm if the ADS is good or bad, but it seems like a solid concept. The modernized AUG made by Thales seems great too, a simple polymer deflector should be enough to make it usable for shoulder-swap shooting.

Trade-off, at least in a war scenario. Weight toward the front is also an issue, anyone who has experienced long room clearing sessions will tell you that by the 5th room your work hand will be wrapped around the magwell and your arm will be tired by the end of the day. That's much less significant with a bullpup and the layout pretty much forces you to always keep some levering force close to the front end of the gun without too much muscle strain (the arm isn't as extended).

Traditional layout isn't inherently inclined to modularity, there just happens to be more modular rifles on that layout. You could have modular bullpup rifles, the MDR is one, Kurwa people are also working on one with modular features.

False, it comes down to design. The actual issue is sight radius, which isn't that important now a days (with reflex/magnified scopes being so common and IS only working as backups).

Most bullpup rifles are as short or shorter than a traditional rifle with adjustable stock in the shortest point (given the same barrel length, of course). The lack of adjustable stock is more of an issue for people that get to shoot in fatigue/civilian clothes), if you're wearing body armor, the standard length of pull works for the vast majority of the people.
The VHS has adjustable stock non the less. There is no reason not to have adjustable stocks on bullpups, that's just a byproduct of bullpups being made based on military requirements rather than the civilian market. The design process goes something along the lines of:

It's been around for maybe half as long (won't show up in games set before its adoption), isn't as widely used (so not used by many factions) and is nowhere near as iconic (the AK-47 and M16 series rifles are very much symbols of the Cold War).
