NIHON FALCOM THREAD, "Captain Towa" edition

Don't forget to support the games (or not if it's a NISA release) and spoiler the spoilers!

Specially Xanadu Next. That masterpiece deserves bigger sales.

You need the dummy files or the new Audio XSeed added will be in English because the nips never recorded that much.

- Sen no Kiseki/Trails of Cold Steel III trailer has dropped: youtube.com/watch?v=fr-8b6S6HOQ
- Trails of Cold Steel I is out on PC on both Steam and GoG; ToCS II is also confirmed for PC with no release date available, though dialogue recording has started. Most guess some time around December or January.
- Tom on ToCS for PC: has its own separate launcher, "far more feature-rich than any other launcher we've ever had in any of our PC games to date" " There's not much you CAN'T do in that launcher." "You can tweak bloody EVERYTHING." It's also got a turbo mode that lets you speed up the game 4x, which is pretty sweet. It also runs butter smooth. Seriously, this port is great.
- Trails of Cold Steel III is on track for a Japanese release on September 28th of this year, confirmed PS4 exclusive. Check gematsu.com and esterior.net for further details
- Tons of Falcom/Kondo interviews with some interesting details, will eventually make a list and a tl;dr

- Zwei II coming this Summer (supposedly). Check this blog post to discover the game (xseedgames.tumblr.com/post/162167486725/zwei-the-ilvard-insurrection-localization-blog )
- The full Trails in the Sky trilogy is finally on English, available on Steam, GOG and the Humble Store
- Tokyo Xanadu brought by Askys, Vita version has already been released, and the improved Ex+ version for PS4 and PC on late 2017, although Amazon has November 24th, 2017 listed
- Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana brought by NISA, If you wish to complain, do so to Falcom, not XSeed (they're upset about it too). Good Japanese grammar is extremely recommended

- Trails to Zero fan tl at 30%. Ao is 51% translated, but not edited at all yet. A beta of the Zero TL from 2015 was leaked. It is full of typos and sounds like robots are talking, but it is at least coherent from start to finish. Play only if you are desperate. Machine TL of Azure has also been released, and it is as terrible as you would expect. It is completely unintelligible.
- The Legend of Xanadu I & II Dub Project announced, English tl patches coming in the next months ( tg-16.com/The_Legend_of_Xanadu_Dub_Project.htm )
- Also in the works: Zwei!!, Dinosaur Resurrection, Vantage Master Japan, Dinosaur Resurrection and Brandish 2 Renewal (PC-98)

To make things even worse, that kind of behavior is financially incentivized because they can charge the dev more for "localization" than "translation" - so they're ripping off everyone as hard as they possibly can when doing this.

And the worst part is- WHY DO THE DEVS NOT UNDERSTAND THIS AND SAY "NO?"

Towa a best.

She's not even my favorite grill, but I felt like making a Towa thread. Also, Juna's pantsu are yellow.

Because they don't understand English?

Because no one understands English or America at all, and assumes they're all just crazy psycho religious nutjobs beyond the ken of normal people. I've had one of my students, a businessman for a bank, ask me how to deal politely with the whole gender thing after a trip to Silicon Valley, because you can guess what kind of crazies he must have met there. They're aware the West is full of crazed idiots, so they just assume this is what you have to do to make money off them probably.

I want to hold a seminar for every Japanese dev where I want to explain to them that, no, the majority of Americans are not like that, and in fact dislike that stuff. These people are just loud and forced their way into chokepoints and gatekeeping positions to make their numbers seem more numerous than they are. Lewd stuff still sells well here. Fire Emblem would have sold the same, if not even better, if they left all the other stuff in. These people are just ideologues and do not represent the majority of the gaming public.

If only we could get over the language barrier and find some way to tell devs this.

Yes, I know this is reddit, but still.
RIP

The problem is that people who like video games aren't the targets when devs look at "the Western audience" - they want the normalfags who makes garbage like CoD or GTA or Madden sell 8 digits.

Yeah the last thread had the guy who was reporting this basically telling the thread what he saw as he played. While it may not be as bad as a meme translation, it's still terrible and sadly stuff like this tends to get a "good enough" response from the mouth-breathing normalfags. See, this is why I want Falcom to stay niche in the west.

If they think that's their audience, then they don't know their actual audience.

Those numbers are the only reason anyone gives a damn about the West, sad to say.

I hate when any localization team does this. Iclucia is fine, why the fuck would you engrish it? Let's also change this very well worded name and call it the Big Hole instead.

That's not true, because those normalfags don't actually play nip games. That said, nips are becoming increasingly reliant on western dosh. In fact, I think the last Ys game sold better here than in Japan, which is why Falcom is suddenly so interested in getting stuff over here. There is a market for nip games here, the nips just don't seem to realize who that market is exactly, so they listen to their "western partners." See: pic related.

When's Falcom gonna make a USA branch?

With luck the way it is, it'd be infested with people who don't know how to properly localize games. There is no escape from this faggotry unless you want to drop years into learning a new language.

What the fuck?

Do they not understand how Iclucia rolls off the tongue? Or how cool "Iclucian Dance" sounds?

Maybe they like to lament about flying too close to the sun.

True, but corporate executives don't see "this is an audience we just can't have" they see "we need to figure out how to get money out of this audience." Welcome to business.

AAA guys like Capcom and such are, which is why they're going down the toilet so hard. For most mid-size developers though, they still can't afford to not make their money back at home.

Whaaat? The main guy at Examu knows a little bit of English though. Though he was indeed in the vague about America, thinking he should censor his own game to make it sell better.

Just finished the first Ys game (Chronicles version). It was more fun than I expected, I didn't think I'd like the bump system, but I got used to it pretty quickly. Didn't take long to finish either. Fuck that final boss though, it was basically a mash up of a bullet hell and Pong.

That sounds pretty bad. Wonder if it'll be one of those games where you can buy the digital English version and play the Japanese version by switching the PS4's system language? Probably not, that'd be too easy.

You can switch to Japanese text on Steam. That's what I'll be doing if it's really as bad as what people said.

Oh that's nice. I don't often see that with PC games, so I figured it wouldn't be a feature.

Falcom fucking sucks.
at marketing

It's a feature in a lot of Japanese games on Steam lately. Basically anything by Degica, NISA and all the Marvelous games have this option. I believe Cold Steel also let you do that too.

Well that's nice. I haven't bought any games from those companies aside from the Trails in the Sky series. Nice to know about Cold Steel, though I'm a long way off from playing it; I need to go through Zero and Ao first.

It's more like their games are hard to market than anything, but I agree.

"A little bit" isn't enough for the purposes we're talking.

Ys 1 and 2 are crazy fun. I'm hoping the rest of the series lives up to how good they are, but I haven't been able to find a way to play the PC-88 version of Wanderers as of yet, so I'm rather stuck there.

That's what you should do with any and all Western releases of games you accidentally buy. Be careful though, if what I've heard is true there are cases where even the Japanese text gets censored for the Western release, like Bravely Default.

私たちのパンツを返してよ!

Location name changes aren't that bad and they're commonly seen in translations. With how Nips write their names and how good they are at English, it could even be they were intending them to look like this in the first place. That's not an issue for me, the real problem with the names is not that they were slightly changed, but that they look less unique as a result. I remember several Eternias for instance, like in He-Man I think, there was one in Bravely Default/Second for sure. Why change something more unique into something not so?
Either way that's so minor I'm not going to bother pretending I care for that. The worst and true bad is Big Hole which really is a shit change for no reason, before it it sounds cool, after that it simply doesn't. It honestly sounds like a weird gaping asshole porn name. Just why?

Steam says it has Frog, Nip and English already in the game, so maybe it'll be changeable in a menu inside. No baguette bakery sounds though

It's not a case of censorship though, it's mostly people saying the translation might not be so good.

Oh fuck you're right. I might actually go for French text then.

Doesn't matter why the translation isn't trustworthy, all that matters is that it's never trustworthy. Read things for yourself rather than letting other people tell you what it says.

We talking about the Japanese text itself.

Right, I'm saying to read the Japanese text yourself, rather than some chucklefuck's "translation"

...

Why are we even arguing then?

I think something got lost in communication somewhere along the line.

...

Shite, 2ch is giving out the game's file size, meaning fake and real story leaks are probably about to start popping up. I'm going on my Trails blackout now. See you faggots when the second Calvard game comes out and the west finally gets CS3.

Yeh possibly. I'll probably play it in JP, or I might go for French for the giggles, because FR translations are so rare for AA games still.

This.

The world is not one village yet. Japanese and Americans don't understand each other. Japanese devs are smart enough to realize that they can't publish a game in the US without having local knowledge. So they look for a partner.

Also I've checked a few things, so why are you fags not mad at Xseed? If the art sites and Nip vids are correct, they did the same sort of thing.
That's after a quick jewgle of two most recent titles of their sereis, but it's obvious there's bound to be way more. Wanna know why that's so? That's because all translations change shit. At most you might not know what was changed, but something definitely was. Big Hole is awful, but the rest aren't really anything special.

Foliage Ocean is a mistranslation by siliconera.
The actual title was sea of trees, as in a big forest. There is no ocean in the game.

I've looked for it again and nope, Foliage Ocean in Celceta is the official name. Either way, it's definitely not Memories of Celceta, or at the very least we can agree it has nothing to do with any sort of remembrance.

Did you forget the whole amnesia plot and memories?

It's ok when XSEED does it!

They at least won't call a crevice a big hole.

No, but I've meant that the original title has nothing to do with that. It's about a big group of trees whatever way you spin it, whether it's a sea or an ocean of them.
I understand it'd be harder to market Ys with a name like Foliage Ocean in Celceta as some would think it's a gardening simulator because Ys is not exactly a well known franchise, but the fact remains. It's not like they marketted it anyway, too, but whatever. That's the same sort of thing as what NISA's doing to Ys 8 (if not worse as it's the very title you change), except nobody ever said anything bad about Xseed for that. That's because the things both of those companies are doing are typical for localization/translation/edition and the bias is clear. That's why you guys try to pretend changing Iclusia into Icarusia is the end of the world, but similar stuff in MoC is accepted without a single complaint.

They'll take two more years to decide to not call it a big hole, though, and another one-two more to port it to PC.

As someone who doesn't play Ys games, some of those name changes seem reasonable if you're trying to make them less Japanese, which given by Schwarzer being a last name (Which is probably intended to be with a T sound in the original, but I could be wrong), was the intended goal. I don't think there's anything wrong with changing the form as long as pronunciation is the same and you don't change like 4 letters in the name.

The title change doesn't make any sense, unless there's something extra that we don't know about, like says, about it being a big forest already.

Football could use the Russian Ballet loving audience. Therefore we'll just throw tutus on top of the tights they are all wearing. That ought to bring in a few more eyeballs for our advertisements. That is certain to not piss off our customers for imaginary customers.

That is basically how most businessmen in creative entertainment think.

Thank you NISA friends. Now that you have proven that NISA and XSeed are the exact same, and that some slight changes should not be made for the better/made to be less awkward, I will now buy all of NISA's games.

You have truly shown me the light.

Checking for more with playthroughs. Too lazy to list or check everything, but other changes I've noticed in MoC:

Neither of those is significant, but those who've ever asked for 1:1 translations don't even know they've never had a single one in the first place. Summit vs peak is just like hole vs crevice, though, literally replacing one thing with a synonym for no reason. Hole does sound worse than crevice, but it's not like peak sounds better than summit either. Not as bad a choice hole, probably, but a bad and pointless change anyway.
That last greentext is very good and probably this sort of stuff is why localizations change Nip names. Taking away the ability of beasts to have parties shows Xseed hates fun

Rean is from Adventures of Coldsteel, not Ys. Xseed translated that as Trails of Cold Steel to avoid a lawsuit. Second pic related. Just kidding it's sen no kiseki in Nip
If around 4 letters rule is applied, then only the Hole is really a problem from . The rest seems to be about making it look less Nipponese. If a Nip read Iclucia, it'd probably sound same as Icarusia, for instance. All except Kiergaard I guess, but even then Kilgore looks pretty awful and spoken by a Nip it would sound almost same.

The Falcom generals are basically XSEED hugboxes, so it's not surprising. People were defending Cold Steel being dub only again on PC after Aksys and NISA got the Japanese voices for their releases.

Schwarzer is German and means black. (As an adjective, not as a noun.)
The XSeed spelling therefore is correct. The z is pronounced ts in German.

I admit I also don't understand the Icarusia thing, but yeah, a nip saying one or the other would be about the same. Though personally, if a decision was made about how to translate it earlier, why wouldn't you keep that translation unless it's horribly wrong, even if you're a different company?

This is most definitely how the entertainment industry actually approaches things. Think of the last time you saw a crossover of something that wasn't purely fighting games and remember how disappointed you were.

Huh. Either way, I don't think that one's so offensive, yeah. Seems pretty normal to me.

I remember "reviewers" saying Tokyo Xanadu wasn't bad and look how that turned out (oh god why didn't they use the muramasa team for that game). Oh well, maybe Kondo will stop sucking his buddies' cocks for a few minutes and start up a Falcom International.

Maybe Tokyo Xanadu EX+ will be good?

Different series, different contracts.

You can hate Xseed if you want just remember who brought these games here in the first place. Were was your precious Nisa in 2010?

I doubt it, the vita release hasn't even gotten a typo patch.
Fuck it pisses me off because I know Aksys can do fucking amazing work and they fucked off on the one game I wanted them to do good.

but i can't learn japanese

Funny how many people read the Bible in ancient Greek? Reminds me of the Amish.

All specialists.

Yes, we should totally repeat that Xseed is perfection, my fellow not-Xseed fanboy. When they do what NISA does, it's fine because they're XSEED and it had to be done, but when NISA does something just like Xseed, it's obviously the worst thing ever. Everyone who disagrees and points out Xseed's flaws or that they do the same stuff as all other translators clearly works for NISA. Cannot be any other way, they're clearly unique in how much they care, I mean their worker implied so in a blogpost he made. I've never seen such mighty dedication before.

My non-fanboy friend, don't forget to remind everyone you know to buy Xseed's games with all the 20Euro/25 USD of in-game DLC for their freshly ported 4 year old games! Do not forget to tell PC players they're "entitled" and "ungrateful" if they complain at waiting 2-3 more years and still pay the same and for DLCs, too. It's only a thread for those not on NISA's payroll, after all.

Well yeah it is a hugbox, I remember people literally circlejerking over Tom's blogposts, which were basically "we totally care" walls of text. They've mostly stopped that after being called out a few times though, and lately after Xseed goes more and more jewish and their "impossibru" Nip voices claim turned out a lie, it's stopping. You can mostly talk about Xseed's shit now, and that was unthinkable some time ago. All it'll take is one or two more fuck ups like Akiba's Trip witches/Little King's Story port/Fate Extella's inferior PC release and the mood will change even more.

I don't know what I would've done to be honest. If possible I'd ask the Nips what they actually wanted the name to resemble because they can't into English, otherwise I'd do whatever I felt fits best. Probably less changes to names than both Xseed and NISA, though.

You people are fucking childish.

Almost literally all people who want a deeper understanding of the Bible. Just like people who read the Old Testament in Hebrew.

Welcome to imageboards. Hownu.ru?

I wonder if they ever did the first part. Seems prudent. Maybe they were told by Nips "We don't care, just make it sellable." which is where this insertion of ideology comes in.

Hello NISA-friend. Let us be angry at XSeed together for something that's certainly not several years old and certainly not minor in comparison to what NISA has done over the past few years!

No but seriously

Literally the only major thing that was brought up was Foliage Ocean to Memories.

I'm also aware of them changing "Ironbreeds" to "Ironbloods" in CS. They also changed Klose to Kloe in Sky. They were changed for the better. Whether it's better sounding, or easier to pronounce, or correction (such as "Schwarzer").

Do I think XSeed is perfect? No. Their most recent fuck up that I'm aware of: Akiba's Beat's localization is TRASH. It's filth. Do I have a problem with their DLC/prices? Yes, I do. I don't buy them at all. Do I care about dubs/subs? No, I'm not an autist who jerks off over something I don't understand unless the dubs are painful to my ears.

What I'm saying is, don't even try to say "XSeed is the SAME as NISA!" as some people in this thread are doing. Comparing name changes they made (most of which are better, others which are insignificant) to the 1:1 translation NISA is doing, doesn't make XSeed look worse. It makes NISA looks bad.

The fanboyism is getting pathetic though. I've never seen anything like that anywhere but here.

NISA really fucked up these threads.

It's mostly idiots like who fucked up the threads. It's going to be even worse once Ys 8 is released as they'll be bitching about people playing the game because "NO DONT PLAY YS 8!".

Ys 8's been released for months now though.

They are the equivalent of what Other M is to Metroid threads.

I meant in English.

Ah, well, to be fair, you shouldn't be playing Japanese games in English or vice versa regardless of which bloodsucking leech is swindling the devs to scribble over the game.

user, you're very easy to stop in every thread. Learning a language, especially one as as alien to English as Japanese, is extremely difficult, and it gets harder for your brain to do the older you get. It takes years of study to be proficient, and that's if you don't have a lot of other distractions in your life. Believe me, user, if this was the Matrix and we could just all load Japanese into our brains, I don't think you'd see anyone here talking about English releases. But that's not the reality of most of the situation of the anons here. They have to make the best of what they have. So, really, you contribution to this particular topic is worth less than nothing.

Now, if you wanted to talk about actual games, and goddamn I wish someone would, that would be another story entirely.

I want to talk about actual games. Are Lacrimosa's bosses more Celecta/seven where flash guard spamming is enough to get you through nightmare or is it more like the better portions of Felghana/Origin where the bosses very rarely give you time to breath and bombard your ass with attacks that are tricky to dodge and even trickier to counterattack after?

I heard it's in-between. Not too hard but not too easy.

What do you mean? The earliest Xseed fuck up I mention, Extella being outright worse than Switch version and not compensating is from the previous month. Little King is 1 year old and it's port puts fucking Koei Tecmo to shame if the reviews/steam community are any indication, CS ultrajewishness is one month old, Akiba's Trip fuck up is this year. At least NISA's fuck up list is from several years ago while Xseed seems to be going down the big hole :>) of shittiness at an alarming rate, with most of their screw ups being right now. Fags excusing their bullshit are why that happens and why it will keep happening. Don't defend bad practices unless you want more of them.

Your lack of reading comprehension shows and is unsurprising considering what you post. I did say or at least imply the big hole is worse than those you listed several times, but I have to say it's nowhere near as bad as the change of the title, I was defending the other changes which are on about the same level as what Xseed did, and several anons whined at those as if they were the end of the world.
When it comes to that, I could paraphrase you - the only major thing that was brought up was
Big Hole as that's the case so far with Ys8. Everything you've said about pronounciation, etc applies to the other names, like Icarusia clearly is easier to pronounce and better sounding than Iclusia, etc.

Hell, I could even go full drone and paraphrase the "every change Xseed does is for the better and when it's not for the better it was insignificant anyway", but this sort of stupidity is better kept with its creator. Since you lack reading comprehension, allow me to point out that by "its creator" I mean you. Am I being sufficiently clear, or do I have to repeat myself several times like I did with the hole being particularly bad while you still failed to understand?

Fine then, do the highest difficulties or sidequests of Dana expect grinding, or is it like the other PC Yses and not much so? I've not really played a party Ys before.

There was some good art for Fie-day.

Alright, NISA-friend. I was being fucking dumb and I re-read your posts. I'm sorry. I was being an ass in the first place.

I'm fully aware that XSeed does fuck up (I was focusing more on localization than ports, since I'm not really aware of the problems with those). XSeed does seem to be getting worse and they haven't improved their marketing.

I just don't like the alternative either, NISA has always symbolized "what not to do" in terms of localization; and I've been burned badly by them before. I honestly believe that giving them money will just give them motivation to go after games like Trails, and it's likely they'll mess that localization up way more than XSeed might.

Or, maybe I'm just worried in general about losing decent Trails localization in the west so I'm blindly taking it out on the thread.

Anyway, user, I hope the rest of your day is good.

Was fixed this February. Unlike NISA, XSeed actually fixes their fuckups regularly. Durante wrote an interesting blog entry on XSeeds blog about why it was running so bad.
It is the same price as on PSN and the port is really good the time. The DLC is useless and cheaper than on PSN.

So you telling us to miss out on the best Ys games ever (according to importers) just because you have a grudge against NISA? I'm sorry mate, but I'll play the game and you better not start shitposting about the game when it's out in September.

Holy shit you're equating buying the game to playing it. You don't have to give NISA a dime to play the game. No one is telling you to not play the game.

I'm not a fucking pirate sorry, go fuck yourself.

I can't stop who you give your money to.

I myself will probably pirate it or (most likely) buy it used.

Subbed CS3 trailer is here.

Stop user, you're making me feel bad. Let's bury the unneeded hatchet. I understand how you feel, but alas in this industry what's not immediately shitty, usually becomes so with time.
I don't think this estonian eardrummer imageboard can influence if they get Trails or not, though. All I know is all is up to Kondo. I did see NISA's limited edition of YS in Europe is sold out, though. Either it's doing way better than they predicted, or it's a case of not expecting demand. Either way, I'll be honest - if NISA gets CS3, then I won't be surprised at all. Just know Nips are crazy about merch and compare what Ys stuff NISA has on their American store to the things literally ripped out from unsold limited editions on Xseed's. If they do it about as well as they seemingly did Ys 8, then it won't be that bad, and you'll at least get it earlier though. No guarantee any of that's happening, they might fuck up, they might do well, or Xseed might get it anyway so it's pointless to discuss.

I also hope you have a good day, too.

The reviews and steam community disagree, especially recent ones. They are more like "it's better, but still almost unplayable, shit and just play it on Wii". Only the framerate got fixed and only sort of, sprites still go apeshit, certain cutscenes crash games unless you fuck with options and it randomly decides to work at very low resolutions, some stuff crashes always unless you lower the resolution, sometimes it crashes just because, enemies on high framerate are much harder to fight, Just because they've made a blogpost saying all is fine and dandy doesn't mean it is so. Check the Steam before talking. Like I know there's cases where it depends on rigs, some people will always crash just because, but in this case there's too much people saying so for me to believe that.

Like sure, to be fair I've bothered to check now and I see Birthdays the Beginning by NISA is also in a bad state since its release in May, but it's still getting fixes and free DLC (to compensate?), so it's not left alone yet. It might be they've changed a bit over the years, but releasing game in a bad state is inexcusable anyway, whether it's NISA or Xseed, so both are not good, even if what I'm reading about BTB is not anywhere as bad as how LKS came out or still is. If the customers are to be believed the game itself is shit-tier and you run out of things to do after an hour though, literally worse than NMS

user, in this industry late ports are expected to be cheaper or at the very least contain all in-game DLC. Usually both. I can't even think of games that don't follow the rule.

Senran Kagura: Estival Versus (Also done by XSEED for PC, I think) is the same price as PS4 stuff, I think. It does have the perk of actually having Ikki Tousen licences for DLC in the west, but yeah.

KoFXIV and Guilty Gear Rev2 also suffer from the "late port, no discount" for PC players from what I remember, though Xrd Sign did get a mild discount and all DLC included if you bought it the first week, I think.

Musse has gone from "hot for teacher" to "complete yandare" very quickly. Someone needs to call the THOT patrol.

Rev2 came a week later to PC from consoles, how much discount do you want for a single week?

I actually like her a lot. I hope she's not like that just for the sake of it, though. Maybe she was abused when she was younger.

Still won't change me liking her "design", I suppose.

Shit, I think I'm confusing Rev2 and original Revelator. I remember one being several months later and not offering much of a discount.

Maybe I'm only remembering Sign being late but it was an alright deal.

Xrd Sign was an awesome deal, Rev2 was delayed by less than a week and more than fine, Rev1 is the shitty deal. Half a year for this one. For full price you got it with all DLC which was okay, but still bad. By itself the deal was good compared to PS4 base as at the same price you got free DLC with the two -10% discounts combined.
Except PS4 had -50% discounts by then and even on the day it came out, ASW Twitter was only talking about the PS4 discount and all character DLCs, the ones that matter, were free on PS4. Rev2 redeemed them, though, especially now that the patch delay is only one day, and only because of a suddenly found issue. Literally better than AAA Bamco

KOF 14 was 1 year delayed, full price, but contained all DLC at this one. I don't know much about the game myself, but the obviously disguised Spics/Chinks (only KOF players on earth) on fighting game general baited me into buying this only for me to see it die just as I got above 2 hours of gameplay. It's not even better in any way than Tekken/Rev/Blazblue, damnable sombrero suckers had a good laugh out of me I bet

Might have been on sale for $60 on release, but it's not just wholesale included. If you bought it right now, it's $75 on Steam for the game plus DLC.

I mean, I prefer it to Tekken but I also don't like Tekken. And the only airdasher I seem to like are French Bread games, so I'm ambivalent to GG/BB. I got several hours of gameplay on PS4 out of it, though I do prefer 2k2UM for the sheer roster size and that Whip and Ralf have all the moves I need to catch people by surprise in 2k2UM, while Ralf is just okay and Whip doesn't feel good at all in XIV. Never really got to play a lot of XIII with a proper fight pad and the wireless lag for a DS3 apparently really messed me up. XIV is weird because it apparently was designed for wireless pad players, as some of my friends were used to tight timings and were messing up rekkas while I could hit them no problem. Meanwhile, in older games, the opposite is sometimes true.

YOU'RE A BIG HOLE

The PS4/PC version has inferno mode.

(checked)
I kind of hate Juna.

Next, you'll tell me she's also a witch. Or a succubus.

While it's not something you can just plug and play into your brain, you're overblowing how hard it is to get good enough to play video games.

I don't know why people don't get this. There is no reason to give NISA a penny in the current year. They've ran out of second chances ages ago.

I'm not a pirate shitter.

Who said anything about piracy? NISA only handles foreignizations, they don't make any video games.

I don't own a PS4, so I don't have the luxury of being able to buy used.

Who said anything about used? Besides, we're talking about Ys 8, which is a Vita game.

I don't own a Vita either m8.

Don't know how you'd expect to play Ys 8 at all then

On PC.

Ah, it's getting a PC port for foreigners?

Worldwide release on PC.

Not in Japan to the best of my knowledge

In Japan too.

I'm not seeing it up for purchase or preorder on Amazon, so unless this PC release is like a year out or so, or exclusive to Falcom's webstore, it's not a thing.

It's not up for preorder for anyone yet on Steam.

falcom.co.jp/ys8/

Checking Falcom's own site, it says PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation Vita TV

What's Steam?

Wait, Aksys doesn't support their games post launch?

I hate it when game companies do that.

Personally, I prefer back when they didn't have the option and just had to get the game right the first time or eat a humongous loss for releasing something without properly QAing it first. Connecting to the Internet is one of the worst things to happen to vidya.

Obviously.

A translator is supposed to be a specialist. Its funny though. Only in videogames can a localisation company treat its customers like trash.
If anyone dared to put memes in the subtitles or rewrite the script of "Game of thrones" they would be FIRED.

More like localization of Japanese media as a whole, judging from screenshots I've seen of subtitled anime.

Yeah the "we'll patch it later" culture.

Some games have more than a gigabyte of day one patches.

Why the fuck would it be on Falcom's site? NISA is publishing the game worldwide on Steam.

Yeah I wanted to put a Fie wallpaper on my work phone but that could be awkward, no? I have to at least pretend to be professional and mature.

So it IS the foreign version then, and thus pointless.

The fuck you on about? It has Japanese text available.

More like "we'll patch it never" culture. Aksys hasn't patched a single game they've released on Steam. Though we might be a bit in luck with the Steam version since Ghostlight is taking care of the port.

Reportedly even when Japanese text is retained it gets censored by foreign companies in their releases; the example I hear given most being Bravely Default. Either way though, I'm seeing nothing at all about it getting a PC release here, it seems to be a foreign exclusive thing, like Monster Hunter World's PC port.

Niche weebshit costs money. Its nice to see the Steam race learn about Japanese games.

I for one would be pretty pissed if Xseed had released the game on Steam for less than it costs on PSN (their loyal paying audience). I'm sure it will go on sale soon enough though.

Bravery Default is Nintendo though. They censor everything.
And there's been several Japanese sites reporting about Ys VIII being available in Japan on Steam.

Every localizer censors everything, it's just a question of if they've been caught or not.

Again, what's Steam? I've yet to hear a single word about a PC version of 8.

Please don't pretend to be a retard…..
famitsu.com/news/201702/18127293.html

Fair enough then, but it still doesn't say what the fuck Steam is. Though, either way I would have to boycott it simply because I don't want foreignization companies like NISA to exist.

You should just buy from neither one.

It's really nice for the dance scenes to be full voiced. Even the parts before the actual dance, which were mute before.

Stop pretending to be retarded.

I'm sorry I don't know what your favorite… store? Machine? Whatever this thing is, I presume it's not a machine since you said it's a PC thing, unless it's something like the PC-88 where it's a special PC machine, but they haven't made those in ages. Never seen any store by that name around here though, so unless it's some sort of Tokyo only thing, I doubt there are any in Japan.

Please stop, it's getting pathetic. It's pretty clear now that you're just pretending to be Japanese and it's quite sad how bad you're at it.

Don't know what to tell you mate, all I can say is I've never heard of this Steam thing, and regardless it sounds like this PC version of Ys 8 would be giving profits to foreign localization companies, which is something I refuse to do anyway, so it's a moot point regardless.

Are…okay you have to be trolling.

Again, if it's a PC thing, it's probably not big here if it even exists at all - the PC section of most game stores here is basically the R18 section. Other than the occasional doujin thing or MMO, the PC is basically just the eroge console.

But Kilgore is an actual real english surname though (David Kilgore, for example).

Which makes it even stranger that they changed it. What the fuck.

It's not a store thing. It's an online thing and other countries use it too…

By "not a store thing" you mean it's not something you buy in a store, correct? So it's an online store like Amazon or Rakuten? First I've heard of online stores getting wholly exclusive releases, most I've heard is things like eCapcom's exclusive limited editions, but with those the base game is still sold in other online stores as well as brick and mortars.

It's basically how anyone buys PC games. That or GoG. Very few stores actually sell physical copies of PC games anymore. It's all digital. I find it hard to believe someone who posts on an image board wouldn't know what Steam is.

Don't bother, this guy is just pretending to be Japanese. Every Jap I know on twitter heard of Steam nowadays

They do, it's just usually on a separate floor due to being R18.

Well there's why it's not a thing here. If you don't have a physical product, you don't have a product here at all really.

Tell those リア充 to kill themselves

...

That's a nice butt.

I love how you can smell the abnoxious japanon from a mile away. He's just as loud in the Vita and MH threads.

He's fake.

...

A pornsite

This dumbass has been doing this on the MH general as welll.
Ignore him

Yeh it's pretty obvious he's pretending at this point. He doesn't even know that Steam is well known in Japan nowadays.

Localization companies, publishers, even developers tend to treat their customers like trash.

I don't understand why, though.

Do you guys like pointless arguments or something?

You need to fuckoff as well NISAshill

This has never fucking happened. During the floppy days, people would wait for a new batch and send the dev back the bugged game or worse ==BUY THE GAME AGAIN== just to get a fixed version. Maybe with games during the pong era but as games became more and more complex, bugs were just expected. Complaining about patches through internet makes me think you're born in the 00's.

Oh right, I forgot, you plugged the Famicom into the Internet to download games, of course, silly me.

Yeah, silly you, you underaged retard. Those "already fixed at release" games from the famicom era were mostly late western release of an already fixed jap game. Famicom games had the worst fixes for the japs because they had to buy the game again. At least with floppy you had the chance to send the dev back his game and ask for a fixed version.

What does the West have to do with anything? If a game was overly buggy, it was a kusoge and word of mouth killed it and that was that. Devs who wanted to survive did QA to get games out the door functioning. I'm not saying there were zero bugs or glitches, but it was nothing like the culture today where thanks to this Internet crap devs do little to no QA and just toss games out with the assumption of "eh when they complain we'll fix it"

Reading comprehension, it's important!

There is no such culture. You're obviously not a programmer or have any idea what goes on in software development. Everyone wants to shit out a perfect product but not even the most robust of QA department can cover 100% of all bugs in a very complex series of programs like video games. You're an outsider looking in through a straw, son. You want bugless games? Go back to a time where simple games existed. It'd also be wise to re-read the conversation tree before you shoot yourself in the foot again.

My point is that you're assuming I was talking about Western releases of games as opposed to the games themselves, which makes absolutely no sense.

That's the thing though, even shit that comes out now can be perfectly 100% playable with few if any bugs noticeable by end users, there's just less of an impetus to make it so because financial survival doesn't depend on it like it did before they started hooking consoles up to the Internet.

Tell that to Mass Effect: Andromeda.

KYS, retard.

They don't depend on video games, they just can sell Madden et al. to the normalfags and live forever. Even if that somehow falls through, they'll just resort to criminal acts to stay in business like they did in the '90s.

Keep in mind that NISA had stuff like "Lombardy" (Lombardia) and "Laksha" (Laxia) at some point, yet these were fixed in time. Not to mention that Dana has three gameplay styles in the PS4 version called "Iclucian", "Gratica" and "Luminous", and NISA kept "Iclucian Dance" for their OST sampler (same tracklist as the Falcom's OST mini), so they are not even being consistent with it. And since when イクルシア equals "Icarusia".

Not even going to bother with "Big Hole", it's clear no one on the project played the game in Japanese first, otherwise they wouldn't have given us that (there's also a few occasions where the English VA was obviously done without context). They also had the balls to change "Waisman" to "Viceman", and thus killing a hilarious reference to Saltman from SC. Gotta love how they're actually going with "Ancient Species" and "Variant Beast" for real, literally the Google Translate result. Most of their changes just feel clunky, with the exception of Nautlus -> Nautilus and Curran -> Carlan which are honestly better.

XSEED got Celceta out in 1 year and a few months after the JP release, and the basic translation was done around Spring 2013.

Please do not make fun of best guy. He will definitely reappear in CS3.

One of the funniest and most tragic things about vidya is everyone blames the play testers. But most bugs are actually caught.

Its just that the game has to be out for Christmas/Obon/whatever so they aren't fixed until after release. This is why I always wait at least 6 months before playing a game.

Same but often times, I get so swamped with my backlog that it takes me a year to get a "new" release.

...

UUNNNNNNF!!!

...

So I beat the game. I don't know how to break it to you guys, but Nick Doerr of all people was an editor on Ys VIII.

Lacrismosa of DANA starring Adel. Popped up on the EU PSN.

You have no idea how much I want
Vita and Aurelia to be romanceable.

...

Promising.

The fuck? Any screenshots?

I'm checking some stuff. If typos are such a problem, how is Xseed any good? Pretty much every release has several pages of them and they've even gotten a typo in their game's name for all areas before only fixing it later. I don't think "Legend fo Heroes" in second link is the right name for the series, after all?

steamcommunity.com/app/251150/discussions/0/35219681599187923/

The only good thing about them is Tom.

There you go again NISA shill. Especially after you've been told countless times that XSEED makes mistakes, but they don't fuck the translation of Falcom games. You've been told countless times how NISA doesn't give two shits on anything they do.

I agree, the guy seemed okay. I remember the witches debacle and he has some real balls, even losing his credits spot just because he opposed it.

Okay Xseed shill, did you check the links or are you not only mentally but also bodily retarded and cannot even click simple things? Or are Legend of Heroes not Falcom games now? Surprising turn of events, that is. So Xseed is allowed to make mistakes in the names of their games even as they sell them, but pointing that out makes you a NISA shill? Interesting.

I've bothered going to reddit as you stink of it with your steoreotypical blind company worship and of course, this is where you've picked your picture from. Can you please go back to reddit and do everyone on this imageboard a favour, okay? Circlejerks and defending company fuck ups are more common a sight there, so please just kindly fuck off.

Do you know how to fucking read? Like said
Xseed's fuckups are always pointed out here, especially how they straight up LIE about dual audio. Your strawman of "wah wah muh NISA is being criticized this means they are XSEED FANBOYS" is really pathetic

I swear, this game has been in "its going to end soon!" mode for like 15 hours. I hated navigating those towers but I think the worst was the inside of the Glorious since it seemed like they just gave it to an intern who copy-pasted the same level over and over. The game, however, has been overall enjoyable and I'm honestly excited to see how 3rd expands on the story. I heard 3rd took place in some magic dimension and it makes me a bit worried that it'll be the same zones for a third time but colored purple now.

Agreed though 802b7b is clearly a retarded fanboy too. People calling others shills are usually fanboys of either companies.

I think you have some sort of retardation as well. Did you come to help out your fellow redditor? That'd explain it all quite well. And no, Xseed fuck ups are almost never mentioned there, and whenever they are, retards like you call those who do so "NISA shills".

Jesus, it's exactly what happened in reverse. You must be a kike to lie this blatantly to save a fellow redditor.
"wah wah muh XSEED is being criticized this means they are NISA FANBOYS" is the fucking epitome of . Where did I even mention NISA in those posts? I never called him an Xseed shill because he calls out NISA, but because he blindly defends Xseed which's been doing the exact same thing he criticises. Is that difference too hard to comprehend for the fleshy bits inside of your skull? I won't call them a brain.

I like how these games are so niche and devoid of anything of worth talking about now that people just fling shit at each other about some third party shenanigans.

On to a better topic, why must Sara win the Reanbowl and why is Millium best girl?

Let's hope we can choose the partner. I want to pound Millium's loli pussy god damn…

Wait, are you seriously trying to pretend your post was TOTALLY unrelated to ? Good lord, what a dishonest cunt you are

Now you're moving the goalposts. I never said it was unrelated, so your reading comprension sucks. I'll make it clearer, what I've meant is I didn't call him a shill because he pointed out NISA's flaws as you've implied with your pathetic "wah wah muh NISA is being criticized this means they are XSEED FANBOYS" which is what I've disagreed with in and what was exactly the fucking thing he has done, with the names switched.

I've called the redditor a shill because he has the audacity to call me one while he can't even bear seeing Xseed's translation fuck ups shown and instantly throws shit at those who showcase them, so he clearly is not only a redditor, but also a fucking blind fanboy who instantly thinks everyone who points out his favourite company's flaws and fuck ups must automatically be NISA's shill. You are a dishonest faggot to be pretending the reason I called him a shill is because he's shown NISA's fuck ups which was clearly not the case, but his mindless defense. He is a doublethinking fanboy. Please fuck off to reddit together with him.

Where's that full penetration guy when you need him?

You're the only true fanboy here, NISA shill. Nightwolve? Whichever you prefer.

Oh, but of course, that makes sense. You're completely right, showing flaws of one company automatically makes me a shill for another one, but when it's you who does the same thing and even defends the former company without end while not showing a single constructive argument and only throwing feces around at those who find its flaws, that obviously doesn't mean you're a shill or a fanboy. Logically sound.
That's some flawless deduction skills, I'm honestly impressed. Where did you gain them, kindergarten or mental institution?

You have been waylaid by lolis and must defend yourself

Sara/Laura/Emma/Fie are the best girls.

Millium is annoying.

But honestly it's all down to personal preference. I even like Altina more, but not as much

I'd love for Vita and Aurelia to be romanceable in 3 but I doubt it. I like Claire also, but I think she's gonna get left behind.

Man I want KeA to rape me…

Faggot who has shit tastes is also a shitposter. Color me surprised.

Yeah the christmas cakes are great. Millium is adorable although her personality in CS does not reflect that of a 13 year old at all. She seemed more like a hyper active 7 year old at best. Then again, maybe it's different in Japan. Laura and Fie are bros. Emma is soft.

I think there's a good excuse as to why Millium's like that. She's not normal and never really went to school, so she's easily excitable about, well, everything.

I don't have much of a preference for excitable types. I like calm, sweet or mature women. Or a mixture.

Lolis hunt in packs

Guys, in CS1, does New Game+ unlock certain scenes? I ask because while checking out the alternate scenes for the outfit pick up scene at the final chapter, Vita reveal she's in cahoots with that weird bird as Rean and Emma drive away. In my version (PC not New Game+), the game just skips to the part where Emma rubs her big soft mammaries on Rean's back.

Am I missing an item? I also failed to 100% Celine's milk thingy, could it be that or did they cut out this scene for PC?

That one scene is the only New Game+ exclusive content.

There's a demo for Ys VIII out on PS4
Anyone tried it yet?

I played the Japanese demo myself. But I'll download this one to check it out as well.

Man, while I understand TiTS3 had no choice but to be PC only, it definitely cuts out on a lot of the comfy knowing that I can no longer play it in bed or put it down whenever I want and know the vita will save my spot.

The title has a typo, you can't save, and there's no Jap VA (probably for size reasons). Otherwise it's the same as the Japanese demo.

...

INFERNO CATASTROPHE [NO DAMAGE]
:^)

This is just Celceta all over again, isn't it? Gotta say this doesn't look like the best ys game ever you import fuckers were hyping up so much
I feel like they've lost their touch. They just can't seem to make something that's challenging when you have a dodge, a block, a third person perspective and bosses that move around a lot compared to previous Ys games.

Jesus. Is that THE Durante? That guy proved there are still heroes left in man.

people are still defending NISA? why would people go to such lengths for such a shitty company?

Nobody is defending NISA. We are just happy they didn't fuck up. And that's a good thing.

...

How to spot a shill: the post

Fuck off with your meme. Why should I be angry when we're getting a good localization?

Sadly it seems like you can't make an action game without a dodge mechanic nowadays. I also wish you still had to actually avoid getting hit, and not just playing a rhythm game with the boss patterns.
Ys Origin did it right I think, every character has some sort of block but with a penalty attached to it (high mp cost, high startup/recover time, etc)

Did anyone get into the beta yet?

Not to mention you could dodge by moving in the correct way or jumping at the right time and such. My dislike is that the window for flash guard/flash move is incredibly easy and it makes it possible to simply walk up and wail on a boss and keep using flash dodge/guard to not require even changing your position.

A robotic translation means it's still a fucked localization, shill.

You have posted 8 times in the thread and everytime it was to shitpost. Do you not have anything better to do?

Ys Seven released for 25 eurodollars
store.steampowered.com/app/587100/Ys_SEVEN/
gog.com/index.php/game/ys_seven

I thought it'd be twenty bucks, though

Not too bad. Kinda wish they didn't price gouge europe everytime though.

they truly Xseed my expectations, just what will take for them to learn? seems like CS selling incredible 14k or less did not do the trick.

Yeah maybe they should just give it away…

You know if JRPGs just got 1% of what Steamfags spend on cosmetics and loot crates we could get a second disc remake of Xenogears.

14K is not too bad either. Though yeh that's not very high for a JRPG. Esp since Moero Chronicle sold 10K copies.

Nobody has done a text insertion yet? The one for FC Evo was pretty quick.

no but they should know a old PSP game without any real improvement is not worth 25 no matter how much great a game you think it is, same thing for CS, nobody demanded more VA and that plus a decent port( which is not something people should be praised for) do not justify that price on PS2 looking game from 2015, one that is barely decent and with shitty DLCs at that, you will get the diehard fans and that it, CS2 will probably sell even less and quite frankly i just don't get why Xseed/Marvelous is so stupid.

Probably mostly because Sony players bitched about Shinovi Versus and Bon Appetit having all DLCs.

Oh, I almost forgot this game was even coming out. Judging from the fact nobody mentioned it for about two threads until the very seconds of its release, it doesn't seem like I'm the only one. It hasn't even beat 300 concurrent players yet, and considering CS1 were at 1k for a few days and barely beat 10k sales, what will the numbers for this be? Does anyone remember if Xanadu Next broke 300 players and showed its number on Steam because of that on the release day? I can't recall.

Either way I know concurrent players means nothing, some might just play offline so whatever. Maybe that's no indication of anything, but it seriously seems like a hard flop so far. I know Ys is arguably the less popular series than Trails now, but still. By the time people realise Ys Seven is out with this marketing, NISA will release the beta and PC demo they've mentioned on Steam and then preorders for Ys 8 will start so they will forget 7 again, why would Xseed have released this at this period of time? Did Kondo tell them "u wirr never get Ysu or Cord Steer again Gaijin, why you no risten and pubrish that Vita game? Now it's too rate" so they did it out of spite, or did they think that'd work out somehow?

I know I shouldn't have but I died laughing at that…

The PC port of Ys Seven does support 60+fps now though

Xseed do stupid shit by themselves, but i don't know if it's really Xseed been idiots or it's Marvelous fault, the DLC crap and pricing crap are decided by Marvelous i think.

i reeeeeeally doubt that

how impressive

Games on Steam rely on the long haul not the traditional first month sales like physical distribution. It's half the reason devs have embraced it.

That's a bit high for a old game, not to mention I have to buy Ys VIII on Steam too and we don't even know how much it will cost yet. Wish it had been closer to 15.

I honestly want to know what kind of moron runs Xseed's marketing.

Probably Hatsuu. She's not very good at anything related to talking/socializing after all.

There is no point in pricing a niche game low. It won't attract more buyers.

Whether Ys is priced at 9.99 or 19.99 normalfags aren't going to care and will just play PUBG.

If you like Japanese games you're going to have to pony up the cash, it has always been that way.

if anyone but a fan sees a game that looks like something from PS1/2 they will get wary, but may still give it a try if the price is not absurd and it looks interesting however Xseed does a really horrible job at marketing so it's really hard for most people to find it interesting and the pricing will put them off immediately as it clearly its not worth 25 and is a very old game. It's never good for a company and sales to become stagnant and just fan dependent, also the "Long tail" Xseed strategy is not working that great as most of their games sales only rise during a sales period and CS1 manage even go down from 18k to 14k, anyway i see no point of explaining this crap here as fanboys will just make excuses to feel happy and Xseed is not listening or even willing to improve, in the end it's all whining of someone who wanted to see the series have success in the west, gets angry seeing Xseed act like a bunch of idiots and is afraid NISA will take it over, but seems like their fate is sealed.

yeah but if the series was ever going to be a success in the west, it would have done that since the start. Kiseki games has problems of their own, chief among them is the gameplay, pacing and production values. CS was never going to sell 1/16 of what something like Witcher or FF could do.

It's funny because the thing that would've really helped them is if this was the first JRPG to be ported to Steam after more than a decade of PC being starved of it but that ship has long sailed. Best japs can hope is that the PC ports keep this series alive through fan chatter and have them drum up interest in CS3 and other future titles. Oh well.

>Merger name becomes NIS Falcom
Watch it happen

I'm ok with it tbh.

I forgot how shit the 3rd boss of Ys Seven is.

I'm so tired of Trails games just pandering to heterosexual people and ignoring the fact that minorites exist, would it really hurt to show some homo couples in Zemuria? Anton and Ricky would be perfect as they just can't get laid with females anyways. I guess Tita and Agate are okay since it promotes Pedosexuality in a respectful manner without Kevin wanting to burn him on the stake lol. The constant promotion of nationalism is also troublesome, hopefully the Calvard arc will fix this with its eastern immigration.

Those twin tails on Estelle though.

...

Just to give you bit of information business wise. NIS Japan is completely univolved and played no part in YsVIII western localization. NISA which acted independently in securing the localization rights was attempting to piggy back off the success that XSeed had with the other Falcom games in hopes of simply lining their coffers since they were not doing so hot financially. That's why they undercut XSeed and Falcom felt the deal was too good to pass on. If the game is a success here in the west the most you'll have to worry over is NISA will suddenly get priority and even more creative control in localizing Falcom games. A merger between NIS and Falcom would be related to a completely separate issue. Furthermore 50/50 mergers are extremely rare especially in Japan. Most mergers are buyouts of the lower company and if there were to be a merger between Falcom and NIS it would be Falcom buying out NIS since Falcom is actually both more financially stable and viable, has more on hand cash and assets, and a much smaller to debt/profit ratio (They make more money and owe less money) than NISA (Who happens to be in debt to basically every bank and industry lender in Japan. The merger is also unlikely because Falcom would probably not be able to afford to cover NIS' debts in the event of a desired buyout.

Oh, it seems like his turning speed is bugged at 60 fps. Thanks XSEED.

You are really bad at pretending to be a SJW. All of them are triggered by the whole Tita x Agate relationship.

...

I want to cuck Agate of Tita. (in Sky though, she's too old in CS)

It's so the enemies don't notice she's pissed herself.

Capua Delivery confirmed for Sen 3

They are?
SJWs even know of Falcom games?

What's the gold button at the back of Rean for? Looks uncomfortable as fuck.

Why does CS feel like they suddenly ran out of runway and cut it in half?

They do.
Pics related.

Because CS isn't meant to be Sky. That and they wrote the games as if CS 1 and 2 were one game. Also, the button is the least of your worries when Josette comes storming into the Reanbowl.

I feel like this is satire

I feel like they just pulled a Peter Jackson on us because of mismanagement. Maybe it gave them some breathing room to expand 2 some more though.

Is everyone getting a Panzer Soldat now? Because I'm all for Front Mission 6: Calvard tbh.

These people aren't the most stable of folks. The whole of SJW shit seemed like a Monty Python sketch irl. It's so surreal.

What if the calvard arc plays like Valkryia Chronicles
or anything but how CS or Sky plays like

Oh please. If anyone is going to win the Reanbowl it's Irina. Here's the official lyrics to the song Elliot wrote for the festival concert that Alisa rejected:

Alisa's mom has got it going on~
Alisa, can Rean come over after school?
You can hang around by your pool
Did your mom get back from her business trip?
Is she there, or is she trying to give Rean the slip?

You know, he's not the little boy that he used to be
He's all grown up now, baby, can't you see?

Alisa's mom has got it going on~
She's all Rean wants and he's waited for so long
Alisa, can't you see? You're just not the girl for Rean
We know it might be wrong, but Rean's in love with Alisa's mom

Alisa, do you remember when we went to Nord?
Your mom came out with Sharon towed
I could tell she liked him from the way she stared
And the way she said, "Give me some good reading, won't you ;)"

And I know that you think it's just a fantasy
But since your dad is dead, your mom could use a guy like Rean

Alisa's mom has got it going on~
She's all Rean wants and he's waited for so long
Alisa, can't you see? You're just not the girl for Rean
We know it might be wrong, but Rean's in love with Alisa's mom

Please no. Reanbowl is full.

That isn't Aurelia

It plays like Valkyria Revolution

Does anyone have any idea how to get TiTS 3rd not to chug? Every single damn forum says to just turn Hardware Vertex Shading on and that'll fix it but that damn thing was already clicked on by default and it chugs anyway. I even turned off all vsync, shadows, reflections, and putting it in a 640x480x32 window with low texture quality and it still drops like 25 frames just by walking across the very first room in the prologue. There was a steam thread about it with some links to framerate limiters that had worked but one link was dead and the other did nothing.
I'm using the GOG version and its just unplayable right now.

kek.

That's what's infuriating, my pc might not be a powerhouse by any means but it can run most modern games rather smoothly at around medium despite being outdated, a PSP game should not be having these frame drop problems, and the advice on steam and gog is all the same and doesn't work

Typical idiot who doesn't know anything about Japan. How do these people even find niche Japanese games?

Steam deliberately tries to steer folks to mainstream games. I'm not going to look but I bet Life is strange is on the front-page right now.

Earlier this morning, GOG announced Ys 8 will be coming to GOG. Which means it won't have Denuvo and it'll be easier to pirate.

Nisa may want Ys but I don't see them wanting to localise anything complicated and heavy on script.

Cool. Remind me when it comes out and I'll put it in my seedbox.

Did the other games lag? Though I find 3rd to be incredibly slow in its regular state, which could be what you are experiencing, maybe speedhack it with CheatEngine?

Ys VIII's script is about on par with The 3rd's.

Which is by far the shortest kiseki script.

Yeah, but "the shortest kiseki script" is still a fucking long script.

GOGfags are pathetic pirates as expected.

Not compared to the other kiseki scripts.

People were going to pirate it anyway.

I'm in the beta for Ys 8.

The framerate is a mess, the game crashes and gamepads barely working, both gamepad and keyboard bindings are a mess.

Guess it truly was a beta™.
I swear to god NISA if you fuck this up

Apparently there's a BUNCH of text issues, too?

They already fucked up the translation.

B I G H O L E

I played both FC and SC on my vita and I do remember it dropping a few frames here and there but if I put 3rd on the default settings and run fullscreen, then walk across the ballroom in the prologue, it drops all the way to single digit frames, and while tampering with settings helps it so the drops aren't that drastic, they're still constant, every few steps or so.

Do you accidentally have your PC set to power saver mode or something?

Wish it had Millium instead of adult Tita.

At the very least that's only garnish on top of a cake.

yeah right, the sheer hypocrisy and Kiseki/Ys gameplay are not bad but nothing amazing either, just stop lying Kondo for fuck sake.

No, it wasn't that either. Strangely enough I decided to download the pirated steam version and now it runs smooth as butter, has some light screentearing but it doesn't bother me.
I'm rather surprised by this since GOG has never dropped the ball like that for me before. Whatever the cause, I'm just happy I can play the game now and I'm not bothered by having bought it since I want Xseed to get enough money to be able to put out more of these games. Last thing I want is to see NISA touching a Kiseki game

Pretty much confirming that I should just import the game when I can and just look up the story bits online. Have to say though, after playing MoC, seeing gameplay of 8, and about to play 7 on PC, I can see why some fans don't like the change in direction with how the gameplay is (personally I did have fun with MoC, but the intensity of the fights, especially boss fights, doesn't compare to previous titles). Oath and Origin got it almost perfectly with how fun and intense some of the fights and areas got, and they could've capitalized on being one of the few Jap devs that still did sprite games like that, but spritework is more expensive than doing it like they do now, and with a budget nowhere near as big as other devs there, it's hard to stick to tradition nowadays.

So I was doing Nightmare Arena in 3rd, managed my CP nicely and did all 3 rounds without too much trouble.

Then I was introduced to the conpet of Round 4.

WHAT? I'm supposed to fight WHAT?
WHAT THE FUCK FALCOM!?

Playing on Hard by the way.

Dana's demo was alright. Pretty much third person Celceta with seems to be very inaccurate hitboxes. And engrish va is shit, but that's to be expected.
Still not sure if I want to buy it or not. I liked the gameplay and I'm kind of a starved for an action RPG, but publisher makes me want to forget it exist.

Also, finished Cold Steel 1 on PC. And just like with VIta version I missed a bunch of profiles, monsters and didn't get all chest cheeevo. It's like a fucking deja vu. Should've played with a guide, seems "talk to everyone" principle isn't cutting it for me.

I've never gotten the platinum trophies for CS1 and CS2 because I always miss a chest or forget to scan an enemy (usually a boss).

I played each of them like 3 times.

One of the biggest things I found out that I must say I didn't like was that some of the VII-classmate info was locked behind bonding events. Meaning if you didn't have bonding events with very specific characters at very specific points of the game, there goes your full-notebook-one-run play (which is possible, or at least it was in CS2).

The bloom be fixed?

Just tried the YsVIII demo. It's actually the second time I played it, since I tried the Japanese demo back when that came out. Felt a lot easier to get the hang of things though, and had a much better run, while also playing on a higher difficulty than the last time. Though I only went to Hard difficulty, not Nightmare or Inferno.

Well, I think I can at least feel somewhat relieved that they at least kept consistency with Bryce and Patrick as Adol and Dogi. Don't know if I'll go for this at full price though.

...

...

Is there one? At least hypothetically?

...

Or you could play it in Japanese if you're this much of an autist.

That's what he said he was going to do and let's face it, it's way more autistic to play games in English

Its Nisa. I have a kanly with them.

And for the record, I pay for games but still fully support piracy. Payment should be optional and folks without money should enjoy games too.

You're only showing NISA, Falcom and especially GOG themselves it's not worth anymore to put Ys games on GOG. But hey your choice. Don't go complain when Celceta by XSEED is Steam only because GOG decided Ys games are no longer "good enough" for their platform. They've done that many times before.

They always use whatever little excuse they find but at the end of the day pirates gonna pirate.

Yeh it's quite pathetic and more annoying so because GOG is extremely difficult with Japanese games so if nobody buys it on GOG we might never get any other Ys game.

Sadly Vita day was much less fruitful than Fie day.

No user this is what's going to happen: I buy Ys on GOG and then make a torrent and seed the shit out of it. Like I've done with every Falcom game.

I hate Nisa and like piracy. I'm totally cool with people enjoying stuff for free that I payed money for. Ever played D&D? Chaotic neutral. None of this makes any sense and it doesn't have to.

It probably won't bankrupt Nisa but every bit helps and it'll help some poorfags.

We're talking about GOG getting games though.
As a sidenote I want to send KeA to paradise.

Lads, what's the name of the music for the Cassius&Loewe fight in the 3rd? It sounds like a remix of Silver Will but I can't find it.

Super Arrange version.

Thank you

I need her in my life.

Just keep in mind, companies don't see that as "oh this censorship thing is bad and is losing us money, we should stop doing it," they see it as "people like censored things, but they're just greedy," so unless it's effective enough to actually drive foreignization companies out of business, it's not really going to make a difference.

Ys 8 isn't censored though…

We'll have to make a new thread soon. Anything needed to add?

Ys VIII GOG link I guess?

Not that I'm aware of, but I'm checking that excellent set of digits you got there

We never link to the store, but I'll say it's coming out on it I guess.

Yeh just noticed actually.

Localizations and censorship are like politicians and corruption - they're all guilty of it, it's just a question of whether they've been caught yet or not.

Why is it so hard for nips to rig this shit right?
