It's alright for a comfy summer evening when you don't have much to do, the criticism that it is a meme game is rather overblown and one easily parroted everywhere. That said the drink mixing minigame reeks of wasted potential and the game ending on a personal note despite the majority of the game being about hearing about the lives of other people always seemed rather contradictory to me.

Shitty game but I love pixelshit cyberpunk. The music is easily the best part. I fuckin love this type music but I have no idea what it would be categorized as. It's like the 90's equivalent of synthwave that's reminiscent of the music of all those moody cyberpunk stories that were popular at the time. Wish more people did stuff like this instead of all 80s all the time.

Va-11 Hall-A is one of the comfiest games I have ever played.

I wonder what happened to the developer now that shit is fucked in his homeland.

The visuals, atmosphere and soundtrack are nice.

The gameplay and writing however, are fuck-awful. The drink mixing "game" doesn't have much effect on anything, you don't get much in the way of agency. I went in expecting Papers, Please with waifus and bartending. First mistake.

The writing is also abysmal. It's about the equivalent of being in a halfchan thread with shitty stuttery teenagers doing weeaboo roleplay. The whole thing is composed of cringe. Shoehorn some halfchan fanservice memes atop of it and you get this piece of shit.
