#GeneralStrike trending on Twitter

What do you guys think? "#GeneralStrike" is trending on Twitter. They are planning a general strike for February 17th.

Didn't they have one on J20 that only students attended?

Yeah I was wondering how that went. I don't think it trended on Twitter or anything though, I didn't see it making any rounds outside socialist circles.

Yeah but I guess because of the success of women's march and airport protests they're gonna try again.

worthless wanking unless they can get transit unions involved. the new york taxi union did call a brief strike in protest of the muslim ban the other day so maybe they can pull it off (i doubt it tho).

IT'S HAPPENING

isn't less than 10% of the US workforce unionised? this'll never work!

Less than 1% of the private workforce. The guys in public sector unions are usually too well paid to give a shit about solidarity

I think they're trying to appeal to both union and non-union normies, plus students and professionals.

So basically Trump cucked private companies that push pozz shit?

No he BTFO the libcucks and triggered the SJWs by memeing his peppys and redpilling the virtue signaling tumblrinas.

for once I agree with a leftcom, don't bother

DUDE JUST GO ON STRIKE WITHOUT ANY ORGANIZATION, PLANNING, SOLIDARITY, OR CONCRETE & EXPLICIT GOALS WHAT'S THE WORST THAT COULD HAPPEN LMAO

you're right, an honest socialist revolutionary wouldn't strike, they'd shitpost on Holla Forums about irrelevant shiting that day

This is getting such little buzz that I doubt it will make a splash… but all protest against the current regime is meaningful, and an essentially socialist protest amplifies our cause a lot

I'm sick of commies claiming credit for everything good anarchists do.

Best follow up your whining with some impotent and aimless lashing out.

If a grand total of twelve people strike, your employer is still going to sack you for attending this "general strike."

go burn a trash can kiddo

What are some good things that Anarchists have done that Communists have stolen?

CATALONIA REEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I strike every day.

Cart before the horse. This shit isn't going to be effective without some kind of worker's party or organizations putting in the leg work to get something like this to have a meaningful impact. Twitter isn't a substitute for actual organization. Everybody wants something to happen RIGHT NOW without realizing we have a lot of boring, thankless work to do before we get to where they want to be.

Agreed, some sort of party (or several in competition) is necessary to give public unrest an ideological voice and a demonstrative platform. Striking is a tool for collective bargaining, if those striking do not have a platform, they have nothing they can bargain for.

I didn't even consider this, shouldn't there be something that we are expecting the bourgeois to concede?

And what can we expect Twitter to demand?

Solid point. I think this is where I have an issue with the riots and strikes last time. While stuff happened it doesn't mean anything. Both marches and smashies have there place but it means nothing without any form of real organisation or outcome.

This had better not be yet another impotent protest against muh Drumpf.

What success?

Largest mass protest in U.S. history

That isn't success. Nothing has changed or will change because of it.

oh i'm sorry i guess admiring the ability of people to organize en masse on short notice is not a good thing because at the end of the day they didn't storm the White House

That's something of an understatement. They didn't just fail to storm the White House, they failed to do anything besides jerking themselves off over how brave and united they were. But I guess I'm in the wrong for asking for actual results.

Nobody remembers Bastille Day because they went for a stroll.

I don't have a job, but if I did I wouldn't want to lose it by joining a general strike which I know wont get trump out of office, because it will probably only last a day.

Russian revolution

A general strike for what? A general strike with no demands (or no revolutionary intent but let's not rush things) is not a strike, it's an impotent spergout that will achieve exactly nothing.

To what end?

It is a very, very good thing that people are embracing the idea of a general strike, but I don't think the organization is there to make it effective yet.

against racism and drumpf

Lmao this is what anarchists actually believe!

these are both good things to dislike

I'm sorry for off topic but does anyone have that screencap about Marx and victoria woodhull

thanks

This applies to the woman's march– a failure– however the airport protests did successfully shut down several major airports for a while. That's a actually a real form of resistance and despite my normally sour mood towards liberals I will say that one was a good step
