Someone last thread asked what the chances of the AH3LMSS port having good netcode, initially Examu wasn't receptive to the idea of changing the netcode but they've changed their tune since so many people were asking for it. Hopefully it'll be added once they put in the stretch goals for a reasonable amount and maybe we have a chance of having a good tutorial added too, since that's the other thing that people are asking for.

Last year I entered in SFV and got disintegrated by a qt jap loli Chun player, and the year before that I entered in the mini SkullGirls tournament and destroyed some whale who had no idea what she was doing before getting knocked out by competent players.
This year I'm not entered in anything because I dropped SFV, I'm having a lot of fun playing Tekken but by the time I felt comfortable with it I couldn't update my registration to compete.
Going to have fun either way though, going to play casuals and buy swag, drink and root for my friend who entered in KoF and Tekken.

What's the best version of 3rd Strike to learn the game on? I want to play it on PC. I already have it on fightcade and have the NESiCAxLive version but it runs too fast and I haven't been able to figure out how to make it run at the correct speed. I want whatever is closest to the arcade version since I plan on going to locals at some point.

They said it should be up "tomorrow night". I don't know if they meant japan time or freedom time.

I'm just gonna watch KoF XIV and them watch AnimEVO the rest of the time. Damn shame UNIEL is scheduled at the same time as KoF XIV, I really wanted to watch that.

What's it like knowing they ruined SoulCalibur?

I miss the first game when it used to be a great, epic fantasy tale about 17th-century warriors from all around the world. Then 2 came out and, while it was a great game, things started to get weird with the inclusion of lolis and guest characters.

Then SC3 came out and everything went straight to hell, and the series never recovered.

This. A thousand times this. I really tried to like 3, but what they did to Rock was unforgivable. Even when Lizardman stopped being a clone, he wasn't fun to play at all (my old main from 3 and 4 with Seig and Rock).

Then why did they have strech goals instead of just being complete. This was totally on pourpose and shouldn't feature creep like this

the new format for evo really makes it far less appealing to me. it seems like you're basically stuck in a mostly empty stadium on sunday without even the option to go play casuals during the 8 hours of smash that you don't care about and then you have to wait for fucking commercial breaks and whatever inevitable broadcast issue espn runs into and now you can't even bring a bag or shitpost through the boring parts. esports just gives vidya all the worst aspects of sports to with no actual benefit to the people who enjoy the game.

Yeah the no outside shit during finals is probably the last esports straw that's going to break my back. I bought a huge fucking water bottle for evo to avoid paying for drinks at every turn, and if they don't let me bring that in it's going to piss me off something fierce.
Having to find time during smash wont be hard though, you're in a casino. We'll probably grab lunch after Tekken during smash and go back to watch SFV. I'll be sure to post pictures and stuff like last year.

What happened with Tekken 7 is that a lot of people that don't even like fighting games bought it, because e celebs shilled it nonstop, not because they were paid but because it's a big name and every streamer wanted to put videos of the game because that's what they do to get their shekels.

I can see it droping even more in the next 2 months and ending in a stable 2k playerbase.

If i liked Tekken 7 i could see myself giving two fucks about having these graphics when pretty much every other fighting game right now has inferior ones, except maybe DoA, and then also about the color black drama, what i'd be mad about is the balance patches. It seems every issue in a game nowadays must result in a witch burning to please people.

The straw that broke my camel's back in SC4 was when I beat a spammy bitch for a rank up, and the ass-hole managed to rage quit right after the very last blow. Somehow, I wound up getting a loss, losing points out of it. I still have bad memories about SC4's netcode. SC4 has been the only game I ever raged quit because every ass-hole picked the spammiest shit and the same 2-3 stages to get wins (the lag and shit netcode made it a bitch to counter that shit). There was no reason to play any SC past 2 competitively. The only other rage quit I had was in LoL (I stayed for a match, but just fed to piss my team off), and this is from a guy who stomached Dota for a year (for some reason, Lol made me angrier than Dota).

Tekken isn't a casual-friendly game either, which is ironic because Harada intentionally tried to make it friendlier with a smaller roster (Too bad the roster was awful and it got bloated). The irony with the playerbase dropping is the people dropping it are the same faggots who bought into the Eliza "hype" or Chloe "white knighting," probably realizing they're trash-tier losers not worth learning.

What Harada did to Lee, Eddy, and Kuma to save his Mary Sues was pure bullshit. He ruined that game's balance since Vanilla (Jack 7 used to be really good until the end of Vanilla because we gotta save those Mary Sues).

I'm looking forward to the side tournaments way more than I am anything on the main stage.

Lee and Eddy could dish out some decent damage with juggles that used Rage Arts, but they're damage got nerfed. Kuma also had some decent juggle potential, but god forbid anyone competes with Harada's favorites.

USFIV might get a pick up but considering Third Strike only has 8 players. You probably won't get much. Also KI and Skullgirls communities decided they weren't going to Evo any more and CEO/Combo Breaker will be their events so don't expect much at evo because no one from that community is going.

Ironically I found the dating sim aspect of Catherine to be the more shallow aspect of the game. The puzzles could use a sequel to really improve on but it's not a slouch either.

The problem I had with SCIV in particular was that it was on the surface slower and more complicated, but you could just disregard that and do the simplest, most retarded shit and still win with no problems. I also don't know what the balance was like since I gave up on SCIV in about 2 weeks, but I knew that there was bullshit like Hilde being able to ring you out from one combo extremely easily, so I guess it was pretty bad. The singleplayer content was also a real step back, so it couldn't be salvaged at all unlike III where the game was meh, but at least it kept you busy with the excellent singleplayer. Also I'm a Yoshimitsu main and can someone explain what exactly they fucked up about him? makes it seem like they did something major, but since I have very limited experience with IV I have no idea what.

Capcom will likely kill off Duty Fighter V in hopes of moving people to Marvel Infinite. Can't find that forum post talking about the history of EXAMU and the shit they pulled with Arcana Heart 2. I don't remember many details but essentially they made 3 versions of AH2 and each time they made a new version, they would jack up the price for minor additions.

The SF Anniversary Collection on Xbox needed to be reprinted multiple times. Capcom only planned for a limited run, but the demand was so huge that Capcom had to order more print runs (PS2 version had no Third Strike or online play because Sony was dumb as fuck over 2D games back then). The "Dark Age" was more Normalfags only buying Soul Calibur and MK while everyone else was dropping niche titles and getting plaudits.

Doesn't seem bad but the attacks lack impact. The effects of some of the more powerful hits look boring. While it's nice some animations are smooth, the transition to each move is jarring. It doesn't help that her voice is pretty boring.

Yes. Its like asking can you tell the difference between eating a well-done rubber fucking steak and a nice medium rare steak. You don't have to have the palate of Gordon Ramsey to tell that one tastes bad compared to the other.
Its also not the first time I've played MKX, it's the first time I've sat down, thoroughly played and analyzed it. I've played it casually with friends many times, albeit to get my ass whooped.

Examu fucked up by not adding the stretchgoals initially and also by setting them so high. People will dish out a lot for anime, but not this much

The problem is that the animations are shit. The smoothness isn't the problem, it's their gesture. For example, her charge attack. It's supposed to be a shield charge, so she should be throwing her weight against the shield to give it more impact. Basically her body should be at an angle, but she's mostly vertical which makes it look like she's walking or lightly jogging. Compare that to Tsubaki's special which is also a rush attack. Tsubaki's center of balance is very unstable. Her pose is not one that you could hold while stationary, unlike Tyara's. That shows that it's an action pose where she is moving really fast, and this is what helps give animations their oomph. There are also other problems as well, like the recovery animations. This axe attack should look strong, but it doesn't. It suffers from the gesture problem I mentioned earlier, but it mostly feels weak because the axe feels weightless. After the attack Tyara recovers as fast as she starts up the attack. Compare it with May's 6H where she throws her whole body into the attack and takes a while to pick the anchor back up. Also look at Sol's new 6H. Both these moves start fast and the swings aer fast. Where it slows down is the recovery frames. The difference in the speeds of the start and end creates the illusion of strength. Tyara starts her axe up slowly, but recovers from the attack in roughly the same time which makes it feel like she didn't put in enough force or the axe is very light. That, along with the lack of string hit effects, sound effects, and the relatively low amount of hitstun, makes the animations that much weaker. All the animations suffer from these things and it makes the overall game look poor because of it.

Sorry but I have to butt in here. I disagree with you on a couple of things.

Tyara's shield charge attack IS supposed to look like she's walking/lightly jogging. She's supposed to have very graceful movements, they think of her as a "battle ballerina". And you say the axe has no weight, yet its animation looks the same as May's anchor chop animation. The way May wields that anchor makes it seem like it's made of hollow plastic, and this is actually an issue I had with May since the first GG game. Sure, she feigns its heaviness AFTER she swings it, but in the actual swing it looks like she's just swinging an oversized, weightless toy.

In any case, they have regular animation streams on their twitch channel, you can tell them this stuff yourself if/when they have another one. They're still not done working on Tyara.

Everything you really need to learn is what are character's strings have high's, lows, mids and overheads and try to work in launchers. Seeing as it has the block button/no crossups, the 50/50s come from strings. Also poke (crouching buttons) for frame advantage. Watching her video I think what I find off putting about them is how slow and floaty she feels despite being an amazonian type character. "Battle Ballerina" doesn't mean that you move like you have no momentum, it means you are graceful and I think the user who compared her to Tsubaki is more on point with this one. Tsubaki is definitely what you could also call a graceful fighter as well, yet her moves also have weight and impact to them.

I'd also like to see them use some type of particle effect on her weapons because having them appear out of nowhere looks pretty janky.

I'd be inclined to give them some leeway if this wasn't something that had been known in Fighting game animations for years. Even games like Trajes Fatais and Cerebrawl understand how to convey impact and some proper momentum through their visuals. This is less budget and more art direction and game design. I was not aware that Punch Planet used 3D models and maybe this is something the devs are having problems with since it seems like some of the 'Floatiness' of the animations is symptom to their overall art direction. It's alpha so maybe that's just why it looks janky.

I think SF3 was the middle of the end. While the game in itself wasn't bad, it probably wasn't supposed to be a SF. Just like Garou MoW wasn't a Fatal Fury game. These games messed up the franchises too much, changed it too much, and were kind of forced into their respectives universes. MOW did it better, but not much in my opinion.
