/ogc/ Racing Games General - Best PS2 Racing Sim Edition

I also liked Gran Turismo 3 more than 4.

A slight correction: It seems there may be one more car reveal for Forza 7, meaning that's not the full list.

A few days ago I got my motorcycle license, so lets talk about some games involving motorcycles.
I remember this gem from back in the day. Does anyone else know any good motorcycle games?

Freekstyle was pretty fun as well if I remember correctly.

i keep playing Most Wanted (2005)
help, im not supposed to have fun

Most Wanted is fun and all but after you are parted with the feeling of novelty about the well made arcadey racing physics you start finding faults with it very quickly.

Thoughts on Gran Turismo PSP?

Everyone seems to hate it for the fact that it has no career and customization, making the game practically pointless unless you like the gameplay, but I still like it for what it is and sank many hours into it.

It's not worth it, you're better off just play Gran Turismo 2 on your psp

The driving physics feel very comfortable on GTPSP.
It's not too simmy and not too arcadey and driving the very limited selection of dirt/snow courses is very fun.
The game also runs at 60 fps with occasional drops but nothing too gamebreaking, not to mention it looking nice.

novelty is nice but compared to today's arcade racing games, this one is top notch besides Maximum Tune

Also isn't save data tied to your PSP and if something happens you have to start all over? Fuck that shit.

It's shit

How much autism is necessary to get into iRacing? Has it been reduced?

You guys want to see my Twingo?

_No

What are some games with fun drifting?
I want something like NSFU. Drifting with my shitty Toyota and overtaking decked out purple cars with neon all over was pretty fun.
Preferably open world, but I don't mind if it isn't.
Why is NSFU 2 so fucking ugly?

The save data can be backed up and if anything happens to your PSP, you can always just use that file with PPSSPP

No, I mean, the save data is encrypted and can only be used on one PSP. I remember an user complaining about his GT save being useless after he sent his PSP in for repairs and the hardware ID changed.

That's stupid and probably had something to do with the firmware.

The first gen Multipla might be the single most hopeless car in existance.

I still have no idea what the fuck they were thinking with that weird separated look.

It looks like the car has 2 floors or something.

nah.

Anyone else picked up F1 2017? Having some fun with it.

At one point in the past I picked up GRID, apparently. Installed it. Guessed I'd get the racing autismo locals to tell me if it is a good game you can sink hundreds of hours into or it is as gay as the name implies.

So far it seems fun.

The first GRID is great. The AI is very good, they actually do stuff like give you headroom on turns. The physics are also this really nice "a bunch of realistic things every other arcade racing game skips simulated in an arcade way", and it's one of the few games to have body roll at all.
Remember to install broski's updated GRID, it removes the retarded piss filter the game has.

but user, you play as Chad. that girl wanted your dick, razor wanted your ~dick~ car. even cross too.

what is your first favorite car or favorite car back then?

what is your favorite car now?

mine is Dodge Viper and then Evo VIII

To both questions.

2000 Camero z28

now, 1970 dodge challenger.

Childhood is wanting a mclaren f1 longtail, adulthood is realizing you can't park it anywhere and a hot hatch that you can drive anywhere is where it's at.
I just want a saxo or a 106 gti.

They're cheap as fuck, and simple to mantain. but the interior falls apart every time, PSA a shit making interiors.

C4 Vette back then, Zonda R now.

First favorite car was the XJ-220. I was a little kid and my grandpa bought me a toy one. I didn't know anything about cars and thought the way it looked was just fantastic. Up until that point I had no idea cars could even look something like that, the car absolutely blew my mind.

My current and all time favorite car though after actually being into cars for at least 20 years or so now is the F40. There's not a car on Earth I'd rather drive, or just look at, than the Ferrari F40.

For some reason I absolutely adored the Porsche GT1 when I was a kid. My favorite car currently is probably the M3.

My favorite car back then was the diablo sv. It gave me heart a big stiffy. Now however, I like the deathtrap on wheels that is the MR-2 AW11. Can't get enough of that snap oversteer!

At first, I wasn't even into cars at all, but I liked how Muscle cars looked, now that I have gotten into cars, I have many that I find cool, too many to point out. But I really like obscure cars. Like this old piece or the Nissan EXA/Pulsar NX.

What are some modern racing games with good campaign I mean lot of unlockable cars and such.

Only thing that comes to my mind is GRID series, NFS are shit for some years.

A Nissan Skyline R34,

Nissan Skyline R34 still, but a R31 has a special place in my heart.

Back then I had a hard on for the cokemobile, nowadays I want a Stratos

g29 or g920?
im planning on buying

90s civic coupe
now I'm not too sure.

Dodge Viper GTS Coupe. The SR II models are class. I would still love one.

But I'm big into Ferrari now. I liked the F50 for some reason, even though people called it one of the worse Ferraris made.

Unless you plan on using it with an XBone you're better off going for the G29 since the G29 has more buttons and the LED rev indicator.

There needs to be a Ridge Racer and Ace Combat crossover game.

For some stupid reason I've always had great affection for Subarus. Well, generally for cars that feel like they were designed primarily by engineers for utilitarian purposes with some worried styling team trying to make it look atleast somewhat civilized and appealing afterwards.

Lancia Stratos just makes my dick hard with it's pure fun aspect.

The Sultan RS is my favorite car in GTA 5, I love having a Subie rally car in that game.

These are some real nice fucking video games.

you got any better ideas until PC2 or FM7 come out?

Speaking of until something better comes out

I'm stoked. I hope they fix the fucking single-axis throttle for wheels.

I hope we get this type of vehicle.

you do realize thats shaped like a Toyota alteeza/Lexus IS

kid, it was Charger Dayotna/superbird R34 GTR and the DeLorean

unfortunately, its basically impossible to own of these IRL, not because of money(I dont have any anyhow) but because its impossible to own one with out either being followed around every where you go by people enamored by the car, or drawing a giant crowd of slack jawed morons who want to ask you the same 5 questions the minute you pull into a gas station (I hate crowds and I dont like talking to people too much either)

So Id either have to get something thats kind of boring to most plebs (porsche 964 or 993, Buick GNX, cossie escort, Lancia Delta integrale evo 2 etc etc) or some kind of sleeper, like a toyota camry with the suspension from a chaser or Mark II and a 2JZ or a LS1

that Diablo probably can get snap oversteer if you drive retarded enough

Hey PCars user, I'm using the tweaked ffb for cars but I'm noticing I have lots of FFB clipping from my general settings. Can you hook a brother up with some setup info for general FFB settings?

Why the fuck does my game lag like hell when I hit any of those little muddy pebbles?
Graphics options do nothing, reinstalling does nothing a new (Gtx 970) GPU did absolutely fuck all.
Goddamn I want to play Spintires again.

i've never played spintires and never kept up with its development life, but i heard rumours that the head dev basically wrecked the game's code on his way out of the company as an extra little fuck-you to… the publisher? i'm not sure

That's exactly what happened, he programmed a ticking time bomb in the game because they stopped paying him. But the version that exists now on steam works fine.

Try installing spintires plus. You should probably also get afterburner for the monitory utility that comes with it, helps to sniff out bottlenecks.

Nvm I got it pretty dialed in between the FFB strength and wheel effect or whatever. If you have any tips I'll hear them, though.

...

lol I bet my Lexus LS400 V8 can smoke your slow-ass VTECs in a street race nerds

You're looking for /o/, this /ogc/, we drive pretend race cars.

lol I bet my Skylake i7 can smoke your slow-ass AMD Excavator at running pretend races with pretens cars nerds

Sorry, I didnt realize those were the only two racing games in existence.

We're still in Holla Forums, you're looking for /g/.

OVER THE LINE

Please fuck off back to halfchan

As someone who overdrives under pressure, I'm fucking hating Sonoma lately. I know the fault is with my own consistency, but goddamn these elevation changes are absolutely unforgiving in GT4,

Good luck being raped in the ass by the ME and being CIAnigger's pet.

I use the settings in pic related for my basic FFB settings, the ones you enter from the options menu that apply to all cars, and then with the tweaker files I make sure I have Fy+SopLateral selected. That setup has been pretty good in regards to not having issues with clipping.

Thanks! I got the Fy+SopLateral files and now that I've got the general settings dialed in better the FFB really rivals what I've seen from AC's FFB. Now if only I could stop straining my big toe driving barefoot. I think I need some Puma's or something so I stop using my toe for everything.

holy shit
Hiroshima track is awesome yet frustrating
lost 4 times because of that air time then hard turn

Any hope that PCARS2 will be good?

The word is that they've overhauled AI, and it seems true from the builds that the dev team and youtubers I've seen have had. Otherwise, I think if they refine their physics and FFB they'll be sitting pretty.

I hope they overhauled the multiclass behavior of the AI. Also, the track-selection is really awesome.

Why are American cars faster than yurocuck and japshit cars? Has always been like that ever since this boy was out.

Fuck off halfchan/o/

Cause turnleft doesn't require braking.

I've said this before, but there's a severe lack of cityscape driving games with densely populated cramped roads and lots of 90 degrees turns. They're far less boring than racing games, why can't we have more? Even Driver San Francisco lost the charm of Driver 1.

Faster on racing tracks, I mean. Not just NASCAR tracks.

Performance statistics matter less on actual tracks.

Because american cars are too big for euro/jap roads.
You can't really drive a an american car in euro roads without taking a lane and half.

Newest Viper ACR is the fastest production cars on many tracks.

Nowadays they're all the same tbh. It revolting.

instagram.com/takupon0816/

daaaamn, look at this shit

Shit looks like autism bro.

it's all dioramas, miniature stills made with actual car models, and there's a lot of them

One of my favorite parts about driver was that how your hubcaps could fly off.

That was inspired the the chase scene in "Bullitt" and "Una Magnum Special per Tony Saitta", I think. Neat little detail that newer driving games and movies don't have, and partly also because new cars rarely have that kind of hubcaps anymore.

I know, its kinda autistic.

Does anyone else think this game is a masterpiece?

I've been driving the fuck out of the AMG-Mercedes 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II DTM for the past couple weeks and it has easily become my favorite car in PCars. And it seems that the only people that ever want to race DTM cars around Nordschleife are other car enthusiasts so I'm actually able to start up Group A races online and not get them filled with shitters who do nothing but try to fuck you over, although since it's touring car racing contact does seem to be fairly acceptable which makes it even more fun IMO. I don't mind trading paint, but barrelling into people on turns and using them as bumpers to keep you on the track, or just straight up pit maneuver people into a spin is shit-tier.

Looks like it's shaping up to be a good game.

Is it possible to be good at rally games without knowing what all the callouts mean? I know some of those games us procedurally generated tracks which means simple memorization isn't possible. I always want to play them but I have absolutely no idea what any of the stuff the co-driver is saying means, he might as well be talking in Chinese as far as I'm concerned.

Doesn't look half bad. If dem phizzics hold up I'll try it.

From my limited experience it's mostly just calling out what direction the turn is in, then what gear you should be in to take the turn.

thats actually not been true since around the time that car came out actually

the original 69 charger daytona could hit upwards of 230 MPH

but by the early 90s the only thing getting close to that are heavily modified 964's 993's R32s, F40, Diablo VTs and other european cars

Yeah it's possible. I learned rally in some Xbox game that didn't have callouts for most modes (Rallisport challenge maybe?) and it's possible to be very quick still if you get good at just reading the road. If you are a good enough driver to know how tight a turn is going to be based on 1 second of limited visual information you can be fast. With pace notes you can be faster, though. I tend to tune them out on long sweeping sections almost entirely, and tune in when I hear about a right 1 or a hairpin or something coming up.

there was the Callaway, and thats the only american road car doing 200 mph

Dude it's not hard if you think of the call outs as what gear you should be in.

Right 6, don't worry about it go flat out.
Right 5, Let go of the gas, maybe tap the brakes just to be sure.
Right 4, you're gonna need to lose some speed and pay attention to the angle of the car
Right 3, slow the fuck down.
Right 2, brake hard so you don't wrap your car around a tree
Right 1 some games interpret 1 corners as 90º corners Dirt games go the extra step and have square callouts.
Square, 90º corner
Hairpin, shaped like a hairpin, tighter than a square.

Tightens, when a 5 tighens into a 4 halfway trough, reduce speed like it was 5 but use more sidewall braking so you lose speed during the corner.
Opens, the end of the corner is more open than the start so you can carry more speed
Caution, something is up slow down
Crest, bump in the road that upset the balance in the car
Dip, opposite of a crest
Jump, the jump isn't important, what's important is what comes after, if he calls out "jump into left 2" slow the fuck down so you don't crash mid jump.
Camber, the road is angled weirdly and it's gonna upset the balance of the car.

then you have the distance callouts these are just aproximate distances that give you an idea of the distance into the next important thing.

That's about it really, I'm sure there's a video on youtube explaining this in more detail.

^This is the most concise description you'll get. Another thing to keep in mind is that some games let you adjust the timing of the callouts to be sooner or later depending on how early you want to hear them. Adjusting the callouts to be earlier will help give you description for the corner you're JUST about to enter.

Awesome, thanks.

...

I lost my shit at this.

Forza killed the racing genre with its unicorn cars, p2w and dumbed down simshit and bizarre creations

What's so good about Maximum Tune exactly?

I think maybe he means something along the lines of

cool music
good arcadey gameplay
awesome tracks like Hakone, Kobe and Hiroshima
good competitive local community that's the best part of it

How well does midnight club 3 emulate?

Not bad

Absolute madmen

Also the two or three times where Guy is talking about having a wank

BallisticNG is gonna go from free to 5$ asking price.

Forza 7 demo in 11 days, sadly it's the same one they had at gamescom so nothing new.

archive.is/gF7kT

I mean, I don't entirely blame the developer but it's depressing to see what could have been for what it is now.

Bump. Did they ever fix Dirt 4's physics?

they said they're working on a big update, god only knows what that means, they've pretty much kept quiet on the whole physics front.

OH SHIT YOU FUCKING FAGGOT NIGGERS, YOU READY TO PLAY A GAME THAT WAS INITIAL D, BEFORE INITIAL D AND EUROBEAT WAS A THING, YOU FUCKING NIGGERS?!

OH FUCK, LISTEN TO THIS EUROBEAT, NIGGERS!

Initial D started in 95, Sega Touring Car released in arcades in 96. It's still good music, though.

So I went to check out some early 2000s BMW M3s because I thought they might be cheap and they have cool looks. Turns out collectors and such make them cost over 30 grand. Fuck me.

Toyota Supra Mk4, I ended buying one and still own it, thinking of selling though.
Probably the Lamborghini Huracan spyder atm

The manga started in 95. Initial D the anime and using Eurobeat started in 98. I specifically said Initial D and Eurobeat as a thing like one thing or something, but fuck it…

Fun fact: Avex licensed some of the songs out to Sega for the game. Avex then worked on the Initial D soundtracks after.

...

Any good ps2 racing games besides gran turismo, nfs and burnout?

Flatout 1 and 2.
Tokyo Extreme Racer Drift 2.

Is there any good racing MMO besides World of Speed?

Anyone?

Fucking hell yeah

FUCK

So, how is Assetto Corsa? Just recently got into racing games after playing some forza. But, I kind of wanted to get a racing game for my bloodborne box.

Just buy a Mustang GT faggot.

PCars 2 has a bunch of laser scanned tracks, including Nurburgring. That's nice.

get a 328 or 330i, VANOS sucks faggot

It's alright. Not nearly as much content as Forza and the career mode is pretty weak, but the physics are much better in my opinion. I say wait for Project Cars 2 and see how that pans out.

...

if you're looking for a group to race with cuckchan /o/ has /ovg/

Where the fuck do you think most of us came from? Go back newfag.

Well, I've missed a good handful of shifts in my first race with shoes on- BUT it's still better than blowing out my toes like I was before.

I'm pretty hyped for PCars 2 tbqh. If it comes out though and everyone says it basically feels identical to PCars 1 I'll probably go ahead and get AC instead, I love PCars 1 but I really want to feel like I'm getting a new game and not just paying some huge amount of money for what to me will basically just equate to a Ferrari and Rally X DLC. Those laser scanned tracks would be nice though, but AC has those too. From what the JewTubers are saying though PCars 2 really upped their physics game.

Bump

Yaaa it's too early to know for sure, but the physics and AI seem to have marked improvements from what I've seen from jewtubers. The car list is looking fucking rad though with the inclusion of Lamborghini and licensed Indy. The full track list is also looking objectively great. I'm hopeful.

I wish we had more comfy open world driving games that weren't restricted to shit like Uplay or Windows 10

Had to drive into town today, saw a '17 mustang merging into the highway, and on my way back home I had the pleasure of being overtaken by a GTR, I was doing 130Km/h and it felt like I was standing still, the damn thing was so gracious, completely planted to the road no wobble or shakes even going over bumps in the road.

Reminds me. I was driving back from the races this weekend and got into a little touge with an old stingray for like 15 miles of winding country road. He was cool about letting my '98 Camry set the pace for a while but he eventually got sick of it and overtook me on a corner exit and then led for a while. Really fun stuff.

This is what I'm wanting more than anything really. Even just having wheel support for GTA on my plebstation would be swell. I just wanna cruise around a giant map that's littered with plenty of traffic and everything else. I'd be happy with just having Eurotruck Simulator or something equivalent available to play on PS4.

Hey OGC guys, I just had an inspiration for making watching races better.
I will use this video as an example for critique and I want answers from you why the quality problems are still here in 2017 with our technology.
Important question, please read

So firstly, go to anywhere in the race. Pause the video when the camera is still and not tracking the cars. WHY is there motion blur, are video engineers this retarded or poor still? I am seeing 2 frames when I pause the video, and I see 2 cars on top of each other basically. Why is this an issue with video recording? Here's the real interesting thing though:
When we play video games, our monitor has motion blur already (supposing its a non Ultra Low Motion Blur reduction monitor, 99% of them). When you look at a slow motion recording of your gameplay, you do see 2 images on top of each other, this is "ghosting" "bleeding" i.e. blur. The previous refresh is bled into the current refresh.

BUT, we are watching a race with our monitor. The video recording the race somehow has motion blur frame-by-frame, and when WE watch the race, our monitor puts motion blur on top of the already existing motion blur within the video. Double the blur basically. Why does video capture have blur? Don't they have $5k+ video cameras?

Another thing, the video is 25 fps, I know some races show at 60 fps, which decreases recording blur and your own monitor blur (assuming you don't have ULMB strobing).

In conclusion, why has there never been discussion of this anywhere? If you can record the race with no blur that would make watching it much more exciting, and if they could up the fps to 120-240, that would almost eliminate motion blur for all monitors that can reach 120-240hz. I know it takes more time to encode a video with more fps, but still, this is the epitome of technology showcased, with video engineers and race car sports.

Anyone else have these concerns? Also in the future I'd like to watch a race in 3D (doubles resource intake/uptake I know but would be interesting).
I want to see the cars in all their glory. These things need to happen and will make the sport more enjoyable.

The Suzuka internet infrastructure was taking a fucking dump during this race, so I wouldn't be surprised if they ran at special ASS bitrate settings and whatnot. Are other vids like that as well?

I can't answer your question in general, but in this specific case, either Suzuka's infrastructure or Nismo's streaming partner probably wouldn't be able to stream in that high of quality with the equipment/connection they had. This isn't an issue for television or even to some extent satellite-based communications like 4G or whatever else.

That being said, as internet infrastructure at raceways improves and/or the radio/satellite-based communications that we see used in cockpit cams improves, we will see better video streaming.

I figure comms are strong enough today, but you have a point about cockpit cams being finnicky right now. I would love more than anything to have good quality and clear cockpits.

If they have the ability to mount a live-stream high speed camera right now, I want to see it. I understand you can slap a high framerate camera and observe the recording raw afterwards, but like you said the problem is probably the amount of data / processing needed real-time to achieve 120+fps, high resolution, and blur reduction camera recording tech.

yeah you'd think that the internet is just good enough these days, but I've net admin'd at a big event center and have seen failures like what happened at Suzuka many times. Technologies are improving surely, but the money has to be there in order for all that bandwidth to get from camera to the streaming partner to the facility mainframe to the wide net in an orderly fashion. The Suzuka race was either the facility infrastructure being overloaded, or the streaming partner was being a jew and trying to get the job done on less.

Interesting, thanks for hearing my thoughts out. How do you manage to have work for something we are talking about, what a coincidence. sys. admining, technology/programming always seems so out of reach for me as a mech engineer. I posted this thought on the blur busters forums, and will see what they have to say about it. Those guys are pretty smart when it comes to blur reduction, I want to see if they can help on this issue too. Its unlikely though as you've mentioned, its more of a data transfer problem which is probably much more complicated/convoluted than fixing front-end blur on a monitor.

Yeah man hopefully quality just keeps on going up til we have all the things we'd love to see as spectators. By all means, we can brainstorm things together and maybe solve some problems, but one small thing I think helps in a way is to just show up for streams so that NismoTV or Indy or whoever is running it can see that it's definitely worth putting their money into.

What kind of mech engineer college did you go to that doesn't teach you programming? Mine did but then again placement for mech engineers here only 40% and I'm one of the 60% that is horrifically underemployed Either way racing in general is a lot harder to render than something like football mainly because it has to refresh so much of the data so quickly that normal tech used for other events simply can't keep up. The only way you're going to see better streams come out with the frame bleeding fixed is being able to encode at a higher framerate than the shitty 25fps that is standard with television and then a higher bitrate for cameras with lots of action.

Hey bud, i'm unemployed as an engineer too. I'm just a labor man right now, its very relaxing not having to worry about anything engineering related if you know what i mean.

Every time I see footage of stock car races I get reminded that Irwindale Speedway is getting torn down in favor of a strip mall next year. I'm gonna miss that tiny little ring.

Any racing game that doesn't feature big tittied scantily clad slutty race queens isn't a real racing game.

looks really horrible on third person

nice trips bub

wew, it's even worse than I remembered. I stopped playing nfs games after HP2, but my brother continued buying those games and I watched him play. These games are cringy as fuck. They should make those games GTA style so I can just get out of my car and beat those fuckers up.

what the hell are you doing? 852x480, 20 seconds and almost 11mb. I know that you need higher bitrate for gameplay videos, but that seems unreasonably high. What's the bitrate on that clip? 2k?

45k

what the fuck

i just didnt check the size and bitrate
dont worry about it

Why am I so shite at driving the Huracan''s with factory assists?? I even cranked stability control to 50% and the back end just fucking loves to come out regardless of downforce or differential.

FUCKING HARRISON
FUCK YOU HARRISON
FUCK YOU
Is Asseto Corsa any better?
I want an equivalent of Gran Turismo for PC but I guess the closest I'll get is just racing sims and semi sims

Under acceleration, or what? Post a webm if you can.

Bump. Anyone here actually gonna buy GTsport? It's only a month away.

Sometimes under acceleration, sometimes coasting through a turn. I have a tendency to over-drive in general and I think this mid-engine business is just affecting the weight a lot when I try to push it. I'll record next time I drive it and see what we can see.

Ah man nvm I just had to crank rear downforce and diff settings beyond what I felt was reasonable before it started behaving how I feel a lambo ought. Had to encourage a certain amount of understeer in order to keep me from overdriving it and flying out on apexes.

Dropped 3 seconds off my Nordschleife time in the Bentley Continental GT3 car today just by fucking with my sway bar settings. I had been hitting a wall at 6:53 for the past couple months and nothing I could do could get me any lower. No idea why I didn't think of messing with it sooner.

PlayStationfag here, I seriously have zero interest in GT at this point, the entire franchise has been going steadily downhill since GT2.

Congrats. I'm still working on my subpar setup game, but I was able to drop 10 seconds off my paltry 7:35 in GT3 glass by getting this Lambo to behave like I want to- So that's encouraging.

I need to work on my setup game too. I never even really touch spring and rebound rates, camber, or any of that stuff really. I mainly just stick to downforce, steering ratio, brake bias, fuel levels, boost levels, and more recently, sway bar settings.

Any car game I play in 3rd person I perform much worse in.
There's something in not having the view in front of the car that fucks with me and I can't get used to.

Probably a reencode of a lossy encode.
Either way mediainfo says his webm is VP8 video + vorbis audio so it's bound to be shit, because vp8 is shit.

...

I CAN'T EVEN TELL HOW MANY FUCKING GIGS OF THIS KINECT API IT'S INSTALLING FUCK OFF I'M NOT USING A KINECT HEADSET SUCK MY DICK

Guess you should buy a kinect now.

densha de d lightning stage is kind of fun, but I have a bit of trouble understanding it, I think the game kind of goes like this

What's a good, cheap wheel?
The cheaper the better since I'm poorfag that has to import, but not so cheap that it's not worth it.

Plebeian taste. This is now a flight sim thread.

filtered

The one in your picture/G29. I wanna upgrade from the G29 at some point but good fucking lord is it better than a pad.

Expensive Peripherals General is down the hall. We only do wheels, pedals, shifters, seats, shoes, gloves, mounts, VR, TrackIR, and multi-displays here.

WRC 7 is out. Looks like they killed any momentum they might have had with terrible performance.

store.steampowered.com/app/621830/WRC_7_FIA_World_Rally_Championship/

is there any good wangan midnight game that i could play on pc?

I guess this is the right place to ask rather than to make a separate thread.
What games, racing or otherwise, apart fron NFSU2 has mitsubishi lancer evoloution 8 in them?
I'm really not into cars, so I don't know if it's actually a good car, but I think it looks fucking amazing and visually the only one that stands out for me.

They tried to sneak it out in a blog post that the majority of the games content, including Single Player Campaign is online only and all progress requires an internet connection. Only a small selection of tracks for arcade and split screen mode along with Time Trial mode is available if you are offline.

It's dead before it got off the starting line.

ur better off with Tokyo Xtreme Racer series

I think Dirt Rally had Mitsu Lance Evo.

I think CMR 05 and RBR have evo 8's

F1 is H A R D

Fucking Microjew. Honestly expecting people to drag their kinect headset to their computer just to use the voice commands on this game when there are PERFECTLY GOOD MICROSOFT VOICE REC API'S ALREADY

G29/G920 is probably your best bet from a price standpoint. The T150 is suppose to have better FFB than the Logitech wheels, but the pedals on it are complete shit, plus Logitech has a better reputation for reliability, and their warranty has an extra year over the Thrustmasters(unless you live in the EU, their consumer protection laws make it so that they both have 2 year warranties).

If you're looking to get a good wheel and you're on a tight budget, go for the one in your pic related. Or, and this is only if you don't plan on using it with an XBox, go for it's sibling the G29 since they cost the exact same but the G29 version has the LED rev indicator and more buttons.

I I bought a racing wheel a while back, but my desk is thin When I clamp it down it slides off. I thought about making a makeshift stand. What are your set ups like to play? Did anyone buy a mount and found it was worth it? The ones I see on amazon are a bit much.

I just use my desk and it works great for me, but eventually I'd like to get a Playseat Challenge.

Inside Sim Racing just uploaded their review of WRC 7. Seems like it might actually be a good game.

Is there anything good for $200 or less?

Thrustmaster T150 . If you're willing to wait, I'm sure there will be some pretty good deals come black Friday. I think the Logitech G29 got down to like $200 on Amazon Prime day, so it'll probably do that again around the time black friday rolls around. amazon.com/Thrustmaster-Force-Feedback-Racing-PlayStation-4/dp/B014US02ZA

Hmm things can go right sometimes it seems! Good to hear

It looks much better than 6, but Steam user reviews are saying it has a number of technical issues. I'll likely end up waiting to see if any future updates make it run better.
That being said, I'm hoping it's a good game. I'm itching for a new rally game and Dirt 4 was kind of disappointing, wish they had did a Rally 2 instead.

G920/G29 on sale on Amazon comes close to $200. I got my T150 on sale from Dell for $150, also had TMXs for the same price. The pedals don't feel amazing but they work well enough and I currently use them with my T.Flight 4 for 2 extra axis in flight/space sims.

Thanks guys. Much appreciated.

I dont like super cars. whenever I get to point in game where its only super cars left I uninstall.
unfortunately that way I only play like 30% of game.
I really dont get it.

Yeah i get you, i miss street racing games where you just drive tuned and riced sports car and muscle cars. Need For Speed games these days are just fucking super cars crap.

street racing is not needed there are dirts and grid that did racing with semi-ordinary cars well.
also NFS were always super cars from first one just the Underground was short lasting change.

I want street racing games though, Underground was fun.

Midnight club LA was pretty good had a lot of fun with that old golf in it but pretty much same problem as before that it got into supercars territory and also ps3 performance sucked ass and textures could not keep up with speed.

I played Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition, that shit was fucking fun, i miss that shit as i don't have consoles anymore.

Man, I want to buy that game but does it really have denuvo?

Dub Edition Remix emulates alright, I've been playing it a bit these past few weeks.

Tokyo xtreme racer 3 or Zero?

Going to move into my uni residence tomorrow, I'm only bringing along my laptop, what are some games you guys recommend that can run nicely on laptop hardware.
Ps2 emulation is out of the question, I can't get 60fps.
Already have flatout 2 and Underground 2 installed, richard burns Rally is also in here. What am I missing?

The dirt games run good on laptops

i prefer Zero the traffic on the highway is pretty unpredictable
use car list faqs if you want details on which car is which

if you think Zero is hard try 3 then

Some interesting info on Forza 7, including the full achievements list.

Looks like you have control over weather in free play which is nice. I was worried it would all be random because they were bragging about it so much.

Did any of you see today's f1 race?
Goddamn retarded eurocucks.

install freetardshit, it runs on potatos. Not /ogc/ material though, but those games are all tiny save for OpenMW and they're all good and nice to have.
Dwarf Fortress (you'll run into fps death early on laptop hardware however)
Nethack
OpenTTD
OpenMW

PPSSPP so you can emulate PSP racing games such as wipeout fusion. Use the standalone version because retroarch's is trash.
Speaking of retroarch install retroarch, install emulators for consoles that interest you. Anything older than the n64 and ps1 should run at full speed on basically any notebook unless you have some retarded 1ghz quadcore like my tard relatives, in that case you can still get by with alternate emulators that are not focused on accuracy and even if your notebook isn't shit these speed-focused emulators can be good for battery life.

Something that's less talked about mainly because it's shit is the juiced series, you can try those games.
Auto Modellista is a ps2 game that emulates easily and some of the races are street races.
GRID 1 is mostly track racing but there are plenty of street races early on.

man, that is embarrassing. they haven't changed a damn thing.

You should never ever do that under any circumstance.

More drunk Ian Bell shitposts incoming about the media.

Does this count as racing?

IGN's review of PCars 2 had basically nothing but good stuff to say, and gave it a 9.2.

Really though, I'm waiting for reviews from people like GamerMuscle and Jimmy Broadbent. Whether it's good praise, or bad, it's all irrelevant unless it's coming from the mouth of an actual simracer who knows what he's talking about.

You're right, but I don't mean coasting all the way through the turn. I'm talkin about the post-brake pre-exit coasting that happens in the first half of the turn.

any upcoming racing vidya worth buying a g29 for?

Nigga there are current titles worth buying a wheel for. If you enjoy driving cars fast it's worth buying a g29 right the fuck now.

Absolutely plebian

Take a look at the wheel market and justify your statements

So recently I watched InitialD and it has left me thirsty for a racing game.
Are there any games racing games for Linux, Gamecube, Wii, 3DS, or PSP that would let me live the meme?

Initial D games that can be currently be played are Initial D Street Stage for PSP, Initial D Special Stage for the PS2, and Initial D Arcade Stage 6 AA which got an unoffical way to run it on PC.

Not Initial D games would be Need for Speed Carbon, Midnight Club 3 PS2 version, Daytona USA 1 or 2, Outrun 2006 Coast 2 Coast, Test Drive Unlimited, GRID, and Sega Rally 1, 2, 2006, or Revo.

How do you run InitD Arcade Stage 6?

To run Initial D Arcade Stage 6 AA on PC, you need to find a dump of the game and use a program called TeknoParrot to run the game.

Note this program can also run other Ringwide & Ringedge games.

nice, thanks

I can't even hear the word "nice" anymore without thinking of Steve.

His videos never fail to make me salivate. Makes me want to try one of them non-American MREs.

Argument discarded

Even if you pay the extra $60 for the G29 shifter, you're still competing with price for used G27 sets

Not to mention the G27 has a lot better support for older games.

Sometime I really miss NFS underground 1 & 2. So many hours of my teenage years spent on this games…

feels.

Anyone try the Forza 7 demo yet? I'd do it but Windows wants me to update and the last time I did that my install got fucked.

I'm downloading it right now.
For fuck's sake modern devs, learn to compress your shit.

Back from playing it using a gamepad. Oddly enough it's the E3 demo and not the gamescom demo, which means you drive the truck in the second event. It performs worse than Apex which is an automatic turn off for me since my PC isn't very strong. Everything was on dynamic low and I still felt some stutters. The camera shake was abysmal though thankfully you can turn it off. Physics felt OK, obviously better than Horizon 3. The AI was better too since they didn't actively try to destroy me. I'm gonna wait and see if they ever fix the performance post release before considering it. Might just be me though.

And there's the culprit. The one core utilization is back despite the fact that it was fixed in Horizon 3.

inb4 that's the thread that handles microsoft's heavy DRM.

Was that a problem with Apex? Because I think that Horizon and Motorsport have different dev teams.

...

I don't think Apex had that specific issue, but it did suffer from the stuttering we still saw in Horizon 3.
They do. Turn 10 works on Motorsport and Playground games works on Horizon. They both share the same engine and apparently both teams work closely together when it comes to the tech added to it. This explains how the issues from Horizon carried over.

Does CTR count as a racing game?
also is there a way to remove cheats once they're in?

Yes, CTR counts. And no I don't think cheats deactivate once you put them in.

Do we have an /o/ here on Holla Forums? I've never actually looked.

>>>/o/
Apparently we do.

There is also >>>/f1/ for all of your HAMILTONWINSLOL needs.

Alright I caved and pre-purchased PCars 2 for muh bonus cars. Here's to hoping for a smooth release. Feel free to call me a retard.

NEVER PRE-ORDER

I KNOW. It's only the second time I've done it in 5 or 6 years. I just want the cars man!

I've been super tempted to as well, it's taking all my self control to hold out and wait for reviews and probably the inevitable several months of patches it's gonna take to get the game to how it should've been at launch. Modern day games are all basically trainwrecks at release anymore. I'm hearing really good things from the streams I've been watching of it the past few days though.

Yeah, I mean there are things that can go wrong still, BUT it seems like it's already better than 1 (minus perhaps the Tweaker FFB settings which are perfection on 1). Considering how busted 1 was on release and how much improvement they made on it, I think there is hope for a nice active dev cycle on this one. At the end of the day, I rarely pre-order, but sometimes I know I'm going to buy the damn game anyway and don't want to wait for a sale.

It honestly has been looking good on the streams I've been watching that are running on the final build. I was watching one last night and I came soooo close to pre ordering while I was watching the guy.

Was just going through the Project Car forums and saw this post by The Stig. Logitech G series master race. It's legit BTW, he's been employed by SMS since PCars 1 to give them input on handling and FFB, and he's the guy that does the voice of the race engineer that you hear during the races.

Good to hear the logitech is feeling great at least haha

Goddamnit. I need to calculate fuel better for these GT4 races. Went about 23 laps at Sonoma before realizing I was burning too much fuel, so I start saving fuel and hoping to still be in the points at the end of the race. Practically coasted my last two laps before I realized even my second fuel calculation was a lap short and ran out of fuel on the start/finish. Went from P4 to P13 on lap 27 to a nice big DNF over the hour or so.

If it's in PCars you should be able to cycle through the digital display to see your average fuel consumption per lap and fuel consumption for last lap too. I think basically every car with a digital display in that game has that ability. I have the cycle button mapped to the right D-pad button on my wheel, just set it under the controller settings (I think) in the options menu. Not sure if AC is that ability though, it seems like it might though.

Ah dope I'll check that out during practice/qualifying so I can make a better estimate

Tell me a Game better than FlatOut 2.
Protip: You can't.
Tío vas GameSpy is dead, I would love to play It online.

I spent shit tons of damage at that game, I still remember eating chips while playing it, that night was comfy af

Say no more fam

too bad*

2 is way superior.

I hope you choke on the cock you are sucking now, faggot, and die.

Is raceroom racing experience any fun?
Is the multiplayer ded?

Glad to see PC2 upped its game and became something more than a pretty tech demo with cars.

I was just about to post this and the page updated with your reply right as I was about to hit paste. The only big con he seemed to have was with the AI, honestly, all the cons he had don't really matter to me at all, like the glass breaking during crashes and complaints about oval racing, I really don't give a shit about any of that. All I'm mainly concerned with are the physics and the FFB, both of which he had praise for. Looking to be a pretty good game.

room to race

Cool, I'll watch this while I wait the hour for the game to install

WHAT?

L O L

Do you expect anything else?

I've got 5 minutes in game and can tell you the actual release version fixed a few issues that he mentioned in the first 10 minutes I saw of this. Namely default settings, and the pit limiter. You can have manual control of pitting AND pit limiter.

The pit lane notification is definitely still too wide on the track. I have noticed an audio stutter with the M3 GT3 engine (may just be my gay Razer headphones), and on this race the entire field pitted a lap before my chief told me "There might be rain". So, there are faults, but nothing that can't be ironed out easily. Overall, this game on day 0 is already overall better than PCars 1 at the end of its dev cycle. FFB is improved greatly out of the box, but does lack some weight transfer/understeer communication. AI is a lot better already- They'll lunge you without doing suicidal divebombs and will adjust their cornering to act defensively. The engine sounds have a lot more depth and bite than PCars 1, and the drivetrain sounds are completely independent of the engine, which is a nice touch. Tire squealing is a bit more shrill than it ought to be IMO but can be mixed down.

I'm feeling pretty good about PCars 2 so far, actually/

Not that anyone is waiting with baited breath on my review or anything- but I realized I didn't touch on graphics or optimization in my hot take. Shit's way prettier than the first game, and runs as well if not smoother on Ultra. It's very fucking stable through different weather effects/NPC counts, and the track lighting/backgrounds have far more depth.

We want the Dwarf Fortress experience

Is it worth installing NFS: MW (2005)?
4 things that makes me not want to install:

Video related to catch-up.

That's undercover not MW

Wait, are seriously the inputs you make in half a second so important that it puts that much more strain on the game?

...

According to them, yeah. It's horseshit though, there's no way having everything fighting for a single core decreases input delay.

Thrustmaster T300 RS GT or g29 with shifter?
both are the same price relatively the same price here

The Thrustmaster has better FFB, but the Logitech is more reliable and has the better warranty unless you live in the EU. The FFB on the Logitech still feels really good though.

I feel like Circuit of the Americas doesn't want me to be happy

What's A good wheel to use when playing older 6th gen, games? I got a Madcatz MC2 from a local store, but I'm wondering if there are better options.

Road Fighters 3D is fun
a mix of burnout and maximum tune
it doesnt have account save though or have wheel support yet though

try it my friends >>>/1cc/

I bought g29 with the shifter and to be honest I'm a tiny bit disappointed. It's still a good wheel, but FFB isn't the best. I got a good deal on it so I don't regret purchasing it, so if you get a good price I would still recommend it. As for the shifter, it's a toy, nothing more than that. I broke mine accidentally, but Logitech send me a new one so it's good now. Keep that in mind if you buy it, it's a toy so be easy on it!

Any other decent "simulation" type racing games like Forza/GT? I've played sega gt and group S challenge.

Anyone get Project Cars 2 yet? Is it worth the price, or is it a wait for sale?

Project Cars and Assetto Corsa are probably the two closest current games to Forza or GT. I hear RFactor 2 is really good as well, and Race Room is decent as well, and I think it's legit free rather than going hunting for a working torrent free.

If you didn't like PCars 1, wait for a sale. If you enjoyed PCars 1 despite its faults, PCars 2 is better in every area but still has faults. There are a number of little bugs to be ironed out still, but the overall experience on release is better than PCars 1 in nearly every way.

If you scroll up 10 posts or so I gave my first thoughts in more depth

I guess I won't be playing it…

Assetto Corsa anons, did you play any fun track mods? If so, please share them with me!

If you can run PCars 1 you can run 2. It's almost optimized better from what I've experienced.

I could barely run it, it was fine with no other cars and nice weather, but during races in rain with other cars it would struggle a bit sometimes. And that was on low/medium settings.

I'm on Windows 7 and I don't know which versions they mean by this

Probably the same thing as Dead Rising, either a fully updated and patched version of Windows 7 or any variant of 10. Trying to run Dead Rising on an older copy of Windows 7 explodes.

I guess it's kind of iffy then. I will say the framedrops with weather and opponents that I got in 1 are not nearly as drastic in 2, but I'm not sure how well the optimization scales. I'm running it on 7 (idk ver.), AMD 8350, 8gb ram, GTX 1050 Ti.

I've i5 3330, 8gb and gtx 950. So not the greatest PC and I don't know when I updated windows the last time, it was probably around a year ago and even then it broke something :/
I guess I can still try it, I don't really have anything to lose, but a few hours.

Please still have the one of me flipping on the super flat track. I forgot to save it.
