Blue Gate is a fucking nightmare to try to clear. It says something when I managed to gain almost eight levels as Ashgo in there. Required dungeon in Tsugunai. Ashgo broke a holy mirror and got sent into that hellhole for Blue Magic Stones to refine into a new one. Only, that place is super fucking dangerous and a good sign that if you don't start being extremely observant, and fast, you're not going to make much progress. Tons of obnoxious enemies, especially in floors 3-7, but then for some reason after that it gets a bit easier with things you've fought before, including degraded bosses. But then the bosses (plural) at the end are close to being able to two-shot you if you don't immediately understand what's going on. No save point either. At least it seems that that was the last dose of "I actually did it" Ashgo needed, because his confidence will never falter anymore (and thus you have no reason to possess him anymore either).

Found a new character, a big guy named Raffer. He's slow as shit and has next to no magic potential (leaving your MP best used for healing) but incredibly strong.

I wish there was a good place to fish around here. Sounds comfy to sit down at a dock and listen to some podcasts or vidya soundtracks and catch fish.

Played that via the GBA port. I didn't think it was bad (aside from that fucking tower you have to climb like three fucking times because the boss automatically rewinds time to put you back in town), just pretty bland. Also a number of localization changes as was par-for-the-era, but even with the script having been outsourced to Square (and thus Woolsey), it still felt really dry. Though, to be fair, I'd say BoFI's English script was a lot better than BoF2's official one. The sequel has an entire retranslation patch for good reason.

It's honestly surprising how enjoyable a defensive-oriented battle system can be, and makes the game surprisingly feasible to only be having a single playable character at a time with. Fights can be tense, but if you know how to play well, it's not overwhelming.

I have and have played through RS2 on SFC multiple times and it's not that hard to translate since most of it is menu's and limited dialogue - thank god its much much more terse than FF - but yeah that's why I post it here and not on some other forum. I could translate that game decently in about 2 weeks, a month would make it polished. But then again you have a point because they just re-released the updated localized port of RS2 so maybe they are cracking down on it, but who knows maybe they'll like it so much that they'll give me a job or suck my dick either one works.
