Why is it that theres no good multiplayer games anymore?

Pirates Vikings Knights 2
Mountain Blade
Alien Swarm R (for maybe a week or so)
A Secret World

Multiplayer is only good when it's either Bat shit crazy or everyone is on equal footing.
Most multiplayer games like Moba shit try and go for some in between that Can't work.

Also playing on a couch with friends is infinitely more enjoyable then playing on line.

casuals

Runescape is pretty good.

Lowest common denominator.

Well if you consider it Multiplayer, Tekken 7 is pretty good also I've heard that Killing Floor 2 is fun, I've yet to try it myself though.

no

W-what about Siege?

Siege is shit, just saying before all the Ubishit casuals who play that garbage come in.

Multiplayer is a thing of the past outside of maybe fighting games and the occasional Kart Racer (so basically just Mario Kart since kart racers are practically a dead genre). Now all you have is online, which is garbage. If you're not in the same room as me, you're not real, and I might as well be playing against AI. At least then I don't have to wait in cues and deal with lag and get disconnected when i'm winning.

You're doing AIs a disservice. I'm fairly certain Quake bots are still more intelligent than the average "gamer".

...

there are, it's just no one plays them.
Twisted Metal is the most patrician arena shooter ever made, and yet there's only one server up right now with only six people in it and they kick me because I'm low rank ;_; How am I supposed to climb the ranks if I can't play?
Similarly, Natural Doctrine has zero users online consistently, I think even at launch it was dead, despite being one of the greatest RPG's of our generation and having a very deep trading card system made specifically for the multiplayer.

…By the way, does anyone want to play twisted metal?

OpenAI is working hard to save us from the cancer that is multiplayer games.

How the fuck is it that in the last 10 years we've not progressed, and arguably even regressed in online multiplayer?

Fuck off

...

...

Why are you here user? Do you want me to explain to the T why you're an idiot?

...

Jesus lurk more.

makes me think

Because good multiplayer is really fucking hard to pull off and modern vidya developers are nowhere near up to the task. Hell, few were up to the task during vidya's heyday. But there are a number of great multiplayer games out there like Warheads I will never not have a soft spot for it, Holla Forums just doesn't want to play any of them.

Anime board? I thought this was a board for ethics in video game journalism.

wew. Another great multiplayer game Holla Forums will never play. See also, Subspace Continuum.

Because the modern gamur ruined mulitplayer for everyone. See the modern MMO.

QUIET YOU FUCKING IDIOT. THE LAST THING I NEED IS FOR THAT GAME TO BE POPULAR.

Matchingmaking is cancer, ranked matchmaking is super cancer and med-resistant AIDS at the same time. Multiplayer games are best with a server list and nothing else. If you're good, you don't need to accumulate internet points like a redditor to prove it.

why save multiplayer, if the multiplayer is garbage?

Dragon's Crown was fun.

So right now we are living in the golden age of Holla Forums?

Nice reddit chart.

That game is fucking awesome.
Shame for the missions being so short, it really breaks immersion to be stopped so frequently.

What eldritch horror spawned this bait?

I'd love to leave multiplayer games for a while, but killing AI in singleplayer games gets old and linear in no time for me.
What are some long-rewarding dynamic SP games (asides from roguelikes) where the AI and scripted events are unpredictable? No NMS-tier procedural generation.

There were no good multiplayer games ever.

Neotoyko and day of infamy are pretty good, and siege would be great if ubishit didn't have it's claws into it

If it's one branch of vidya that has remained constant in quality, it's definitely multiplayer.

...

Shill please go.

No need to hype it up so much but I did enjoy the game from what I've played. I still need to beat it someday. They called it the Dark Souls of TRPGs but no Dark Souls player could beat this unless they actually learned how to play. Which is why reviewers constantly berated it for being too hard. "It's too punishing!" yet they give you so many checkpoints that you never have to restart a stage once you get past the first section.

Sure - PSN?

The point of ranked isn't points, it's to put you against people closer to your skill level. A good ranked system anyway.

Thanks, most fun in multiplayer I've had in a while.

I smell a low effort template tread, or even lower effort recommendation tread. But what the hell, It's a good topic.

There are a lot of good multiplayer games, I think even more than ever before. The thing is that they are a very small percentage of the over all multiplayer games.
Good games in general are getting harder and harder to find because of the absolutely insane amount of games coming out, and the gaming press is making it still harder by worshiping the preorder hype loving clickbait gods.

Somehow I read that the "Lewdest common demoninator". Well, one can dream…

A bunch of my friends were hyped about it when it got announced in japan only to ignore it after NISA announced that they were the ones localizing it.

Double Action a.k.a Specialists stand-alone

gmod still exists, user

KF2 is a damn fun game. I've had no problems with it except for the grind class to get abilities system. Just because there's an SJW faggot as a playable character doesn't make the entire game bad.
