Best free MMO's?

Is there any actual MMMORPG that's genuinely free to play without any pay2win bullshit on it that has a rather large player base?

Bonus points if it's Animu themed. And yeah, I tried Google but too many clickbait websites to deal with.

Project Gorgon, WoW Ascention, Whatever the fuck was going on with Everquest and Guild Wars, and some dead bullshit no one cares about?

Dungeon Fighter Online
All mmos are bad

Their FAQ is seriously lacking but I'm trying to find out will it be free to play at launch?

The only money you would have to spend, if the game launches, would be a monthly payment to have the metagame features like chat log dumps. That being said, Project Gorgon was supposed to go retail a year ago for 45.00 USD. Black Tuesday, on the other hand, changed that when the devs banned 50% of their userbase for an exploit caused people to indefinitely loot a timed chest.

I miss CoH/CoV

OSRS
Or just Runescape in general since all the pay is just cosmetics and with around 5-8 hours selling bones/cow hides you can get yourself membership for a week

MMO's are dead, it's time to move on user

Define p2w first.
ALL of them have cash shops where you can buy inventory space and character slots.
Even paid mmos like FF14 have cash shops where you can buy pets, skins and shit.

The only MMO I know without cash shop whatsoever is PSO1, but you need to play on private servers today, so I dunno if they take donations and shit.

...

Every day until you learn to like it fucboi.

To it's credit, i don't recall Firefall being especially pay2win; Last time i checked, though, they took out the initially-unlocked classes, so i assume all of the ones that're left are just available normally.

PSO2 is as animu as it gets and while it bears the touch of the Jews it's fairly unobtrusive.

I'm currently burnt out on it though.

Oh.

Is the Mabinogi group still active? They had a few threads months back, been quiet since then.

Not a chance. I'm not a faggot like you.

every new mmo that releases follows the same formula. ergo, every new MMO is shit. because none of them are brave enough to take the risk and make a no bullshit hand-holding game like FFXI in 2003 with better content and customization. instead settling for a cookie-cutter experience that will bring revenue from dopamine addicts using the freemium model.

...

...

And why should it? You are not the target audience

The irony is free for all MMO that vocal minority here cries for is just not profitable model.
People who are interested in it are all hardcore autistic nerds that, unlike your average weeb waifufag, will never fucking ever spend a cent on anything. They will grind like motherfuckers and harass other players until playerbase, small to begin with, will only consist of themselves, after which they themselves leave another ded gaem.

ffxi is still sub-based to this very day you retard.

its 12 a month +1$ per character slot, even if you make a single character. and even though they have dwindling players and graveyard servers, there are people STILL playing it. and the community is still some of the nicest you'll ever have in any MMO, sadly the content has taken a turn for the WoW__ and its all powercreep "tiered" gear threadmills and several layers of "raid bosses" i still call them this from my lineage 2 days

all i want is a game like that, but nobody has the funds, brains, and balls to develop such a thing, and besides thanks to 2007 videogame fanbases are attracted to visuals and "franchise cred" more than they are to actual good gameplay. just look at FFXIV, its a piece of shit, it plays exactly the same as freemium garbage like PSO2, Secret World, or Revelation Online, and yet its the most played MMORPG of present times, why? because its Final Fantasy™ and nothing else.

Everyone should come join the Holla Forumsscape OSRS private server.
The numbers have dwindled down to a couple hundred from over a thousand a year or so ago.
We could really use some more memers.

They should talk on something other than TS.

...

XI in 2006 and XI now are entirely different entities. if you had played them you'd know, you clearly haven't.

Like I dunno play on private server or some shit.

...

All ded.
Spiral Knights is pretty much replaced by PSO2 nowadays.
Dofus 3.0 will replace Wakfu soon.

And, the "Groundbreaking innovation in connecting TV with the world of games"?
Also, I wanted to ask about Planetside 2 as well, but it didn't seem appropriate since there's a thread dedicated to the game.

How's secret world legends? I used to play the original secret world when it came out but now they rereleased it for f2p.

its the exact same shit. you follow a line to the next objective, interact with something, and follow another line for hundreds of hours and then you kill bosses.

the only difference is that it has an actual plot, but the gameplay will kill your soul.

i've been unironically playing Star Trek Online. It's not as bad as I thought it would be. I'm a huge star trek fan so that helps. It's not really pay to win because PvP is non-existant. It's more of a pay to not grind. Ship in pic probably costs $60, goyim can and will drop $1000 at a time buying that and other ships. You can grind for the game's money-tied currency though. There's an exchange for "dilithium" you get from missions and shit for "zen" what you use to buy all the premium shit. The kicker is you can only "refine" 8000 dilithium a day per character, which with the exchange = 27 "Zen" or $0.26. What people do is simply have 40 characters going at a time, since it's not that hard to grind 8000.

sto has problems but i'm having a good time with it, and given them zero money. the game survives because of good goyim in second pic

It's actually nice to see irl japanese schoolgirls enjoying life. For some reason my headcanon of irl japan is this bleak and miserable place full of future salarymen living on the bleeding edge of suicide.

Lord of the Rings Online is still around as far as I know. I played it back in 2006 when it came out, and I started again when it went F2P. I don't think the F2P system is that bad, with a few receptions. For instance, iirc, the riding skill costs store money, which you can theoretically get by grinding, but that's a bit nightmarish.

Still, I can recommend the game because it's comfy as fuck, and a wonderful representation of middle-earth.

The only MMO I would bother playing is Guild Wars 1, which you have to buy but has no subscription. The only reason it's worth playing is because the game actually stands on its own merits as a single-player RPG and you can play it 100% alone.

MMOs are dead.

There's at least one EVERYTIME there's an MMO thread, user.

FFXIV is free
until you reach level 30

You are fucking retarded. P2W = Pay to Win =/= Shitty Cosmetic Cashshops

So your headcanon is reality then?

spoiler that next time user

really now? tell me more about it.

Don't fucking play PSO2, play PSOE1,2&4.

Dofus 3.0 isn't going to replace anything, it's planned to be mobileshit e-sports cancer off the bat and has a shitty artstyle to boot. Dead within a year.

...

But that's exactly what Japan has become.

It reminds me of PMV/HMV porn

no
The industry killed MMORPGs even harder than everything else. The genre is completely, irreversibly fucked. Ask again next year, maybe.

No there isn't. I used to play a ton of them, but it's gone to shit even more than it already was. And there won't be improvement unless someone nukes Korea. I pray kimmy does it before he goes out in nuclear fire himself.

Honestly, I'd rather play single player RPGs with nice action gameplay and lots of dungeons to explore, but those are surprisingly rare too.
No nice things allowed, I guess.

More of this? I love it.

Dragon nest, enjoy having to play with fillipino faggots though

There are like 3 decent, mostly working Asheron's Call server emulators. This one seems to be one of the more functional and very populated servers.

Any MMO's I can play as a little anime girl and handhold with another user and call them daddy?

Like (((Discord)))?

game became a huge powercreep.

i used to play when the maximum level was 40, but they kept increasing it more and more. i quit around the level 50 update. i just couldn't bother farming all the new top gear all over again.

All of them?

...

This is the current hub for discussing MMO's I see fellow lonely seekers. I have news to bring to the flock. I forgot 2 games that "might" be fun so let's spin the idea around.
Camelot Unchained beta soon, apparently. I would need to buy to get beta probably. Here's to hoping it could be fun?
And Darkfall: Rise of Agon. After watching "the death of Darkfall" youtube video, I kind of want to see how Agon version is doing, but its probably just afk macro skillers in town. It does still look fun though, maybe. Would play if others jumped in too.

Either way my only "mmo" i'm on is osrs, and I want to stop still, its mainly single player garbage bot zone with Venezuelans.

There's not really anything out there other than Ragnarok online that fits your description so il mention other anime-related titles with possibly p2w or not elements in it.

Trickster online is old but still alive if you like 2d topdown and comfy music
Fantasy earth zero is an action slow-paced pvp focused mmo with 50vs50 wars with strategic elements but requires a vpn to bypass the iplock and knowledge in moonrunes.
Cosmic break is a tps mmo faster-paced and more pvp-centered than it's predecessor known as C21 online. It features chibi robots and chibi waifubots with Cyberstep's key feature being loads of gachapons with real money.
Tales weaver online is dead but there is an unfinished but playable english private server slowly being worked on.

Upcoming titles for english are Soul worker online and Closers online. Both mmos are dungeon-instance focused with lobby towns, difference is Soul worker is 3d tps and Closers online is 2.5D and closers online has an english international private server known as Code closers.
There's more out there but I won't mention them all.

We're about 2-4 who keep signing back on from time to time, Reason we went quiet is leader was offline for a long time but came back on more often recently. Other reason is to create a guild and recruit members, you need to fork over shekels for their good goy VIP subscription. It's just that he happent to have it on when threads were made. Right now we decided to wait until some better event shows up after maintenance before leader turns his VIP back on to recruit more anons.
t. guild member user who never played the older Mabinogi before.

EVE Online

I still cannot be happy about the fact it is MMO and always online.

EVE isn't free. Last I checked, anyway.

you still have to pay for member access, which is honestly worth it if you've never experienced it before. also the newer shit is totally p2w.

Not to mention it being p2w trash.

as far as free to play games, it's among the least p2w ones.

Yeah you will eventually be forced to pay for more storage, otherwise trading and hoarding will be hard. This is p2w.
Now this game has actual problems besides one time storage purchase but you decided to stupidly repeat what you heard in PoE threads years ago. You are not getting us anywhere, you came here for people to agree with you so you repeated opinion that used to be popular.

...

Toontown. Shutdown because of mobile shit and due to being unprofitable.

I want an MMO where we can get a bunch of anons together in a bath and proceed to drink tea while scrubbing each others backs

Holy fuck are you walking template?
Just re-read my posts. I could go on to give reasons stuff like PoE and early BDO won't really affect you while playing a game even through they are p2w. Give examples on how PoE was actually smart here and how BDO fucked up.
But unfortunately only person willing to talk to me is troll that cannot even troll properly so just act retarded.

...

...

eve free to play is more of a demo

You mean how you don't need stashes in PoE to just play through the story and how BDO hides basic functionality behind paywalls?
You sound frustrated tho.

I am. I left reddit because it was one giant echo chamber. People repeating stuff without much thought here annoys me.

Also yeah basically I mean that their p2w system is paywall. Nobody calls Eve online P2W because it doesn't allow you to play at all. BDO and PoE just have certain paywalls and after them you are even with everyone else. If you were to upgrade to full account in PoE and receive more stash tabs, nobody would call it p2w. If only difference between p2p and p2w is wording or offer, I don't consider it a big problem as I don't consider p2p a problem.
BDO also fucked much more in a way that their paywalls were something like 200$ total. I don't have problem with p2p but I have problems with something needing me to pay way over 60$. Plus BDO had a lot of troubles with actually being p2w. I never got into details all my friend and guild left after patch that made you not lose XP on death so I just dropped it before it.

I still can't believe it's been 11 years.

I don't even know what I want from an MMO anymore, besides the fact that every available one on the market right now is lacking it.

That sense of interaction with the world and game? Really MMO's these days feel like you are strapped in for a tour guide being shuffled from A to B with no time to enjoy or look at anything else going on. It's basically you must do "this" and only "this" or you will be punished. Doesn't help that most MMO's also forget the "Multiplayer" aspect of the game so there is never really any point interacting with other players, in fact most modern MMO's seem to punish you if you do for some reason.

HellMOO/InfernoMOO

You have to go back.

Private servers are the only solution. Even if the perfect mmo were released today, you'd be playing it with the online community of today. You need a high barrier of entry to filter out filth now.

Speaking of filth,

Go back.

You can buy plex and sell it to players for isk- how the fuck is buying in game items not p2w?

They added a free option with less skill access a while ago.

You're talking out of your ass. Lurk more.

Are you trying to tell me you shit on reddit but haven't actually checked out what it is?
And I admit I haven't played EVE or followed it recently. Just replace it with any mmo with trial.

How did you even find this site?

Where do you niggers come from?

Like that one time our old-school Hardcore PvP Race builds broke the game, and the devs told us they programmed the game wrong and to fix what we discovered they would have to rewrite the engine from scratch? Or the part where they never did, and let this shit keep bleeding with massive bandaids instead of proper stitches?

Go the fuck back

i just tried STO for the first time yesterday and even as someone who doesn't give two shits about star trek i'm really enjoying it. i like that ship to ship combat looks autistic on the surface but isn't, i like that i can customize my entire crew to look the way i want, i like that i actually choose an away team, and i like that it's basically a singleplayer game. for that matter, can i actually group up with my buddies and play together? if so, what are the restrictions? like i imagine klingons and the federation can't group together, but i have no idea about anything in this game aside from so far it's not bad

ya you can form teams. I think it's a five person limit. not sure on fed/rom/klingon mixing though, most people have 10 alts so it's not an issue. aside from the pve queues teams can run 98% of the single player missions together, the ones where you can't should be labeled.

pve queues start opening up once you hit 50 and everything opens at 60. pvp queue's too but pvp is dead as fuck. hardcore autists who also drop tons of money wreck anyone who tries and even normalfags who drop money don't want to join and get wrecked so nobody does

Kind of gave up on the game when it just became Lockbox Online and they killled off lvl 1-40 PvP. No doubt when you reach lvl 50 or whatever it is now you'll encounter grind and even more BUY LOCKBOX GOYIM!

People can actually die at lvl 50 with lulz tanking? I thought that was literally impossible unless you were a complete vicious mouthbreather i.e. a typical Fed player? Did they finally nerf the sets so you couldn't for example have a Bird of Prey hull tanking 5 ships?

(checked)
(checked i guess)
this game was worth the zero dollars i put into it

i have no idea i haven't played pvp since i started up again a month ago. everytime i look at the queue's they're all dead, i don't even attempt to queue one up.

same here, i refuse to give them any money, especially since I've heard some stories about getting banned for real money trading they're support is virtually non-existant, i guess the rmt thing is a problem with every mmo, their lack of support is a typical chink company move though. atleast eve online has a support, i've only used it a couple of times, but i've had responses back within minutes and problems fixed within the hour. goyim drop $500 a time into this and then support ignores their problems.

totally worth the zero dollars i'm putting into it though. is there a Holla Forums fleet for this going? i'm just in some random one.

the lockbox system is total goy farming, but there's really nothing in those lockboxes besides ships that matter. some ships literally require $1000 worth of lockbox gambling to acquire, which is fucking stupid obviously. i don't see how it's really necessary though, you can grind out a T6 top-tier ship in a month with a few alts, and it only takes 3-4 days to grind an alt to 60. That sounds like shit but starting from zero in Eve it's going to take you 6 months to get to a comparatively high up level.
