Someone here called it "edgy guys that aren't on the edge of anything" which was pretty good.

Anyway they're alright I r8 them 8 out of 8 m8

never found them compelling enough to listen to for more than 3 minutes.

It's Opie and Anthony for Jacobin readers, which is where I happen to stand

Damn I bet the guy who said that was deemed very edgy to the 50 people who are aware of his existence

That was me, and I said that basically.

They are political-edgelords who aren't politically on the edge of anything. Sometimes I find them funny, but it's less then an eighth of the time.

fuck you

You're butthurt

10/10

No i'm not. You can check my butt if you want

...

Well now you just look booty bothered.

That's my secret, I'm always booty bothered.

I would listen to it, but they don't seem to make any points or arguements.

I'm a grey wolf

Circlejerky crap. They're alight when you want to chill for an hour and pretend to have funny, Berniecrat-and-a-half friends, but without the emotional investment of actually having to have such a relationship, if you get me.

I think in the last one they likened Bannon and the alt-right to Lenin and the Bolsheviks, along the lines of "sociopaths cynically exploiting mass discontent," and then made some remark about how their "tankie followers probably won't like that"

>am I using that word right, fellow kids? tankie?

I find it theoretically and politically insubstantial, like
More entertaining than the Rachel Maddow Show, but not meaningfully more informative

If you're driving for an hour or stocking shelves, though, why not?

They're as funny as they get for unscripted political news commentary, contain some amount of interesting discourse (mostly when they get a good interview), and they're humble enough when it matters that it never feels that edgy to me. But it does hurt them that the only ones of them who have 'good' (read: any) understanding of theory are marxists.
I like them.

I also just read the essay about identitarianism they talked about in yesterdays premium episode, (thenorthstar.info/?p=11299 ) and it's fucking great.
The passage they quoted was good:
But this is also good:

These people are about as involved with online leftism as it gets, you can't really accuse them of being these out of touch outsiders who're appropriating your culture or trying to fit into it. They pretty much define the anti-identitarian twitter left..

Their guest Matt Tabbi talked about how Bannon described himself as a leninist then strawmaned leninism. Im still a fan of Matt and but his arguement there was stupid. You're right they don't seem to know what Tankie is. It important to note they didn't all jump in and agree with Taibbi someone just said "uh-huh" and Will made the tankie joke. One of the hosts , Amber described herself as a leninist on the curious cat thing.

The big problem is the only two hosts who actually have read marxist theory are Matt and Amber and neither are on every episode. However I like the guests and humor enough to pay 5 bucks from Chapo premium.

That might be a little ambitious.

Isn't their big other "oppression" itself?

Easily the best leftist podcast out there. Only tankies hate them.

I disagree. While some episodes are devoid of any useful information, there is a lot of coverage of important news like developments in Syria and the rest of the ME. They seem pretty historically versed, and do a good job of putting current events in perspective.

However, they so strongly identify purely as "entertainers," clearly afraid that, if they actually attempted to organize the Grey Wolves in any fashion, they may be able to make solid headway ONLINE. They have such this boner about how "Real politics happen OFFLINE, in the REAL WORLD! Now go join the DSA where you will talk to other petit bourgs about your academic interests!" Honestly, them just telling their followers to shitpost some shitty lib journalist would be more productive than advocating they join a circlejerk inactivist program.

The Daily Show for people too self-conscious to like The Daily Show

That was their guest and Will made the Tankie remark probably because jumping on someone whenever they dishonor Lenin is an attitude that hasn't been popular since 1960

If you want theory you're not supposed to be listening to comedy podcasts.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I kinda get that odd "ultra, but centrist too" vibe from them as well

Whoa, slow down, Maurice!

pretty good and a part of a good way to despook libs

They think we are reddit

But.. They're right. Hell, one of the main problems with the left today is that people are way to fucking comfortable complaining about things on the internet without doing anything to organise in real life.

People seem mostly upset they are promoting DSA and not SALT, PSL or whatever thier party/ideology is.

No, one of the main problems on the left today is that they're way too comfortable complaining about things ANYWHERE. Don't delude yourself into thinking that complaining with the DSA is different than complaining on Holla Forums, it might even be worse than complaining on Twitter since there's a chance a lib will read your complaint.

Telling people to organize around some vague "anti-capitalist" inactivist group is just virtue signalling. If the DSA was organizing events like teaching proper gun usage, cyber security, and coding, I would change my mind and accept that they are working towards spreading knowledge which could be useful for revolutionary action, instead they circle jerk.

no

DSA is a political party, not a militia.

Anyone has Capone Speakeasy 2?
I really want to show it to 4/tg/ but the chance never comes.

Wow

Whatever revolutionary program we have, whatever skills we pick up to carry it out, whatever we achieve along the way, "revolution" will still require we build mass parallel power structures of workplace democracy to carry out, and to "take over for" the bourgeois state apparatus. You can judge any organization and any program by their acknowledgement, adherence to, and pursuit of this goal - or the lack thereof
Essentially all groups that don't mention this as outright as a major objective are diversionary wastes.

DSA is not a political party, they are simply an organization who may or may not support candidates in official elections who belong to actual political parties.

I agree people should learn how to handle guns but what political party teaches that in the US?

I've talked with some DSA members who are highly in favor of gun ownership and training but having some armed wing is not practical right now.

Criticism is good but to say the DSA is a do nothing circlejerk is disingenuous.

Says the trot mad because they aren't supporting his pet ideology.

Guilty as charged.
That is, if you replace "his pet ideology" with "literally any form of revolutionary socialism."

Go ahead and claim secret knowledge so you can gripe about my supposed motives instead of addressing my arguments, just don't expect any thinking person to follow you.

a shitty comedy show for people too woke to be woke centrists

I think they're funny

Yeah, I loved Exiting The Vampire's Castle too. RIP Mark Fisher. I really liked that excerpt about his depression that Amber read, then hearing he killed himself a few weeks ago made me go :/

Good shit

Anyone have the Chapo discord address

...

Since apparently you can change the essential character of something by getting enough people to wish hard enough

...

Right, parties are nothing objectively more than the sum of their members' individual opinions. I forgot.
Silly me flirting with these extraneous concepts like "class forces" and "material interests."

i love 'em. i subscribe to the premium feed

i'm not expecting them to lead a revolution or anything like some ITT apparently, they're just funny fuckers

pretty sure they know who tankies are, they have a running friendly feud with the more insane online tankies

yeah i got it. if it shared it, however, i'd share episode 1 as well
