Critical bug fixes coming in XCOM 2 cxpansion not being shared with base game

It's finally happened. Pay for your game to not run like shit.

Fug

"Code base was rebuilt" bitch please. You don't just throw out an entire code base to fix a fucking bug.

...

...

...

made me kek

...

Welcome to the wonderful world of what Xbox Arcade developers had to put up with!

Except patches were shipped with expansions before the internet was a thing

Happy?

What did you expect from an expac called "War of the (((chosen)))"?

le keq

patches are now drm, pc gaming lmao

...

beginning of new era, paid patches

what's the problem goy :^)

If they fixed the code base does that mean it'll have ultrawide screen support now? My only complaint was that it didn't have one out of the box. I had to mod shit and whatever. It was a fun game though I doubt I'll be buying this shit for more than $10.

It's called War of the (((Chosen))), what did you expect?

Fuck, I'm not original at all.

Reddit is truly the port of call of every bottom feeder on the internet.

...

Reminder that this game is such a lazy ass reskin it even has the same bugs and exploits from EU.

I remember seeing that thread, holy shit, what a bunch of cucks.

Explain?

That's the hard to believe part for me tbh
also
are they batshit ijsane?

They know their market.

The rest would be just complaining about how much of a shit game 2 and by defenition EU was and even then I'm not even sure if the last one is intended or a bug.

This is the same shit that happened with Enemy Within. My best guess is they're worried about mods breaking. Even though most of them have been designed around not overriding jack shit.

Thank consoles.
on Xbox and PS4 dev is allowed only 1 patch per month.

Maybe they should stop shipping games that have not passed beta phase.

I'd fuck a Chosen

I really couldn't get into XCOM 2, I could deal with the timed missions but all that flying around with waiting time for everything with a million different warnings popping up every hour threw me off the entire thing.

It means that if a patch accidentally creates an immensely game-breaking bug then you have to wait 30 days before you can actually play the game that you just paid for. So if someone accidentally mixes up something simple as an equals sign and decides "lol why the fuck would I need to test it, all I did was change values" then you can end up with a game where everyone spawns dead and you can't progress as a result.

This isn't the first time devs pulled something like this. In beyond earth the base game had many issue like balancing and dumb AI that could be patched easily.

Instead they patched all of that in their $40 DLC

That game was so shit I even forgot it existed.

Pc scum 1 months before xcom 2 release:
Pc scum a year or so after release:
PC scum confirmed as niggers of the industry once again.

Consoles ruin everything by merely existing. This is fact.

all the best games are produced for consoles and they provide the best environment for development.

frankly pc needs to ketchup, lack of a first party has made the platform highly unappealing for expensive developments and the sales just aren't there.

You're asking to get fucked harder than a swede without a burka.

Also I myself don't buy them, what I was stating is a simple fact

Come on now

It's like the tale of the intelligent nigger, if it's smart then it wouldn't be a nigger.

If you want to shit up threads then, by all means, you are welcome to do it, just do it on halfchan. You know very well what I meant with that and chose to ignore it.

its being a long time since we have to pirate patches, user.

what

Isn't the base game already terrible? Haven't heard of people jacking off over it like the last one, which didn't win me over anyway.

Paradox pioneered that long ago with HOI3, iirc one of their expansions improved the ai and added many improvements that should've been a patch.

Good choice

Microsoft is the first party. FH3 almost made my buy into the Windows 10 meme. But I resisted.

Enjoy having the literal worst RTS/RTT/4x and Space games. Not to mention all the racing games that are better on PC, all the flight combat games (barring Ace Combat, since that's still the best arcade flight combat game I've played and the only PC release thus far was not good) and the options that open up with fighting games.

After typing all that out, I realized you have to be baiting, but fuck it.

I'll take "what is decades of the Sims franchise courtesy of EA," Alex.

Well I think that's it, I think that has finally forced me out of this hobby. I guess I'll pick up garage kits or something

its snek all over again

Call me when there's as much fanart.

your taste is awful and I'm convinced you have fun by just using windows explorer

So does your stomach hurt when you swallow bait like that or are you just used to it by now?

glad I pirated it :)

What movie is that from?

It's from a Jontron review.

it's from JonTron's review of the animated Titanic movie

Thanks

...

I was going to buy that as well, I might just forget about it and play BSG: Deadlock instead.

Fuck that fat nazi faggot.

He can't be a nazi he's not white :^)

...

As long as piracy is still a thing I think we can still hold on by the tip of our fingers.

Alt left faggot detected

...

I wish they'd have just said the real reason was that they just don't feel like it. Nothing will change either way, so seriously, just come out and say that you don't give a shit about the consumer - like a battered wife, they'll come back for more anyway!

It honestly reminds me why I left the hobby many years ago myself. I've saved so much time and money since I did and haven't looked back. You're doing a good thing by leaving it behind - it's really the only option we've got.

The shit today isn't even worth pirating IMHO.

You tell me

At this point I think the snake tits were just a viral marketing campaign.

I imagine there being one old-school exec sitting in the meetings and shaking his head while they're saying 'yeah the game will be shit but we're putting tits on the vipers so it will still sell' and now slowly drinking himself into an early grave.

Who knows.

Courting the furry vore community will surely keep them afloat!

of course it was. every single bit of it was.

and it was shit the entire time.

People were actually dumb enough to believe the whole porn stopping Evolve marketing shit so of course someone took advantage of that blind spot. Snake tits was a Goldberg production from day one.

Game releases in like 9 hours or so.

The best one already came out over 20 years ago.

B-b-but muh Propaganda posters.
Do they really expect the posters to be that popular and not just incredibly annoying?

It seems kinda fun like, showing your influence is spreading.

But I had that feeling ruined for me when I saw they show up in "lost" cities as well (Places that haven;t had humans in it for over 20 years). Shitty game programming.

Just shut up and buy it you stupid goy. You always do.

Imagine if Xcom weren't made by morons, maybe 100% would legitimately be a 100% to hit and not have a chance to miss.
Plus, they would see the obvious solution to gameplay problems they are currently facing.

I think they finally fixed that atleast. 100% means they can't be dodged or missed in anyway now.

is it finally safe to say that xenonauts isn't the worst xcom game now?

Still doesn't stop it from being Xcom 1 reskinned. Basically nothing was changed except for a few OP classes like Assault and Sniper and OP armour like Archangel.

It's like I'm really back in the 90s!

What's the source of your gif, my nigga?

Cancer is cancer.

the fly II, my dude.

ayy lmao

a lamia that's half snek half human is not furry, the human characteristics outweigh the animal. You are well within your right to dick it.

that thing is 100 percent fucking furry or furry derivative. The snek portion is 90 percent with 10 percent human. If you dick it, that'd be faggy and wrong.

...

Good thing no one cares about what you think is faggy and wrong

the guy chest deep in water is objectively wetter than the guy waist deep.

the vipers from xcom are more like naga than lamia, they're animals first and for most with human like characteristics. just like all furries.

are WH40K fags annoying? signs point to yes

girls in cosplay :^)

It's out

The entire game was re-made from the ground up, so the entire thing needs to be redownloaded. There's nothing in the original release that's compatible with War of the Chosen's engine framework.
I'm kind of surprised they did a DLC release rather than jacking the price up even higher and trying to claim it was XCOM 3 or some shit.

I'm expecting the performance fixes to be non existent too.

you're telling me they had to change the file format of the textures? the sound files? the fucking cutscenes?
no, it's just that these fags don't know how to do a delta patch, or just don't care to.

If streamers are to be believed, the performance issues are still there. So nothing was fixed.

Ugly.
Unpure.
Degenerate.

This but unironically.
Furries need to be burned.

Why would we ever be ironic about the furry genocide? All furfags need to yiff in hell.

Shit I'm playing War of the Chosen now and audio is broken as fuck

Wew, day 1 and it already needs a patch.
How's the performance?

Stuttery but playable. The video is fine but goddamn, any audio bit that goes on longer than about ten seconds devolves rapidly into gibberish.

Gameplay seems to work fine though. I just wish I knew what the fuck was going on in any of these cutscenes. They suffer the worst.

The cutscenes are working fine, it's just artistic and postmodern and you're not intelligent enough to understand it.
-t. Firaxis

Firaxis, I'm a human, I don't speak machine code.

01010000011011000110010101100010

01100110 01100001 01100111

Keep going you're almost becoming a person.

I've held back and never pirated a videogame. However, this is definitely the breaking point.

Of course, Firaxis games suck anyway.

Guys, I think they actually changed something from the base game, a shot can hit multiple people in a row now. Just shot a spectre and an Advent commander with a single shot from an Archon.

Cant wait until they start selling individual game files one by one.

That's earmarked for the next expansion. Don't forget to buy that one too, goy!

Thinking…. 🤔

...

Most games nowadays are shit and not even worth downloading.

still plenty of old games not worth paying for but worth playing imo

then again I haven't bought a game in years now

Yet you could still order diskettes with patches for free if need be.

Calling it piracy when the game is no longer being sold is just being silly.

You can also just buy old games.

...

So is it any good? Is it worth it for being the same damn price as the main game?

wew what a gay

Some things are improved, the loading times are noticibly shorter. Instead of waiting 2 mins, you now wait 10 seconds.
It also stole the fatigue system from Long war, and the Sitreps means that missions feel less samey. The retaliation missions have been massively improved and the Alien Rulers are no longer as annoying. Problem is that now it's easier than ever to make an OP team, especially when you combine Covert Action rewards, the new training centre, breakthroughs and the Chosen weapons. And this is just for regular soldiers. The special faction soldiers are OP out of the box and when they fall behind your regular soldiers, can still perform a vital role such as scouting.

I'll just wait for the repack, these file sizes are becoming insane

Care to explain in more detail about this is?
Please oni-fam.

Please no one spoonfeed this shit eater. He's going to give money to Firaxis for this game and he can't even be bothered to look up the most basic details of it on his own first.

I just wanted to know about the game. Don't project you weak will power onto me, giganigger.

Is this a joke?

It's literally on the xcom 2 official page, it was one of the things they were advertising.

are you underaged or something?

It's like you don't remember what you just posted mere seconds ago. Could you please explain why I would give them money?

paying for PC games especially. At least on consoles you have ownership.

And you know what, with the hundreds of games I played in the 90s which didn't have internet patching, most of them worked, I hardly every encountered a glitch and nothing was ever broken for me.

Except maybe Black and White.

Doesn't help if you buy games like Diablo 3 that require an internet connection even for single player games. Doesn't help even if you have the disc when they shut down their servers. MS and Sony tried to push for an always online component but they backpedaled due to consumer backclash. Even if you own a copy of the game you're not really an owner of the game. You only have a license to play it.

...

Stop trying so hard to fit it and just don't be such a useless faggot in the future.

Why is it that the more money you spend making a game the worse it becomes? Fucking Xenonauts doesn't have any game breaking bugs that I have come across and that's a fucking indie game

The more money there is, the higher the chance of attracting a parasite.

yeah, no one can forget the time nintendo and sony sent out agents to every owner of PS1 and super nintendo games games to confiscate them after the licenses expired and they started being offered on the virtual console and PSN store.

Oh wait. But we can all remember the time valve and EA took the liberty to flex that line of the EULA that your software license can be canceled at any time for any reason and did exactly that.

Also you can play Diablo 3 offline (if you really wanna play that meth addict shit) on consoles. Are you the guy that thinks if you damage your physical copy to be unusable it should be replaced by the first party?

I'm not disagreeing with you or anything, just pointing out that that website has been around for-fucking-ever and is 100% legal.

No

meant for

yeah, I agree, pirate PC games. if you can own something, go for it if you have the money.

That's because QA used to be a thing before the internet made devs lazy fucks that just say "Oh it's ok that the game doesn't work we can just patch it later."

they still did patches at the time, but there was a lot more pressure to get it right the first time around because of how complicated and difficult it was to patch copies. There's numerous revisions out there for some games that they distributed in re-releases. PC games too always got patches, that's old news, but even then to their credit were better than modern PC releases in a technical sense.

Well yeah but the point is that it was harder to patch copies even back in 2004 because you had to actually get people to go and download the patch. Now everything updates itself so devs have gotten lazy and just throw out broken shit games willy nilly and fix them when they feel like it. Although now it seems like they won't fix their shitty broken games unless you buy it again now.

a lot of games back in 2004 used launchers that autodetected patches. They did that for a while before then too and some games used the game itself or you had the slight speed bump of finding out the game servers been updated and you're playing on an older version. Either way it was never more than fly by the game's website, download patch installer.exe and run it.

Even in 2004, games were usually a bit more stable compared to what we get today. Not denying these things exist or anything, but even as far back as the 1980s patches (or revisions as they were known at the time) were a thing.

Having to buy a not-fucked version of the game at a later point is still an unusual thing and doesn't really happen too often which is why it's an exceptional thing worth discussing.

But user is right when he says devs have gotten lazy. How many games in the past year alone had, sometimes massive, day one patches? They just want to ship the thing out the door as fast as they can, once the game hits gold they think they can just spend the time making the day one patch and fuck everyone over when they have to waste time downloading a multi GB "patch" without which the game is nearly unplayable. Guess the fact they're hiring clearly incompetent staff also doesn't help. Pajeets have ruined the software industry simply by virtue of existing.

The interface is slicker and faster, visuals are improved and framerate issues seems to be fixed (only took them a yeah and a half. wew.) Several mods were stolen incorporated into the new build, such as Second Wave options, Squad Cohesion/Soldier Bonds, and some minor tweaks.
I haven't seen any of the new story content yet, but I'm only a couple of missions deep so far. I've seen one new tileset - an abandoned subway station - and it was pretty good.
They also spiced up the map for Gatecrasher quite a bit, mainly giving it a more interesting layout with more z-levels and more complex sight lines.

The propaganda photo booth thing is kind of entertaining, I guess, but I can't decide if it's a pointless distraction or if it actually fits in with the game. Can you eventually disseminate these posters and affect some kind of "popular opinion" global stat or something? Or is it purely for the me-mes?

happens pretty often and I'm not happy about it either. In that sense I'm glad re-releases are a thing like GOTY editions and greatest hits releases. These are usually pre-patched copies.

Considering how hrd all the viral marketers were pushing it, it's for the me mes.
Gotten the Alien Biosphere yet? That's a pretty looking biome.

>While making a game called War of the (((Chosen))).
You can't make this shit up. They're not even trying to be subtle.

its just pure coincidence

And yet the cattle is buying the game so much it's a number one steam seller right now.

I havent finished xcom 2 vanilla yet, should I scrap my campaign and start over with this ?

...

They turn up in mission apparently replacing some of the more generic advent and resistance posters and wanted holo-displays.

At least try the Alien Rulers in their original form. This way you can appreciate how much better they're done this time.

Funny thing is that they ship games bugged KNOWINGLY. Its not like in the old days when gamers discovered these things.

I don't understand it myself, you'd think that at a certain point gamers stop buying broken games from shitty devs.

So how long until we have to pay for patches?

Did that once after getting tier 3 armour and weapons. Never again.

There's no reliable proof that P.T. Barnum ever actually said that. So I guess it's still true anyway.

I haven't seen much of anything yet. I just completed the first mission against the Lost and met Riker, Worf and Troi.
Most of what I'm noticing is just how many mods got ripped off. True Concealment Mod is incorporated into Faction Orders, units such as Advent Priests are ripped straight out of A Better Advent Mod, and so on. Every time something 'new' pops up, it's a coin flip whether it was actually from a popular mod or not.

At least they're used for something in-game, I guess.

I appreciated something, alright. I'm just not sure what. Maybe it just appreciated me.
I mean better, sure, but god damn. There's no balance here one way or the other.

So from my admittedly tiny sample size, it seems like the new alien rulers either one-shot your entire mission, or have their entire mission one-shotted. Neat-o.

Those aren't rulers, that's a (((Chosen)))' Rulers were the enemies that had 200 hp and took a turn everytime your soldiers took an action.

Oh, gotcha. Yeah, that 6-actions-per-turn mechanic made my ass hurt immensely.

Lucky you, I got an Alien ruler on VIP missions every time. And the VIP always died just before the ruler was about to flee. I fucking hate Ironman, don't try it.

I've done successful ironman legend playthroughs, but I never bothered with ironman with alien rulers enabled.

Actually there used to be a time when AAA games were being developed primarily for PC.

Nowadays its all Steam and that ecosystem is only really good at microtransactions/loot crates/skins. It is pretty sad to be old.
