Final Fantasy VII is the most overrated game of all time, and I get tired of all the modern FF "fans" who only swoon after FF went 3D. They talk about how great FF7 was, and condescendingly shit on the FF games that came before it.

Before Aerith died there was characters who died for similar reasons in previous FF games, it's not groundbreaking at all for her to die. In fact, she was only with you for something like 7 hours. In Final Fantasy V you have Galuf, who is with you from the beginning. He's reliable, you need him, and after 20 hours the game kills him off in a self-sacrifice. His stats are most suited to being a tank, so when he dies, your party suddenly has a big power vacuum because the guy who was soaking up the damage is gone. And then after a couple more hours, his grand daughter shows up to replace him, but she starts back at level 1, and her stats are similar to Butz' stats, so she's not a tank.

Then we look at Final Fantasy VI and we remember that of that 7 hours, she spends 4 1/2 of it missing. So in actuality, you got to use Aerith 2 1/2 hours, and then she dies, and people act like her death was so traumatic. And then just to pander to retarded shippers, they added some forced drama bullshit into FF7: Advent Children where Tifa loves Cloud, but Cloud can't move past losing Aerith.

And the final culmination of that stupid fucking movie is Cloud learning to move on, and giving Aerith back to his friend Zach before his geo stigmata is cured and he goes super faggot against Sephiroth.

And now they want to remake the game, and it's just going to be reference and retcon the game, and the level of pandering that will be there will be so offensive… But it will be so lowest common denominator that the modern FF "fan" will love that shit, and call it a masterpiece.

After watching this video in the , I just realized that the reality of the game industry is MUCH worse than people are letting themselves believe because companies are very much willing to go back and alter/censor their own games that have been on store shelves for years.

While censoring between regions is a pain-in-the-ass that everyone knows about, how many people know about how Nintendo has gone and altered the rereleases of the original The Legend of Zelda. When rereleasing Pokémon Yellow on the Virtual Console, they also altered Jynx's appearance. Now, this is just restricted to a change as simple as a…translation hack (And, it has been confirmed that the ROMs remain unaltered, so it's something in the emulator changing the outputted product). However, here is the kicker, they've altered Wave Race 64. A full 3D game has been altered in it's "release of the original title".

This has me questioning at what extent can they take it. While I seriously doubt they'll blatantly change a game upon it's "rerelease", I do think they'll change all of the little stuff first before they drop the bomb and change everything else entirely to fit the narrative that they want it to. And, what will people be able to do? Find an original copy of the game to hold up? "But the company claims that this is the original version of the game, and you pirated that so I'm calling the police (Since finding physical versions of vintage games is an expensive hobby, and we have assholes like those who are seeking out and destroying 'Every single copy of Shaq-Fu')." And, given the fact that we have those who can give less of a damn about the original and only hold up the "remake", what's one to do?
