Question from newbie

How do you calculate everyones needs?

Using the algorithms currently used today by places like Black Rock. We have the computation power and the information to do this, and is arguably done already by capitalists. We only need to democratize the technology.

Will it be centrally planned?

Few people here favor central planning like that
Democratic planning is what i prefer.

Communism is the solution to history. There will be no one alive left to actually calculate their needs.

Local planning is a good idea. Representatives from neighborhoods and soviets can simply inform the local planning group of the needs of their people who then incorporate those into the plan, at least for essential goods. Consumer luxury goods could effectively operate on a non-profit market basis, where producers use market data to anticipate demand much as a modern corporation does.

What is democratic planning?

central planning results in some people not getting what they need, and of course there is also favoritism. The solution is to have decentralized planning, let local populations decide what they need so no one is ignored.

Can't we just make education free and create enough places to get educated for everyone who wants to? Then do the same with medicine, with housing, and with everything else, until you don't need money to pay for anything and everyone's needs are met?

Why do people think calculation of needs is a cornerstone of everything?

Market economy. Every bit of inefficiency of Capitalism carefully preserved under the banner of Socialism.

As it turns out, you just have to ask them.

Yes we can and we don't even need socialism for that, social democracy is sufficient. Most European countries provide all of that already for people in need

Not in the classical way. There will be much less room for individuals to choose. It will mostly be based off data like it is now.

REEEEEEEEEEE FASCISTS WITH RED FLAG LEAVE

...

How about asking them what they need on a monthly basis via internet?

lurk more, newfag

fuck I meant to say "fuck off Holla Forums, your contelproing is obvious"

It's okay I'm sure you'll figure out posting once your ban is over.

they have to decide this themselves as will as in accordance with the community in which their needs are met. Only you know what you need.

The workers produce according to the needs of their own community.
The people says "we need x and y" and so its done.

Nope.

Provided. Without USSR to put fear of Marx into Capitalists everything is being cut down and eliminated.

How are products distributed among different communities? Via trade?

A small community cannot produce all the things that people need

anarkiddies need to have this smashed in their face. Modern production takes ingredients from all around the world and a massive amount of workers from varying specialties who contribute to the end product in different ways. It only makes sense that these people with these specialized skills band together so they can do their particular work more efficiently.

Your commune isn't going to be able to make computers, or synthesize medicine, or do adequate safety tests by itself.

this is some nice socdem you have there. Why go for stuff which can be provided by market economy? Shouldn't we focus at first how to minimize (if not eliminate) work exploitation?

Democratic is not the opposite of central.

With a calculator obviously

You all passed maths class right?

the planning should not be limit to one community at once

That is something I can get behind

That is truth but dunno how should different communities plan together.

wtf is this reddit cancer shit? pls kys

Social Democracy with guns strikes again.

Pretty good stalin-post tbh. He's a bit insufferable from time to time but this answered a lot for me.

We've been discussing this since the 1898 (Ballod) and putting in practice since 1914 (Germany) and 1918 (Russia) - not to mention US as well (at least in 70s; oil crisis).

Someone can't use neither search engines nor head, since problem relies on a nonsensical premise - IRL you don't need 100% correct predictions.

I'm pointing out that the whole "problem" is non-existent. Even if the needs cannot be predicted (which is a nonsense), this doesn't change anything.

But how will the negotiation process between different communities work? Will they establish central authority to oversee this planning?

markets

Someone needs market-anarchism.
