While I think the gameplay is great in DoA5, the main thing that people into it in the first place were the women fight in scanty outfits. Censoring that would ruin a lot of the appeal.

The more I think about it, the more glad I am PSO2 never got localized.

PSO2 is pretty much a single player game with optional coop. The way matchmaking works in PSO2, it doesn't force you into a party with other players, just puts you in the same instance, so the few times you actually need a group, it's like playing with NPCs. It's the perfect game for people who like the idea of MMOs but hate the reality of it.

If that were the case Yakuza series wouldn't have made it as far as it did. I think nips are fine with decent male characters. Obviously they are biased towards shallow tiddy games.

Definitely not. Why would high school punks beating the shit out of other punks put anyone off? It also had a good deal of fanservice. The problem was the combat was stiff, lacked variety and the fanservice sections were forced and unskippable. Which really interrupted the flow of gameplay. The combat lacked variety and in some cases, forced you to defeat enemies in certain locations to proceed. That's never fun. Yakuza does everything this game tried to do correctly when it comes to combat. I heard it was made a little better in updates but the demo being bad killed all interest for most people.

I usually import the games myself. If he does censor it, I see no reason to buy them. While I mainly enjoy them because of the gameplay. The dress up and girls are a big appeal to me.

Granted, Senran Kagura is third-party regardless of system, and XSEED handles it for Marvelous here, not NoA, but still.

Far as I've heard, it's mostly Tom keeping XSEED on the whole in line. Something about other employees asking why they don't do what all these other localization companies are doing, and him shutting them down about it.

Tamsoft is a developer, while Marvelous acts as their local publisher for Senran. XSEED being Marvelous' NA branch, they handle the games out here.

Ys isn't made by Marvelous, let alone published by them in Japan. Apparently Falcom has been finding XSEED too slow, and looking elsewhere. An user in the Vita thread that met some Falcom guys at an event recently made it sound like Falcom might be looking elsewhere in regards to new Kiseki games to be brought west as well.

Would be easier to get a message across if whoever does so were to use native, proper Japanese. Like, maybe the Japanon in the Vita threads could help start raising awareness locally, since he lives claims he lives out there?

I think watering down is usually more of an issue on the end of a publisher forcing changes in order to see more profit on future installments. That's not to say that developers can't or won't make changes to "widen the audience" on their own (or that this isn't the case here), but given that publishers are the ones helping with funding, they might risk seeing funding cut if not acquiescing. Just my own thoughts though. And no, Kikestarter and the like are NOT the answer to fixing the issue of funding.

A shit game is shit whether it's high budget or not. The only thing I can excuse is graphics and maybe some framerate issues assuming they don't hinder the gameplay. If your fanservice interrupts the flow of gameplay, then it's a major problem. Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus did this. Where women getting their clothes torn ruined a lot of the flow of gameplay as well as seeing the cutscenes for your super moves. Meanwhile multiplayer cut them to make the gameplay smoother online and it was much better off because of it.

Yes indeed. It was included in an interview about Xenoblade Chronicles 2, or something. What's important is that it wasn't just about XC2, but instead their new standard of (((localization))) practice. Censoring before the game is even finished, in any region, to state it plainly.

With the whole pre-censorship debacle on Xenoblade 2, I've been thinking "Why not just assume the game is censored since they're not going to tell you what changed even if they were making a Mario game? If you are thinking about cut-content then yes it costs more money since they got to go back to change the model and depending on how sophisticated the engine is with animation trees and set-up. You would probably need a miniature team to just change those small things.

So in theory if they would have the miniature team while the main makes the game to make the game more marketable, it would cost less money since instead of a separate version on one continent to another it would be universal.

Marketing departments don't do research on the market for niche games and instead try to chase mainstream audiences. Western publishers and localization teams are pozzed by SJWs who first infect HR departments and use that to gain control of the rest of the team, so the flow of information to the Japanese devs is compromised. The first game they just left cloudy mist on for the entire game instead of removing it for doing better it was really lazy and they didn't say anything until after the game came out. It apparently sold okay though since they put out the sequel in the west as well. For the sequel they announced along with the localization that they were going to censor the game but do a better job this time by getting the artist to redo all the art and rewrite the script and such so there isn't any question of consent. The sequel sold like complete garbage by all accounts.

I never said NISA's first fuck up was Censored Girls. What I'm saying is Criminal Girls 2 was THE game where NISA came out and proudly announced that they are going to censor the game and do it right this time because this is what people want and it will make the game sell better. However it was a giant fucking disaster in terms of the companies perception and in sales plus it still got banned in countries like Australia. NISA are garbage with anything that is not Disgaea and it isn't just limited to censorship and horrible writing they even break games that worked perfectly well in Japanese.

Even worse is that parents don't even bother looking at the rating most of the time. It's a rating that simply exists to either ostracize content (like they tried with Hatred) or force devs to censor. Like we all know how bad GTA is, but the sex scene in the Hot Coffee mod suddenly makes it too much for children.

I like SK games, in fact they're one of the few games I'll actually buy anymore. That being said, the gameplay is middling at best, the over the top ecchi elements are what makes these games fun. The second they attempt selling out to normalfags and SJWeebs is the second I ditch the franchise.
