Overwatch is a seriously flawed game. I genuinely regret buying it. I feel sorry for people who defend it because I honestly feel like the only way to like this game would be through sheer ignorance. That is to say, if you had nothing to compare Overwatch too, if you've never played any other online class-based shooters, then you'll think it's good. The fast-paced gameplay just makes playing it feel autistic and trivial, there's no room for camping or a social-space that make other online shooters good. The match-making system is seriously broken, I do NOT want to go to Arcade just to wait 60 seconds to find a skirmish to wait another 60 seconds in a skirmish to wait another 30 seconds in a character select screen to wait yet ANOTHER 30 seconds before the doors open. Somebody NEEDS to fix that shit. And the character designs feel contrived but that's just how I feel personally.

The reason is because they want to dictate Overwatch tournaments because they own MLG. Keep in mind Arcade mode is SUPPOSED to be casual mode. Who the flying fuck designed this bullshit? And custom games might as well not exist. They are so fucking slapped on and lazily implemented, obviously you can never truly have a custom game because of Blizzards aforementioned Jewish business practices, and so all the custom games are fucking dead aside from the Overgay servers (oh you fucking heard me right, the only active "custom" servers are servers made as faggot social spaces, I wish I were making this shit up)

I actually bought starcraft 2 and was retarded enough to believe the costum mode was going to be fucking great because there were some really promising ones but that shit went nowhere. It really boggles my mind why they would mix ASSFAGGOTS with an class based shooter but apparently it works because it attracts normalfags like flies. Pretty much every normalfag I know now plays overwatch besides LoL. And the real shame is that blizzard is capable of making a good game, at least they have some people with talent left working there.

I think doomfists passive should get an additional passive or even have his current one replaced. What I'm thinking of is kind of complicated but it's something like this:

Basically, the cool thing about doomfist is the idea of landing combos that nuke most oppoents and disrupr movement. The problem is landing the best combos (like slam into fire into rising uppercut into fire into charge fist @ wall into emptying remaining rounds) leave you almost completely immobile and usually in the middle of the enemy, your only defense being the 150 shields from your passive.
With this change, successfully landing a sick combo will be rewarded with escape and continuation options, doing nothing to his skill floor but raising the skill ceiling.

The only redeeming feature about the game is i have friends who play it and am willing to play even the shittiest games with them.

Sombra is meant to do this by getting behind the low health people and finishing them off, but that kinda sucks. Reaper is very obviously meant to do this since getting close to someone to kill them with his shotgun is easier from behind but he screams at the top of his lungs if he uses his teleport.
Genji can sort of do something like reaper since his attacks are more effective at close range versus targets not trying to actively dodge you but still eh.
Ultimately i tend to flank best as fucking roadhog, because he can just refill his health inbetween pickoffs and its easy as fuck to shoot anyone who hasn't noticed you. The flanking classes really fucking suck.

Plus shit like bastion that is intended to be weak to flanking can do a 180 spin in 0.2 seconds.

That's bullshit though. E-Sports does not work at all like regular sports, there's no "scouting and recruiting" of single players. Entire teams make it big or they go home, and by make it big I mean attract investor to market their brand.

No body playing competitive outside of actual tournaments is doing it for the money, people just like to see a little number grading them and work on it while they play. It's really not that different from the mentality of traditional roguelikes and leveling-up, and just like those, it's only a problem if you take it too seriously.

It's a bit of a joke but Casual play in most of these competitive games tends to be more tense than actually Competitive since it's always filled with faggots treating it like it's Ranked (which they don't play for fear of failure)

Anyone hoping to climb ladders in any ranking should do this, but then again you'll be placed against teams of your size as well so here it doesn't give you that much of an advantage.

Honestly queing in groups only really hurts your chances of climbing these days. The matchmaking severely overestimates how much benefit you get out of it, so it tends to place you against people much higher in skill than you can handle, and then it still punishes you as if you SHOULD have won anyway.

I had over 65% when I was up there. Doesn't matter, even with the supposed flaws, if you can't climb what does that say about you?

That really doesn't work. You are welcome to try it, but I'd bet you anything you do nothing but drop until you give it up. Mercy is probably a bit more forgiving in terms of rank gain/loss (most of the people in top 500 on mercy are closer to 50% than what I've seen of the other heroes), but you still have to win games, and getting a 5 res (which is rare as FUCK no matter what you do) doesn't really make much if any difference in your SR change.

I imagine it must have been very difficult to press left click and Q occasionally while getting carried.

As somebody whose aim as Soldier 76 against small targets, not large, small is 43% on average now your problem is not that you are not playing well enough, it's that your team mates can't do fucking anything right because you're stuck with 8+ million people playing comp for your network of choice and maybe only 25K of them take comp seriously and know how to do basic things like turn around, or look up, or switch to hit scan when your team needs it

Comp is just Quick Play with the same retards but with the added stress of a public rank of you being affected because they don't want to switch off their genji/hanzo/widow main

Tracers and genjis are flankers and thus are made to kill healing supports if they get the drop on them because that's what their kit enables them to do with impunity

The trick is to play Mercy and fly away from them, Lucio and wall ride away from them, or be Zender and always be facing away from the battle looking behind you because none of your team has better things to do than protect your healers, but I've you're Ana and your sleep is on CD you are always fucked

You have to remember, in this game hitscan = bad because it allows you to reach out and lovingly touch somebody on the other side of the map and you don't have to lead 4 widths of the target to do so, as such most of the hero cast is either projectiles or incredibly short range hitscan, and giving hitscan to healing support would give them the ability to stop flankers, to which the flankers would just find unfair because people can now shoot them

Most of this games flaws could be fixed by removing projectiles and putting in hitscan for half the current cast that doesn't have it, but that would raise the skill cap, and in a game all about ults the last thing you want to do is raise the skill cap

And the last thing shitty genji/hanzo/widows want is to be replaced

Reaper can flank, but he's actually better for brawling and dealing with dives. He's a tank buster more than anything.
Sombra is also good for countering dive and generally bullying opponents. She's more a support than anything, boosting heathpacks and shutting down enemies heavily reliant on their abilities. Although it doesn't hurt to flank and bully the enemy on attack. In those instances there is pretty much zero reason not to live behind enemy lines, teleporting to the healthpacks you hacked when you pop out.
Genji is a indeed a flanker and is extremely good at it if you're competent.
If many ultimates actually acted like a get-out-of-jail-free-card then the current meta wouldn't be the case.

Winston is the strongest tank right now, ideally paired with D.VA. He's leading the dive/mobility meta.

The problem with this game is that there's little depth and room to play creatively with most characters and is lacking in very nuanced mechanics. It's primarily about compositional strategy and execution. That isn't necessarily bad, but easily boring and frustrating for the individual.

It really is all about that sleep dart. But even if you land it you can't solo kill a 200 health hero with a combo like you used to. Blizz really did a number on Ana.

Soldier and especially Reaper and Torb can instantly shut down Winston, Reaper is a brawler and Torb is an area denial expert where the closer you get to Torb the vastly more dangerous he gets and Torb can kill tanks in his sleep

If you are dive comp and you see Torb, drop everything you are doing and kill that torb because he will eat all your dive comp alive

Ana is the lowest performing healer ATM, Zender is highest but takes the most skill to use, and Zender if he can see his target coming can somewhat defend himself

Point blank against a flanker though he is outright fucked unless he has a charge ready to go or gets lucky with two point blank headshot orbs

You see i want to like this game, but the characters move so DAMN slow. Lucio is a necessity in the game and even then his movement boost got nerfed. It's like they don't want to make the characters move fast so kids can actually shoot at them.

But if characters moved at a minimum of twice as fast they would have to rework all the projectile into hitscan, thus raising the skill cap

I like overwatch at times but it is indeed a casual game that has been made competitive

Not that I can blame you for not paying attention to it, but pretty much that exact thing happens in DotA 2.

At least in the case of Melee, smash has a lot of depth and while it can be enjoyed by people of low skill levels, people with a lot of skill can play at a high level without feeling bogged down by a low skill ceiling. Overwatch just feels overly restrictive.

If you solo queue you shouldn't care about SR.

Your SR in solo queue is literally a reflection of the matchmaking RNG, unless you're so good you can carry your team.

Also Blizzard got a 50% win/lose ratio policy. If you'll do good they'll just shove a nice & long lose streak up your ass. After win streaks I had lose streaks I lost 200 SR in.

Just enjoy the game, play characters you have fun with, don't give a fuck about SR unless you're team queuing.

i actually tried playing seriously for a while just to see how different it is than just playing. i picked the optimal picks depending on what we needed and what countered the enemy and tried really hard. turns out i still lost the lost games and won the others. then i played only mccree and nothing but mccree even if we had 5 dps on our team and maintained the same win/lose ratio as i had when tryharding. i mean, many times i can literally see that i'm carrying the game by myself but i got placed badly this season and on low ratings teamwork can actually hold you back since you're the only one doing it. comp is more or less a joke, i only queue when i want slightly more serious games than qp/ctf and even then it sometimes backfires.

If Blizzard weren't morons and would do skill rating which is based on your individual performance and not your team, it could work great.

When I played Quake Live I always got games exactly at my skill level. Each game was a an intense neck to neck battle. And that's in a game which much smaller playerbase, meaning it's less likely to find players at the same skill level as you.
It did individual skill rating, it didn't do bullshit like 50% win/lose, and it worked perfectly.

they did it the first time around. it was even worse since you basically got punished for playing supports. in premade teams support players couldn't climb as fast as their teammates so they got left behind. in solo q nobody wanted to support because of it. when you think about it there's no efficient way to balance it. either supports get less rating or they get the same while having an easier role to play. you can't do it because the game isn't quake. you can pick easier or harder roles while there are no classes in quake.

Why support got less rating?
it should be given based on their performance. If they did their job well they should climb just as fast.
Sounds like just a very poor implementation of performance measurement.

Quake indeed is simpler because there's no need to balance anything.

cause it was judged by performance. a support didn't get that many kills, they generally got more healing but healing didn't get awarded as good as kills since frankly, it's much easier to do. if they made it so that it would get awarded as well as kills then climbing would be that much easier for support players and good support players would actually climb faster than the dps despite having an easier job.

sounds like comparing apples to oranges problem.
Perhaps a solution is to have SR per character, so you're comparing apples to apples.
It also makes sense since if you rank up as DPS it doesn't mean you're a good support.
