So what do we think of it? Is it good or did Sega find a way to fuck it up?

So what do we think of it? Is it good or did Sega find a way to fuck it up?

We already have two threads about this shit.

Nigga I just wanna know if its shit or not.

Okay then, where the fuck you have been for a whole fucking week? We discussed every single stage, every single boss and every single Mark playthrough fail. And eventually the ending.

Yes, the game is fucking good, a little bit too much old stages, but that's the only real minus.

I was working. Sorry my seclude and the board's didn't line up.

Cool, that's really all I was looking for. Thanks.

its shit, i can't see far enough and i get hit too easily, i also hate platforms crushing me, i hate elevators, also the game is just fuckin easy, like you can't die. you also can't hold right to win, that doesn't make sense.

That's always been a problem with 2d sonic. The game tells you to go fast, but if you do you'll get fucked by something that approaches so quickly that there's no time to react.

5 year old me playing Sonic 2 never had any of the issues. How come you're worse at video games than a 5 year old?

i was fucking joking, as long you're playing on a crt thats outputting a good image.

Well I'm not joking. You can react to things reflexively and it may or may not save your ass, but if you react in the wrong way then there isn't much you can do.

For example you may react to an enemy/obstacle by jumping, but then you just fall into a pit or hit spikes that were off-screen at the moment where you jumped. It's even worse if you bounce off enemies because that jump is hardly a conscious decision.

There's a reason for sonic's ball form and ability to get your rings back. You can roll during the speed section to hit enemies in front of you, and quickly collect rings when you crash into a spike. Really the best thing you can learn in sonic games is how to always roll even when you aren't spindashing, and learn to recollect rings quickly, and train your reaction to that.
Hits registered then do not matter, and game patterns can be very easily remembered. I know sonic 1-3 levels by my fucking muscle memory i still have since childhood, so i know all traps perfectly.

Sonic 1 in that term was best game in terms of being harder by not having spin dash and not being able to recover from getting hit by spikes. It should had stayed this way to piss off casuals.

None of that actually happens in the games. Its something shitters online have made up to disparage the games they haven't spent more than a minute in.

So it's good if you think that getting unavoidably hit isn't bad game design, and having to play the game over and over and memorize the levels in order to play it properly is fun.

If you want to think that, then whatever. I'll still think that you could just let me see where I'm going and rid the game(s) of this problem entirely.

I've played through all 3 of the original along with Knuckles & Knuckles, and the problem more or less exists in every single one of them. I don't mind enemies you can spin through, it's instant damage obstacles and crushers and holes on the ground are where the problem is most relevant.

And when I say "holes on the ground", I mean anything you can fall down on. For example the first levels of sonic 3 has a lot of places to fall down and swingers and water and disappearing blocks etc. It's not a bad level but god help you if you want to go fast and not fall down everything without previous experience with the level.

Roll into a ball dumbass.

That's the fucking point. Speed is a reward, not a right.

Nothing because I CAN'T PLAY IT YET.

The mobile versions of 1 and 2 fix this problem by making it widescreen and increasing the field of view to match, apparently. Try those.

You know what? People who suck at sonic like you and mark are news to me. You suck at literally the most casual fucking platformer ever existed. Take it from judgemental point of view. Try playing donkey kong country. I can't even imagine how you will suck at that game.

i'm going to say this every thread but best Sonic game, and Sonic team should feel bad, also I kind of want to see Sonic Team force Taxman out of Mania 2 and ruin it just watching them blunder is never not fun, who's waiting for their next blunder in a few months time.

Yeah, the camera system is kind of shit, I get the feeling Sonic should be off centre in the direction he's coming from. Mania does a better job with these and actually uses the gimmick to it's advantage, think of the point in Green Hill Zone where you are stopped above a pit of spikes on a weak platform, there is enough time for a player to react to this, and the game gives you god indication that you are about to hit some shit, the levels I think are larger and there are more opportunities to move up and down map layers, it just improves the game overall, on top of the better designed obstacle and momentum gimmicks in general, also stale platforming sections.

doesn't stop you from stopping on rocks, or bouncing off of springs placed just to fuck with you.

I hate this timeline.

But the game was easy, I finished the game with 30 Lives left over.

You shouldn't have to memorize the entire fucking levels beforehand to be able to play the game as intended, you absolute retard. Games generally let you play well on your first run if you're skilled enough, while Sonic will just fuck you over.

It's the same retard fanboy logic you see every time that zombies get their object of adoration criticized. No, you can't just admit that it's flawed but that you like it anyway, you have to go into objectively wrong territory and throw out completely baseless personal insults.

Good to see that you didn't stop being a mindless retard in those few minutes since your last post. I'll let your illiterate ass in on a secret: "this game design is flawed" is not the same thing as "I cannot complete this game because I am bad". In fact, those two things are completely different.

Sonic isn't difficult, going fast without already knowing exactly what's coming ahead and what's coming after that is.

itt casuals.

You talk like polygon journalist, or a redditor. Consider suicide.

Considering there are millions of people who don't think so, the problem lies with you.

I'm sure you personally interviewed every single one of those millions of people to know this, right?

Considering those million kept buying each and every game you listed which according to you share the "flaw" I don't need to.

This is what you sound like. I bet you think Crash Bandicoot is the Dark Souls of platformers

Flawless logic

They don't call them Sonic Autists for no reason, but try Mania it actually works towards fixing a lot of these faults, it also has better level design in general.

What fucking hole? Have you ever played a Sonic game? Except for some shitty levels like Star Light, there are practically no pitfalls in Sonic.

You might want to test for cancer, user

Would you not enjoy seeing that happen, I mean I like Mania and definitely want to see more but it's fun watching bad things happen.

Something is definitely wrong with you user

Classic (good) Sonic games are like Platinum games. You aren't expected to 100% your first run. Once you become more familiar with the stages and the "grammar" of sonic level design you can start anticipating threats.

Widescreen definitely helps, of course, but I almost never react to things based on visual cues. Launching off a ramp will usually fling you to a secret or over a tedious platforming section, so you start jumping off ramps and bumps at high speed just to see where you end up, and the games almost always reward you for this.

If you are one of those people who thinks that Sonic is about speed, you are wrong. Sonic is about momentum. Once you understand this you can start enjoying the games. If you want games that are about speed, go play Unleashed and modern Generations, a glorified Simon Says with some woosh noises and blur effects.

You cucks went soft.

Or into a pit or spikes, there's a lot of ways to fly at crazy speeds in the greenhill zone (I think sonic 2) and have no clue where you'll end up landing. Especially if you take one of the bouncer pads and fall onto an enemy since you can't spin after jumping from those.

They work in most cases but I have a lot of memories of that in greenhill zone from childhood. I think the casino zone has similar things since there's a lot of bouncy pads.

lol

There are obvious hints in the level designs that suggest when you go fast and when you platform. Slopes hints that you go fast by rolling into a ball and thus getting rid of enemies, and the design tells you it's back to platforming if you hit the side of an edge, wall or a side of a spike.

Even without the go fast mechanic, Sonic is still a well designed platformer, seeing that it has much more paths than the Super Mario Bros games, and you can still have fun going slow and explore because the spin jump allows you more ways to damage your enemies than just bopping them on the head above.

Look we get it you're a sperg that thinks this sonic is a fucking romhack of mario and jumps every 5 seconds while having the spatial awareness of a starved rapefugee crossing the Mediterranean sea along with his reaction time making you unable to take the fucking hints already in the game or kill a badnik without gravitating toward spikes like a low-functioning autist.

Anyone who's tried it is a pleb since they own a console.

Where did these casuals come from?

I'm hearing rumors of the PC version getting leaked. Does anyone know more about this?

Or a cake eating jew

Yes.
/thread

Still trying to force this meme? It doesn't have denuvo.

If in doubt, most new releases these days have Denuvo, U-Play or some other cancer like that. What's worse about Denuvo is the amount of lost redditors that will defend its reputation with their life on an anonymous imageboard.

So does the new jump dash or whatever they're calling it really have any use? So far it just seems like a shitty gimmick nobody uses.

Some levels like chemical plant zone has holes, but not only do you have to be completely retarded to fall into them and die the devs put free lives in some of them for your sorry ass

Don't jynx it you fucking nigger.

I don't know, I haven't tried it yet.

People like you are the cancer that infests almost every thread here, kindly kill yourself.

What is "Kirby's Epic Yarn"? Kirby takes the "fluffy marshmallows of easy mode" trophy. Withstanding: Super Star Ultra, Triple Deluxe and Robobot

>So what do we think of it?

I've had enough of you borg bastards!

...

Mcfucking kill yourself

Back to your Saturn

Tired of the shilling for this game

what is the jump button

there are visual queues that tell you theres gonna be a spike there, not the game designers fault you're blind

that's why you play through slowly the first time and replay it once you know the flow of the levels, therefore encouraging replays and gives you an encouraging sense of inprovement when you can beat that stage that was giving you problems the first time.

the game design in mania is one of the best of any sonic game, what are you talking about.

See above, I bet you didn't even beat Mario because "the level design is flawed"

tl;dr you're bad at video games and probably shouldn't be here

Don't be one of those 'tards that thinks any and all buzz about a game is shilling, Holla Forums's pontificated aimlessly about that stupidity for years and years. Remember "viral marketing" and how any positive opinion of a game no matter how fucking old was accused of viral. Hell, nowadays we have some pretty powerful "ignore it" tools that don't ever see use because it's easier to get mad and moan about it than it is to clean up the board a little on your own end and Holla Forums's not smart enough to check the big Options menu built into the site, else we wouldn't have stupid shit like Mark removing the email field because of niggers never shutting up about Ritsu and other unimportant tripfags they see maybe once a year since it's obvious they don't investigate 4AM threads

It's literally a 10/10 game.

fuck off, 4am apologist

Nigger Ritsu literally does not matter and paying attention to him feeds into him. Same goes for the rest of the 4AM crowd, huurrrrrr these people are such big attention whores that i will not stop paying attention to them under any circumstances and bawl when they feed off of it

I mean for God's sake you can completely erase any of them from the face of the site by wordfiltering their names (Ritsu especially since he likes to announce he's present to everyone while shilling his stream sites and his mere presence and what-all) and nobody does because they need a Holla Forums boogeyman. Filter out all the cocksuckers and you have a blogpost/QTDDTOT thread at early-morning hours which is the whole point of it. It is not hard and it's been firmly established that paying attention to them doesn't make them go away since Mark can't put his foot down on anything.

that's the problem you fag, take that shit to reddit

its literally the worst game ever made

Source on that buli?

It's a 8.8/10 for me, it's REALLY fucking good, but we need more bad guys; Give robotnik a (((Family))) and have bosses be more intense, maybe a bonus third act. The Knuckles side of Mirage Saloon Zone was fucking a m a z i n g

>Give (((robotnik))) a Family
fixed

...

How has this not blown up yet, it's the one thing everyone fucking ignores.

Because Sonic isn't Mario?

I meant the theory itself, the -ik names come mainly from the Soviet era, for example "Sputnik" and such. Not to mention the noses and extremely high IQ, and narcissistic, condescending attitude, akin to Ashkenazi Jews, with his plan of world conquest and constantly trying to build a Utopia (Eggmanland).

It's most like not "Politically Correct" to penetrate the minds of fans. I also had a theory about Klonoa: Empire of Dreams being anti-communist, I'll find the archive once 8archive goes back up, Eggman was originally inspired by Teddy Roosevelt, but now I feel like he's loosely Inspired by Stalin now. I hope Sonic Forces adds some water to this, gerald robotnik himsel proved to be very questionable in terms of motives, especially knowing that the same time (50 years ago in SA2 terms, he worked with the gov, but his plans clashed against their plans and the G.U.N had to take action)

There's also the fact that shadow himself is a bit of an anarchist. There's more, I just need to remember other things, they're thoughts that have been floating in my head but I didn't jot them down and need to recall them again.

...

HAVE NO STYLE

Shadow is a GUN agent. He's the opposite of anarchist.

Gerald was killed by GUN 50 years ago so it seems unlikely Eggman would be Stalinist, since you could argue Gerald was killed in the Sonic version of a Stalinist purge. But maybe that's the irony, like Magneto basically being Hitler 2. Or you could say GUN's actions were the Sonic version of the McCarthy-era Red Scare, I suppose. Depends on if the ARK is Sputnik or not.

What's it like knowing you're worse at a core component of your job than a fucking five year old?

Does anyone else have a major input delay issue with the ps4 version? I get a 25-35 frame delay on button presses, and it really makes the platforming not fun. The first press reel in Garden was almost impossible because of the input delay.
Digital copy on a standard ps4, pls no bully
