You're also way overhyping the negative impact of Halo. It had more impact on consolefags than it did PC devs. Big PC FPS like Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 [by extension TF2] were not created with consoles in mind but were ported later and they post-date Halo.

That was their mistake, they did bet their entire company on a single game, you can pretty much put a marker at 94 and notice how their games started to come at snail's pace until pretty much KOF was all they did and promptly paid the price when they were outsold or outperformed in that field.

No, it wasn't. SNK made a few mistakes, but KOF was not one of them. When the NG-CD & NG64 failed them, they were kept afloat completely by selling Neo Geo arcade systems to Mexico, brazil, italy, & other third world shitholes that loved cheap neo geo arcade systems. This is also why there's so many bootleg arcade carts on eBay. what killed them was Pokemon. It steamrolled the Pocket Color.

I would argue 3 is better than 4 or 5. It's got really nice atmosphere. TLDR: Making the CD & 64 was where they fucked up, & then they got unlucky due to pokemon.

It left a lot to be desired. Gameplaywise, it should have been a straight action game, with jus the chips for upgrading. No leveling, no unbalanced enemies, no bullshit where the enemies scale in level for just the flying segments. The enemies could have been much more formidable for something that has kept this war going for so long. You could practically, and easily, destroy them all yourself. The second secret boss turned out to be a disappointing cheap copy, paste, and edit of a story boss. Meanwhile the penultimate boss was fun and unique.

Storywise, while interesting, it had only three main character's, and all three are androids. This leaves a lot less room for there to be fucked up shit about the main cast. DoD, DoD3, and Nier all had much more colorful casts of fucked up weirdos. It seems there are plotholes everywhere, though I have trouble remembering them since most of the ones I heard were by people who were retarded and completely misunderstood what was happening with the plot. It has a ton of analogy to marxism and nihilism, and not the positive, Jewy, propaganda type, mind you.

It's worth a play, and it's technically better gameplaywise than any previous DrakenNier game, but it just failed when it could have been much, much better.

If I could go back in time and change the past, I'd do things a lot more important than just getting rid of a shitty video game. But one of the problems with time travel is that even if you change the past, it's questionable how much of an effect you could have. I think you'd have to do something drastic to actually make a substantial change, something that would go far beyond vidya. Let's say you got rid of Call of Duty. Now what? All the war propaganda bullshit would still continue in Battlefield, and everything cancerous about CoD would just move over there, or to some other series that only exists in the altered timeline. Normalfags will still demand censorship and dumbing down of deep game mechanics because they're still fucking stupid assholes, so if you want a gaming audience that doesn't like those things, you'd have to change society dramatically.

I doubt Everquest would have hit the same levels of success and Normalfag/pop-culture recognition as WoW did. The problem with WoW is that it's success was so fast and so steep that it poisoned MMORPGs for the next decade.
Read up on the development histories of MMORPGs that came after WoW released. Either the developers set out to try and copy WoW and steal some of their subscribers, or the suits came down from their ivory towers and told them to make their MMORPG project a WoW clone. It's only now after a decade of this shit that we're seeing MMORPGs that are truly starting to have different styles of combat and putting an emphasis on proper role-playing(Opposed to WoW's "role-playing" where "role-playing" meant playing DPS, Tank, Support or Heal Slut).

I liked it. Fox was pretty obviously shoehorned in, but the gameplay was still fun, the graphics still look good even today and the soundtrack was god-tier. Assault was highly underrated as well. If Adventures had actually been built around Fox from the get-go, included more flying levels and guns it would have been perfect.

This game right here. Because of Halo, Microcock's failing Xbloat got popular, and because Halo was popular they could justify charging for online play. And then everyone wanted to be Halo and we got a fucking decade long generation of nothing but military shooters.

Probably Call of Duty 4. Tiny killbox maps + persistent unlocks + console parity signalled the end of multiplayer fps. Granted other games (e.g. CoD 2) had done similar things but it was the one that really exploded in popularity with that style of shit.
