I still think Amy should roll because the level design demands it. But Amy should have no spin dash. Also for hammer would Amy have an attack and jump button or just a jump button? If only a jump button then hammer bounce can be a replacement for spin dash. The trade off is Amy's standard jump isn't a spin jump. So she can only damage enemies with her hammer. Also depending on what direction you push the D-pad determines Amy's hammer attack in mid-air with jump, which could be hammer spin for more lateral distance by going left or right or hammer drop by holding down. Maybe a full rolling hammer attack if no direction is held which can smash everything around Amy until she lands.

I've spent many hours playing this game, even though it's Windows-only and I run Linux.
The level design is all over the place- some of the levels are really well done, other not so much (there's a few Knuckles/Rouge-style stages like they had in Sonic Adventure 2, but I at least am not a fan of them)
The game mechanics in general though are incredibly well done, and you'll easily lose hours upon hours trying out all the different stages and messing around with the Chao Garden.

If you wanna go fast…There's some mach speed levels too- levels where you can't slow down, always going full speed. I found this surprisingly fun&addictive, see vid related.

Yeah, probably the most impressive thing with this game is the cast of playable characters.
I think you'll struggle to find a character you want to play who isn't playable in this game.
They each have their own quirks- some characters like Tails can fly, some like Knuckles can glide if I recall correctly, etc.
It's really an incredible fangame, if you liked Sonic Adventure 2 you'll appreciate this.

The only 3D sonic game I've ever particularly enjoyed was Sonic Adventure 2. (I haven't played many of the newer games such as Generations however)
I think the 3D sonics in general are shit, but this fangame in some ways plays better/has some better levels than Sonic Adventure 2, I think.
The other thing is the Chao Garden, which was incredibly fun and addicting.

Personally I think "going fast in 3D" could be done better than I've ever seen Sonic manage to do it, and I'd like to get around to doing it myself someday.

Sonic CD doesn't have anything wrong with it. Its practically the best game before Taxman, but with Wide Screen and 60 fps its hands down the best sonic game. The time travel and level design alone is what makes it so good. I may be wrong but I suspect you just don't like it because your a Dimps Kid who thinks sonic is about going fast. If you want to speed run CD you need to git gud. Why I love it, is because it offers you a variety of ways to approach the challenges making it much more replayable. If you want to speed run it, that is one set of challenges. If you want to 100% it that is another. If you just want to beat it then its relatively simple. What makes it great is how its so open to be explorer instead of being 3 boring routes. I get it many people don't like the Platforming and the Spring Yards but those are just obstacles in the way of getting gud. Its a Low barrier to entry high skill ceiling Sanic game. And at wide screen and 60 fps its just that much more fun. Honestly Who cares about Tails and the spin dash was in the original it just wasn't as smooth.

All the good episodes of Transformers don't use the kids, and Beast Wars is the best version of Transformers specifically because it doesn't use the kids. The Marvel Comics are great but the only humans that were cool in them were villains like Circuit Breaker, or the time Gears teamed up with Spider-Man. Shoehorning humans or even humanoid aliens to try to humanize the stories, rather than to actually move the plot forward, was always a mess. Plus it was just plain confusing once they started fusing as Headmasters and stuff. Really kills the impact of Optimus Prime being a hero when actually there's some old man alien controlling him from the inside or some shit.

It's like Chris Thorndyke was only in Sonic X to ruin its chances of being the only good Sonic adaptation.

Shadow has only had one significant role since his solo game, and it was in '06, where he was actually cool as shit. Ever since he's been relegated to cameos.

It still happened on some level, it's just been relegated to an alternate timeline now. Either way, the stuff that happens in its backstory, such as Shadow joining GUN, still make enough sense. All '06 did with Shadow's character was follow through with the end of the previous game, where he got over himself and stopped being a bitch. So after that he's just a stoic badass. Too bad it was '06, and nothing that was in '06, except for Sonic himself, is allowed to be significant again, including Shadow.

It's fucking sad how "undead Shadow" was at his best in that game.

That also literally causes the most obvious paradox ever: Solaris can't be blown out if the reasons for it to happen never transpired. It's like people don't think of the most simple fucking logic of cause and effect that's a staple of time travel shenanigans.

Even despite the ending, the events of Sonic 06 still factually exist in some other chronological plane or dimension where Elise either said "Fuck it, let's just try stopping this again, so I get that knot" or Mephiles simply failed to kill Sonic.

I know the OVA movie isn't canon but I want Sara to come back in some way. Mostly because her existence as a half-human/cat girl chimera raises so many questions. Also I do like the idea of floating continents co-existing with the world below. With chaos emeralds anything is possible.

Bowser Jr. is just supposed to be a more childish version of King Koopa, since his characterization nowadays is more akin of a bumbling but evil dad who makes puns every once in a while. I think they got this idea after Mario Party started making him more of a troublemaker than an actual threat, and Bowser Jr. is supposed to be part of his older character as pure evil, but with a touch of childishness because they want the E audience.

Bowser and Eggman's characterization constantly change depending on game/series/whatever. While Forces might make for a more sinister Eggman, he was lighten up a bit more post-Sonic'06 in many portrayals. Likewise, Bowser had a stint of being more threatening in the Galaxy games than the games afterwards. Then is neither good or bad as it can boost or harm the character. Plenty would prefer the more oafish and self-centered Bowser in many of the older RPGs than the bland villain of the recent Paper Mario titles; likewise, many found him in Sunshine way too much of a doofus compared to even the more fun-loving Bowser of 3D World.

That said, I do like Mike Pollock's current voice stylings for Eggman.
