The really weak result had the severe misfortune of coming out in 2012 a few months after Skyrim, which for all its faults is better in every way. Schilling is poor as fuk now despite having a long successful baseball career. Poor dumbass.

It's the other way around, at least KOA had some form of combat. Skyrim's exciting and epic combat involved standing in one spot and mashing the power attack button. At least the three different classes in KOA actually felt different. At least it took some ideas from God of War rather than failing to copy it's predecessor like Skyrididthe to Oblivion.
But that's the problem everything about the game is best described as "At least it's not Skyrim". Which makes it 5/10 at best.

This game is one of my buyer's remorses. The demo made it seem so promising with the story and worldbuilding. Almost felt like it could bring back the memories of the first time I played Morrowind after finding Morrowind in the bargain bin for $10. But it just ended up being rather boring and mediocre instead of rather being a hidden gem instead.

For all its faults, the game had a lot of neat little things in it
The big countries reflecting the seasons made it feel like you were going on a big long ass adventure despite the moment to moment gameplay feeling like a single player MMO
Using a magic class replaced your dodge roll with a short range blink
There were magic shields that were just talismans that projected a forcefield
The last DLC was about living greek statue people, which is a 10/10 race concept

If there is one specific area that could improve kingdoms of amalur dramatically it's enemy/encounter design. It already has good combat moves, if only it had enemies that made use of that and were fun to fight it would be a solid 8/10. There's no fixing the "MMO feel" of the world without going back to the drawing board, but the combat could have sold it.

the game lacked in almost every department except combat. the three different playstyles made it fun. you could literally max out half of each skill set and some high tier spells of every class and pull some crazy ass combos. my favorites were might and magic combos. the big ass sword with the chakrams was super fun to use, you could juggle the enemy like crazy. They had something good goin with the game sadly it will never reach its potential. this time line sucks
