It creates a sense of fairness for the free user(premium players have the same stats), and provides an avenue for infinite spending without actually forcing you to spend infinitely(you buy a new skin because you like it, not because you'll fall behind in statistical advantages if you don't).

Gambling addiction

Pants shitting retards enjoy paying for the chance of shinies.

/thread

Gambling is stupid.
I'd rather just pay for expensive drinks at their bar. At least i'd get something out of it.

Better question: How can people like the skins?

people are stupid.
The casino u went to is making profits

Children and manchildren. This type is pretty much entirely defined by few traits, among which extreme envy, pride and spitefulness. Skins cater to those while simultaneously exloiting to extract shekels.

A replacement for actual skill for casuals to display. Something to fill the void because most of them are husks with no personal identity. It looks like some faggot nerf toy instead of an ebil black assault rifle, so their retarded liberal parents let them fuck around with it because they don't want to actually parent.

...

Because people are superficial and retarded attention whores.

Why do women spend $$$ on fashion and makeup?

Makeup on a whore is more useful than skins in a game.

(You)

no it's just gambling

no idea why i quoted the same post twice

Goyim being goyim

I don't know why these CSGO skins are suddenly so desired. 99% of the high priced skins in this game look like shit, it's the kind of skins that flooded CS Banana and were given low scores. Who the fuck wants a pink lightning AWP, that shit is just distracting and looks terrible.

Simple, these kinds of skins where given a low score on gamebanana becuase they look like shit and no one actually would want to use them if no one else could see them. With skins that other people can see, it suddenly becomes about standing out and being "unique".

this.

Valve has been experimenting with paid mods far longer than anyone else. They did it with CS, DoD, and Left 4 Dead. TF2 has been their self-proclaimed test bed for new ideas, which is why they send every new concept through to the TF2 audience usually first. The TF2 players ate up the hats, ate up the paid cosmetics - things which would have otherwise have been modded in for fun and created a market around it. Bethesda did it all wrong and took a few hints from Valve for their next attempt and it's going to work. They are extremely transparent about it too, they state their intentions very bluntly and the fans eat that shit up.

It's a combination of gambling and supply and demand.
The cosmetic shit seemed like a good model at first since you still get the whole gameplay bit without spending money, but they've brought it to a level where it's essentially exploiting people on the same level as F2P clicker games. Once they're caught in the cycle they're not going to stop spending money. And because opening a crate for $3 ,or whatever it is now, always results in you winning at least a shitty skin, it doesn't fall under the same restrictions as gambling, while still having the exact same psychological effect.
If you do end up lucky and hit that 0.02% chance of getting a rare skin out of a box, it'll be very sought after, no matter how shitty it looks. Those skins will sell back and forth, creating more revenue (Valve takes a cut every time an item is sold on the steam market.)

TF2 was the testbed for all of this and you saw what it turned the game and community into.

Exactly this. When people play the same game regularly, they want little things to spice it up without changing the core. That's what skins do, so they're a good choice for the free-to-play model.

If you can only acquire that item via crates or some kind of randomized method it's pure cancer, also depends how much they charge. And you get get that skin by just grinding

It's gambling addiction, pure and simple. People will try and act like a junkie, make excuses, act like they don't have a problem, pretend they're in control, but that's simply all there is to it. It's addiction to putting those figurative coins into the slot and trying to fin a prize.

It's advertised for free. The users handle most of the marketing, not the devs since they throw their weapons and players view their screen.

Autism.

/thread

No it didn't. Skins were always client side.

And? The other players won't have time to look at your stupid golden gun anyway

what frightens me is that people have flat out not believed me when I told them that skins were free in CS:S
I thought the future of fps gaming would be completely different, but here we are lads

On top of that the creates supply a gambling addiction and create an economy where people with luck, wits, deceit or any combination of those can become really rich of off idiots.
I bought CS:GO on a -70% and it paid me back triple the standard price through a lucky drop of some skins and an IEM crate that costed 40 bucks

The entire point of selling and buying skins is that everyone can see them you fucking retard.

"Addiction" is just a cop out. They're not addicted to anything, they're just have shit all willpower.

Because it's better than pay to win for the long-term well being of a multiplayer game while still giving an outlet to goyim thinking they owe a game money for having played it for a great amount of time. It doesn't feel like a necessary purchase, and it is in fact completely optional. It's easier to part with money when you don't feel like you're being browbeaten into coughing up.

It's the random factor that kills it for me. Selling cosmetics straight would be fine.

People try to explain around it, but this really is all it is. The CS:GO player population exploded after the skins economy got put in. The player counts during the game's first year of release were ~50k, four months after the economy update it was over 100k, and 12 months after that update it was close to 300k. The game itself was relatively unchanged, so the only explanation for the dramatic increase is Valve's willingness to prey on compulsive behaviors for profit. It's pitiful how many got caught in the trap and will deny to their last breath that there is anything amiss with this system.

PC master race.

lol ok mr expert

Literally the most cancerous and ridiculously retarded community in any game ever in the history of the vastness of the eternal endless Universe. No sane human being with an IQ over 70 would ever spend a single cent on buying something in a game that was already bought with real money.

Worse than gambling to be honest. If you actually win one of these skins, what do you get? You're not any richer in real life or any more skilled at the game.

Stupid people.

Hello reddit/cuckchan.

people are gullible idiots who want to think that they have something cool and valuable

Nothing wrong with paying for cosmetics.
You're supporting the game you like, while poorfags don't quit because they get disadvantage and keep playerbase large.
It's the perfect monetization model.

You are thinking the way a marketer would. From a player's perspective skins attract cancerous youtubers, cancerous players who value skins too much and turn the game from what it was into a fag parade.
Additionally it tends to lead to stat items, which over time turn the balance of the game on it's head.
But yeah, sure, the suits love it.

If game is popular - then it will attract cancer, like it or not.
Skins have nothing to do with that.
Skins with stats is different thing entirely and I never touch games with something like that.

I love CS:GO's business model.
I bought a cheap, classic tacticool shooter and made my money back by selling the things I earned which aren't even real.

Name games that stick to cosmetic only. Because games like dota already have events in which you can't participate properly if you do not pay money.
CS ? What else ?

Skins make the game look disgusting, inconsistent, overly designed pieces of shit. They clutter the visuals with their gorrilion effects and i piercing saturation and contrasting colours and make it harder to play. Skins make a game worse to play and the community does turn into a fag parade that is about flaunting your skin and not about the game. Do you think TF2 would have had so many furries and barneyfags if they could play dress up?

couldn't*

At least play something more fun like blackjack or poker.

PSO2? POE? Overwatch?
I want to say warframe, but not sure if skins don't have stats in there, I haven't played it for years.

It's players' choice to do those. Even if the skins at hand are all ultra-serious, people still will find way to make joke characters. See warframe.

No shit, gambling is a dumb time and money waster.
If you could win in casinos intelligent people wouldn't go to work/bank but instead to the casino once a month to get their paycheck.

Oy vey goyim. Buy more crates for skins.
Yeah. The randomness element for skins and cosmetics are straight-up fucked. The amount of dollars a company makes off lootboxes instead of selling the skins outright is batty.

I get that monetization using a lasting revenue stream is needed for long-term development but don't be fucking scummy about it.

Wait, are you really so triggered by skins that you need to disable them?

So the dev simply allows their game to turn garbage but its not their fault. Gun yourself.

pro tip: The House always wins.

meant for

I'm just annoyed at all the faggots rolling around in pink or other "PLEASE NOTICE ME!" neon colors.

Goys made it work.

Yeah, when I heard this back then I was sure it would fail, but for some reason it got so popular it spread to other games. Chivalry, Payday and many other non Valve games have skins now.

And the worst? This will kill modding and allow spread to every other new game. There were a few games I was looking forward too, like Left 4 Dead 3, but that shit can eat a dick now.

Pretty much.

Only time I gambled was a $5 lotto ticket and I won 20.

She sounds black.

...

POE has inventory slot purchases.
PSO2 has premium
Overwatch is ok-ish, yet game of the year version gives you unlocks for the the blizz moba, skins for diablo and cards for heartstone. So it's tied to other games and might soon follow the starcraft 2 routine

...

...

...

True user, very true.

Goys

literally make sterilization/euthanasia of thots mandatory.

That's because you're not the target demographic for gambling shit. Casinos and various other legal to illegal gambling systems make their profits off of people with severe psychological problems, the kind of people who bet a lot, sometimes win a lot but most of all they can get them into "the zone", a trance where they keep playing their obviously house-favoring games just to get that adrenaline rush when they get to win and do so repeatedly. It's the reason why all these shitty mobile and f2p games make copious amounts of money, even when it's just people buying skins without the actual gambling, they feel the rush of adrenaline from the purchase. It's no wonder most of the people hit by addiction are down on their luck salarymen types and housewives in their forties.

And by the way, all legal gambles are actually fair, in the sense that the house is not lying on the rules or the winning, but if you know even a little of probability theory, you'd back off without even glancing at them since they heavily favour the house in almost all circumstances. Even non scummy Three Card Monte games work on the idea that the payouts is outdone by the losses purely by chance.

Does it also mystify you why people buy clothes?

Clothing is real and most of it isn't tied-eye and tron shit.

When womans buy 20 different kinds of the same shit but different colour and detail, yes.

full priced game with micro transactions are never ok-ish. That game can suck a huuuuuge dick.

Yeah, there was some female only tournament in dota 2 sometime ago and they only managed to get like 5000€ as a price for the first place. Nobody wants to see a bunch of losers play games. Same in real life (John McEnroe on Serena Williams), female players stand no chance against male ones.

as a guy who spends a shitload on clothes, screw you buddy!

This should be fucking illegal. What kind of huge cuck thinks that this is okay? You payed for the full game you fucking retard and yet every single fucking skin is locked behind a paywall or a 0,001% chance of unlock. It's a fucking scam but it's okay since everyone does it hurr durr.

Publishers like this need to be shut down forever.

I'm surprised some of those skin gambling sites are still up. Is it a kind of loophole Pachinko Parlors have because they give prizes instead of money?

The internet became mainstream, this wouldn't have happened pre-2008, but since every faggot plays games now they can get away with it.

Don't be so cruel, #1 female chess player is only 2 Elo below #100 chess player in the international standings.
Kitchen Bandits (or something like that, korean team) were amusing in Season 2 of League of Legends

Only overwatch and whatever game doesn't have a market is cuckoldry, if you're smart and game has market you'll milk losers by selling them shit while you use stock skins
CS:GO can pay you back if you're smart, good at scamming and lucky.

Do no women on the internet know of the mute button? Why is it so hard for them to ignore this shit?

Name a single multiplayer game where people didn't went full retards.
Play singleplayer ones if you can't deal with that.

Not about giving prizes, it's about the fact that cash isn't being thrown around directly.
Pachinko parlors give you tokens for your money, Valve gives you keys for your money.
Not sure how the sites work since I'm not a fag but as long as they do the same they should be ok.

...

Because it lowers the cost (often to zero, but not always) for most players, which makes the game more popular via accessibility, while still being profitable and sustainable by exploiting "whales", without jeopardizing the gameplay or pacing of the game itself.

Really sticking it to the man, aren't you?

I can mute retards, I cant disable cosmetics.

Stopped playing cs:go like 2 years ago or something like that, but back then when it was released you could easily make good profit. I was playing cs:go since the beta, and played until operation phoenix. I pre ordered cs:go for 12€, the operation pass costs 5€, one dropped case was 4€-6€ back then and you would get like 2 a week. You could earn your money back within weeks. I bought 2 more cs:go accounts and used them to farm drops. I got like 25€ profit.

Well duh. You either keep playing or fuck off.
Or cry about it on anonymous image board.

Witnessed.
Thanks, user.

It's the parent's fault if the kiddos can waste their money on dumb shit like this without them knowing, more so if they get hooked into gambling.
Either way it's not like anyone's gonna wanna stop if just because of dubious morality, it's a massive market with massive profits.

ooga booga fuck the free market because people are have meaningless lives and will try to feel the gaping hole in the place their soul was with consumption.
Ebin, how's war on drugs going?

Claimed Sherlock Holmes. The others were already claimed by others.

Good point, they deserve their credit cards maxing out and their bank accounts emptied because they gave their children free of their money on fucking cosmetics.

Thats what they are for, pickle-face.

You'd think that Valve's shills would prefer to shill in places like cuckchan but here we are, having to deal with them in an obscure board like ours.

Horse armor alone caused an uproar and now microtransactions are everywhere and fully supported by the majority as well as on disc dlc.
Normalfags betrayed us.

They were never with us.

Dubs confirm.
Keep crying I guess.

Also to add, with bethesda pioneering microtransactions in singleplayer games I won't even be able to do that too.

It's not the problem of supply existing, but problem of demand existing.
Like drugs, killing yourself from dope overdose is a welcome alternative to continued existence for many americans now.
Not to mention you're confusing cynical micro transactions with malevolent gambling and market schemes.
Paid mods will be a reality to because the consumerbase doesn't care and if they can give more money to corporation which is the closest they've had to a friend they will.
But go ahead try to fight the effect and not the cause (^:

This shit, 100000%
There's tons of sites set up explicitly for gambling on CS:GO, and often times they use skins as a means to place bets and receive winnings. Also, kids who can't get mommies credit card will buy and sell skins to get money for steam games.

Final warning, Either fuck off back to >>>/suicide/ or there will be no more (You)s

Where did I say that it is okay to have skins in games?

Your attempts to stop it are as successful as war on drugs.
because even though dope, heroin or whatever else you want to kys with people are still buying it.
And yes, valve model is better than blizzard because you can make profit off of it, and if instead of getting aspained on East-Asian digital entertainment board you got rich enough to crash the markets you could fix it.

I don't really know how overwatch's system is working, but does overwatch also sell skins that costs over 200€? Because it's nice that you get the chance to make some profit out of it, but what is the point of that if you can't get the best skins.

They're untradeable, so I assume it's just skin codes from events

Is it true you have to BUY sprays in new CS?

Yes, and Overcuck does it too.
This will likely become industry standard.

Yep. Not only that, but they have only 50 uses each.

I read in one thread that skins cost like 1k points, whatever that is in real money. I don't know but Overwatch seems to be total cancer. The goty version does not include all skins, which is imo totally jewish. They did this in Borderlands 2 too, release a season pass and goty version of the game, and those don't give you access to all DLC.

normalfags need to stop playing games.

Are you serious?
Drones actually defend no more hentai sprays and that shit?

Thats Mega XLR right?

The house always wins. Why? Because even when customers win THEY DON'T QUIT.

People don't walk away when they're ahead.

Probably. I've have that one sitting in the folder for a long time.

Someone who actually plays Overwatch here to clarify this because you people are embarassingly uneducated about the things you hate.

Overwatch has a special event every 2 months or so in which they introduce new skins, avatar icons, sprays, poses, etc. for most of the characters. These items can only be acquired during the event. Everything unlockable in the game is purely cosmetic. You can win all of these items in the loot boxes you get from leveling up or winning Arcade matches. During events, you're guaranteed to get at least one event-exclusive item in each loot box. The alternative to winning the items by chance is spending gold on them. Gold is also awarded in loot boxes randomly, there's no way to earn it or buy it with real money, which is stupid if you ask me. It should be given out as a prize for something but it isn't. the only real cash transactions possible in Overwatch is purchasing loot boxes, and there is no guarantee the purchased ones will contain anything you want. They're just as random as earned ones. Normalfag manchildren with too much disposable income drop tons of cash on loot boxes during events, but there's nothing forcing you to do so.

There is no "GOTY" version of Overwatch. There was Origins edition at the start which included some exclusive skins that have not been available any other way since. For the 1-year anniversary the game went on sale, but I've never heard of a GOTY edition with extra content. All of the maps and new characters have been free for everyone who bought the base game.

And of course he uses the "nobody is forcing you " argument. Nobody is forcing you to play a garbage game too.

LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE UNLOCKABLE ITEM IS COSMETIC.
The only money I've spent on the game was the initial purchase, and I get new game modes, maps, and characters periodically. Stay retarded.

Inb4 the triggered autist because crowbcat

HE WILL NEVER EVER get a chance to get the money from muh skins back either.
something you can do in CS:GO or DotA 2 as shit as they might be.

There is one.>>13086297
That doesn't make it okay. But since you play that game, can you answer me one questions? Is it possible to unlock every single skin in a reasonable time or for a decent price?

People are just vain as fuck and want to spend a bunch of their mommy and daddy's hard earned money on terrible looking trash that barely looks decent in the first place, and then spend some more just so they can have a little number on their gun or a little effect on their knife or whatever.

its beyond that because then you could just mod the game personally. its showing off your shit that's a major factor for these assholes

Is that Gemanistany? Poor guy.

I think it's just the mere fact that they have to have something that's "rare". I don't have the image on me(in fact it may have been posted in this thread but I'm too lazy to look up) but there's this guy who was complaining that a certain TF2 weapon lets you temporarily use other's weapons, and he was livid that others had the power to use his super ultra rare whateverthefuck and how that diminished its value or whatever

again it goes back to showing off your shit and the ever popular exclusiveness because owning a ps4 and bloodborne wasn't enough

I feel it's a double piece of shit with Overwatch because you're already paying for the game, and then you're paying for cosmetics again, and to top it all off it's the annoying crates type of deal where you're supposed to gamble for so long just to have a minute chance at what you really want.

I just don't get it, looking at the prices for knives in CSGO they command anywhere from $50 to $1800. And for what? Some piece of junk that you barely look at and only pull out every now and then for mere seconds? I mean with skins I kind of get it, you get different effects and different voice lines and whatnot but I'll never truly understand CSGO cosmetics.

I "get" why purchasable weapons skins would be available for real or fake currency but what i don't get is why they all look fucking terrible. In CSGO one of the more sought after skins makes your weapon look like a nerf gun for fucks sake. Even theme-breaking character skins make more sense to me than covering your gun in ligtning bolts or turning it lime green

wtf, I thought the market was limited to like 350€ or something like that. Since when are people allowed to sell shit for over 1k?

Nothing wrong with that, Germany is fine.

you sluts just want somethign to keep whinning about

Except most of the big cosmetic systems are for pay2play games you double slut

knife autists, im sure all knew at least one kid obsessing over knives when we were younger. now the weak willed bastards get to experience gambling addiction along with knife addiction. basically getting super high from that instead of doing drugs like a normal person

mmhmm
Why would you want to? Haven't you ever achieved EVERYTHING in a game and then dropped it entirely because you felt you had nothing left to do? Have you finished the main quest in an RPG and never gone back for the leftover side quests because it's "over" now and you lost the motivation? Constantly having something to look forward to makes it more fun. Splatoon kept adding new weapons, gear, and maps to keep people interested and I don't see anyone shitting on that game. It's impossible to earn all the gear in Splatoon in a short amount of time. It's impossible to earn everything in COD or Halo or CS or [insert other FPS here] in a short amount of time. Your logic is shit.

...

You have no reading comprehension. To be perfectly fucking clear, the only money I've spent on overwatch is the base game, everything else was free. Try reading posts and reply chains before chucking shit everywhere you fucking monkey.

user, your picture shows checkers, not chess.

oh shit the little rose someone tries to hand him but he doesn't notice, thats cute

Its not about you for starters even though you are still giving shekels to the chink overlords. Its about the gorrilion of retards who do pay for that shit. And these retards never stop at a single purchase.

No, because usually the gameplay is fun enough to make me continue playing. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 would come into my mind for example. The day I bought it I noticed everything was locked so I downloaded a savegame wich had everything unlocked. I am not a fan of grinding.

it seems to exist outside of Germany too
playoverwatch.com/en-us/blog/20793056

I noticed that while grabbing that image for that post too but didn't bother to change it. Guess I wasn't paying attention when I saved it.

The difference is Splatoon, Halo, and COD don't obscure items behind RNG loot boxes which can be "rolled" for actual money. It's okay for you to admit your favored multiplayer cancer game employs freemium mobage mechanics to keep the revenue train chugging.

Are you really arguing that cosmetics are the true content of these games?

It all goes back in the box.

I still remember the times of "press alt+f4 to unlock the golden deagle". Who would have thought that unlocking a golden deagle would one day become real in this screwed up way.

there are sites which will be a middleman to real cash transactions for skins all while taking a part of the dosh.

In what major way is this thread different from the Horse Armor cuntery of old? The ride never ends, welcome to hell; every day manages to be the same and yet worse than the day before.

Because they're flashy as shit gun skins, and people will eat up an attention getter than something relatively reasonable.

I created a few gun skins just for laughs back just to practice 3D painting and the ones I ended up getting the most hits on were Five Nights at Freddy's and My Little Pony themed guns. The serious one I actually made ended up getting none at all.

pro tip, next time don't say that you made it.

Do the creators of skins get money? Or do only Valve made skins cost money? How exactly does all this money making work?

Luna one almost looks like it's texture is missing, It really needs more star-sparkles.

Already pulled all of my workshop stuff off months ago, it wasn't worth the effort to try and make skins that would be beat out by neon striped piles of shit that would make any real shooter military or competitive laugh their ass off at how stupid they are. I liked subtle skins.

They get 20%-25% or so, same as paid mods and other workshop content.

I made the Luna one when I got pissed off and was convinced bright nerf guns get more hits than actual believable gun skins. I wasn't doing that one seriously and I spent maybe 3 minutes tops on it. I was right with my prediction which is why I stopped skinning.

Fucking what? How do they get away with this? Not only the idea of paid content, but only 25% fucking percent? Is the Counter Strike community even worse than the Skyrim community, who at least call out the cancer of paid mods? Thank god i stopped somewhere along CSS.

Actually, that's not the whole story. Many casinos will enforce a minimum amount of consecutive plays before letting the poor customer go. This is to avoid scenarios where an extremely lucky faggot waltzes in, bets once, wins and leaves. If they know it's your first time they'll also try and incentivize your first wins to make you feel like it's the legit thing instead of a huge scam. On that note, some friends once managed to make a rather meager but still considerable by their standards win at a Bingo parlor and got their wins withheld because they were allowed to enter despite being underage just to scam pocket money out of kids.

I always wondered what would stop a level headed person from exiting after making a profit

Is this what inspired no way fag?

It's the same policy in TF2. Valve takes a cut of the profits for implementing it into the game, take the skin as theirs and then for certain thresholds of money earned on the skin they deposit the modder's cut. I've never done paid modding or got any donations for doing modding or game development for the ~9 years modding I've done for vidya so it doesn't bother me much.

What the casinos here do is give new players a certain amount of money to use in the casino games, so that way they can go and play the games and get a winning spree running before they run out of money. Just to make sure people can't just walk in, get money and check out they make it so none of the money you get starting up can be redeemed and has to be played at the slots and tables.

It's not about being triggered by the skins, it about triggering manchildren who are suddenly forced to come to terms with the idea that that $500 knife skin is less than worthless if only they are the ones able to see it.

Casino can banned you and blacklist your name from every casino in the world. That why card counting, which is technically not cheating is "illegal" in casinos

The cost to produce games has risen with inflation but the equilibrium price of games has remained constant for decades. As a result companies see, their profit margins shrinking and become worried about the long term viability of their businesses model. They cannot charge above market value for their game, or they will sell less copies, so instead they create new goods within their game and sell those as well.

yeah i'm sorta familiar with this, pretty much the real world equivalent of calling a good player a hacker for beating you

Isn't that what it means to be addicted?

It's connotative definition had been diluted down to that, but it's denotative definition requires physical withdrawal symptoms, I.e. it excludes "soft addiction".

...

Am I piece of shit for wishing gun stickers were a real thing?

Vegasfag here. You're gay for playing slots. Those are basically just pretty colors to attract suckers. If you want to gamble at least play cards or roulette.

...

Bullshit. In Canada games used to sell for 60, maybe 70 dollars AAA wise after taxes. Now they go for a fucking 100. Companies are just greedy. It's in their nature. And customers are no longer willing to enact boycotts and other methods to push for a situation that is economically advantageous for them. Customers in the vidya industry are like beta orbiters around women. They'll do almost anything, and defend being treated like shit.

Fair enough.

That's because pricing is based off of us dollars and then converted to regional equivalents. Games have cost 60USD for decades, but Canada is shit and the Canadian dollar has been falling on the exchange markets faster than the USD can be inflated, so your prices still rise.

You didn't specify america. there are canadian developers.

You sell a digital comoddity to your user, this digital commodity is a functionally unique item that can have intrinsic value
This allows yooooooooooouuuu! to continue to monetize your userbase while at the same time providing something of value to your player.
This is the ideals set in the creation of the Mannconomy.

Realistically though now, it's more of a pay to gamble system with more in common to freemium monetization design. There's very little tying it to the original system, at least in proper games, Team Fortress 2, Counterstrike, you know something that isn't Clash of (Buy More Gems) Clans.

that still doesnt explain why you local made games still arent cheaper

Honestly, probably because the American equivalents are more expensive, and due to the ignorance of customers, the companies know they can increase the price of homegrown games and sell them the same price without customers realizing they're getting fleeced.

Games are distributed globally via digital distribution, and as a result are subject to the same supply and demand as every other game no matter where they are produced (with the exception of China). Because the US is the largest market of video games and one of if not the largest producer of games, the USD is used to determine the value of games inorder to maximize the sales w/n that large market, and then games are adjusted into regional equivalent prices from there.

...

Don't post that faggot's videos here.

Oh, I didn't know he was blacklisted or something.

Most people are fucking stupid and will buy shit like that. The reason why it keeps getting worse is because people buy it, so companies think "oh they bought it so they must want more" and now more companies are starting to do it because they know stupid shits like you are out there with money to burn.

jew-kun, that's some bullshit if I ever saw it. Oh and you conveniently ignored physical distribution. You know games still are sold physically right?

I thought his video was liked before ? What happened ?

He's an outrage whore, webm his shit.

care to elaborate?

not these days kek you can digitally download anything

Every time he makes a video, at least three threads are made about it and every thread related to the topic gets spammed with it.

He uses feigns outrage and has been caught lying about certain issues with things in order to generate views.
He also shills here whenever he shits out a new video.

I didn't say solely, I said still. Unless you're trying to imply games aren't sold physically anymore?

If physical games are cheaper than digital games people will only buy physical, which the developers don't want because physical has a lower profit margin than digital. As well, if you sell a game at a lower physical price in some locations you will get importers selling the game at that lower price, which undercuts your physical copies you're trying to sell elsewhere.
The only way around that is region locking, which can result your game being boycott entirely.
Companies where the cost of production is cheaper sell their games at market value, like every other company. You shouldn't expect someone to sell for less than equilibrium price just because they can.

No. The Jews look at what maximum price they can get away with. In Brazil (at the low end of civilization) that's maybe 10 dollars when in Northern Europe ( the pinnacle of human achievement) new games can cost 70 euro.

It has little to do with ACTUAL cost.

Yes, that is what I'm saying. That's literally exactly what I said it's called supply and demand. And it's not Jews, it's everyone in a Capitalist system. That's what Capitalism is.

Fancy words, but it's obvious you're trying to justify companies fleecing customers of their own country to increase prices because they can drive the market higher. Just because they can doesn't mean it's a good thing. It's a sign of a weak customer base that accepts being abused.
This already happened recently actually.

Paradox increased prices on their games because keys supposedly being bought internationally were supposedly being sold for cheaper to other countries where the prices were higher.

Nevertheless, the prices were rolled back due to backlash and it serves as a dual example;
1: Of your claim games might be sold cheaper to others
2: That games are already being sold cheaper to other customers.
Despite the price hikes the games were still being sold cheaper to Russians and others compared to the western counterparts when you contrast the amount paid after conversion rates, showing there are already games being sold cheaper in different regions as it is. It's all apart of greed and what the customer is willing to take.

As for customers importing cheaper, you understand that shipping can be expensive right? And companies still make money, especially money they were willing to sell to those regions. However you cut it, it's a matter of greed on the part of the company and the unwillingness of the consumer to defend his position.

Jesus. Do these poor souls at least get real cash or is it deposited in the steam wallet?

its horrible gambling-like system that takes advantage of people to sell them virtual items that dont exist and that they dont actually own
this is worse than regular DLC
it works because its an artificial economy fine tuned to your desires

That's communism, which has been through debunked already so I won't bother.
I will admit that I over generalized, what I should have said is companies will try to avoid and minimize regional price differences so as to not undercut themselves, but will create regional prices for extreme demand deficits like in russia. These very poor countries do constitute other markets due to both linguistic, cultural, and economic boundaries. My statement about games being sold on the same market was, in retrospect, only applicable to the Anglo-sphere, Eurozone, and Japan.

We live in a world now where "but I really want to do X!" is considered a withdrawal symptom.

Remember, the house always wins

They enjoy it.

I actually did some math on this a while back and the only way you can be ahead on the crate bullshit is if the RNG blesses you and decides to give you top rarity shit within the first 5 to 10 opened crates or something like that. Which is a ridiculously low probability so you'd be better off just selling off your crates for literal pennies.

Of course it is. This show needs a re-make with better animation.

>tfw no season 3 with the reveal that Coop actually created the Glorft by accident

As long as there are shallow faggots who NEEEED their gun to match their gaudy out of place outfit, Queers who NEEEED to feel that they're special somehow and grandstanding gaylords who want to stand out from the players *not* stupid enough to part with cash for some garbage cosmetics you'll have someone willing to exploit them and in a way they deserve it.

Short story

It's a combination of gambling and economics, friend. Think of each skin as a casino chip. As it is a casino chip, it can only be used within that casino. Like casinos, Valve will ensure that more people are putting in more money than that is being taken out of by ensuring the probability of winning big is low.

This is already sleazy as is, but Valve has also created their own stock market. People can't reclaim chips directly from the casino, but they can trade with customers to get casino credit in which they can buy video games. You might be thinking to yourself at this point: but how does the market determine the potential value of an item? Each chip doesn't pay you a yearly dividend like stocks do, so why do some go up and some go down? How is there any movement when the seemingly the only things backing each chip are how cool a person thinks it is? To encourage movement, Valve has massive sales during the summer and winter, where people want to pick up video games for cheap and proceed to sell their chips at these times for casino credit. These chips mature until the next sale.

tl;dr Valve is its own casino and stock market, and they control the movement of the market with Steam sales

It's gambling by a different name and without the strict regulation.

I'll never understand the appeal of skins like this on firearms. Camo patterns that reflect the environment the gun is being used in are greatl. Sometimes a fancy-ish chrome skin on an M1911 can be nice, and palate swaps like olive or tan stocks/handguards/pistol grips usually look good. But that's about it,and even then nothing beats plain looking AR's and AK's.

Shit in that pic though is absolutely disgusting.

Because Valve experimented a lot with that shit and found out that "people" prefer ugly/flashy skins that stand out instead of decent looking/realistic ones.

No wonder you had no fun, slots are the second most passive form of gambling, and thus the second least fun.
For those wondering, the first is lotto tickets and pull tabs

I totally hate that shit. I get invited to cs:go matches by friends every once in a while, and the skins are total cancer. People have shit taste.

...

There were plenty of servers that had a shitton of skins downloaded let you use them for all to see.

I've actually done work on my real AR to make it look fancy (I've changed the muzzle device since this photo was taken). You really have to be tasteful and know what you're doing when customizing guns.

Looking at the prices CS skins go for vs. the cost of my duracoat+custom dust cover, the real, physical objects cost less than a shitty skin. Holy shit.

He made a video about the Switch.

yep, those knives they sell for over 1k in game are not worth shit in real life.

...

How detailed.

But why? Is your red dot not capable of co witnessing?
You'd be better off with a plastic GI Handguard, you can even mount magpul rails to them and stick on a light or laser

for shame
