What is the proper way to respond to what Michael Tracey calls "cool kid media?" A lot of these people claim to be socialists now, not Liberals. I don't fucking buy it.
You know who I'm talking about. Shitty bloggers, journalists, and "comedians" who use:
-The garbage extreme idpol of Liberalism -The overeagerness to shit on poor Trump supporters rather than convert them to our cause. -The constant use of snark, irony and sarcasm rather than any substantive conversation or debate -Eagerness to shit on "BernieBros" and Brocialists, despite claiming to support Bernie themselves -A devotion to waging Twitter wars all the time in the name of the Left.
Shit is exhausting. These people ruin DSA meetings and worse, create Nazis when they start screaming at random people online. I can't fucking stand 'em and it makes me want to do nothing with the Left.
Where do the normal socialists go to hang out? Every socialist in LA seems fucking nuts. Hollywood and Media has a toxic effect on our environment.

Tracy is 100% right on here. I don't think there is any way to dismantle this festering cancer on Twitter or Facebook. They are all vpusually very uninformed and uninterested in anything but one upmanship on social media. I actively have debated them on issues and found that they can be crushed by strawmans (which in reality is all their ideas are) basically

This drives them insane. They have no response because they are usually caught up in IdPol so far anything they say that legitimates white peoples issues can be screencapped and used against them
Another way to combat them is to ask them what they have substantively invested in real life into communities of color besides maybe a trump protest. Usually these people are as politically active as the slacktivists they can assume to be.

What experience with/inside various Socialist organizations in Hollywood/Los Angeles have you had? I'd love it if you could recount as I'm looking to join up instead of merely lurking about at events and actions, but obviously the landscape is almost impossible to navigate. The swell in DSA numbers is heartening and yet also makes my lib/idpol alarm go off for the very reasons you mention. Not that the DSA already doesn't. I'd like to directly involve myself with a group further to their left that doesn't get so hung up in theoretical masturbation it never makes it out the door into the community in any beneficial capacity.

Micheal Tracy gained a lot of alt-right followers because he spent the entire election cycle attacking Clinton and basically endorsed Trump because he thought he would be an isolationist. Now that trumps cabinet is full of hawks, cursader and bankers, Chapo Twitter owned him and he's been butthurt since.

Pretending the fight for socialism can be won by radicalizing liberals alone is nonsense; half of them have started attacking Trump from the right now that the election's over.
We need to disillusion trumpcucks, and the way to do that is by attacking their candidate, yes, but also by offering them as human beings a better way forward. If our movement can't embrace them and prefers mocking "dumb hicks" or whatnot, it can never win.
