Flood insurance is extra and most people don't have it, so exposing belongings to the area more likely to qualify for insurance replacement is a good idea. Don't they sell window guards or something for Hurricane prone areas? I always see people drilling plywood over their windows, which you'd think would fuck up your frames and trim. Why not just have brackets that you can hang a piece of sheet metal to which fastens tight, but don't look janky as fuck or can be covered up when removed. You'd think there'd be a lot of money in that.
