Even though they wasn't amazing, Bridge of Spies and Tintin were pretty good film. Spielberg overall these last few years has been pretty shitty, and after all the delays in making this, I have no hope for this, mostly for the source material.

I read this book a while ago because a lot of people around me recommended it. Its a shitty second life inspired adventure where they set up this post apocalyptic type world, but it's not really and it goes no where. The character has to go through a bunch of 80's inspired zones in order to get the creator's treasure, which everyone looks up to as a god for some reason. It feels like no one really was looking for the treasure beside this one kid and a corporation that can't figure out jack shit from reading a single book that has all the secrets about the creator. Most of the """references""" is the author just naming random 80's things. Most of the Keys are found by doing 80's related things like playing Zork, reenacting scenes from 80's films (War Games), Finding the easter egg in Adventure and ect. The main villain organization is so incompetent that they can't kill the two kids solving all the puzzles (Wade and Art3mis) or figure out how to get an in game extra life (perfecting Pac Man, Wade does this to get Plot Armor at the end battle). Overall the characters are uninteresting and serve as vessels to tell plot and 80's references.

TL;DR the only thing to remember about the book is the absurd amount of listing 80's things.

I think you missed the whole point of the video. He's not just saying that they can make their posts more popular, he's literally saying that you can control peoples' thoughts and opinions by using said system. By giving your post +1000 or +2000 upvotes, you make it seem like it's something big and everyone is onboard. This is because human beings have a natural tendency to try to conform. Michael Stevens did an experiment about it in Mind Field, where he proved that subjects might notice the right answer for something at first .. but in a big group of people who all say the wrong answer, they begin to doubt themselves for saying the right answer until they too start saying the wrong answer. Human beings have a natural inclination and desire to fit in and conform with the crowd. Only 1 in 10 test subjects was unwilling to do so. Which perfectly mirrors real life population, they say that the smart part of the population is less than 10% of the population. That 1 subject basically exaggerates the number a bit up to 10%, but it's accurate to a tee.

You can say something that is factually wrong, and as long as you can make people think that enough other people believe it, they too will begin to believe it. And that perfectly describes GamerGate's opposition. When your friends and peers are all vehemently against something, and claiming something factually wrong, do you throw your social life to the wind, or do you conform and fall in with them? There's been a few people who started strong on either side and changed sides (Nyanners from GG to AGG, Laci Green from AGG to .. well, not quite AGG and not quite GG, etc).

You could think that it's all based on personal beliefs and how people refuse to change their philosophy and beliefs .. but it's a bit more complicated than that. We always hear about how schools can't afford this or that, now imagine adding the burden of doubling the number of teachers to have only 15 kids per class. People would be more confident in the schools, so the population would increase faster, so now you need more kids. And with the schools barely able to afford teacher salaries already, now you're putting twice the salary burden on them. What's your solution, halving the teachers' salaries? That ain't gonna fly with ANYONE in the job. Make schools private institutions that require parents to pay? Then that defies the law that every child must attend education, because only the middle class and upper class would be able to pay for tuition.

The only "solution" to the idea that your kid could end up being left behind in a classroom that's too big is to be your kids' teacher. Which means you need to go be taught how to properly teach. And then there's the social factor, homeschool kids are practically fucking retarded. There's no magic bullet.

Homeschool kids can turn out okay, but it takes a lot more effort than most parents are willing to put into it. If there's a strong network of parents who organize trips or group activities for their kids (even group instruction), if the public schools are willing to let them participate in the schools' extracurricular activities, then they can turn out as reasonably well-adjusted as pretty much any kid.

But parents are often either too lazy or too incompetent to handle this, leading to socially retarded kids. They may get better over time, but they're still gonna be weird.
