My theory is that during Infinite's attack, some no-name civilian furry loses everything, then does something to get stronger/magic powers/science. This civ then realizes he becomes Infinite, so he goes back in time to attack to make sure he can be created. It's like Ourroboros in Red Dwarf. He's "infinite" because he can't die as he creates himself. Sonic then has to re-write time which means he can't have met Classic Sonic. Hence the Fist-Bump song talking about not being able to see a friend and reminiscing about working together and signing off with "one last fist-bump". That or the custom character becomes Infinite, and the song is about Sonic and his new best friend [Custom Character] having to sacrifice all their adventures and memories of each other to save the world.
