No
Dinos are cool
fuck you

This. OP is a faggot and should go extinct like his favorite animals.

I would love a sea exploration game made in the prehistoric times.
So many underrated animals.

what vidya? early access survival games dont count because they're not even finished.

Monster Hunter is dying, but at least capcom took inspiration from all kinds of prehistoric and generic fantasy shit. Dinosaurs are cool anyway so I don't get the complaint.

gee some fucking crazy animals you have there OP

No, fuck you.

But gigantopithecus is closer to orangutans than gorillas, faggot.

Play Ark faggot

gigantopithecus is closer to your mom

Pathetic.

Look at this cool shit

First pic was in Dino Crisis 2 I think

...

Not only did you make a shitty template thread but you got BTFO'd by a ubishit title. Impressive, really.

Post sea creatures or get fucked

/threadosaurus rex

I just want a game with a believable and complicated ecosystem.

good AI will never be used to its potential.

3 METERS LONG SEA SCORPIONS

Not until I get a good dinosaur game. ARK is pretty good visually but the gameplay is grindy MMO-lite bullshit that I want no part of.

Anyone remembers this?

...

I had this game, and replayed it not so long ago. Hunting things that could kill you without the radar is tense as fuck.

They released that on mobile with new animals and stuff.

They're releasing the updated mobile version on PC now as well with mod support and better visuals.

...

GIANT ENEMY LOBSTER

Except OP said Mammoths and Farcry Primal pretty much only has Mammoth and generic saber tooth shit.

...

Dinosaurs are just birds.

I know it's summer but apply yourself.

FUCK YOU

today yes, but millions of years ago some dinosaurs were not birds

I hate that monster hunter is mostly wyverns or dragons.
For fuck sake give us some cool non-lizards capcom Seltas Queen is one of my fav bosses.

Isn't it the other way around? Birds are dinosaurs

Any games were I can be a qt cavewoman riding dinosaurs?

Chrono Trigger

But thats a rpg and I think riding dinos is not part of the gameplay.

That's the only two animals that ever existed faggot.

There's always that first chapter from EVO.

Well technically you ride a pterodactyl in the past, but that's just to get around the overworld.

It's sad how the effects on these "Walking with X" got progressively worse with each new iteration.

EVO was so good

...

keepvid.com, user. Don't run Google scripts in your broswer - ever!

I'm sure you're not the only one but I'm also sure there isn't much more than a handful of people like you. It would be nice if more people were interesting in things that are actually interesting. Oh well.

It's a fine game, but I am annoyed that once you make it past the amphibian age you can never remain an actual reptile save for the turtle. Fucking dinos aren't reptiles in the first place but developers always pretend they are and pass over high quality animals in doing so.

I wanted to kill the fish man army as a massive gator, damn it!

Are you stupid?

Don't worry billy, I'll hold your hand. Next you're going to tell me birds aren't small dinosaurs.

So humans are just hairless monkeys right?

Are you confusing reptile with lizard?

I know inner-city funding for schools is in the toilet, but goddamn son read a book.

No wonder jews are autistic

Wait, we were dinos and shit?

But birds aren't small dinosaurs. Birds have feathers.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_non-avian_dinosaur_species_preserved_with_evidence_of_feathers

So what's heavier, a kilogram of bird or a kilogram of dinosaur?

Actually, birds are dinosaurs. They're the only living dinosaurs.

Dinosaur, they are heavier than birds.

Do you have any recommendations on some documentaries or books about ancient life then? I always find this stuff pretty interesting.

Why the hell do I keep encountering furry porn while looking up images of Paleozoic lifeforms?

dinosaur

birds gots feathers

Is it furry porn of Paleozoic lifeforms, at least?

Stop using google, you furry faggot.

Nope. Just awful special snowflake western furry characters.

I was actually using Yahoo, which isn't any better.

It's like you want them to come out and shitpost with smug furry images.

Where are the feathered dinos? I hope for the day where the feathered dinos appear in videogames

I would rather enjoy a button for preening.

fuck me

OP is right, go be a faggot somewhere else

There's giant fucking terminator pigs for example. Prehistoric mammals are cool as shit.

Fuck birds. We need to finish what that kuiper belt object started.

But birds are the most evolved beings on this planet, with some insect competing. Thye ve had all the time of the world to reach perfection
t. birdfag

Not Terror Birds though. The Utahraptor-Chocobos are cool.

guild wars 2
but it's shit

If your wondering these are the sequel/prequel to Walking with Dinosaurs.

Pbs' Dinosaurs series is fantastic. Discovery's series with Jeff Goldblum isn't bad either, but some people complain because it uses footage and music from paleo world. I'm afraid I can't help you with older and more recent epochs though, but Walking with Beasts/Monsters may be a place to start.

I'm sick of the fact they are depicted without feathers because "muh its too hard wah"

the issue here is that while its perfectly reasonable to describe Dinosaurs as reptiles, especially since I usually hear the term reptile as a synonym for diapsids it generalizes the term to the point where its essentially worthless, since birds would also be considered reptiles in that case
its perfectly fine to use, but if you consider dinosaurs reptiles then by extension birds are reptiles as well

I am mad that this doesn't exist. It does in modeling systems but never in vidya. We have the tech to do it but devs are too dumb.

Turok user

And Pterodactyls WERE NOT Dinosaurs

Holy fuck, that still triggers me when I see mix Petrosaurs with Dinosaurs.

Big ass cents.

...

They're the same thing :^)
sage for doublepost.

FUCKING DUMBASS

Alligators are closely related to birds, in fact, they are more related to birds and dinosaurs than they are to any non-Avian reptile, but alligators aren't fluffy, and supposedly alligators are highly conservative genetically.

Alligators looked massively different over the years.

nearly all of those creatures are in ark - the game has gaping flaws but… well there you go.

Fuck off kid

Alligators are from an early branch of archosaurs known as pseudosuchians, the branch that contains Dinosaurs and Pterosaurs is a sister clade known as avemetatarsalia
crocodilians have scutes and osteoderms, which themselves are very different from the traditional reptile scales, which shows that archosaurs were getting fancy with integument really early on
on top of that, since all pterosaurs have feather-like pycno-fibres, and theropods and even some ornithopods we're sporting proto-feathers, and quills its likely that feather-like constructs are ancestral, likely for avemetatarsalia, and even possibly for archosaurs in general

Yes, I definitely understand this post completely and I agree

Just Google the nomenclature you fucking retard.
Its not that hard

listen, I wait for every once in a fucking blue moon for some random user to make a dinosaur vidya thread just so I can sperg out and make sure that every fucker in the thread that doesn't know what their talking about gets corrected
let me have my paleo-autism dammit

Whenever I see stuff like this I always wonder what kind of noise those arthropods would make. Like most insects make clicking noises with their legs and wings but something that big has to produce some breathing sound or squeal or "voice".

I don't know, but where do you reckon they got their water from? They buy it from the store or get it out the tap?

Have fun drinking lead and fluoride

Fuck no, it would be a sound of nightmares

Well, I'd imagine it'd sound like a much, much bigger version of the sound large tarantulas already make.
youtu.be/aNHK565cVe8?t=1m21s

why lead? what sort of shithole do you live?

This is why you don't live in a 3rd world country.

Isn't that just the noice its legs make? Obviously a bigger creature would make a deeper and louder noice which would be freaky enough.

As for the "breathing" sound, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be antediluvian infernal piping that would drive men insane.

Rightfully terrifying.
Having something larger than you are coming at you snapping pincers and making that sound.
Or a giant dragonfly or anything huge, flying and buzzing.
I imagine the prehistoric life to be worse sounding than looking.

Man, this makes me want to play spore. I wish it was good.
I already play Species from time to time but it isn't the same since I can't make my own critter. Cell and creature (murder only) stages was fun. Damn you Chris….

...

That's the point dumby

Have fun with your know teeth hick

Fuck, my spelling might be shit but at least I have teeth.

Can you play as a human?

It's an FPS, from the looks of it, and screenshots.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnivores_Ice_Age

Have you ever actually wondered why they stick feathers onto creatures we have assumed, via their BONES, to be reptillian?
Is it maybe because their presupposition is the asinine assumption that they mutated "evolved" into birds?

Nevermind me, though. You keep on believing whatever they tell you.
By the way, did you know the T-Rex mutated evolved into the chicken?

That's just the T-Rex. Don't even get started on the velociraptor…
By the way, did you know that we wuz ["probably"] Martians? Well, Martian microbes from a space rock. webm related

TL;DR I want to shoot and/or play as Jurassic Park, not feathered fruity dopey dinos. There's nothing "more realistic" or "more scientific" about feathered dinos since the subject is riddled with pseudo-science, heavy emphasis on "proteins" as if that in itself is the entire DNA strand. They tie tails to chickens to learn about dinosaurs. They keep redesigning dinos with more and more bird-like characteristics despite us already having the same skeletons we always did.
Point is: don't be some uppity Uni brat. Let us enjoy proper dino hunting.

Shooting giant gorillas is boring, though that massive crow would be amazing for a prehistoric hunting game set at night in the woods. Dinos are fun, though. It's like hunting dragons but not really.

Crocs have changed very little since the Triassic, they are basically living fossils. Pic related are phytosaurs, a more basal group of reptiles that just preceded the split between avemetatarsalia and pseudosuchians. Birds have changed massively and undergone rapid mutation since the huge dinosaur extinction event. It's retarded to that think that early dinosaurs had feathers when they split off from common crocodile like ancestors.

lol bruh

Why are there no prehistoric/neolithic horror games?

*paleo, meso or neolithic

[/aa])))

It's the flouride, brah. The man put it in there to fuck you up, brah.

This is what happens when you support a religious conservative point of view and don't shun christfags. This place is going to continue to get dumber and more anti intellectual.

Depends on the accuracy of the scale, the placement of the meat on the scale, the time from placement to the time to take measurement (half-life decay), air density, temperature, gravity microfluctuations, Higgs Field inconsistency layout in relation to time and probably some other factors I glossed over.

thats hyperbole to show the relationship between non-avian dinosaurs and modern birds
there are more basal branches within aves than galliformes, paleognaths in particular
I think you're forgetting a couple of important fossil finds in that too buddy, Yutyrannus, sinosauropteryx, and microraptor are a couple of good examples

sure? but that was after things like flight feathers and pygostyles had already evolved
did you even read what I said? even if you completely ignore the dinosaur side, pterosaurs were still ancestrally fluffed, and both were already well removed from any sort of ancestor that could be considered "crocodilian"
feathers could not have evolved twice, and comparing them with crocodile-like ancestors isn't appropriate since its clear that dinosaurs didn't have crocodilian scutes at any point, as well as the fact that the evolution of those scutes is a fitting parallel to the formation of protofeathers, since, as I said, both structures are very different from traditional reptile scales
hell, there are even some fringe-ideas that even crocodile line archosaurs were coated in some kind of protofeathers before adapting to their aquatic environment, I'm not sure I buy that, but it goes to show just how far this rabbit hole can potentially go

Originally the term 'reptile' was synonymous with amniotes with the exceptions of birds and mammals and included synapsids, diapsids, and anapsids. The defining characteristic were dry scaly skin and hard egg shells to survive on land away from water, unlike their amphibian ancestors.

...

Oh yeah, and heat decay rate, entropy, water evaporation of the meat, external humidity, internal humidity, Coriolis effect (would affect atomic changes of the meat), seasonal microshifts, background radiation saturation of the meat, other factors including nearby lamps, quantum changes just by observing the meat…

And probably still more factors I missed.

That's not even the worst of it. They did a special from monkeys to cavemen to the "modern man" with some scientist dude that drove a car back in time and was observing the prehistoric monkeys and getting his sandwiches pinched. He also spent some of his time up in a hot air balloon or climbing trees.

The CG was terrible by that point and they even reused footage from Walking with Beasts, so I think they included him to try and distract people.

well yes, but that goes to show just how antiquated the term is since it means you could somehow "grow out" of your ancestry, which is just silly

Are there any gaint spider fossils out there?

Holy mother of fuck, you're retarded. But you don't need to look in prehistory, anyway. Just scroll down to "The sound of little hooves at night"
thesmallermajority.com/2014/10/08/the-sound-of-little-hooves-in-the-night/

unfortunately no, there have been spider fossils found, but nothing really crazy, not even enough to beat the sizes of the largest species we have today
the closest you could probably get are the not-quite-arachnids like eurypterids, which did get fucking massive

well the answer to that is yes so there's egg on your face

DinoRex let you fight for the right to husband the amazons who ride dinosaurs. It's engrish as fuck so I'll translate.

There are jellyfish fossils

Most of these pre historic animals seem to be made up or just a aberrations that werent really a complete new especies

>tries to say pterosaur
Muh nigga

it hurts

Glad to see i'm not the only one.

...

...

Skin impressions and some key perfectly preserved fossils that showed feathers. Also there was a debate about whether they more resembled birds then reptiles even before those skin impressions showed up, the popular idea they're reptiles is thanks to entertainment media.

That's evolution user, generational mutations that lead to gradual shifts in a species over a fuck ass long time.

Arachnids and insects can not really exceed a certain body size because their metabolism wouldn't be powerful enough for it.

No hes right thats pretty retarded

Not in our current atmosphere at least.

the fossil that spider was based on turned out to be a sea scorpion now known as megarachne
and in comparison to some of the other sea scorpions around it was pretty small

There are games set in those time periods, but I get what you mean. You want something like Amnesia where you are defenseless and running away from these creatures. I wish there was a game like that, though, preferably without the linearity that Amnesia had.

That said, has there ever been a horror sandbox game?

it's because they stopped using practical effects. Walking with dinosaurs is still fantastic looking because it only uses CG for distant shots, everything else is up close and filmed in a real location. They worked their asses off on their passion project and it really shows. Same with walking with prehistoric beasts, though it looked slightly worse since modelling hair is really hard. Walking with monsters is 98 percent CG.

fuck, i'm going to go watch walking with dinosaurs again.

No. The horror would come from knowing that there is some thing out there in the middle of the night, watching you and your kin huddled around the fire, whittling your familial band down one by one over the course of the day. Starting with a young child, and slowly building up, mangling, mauling and brutally devouring your tribe until only you and a handful of survivors are left.

They aren't dinosaurs. If I recall correctly, they are some sort of synapsid from the Triassic.

Taxonomy at that point is entirely semantics you dribbling retard. It doesn't mean shit whether you consider dinos to be reptiles or their own distinct group. If you do want to regard dinos as non-reptiles then perhaps that should extend to all archosaurs since crocs and turtles are likely genetically closer to most dinosaurs than they are to lizards.
Is a crocodile a reptile?

A Devonian era game would be baller as fuck

Which prehistoric animals would be fun to domesticate and which ones would be fun to tame? I kinda want a vidya about raising prehistory animals.

Baluchitherium.

No nigger, we wuz dimetrodons n shiieeeit.

Or you could wash your fucking teeth.
There is a reason you retard as to why toothpaste reads "Do not swallow".
Or is taking a brush and running it across your fucking teeth a movement too complex for you?
Boy, if you want to go up hardcore and become a fucking rocket science you could up your game and even begin flossing or using mouthwash… but who has the brainpower to do that right?
Better just chug it all down like fucking retards as if it was soda.

You're talking to a burger, he'd rather mutilate his genitals than wipe them when taking a shower.
surprised they all still have intact fingers and fingernails, because it's a chore to cut your nails every week or so.

The fuck is wrong with fluoride other than "da gubmints is brainwashing us"?

Or you can do both and have a lowered risk of tooth decay. There is literally nothing wrong with Fluoride you retarded fuck.

...

Fluoride alone is a pretty toxic substance, and fluoride also makes teeth more resistance to acids and bacteria when it doesn't kill you. Since fluoride doesn't accumulate in your body and the maximum amount of fluoride allowed in tap water is around 1 ppm in all developed nations it's pretty much impossible for it to actually do anything harmful to your body. High enough concentrations of fluoride might hinder cognitive development on children though, but if you don't live in a shitty country where water plants do whatever the fuck they want I wouldn't worry about it.

I want feather niggers to kill themselves.

You are on the same level as creationists.

...

Except you haven't been proven right. Small amounts of fluoride aren't harmful and are actually helpful for tooth health.

Seems way too linear and is doomed to failure. I liked my idea better.

It still hurts.

is Holla Forums's concensus that alex jones is controlled opposition now?

All this shit is actually in Ark and nobody will believe you

But is it still unoptimized early access crafting survival tripe? Because if so they could have dancing hooker dinosaurs paying blackjack and I still wouldn't play it.

I haven't turned it on since May, news was that June they were putting out the optimization patch, but I haven't had issues with it graphically after turning off ambient occlusion and lowering shadows.

If crocodiles existed a million billion years ago in more or less the same form as they are now, doesn't that mean they won the game of evolution?

I know a faggot who not only bought it, he defends it. He also defends Nu Mans sky and The last of us is his favorite game of all time so I don't trust him.

No, because the only reason they still exist, is because we let them. If humanity decided to kill all crocodiles, all crocodiles would be dead. They are basically undomesticated pets we keep in the wild.

Couldn't you say that about literally every animal in the world?

Anything we try to kill intentionally never dies.

WE WUZ DINOSAURS N SHEEIT. WE RULED DA PLANET

...

Not only that, they grow stronger.

See superbugs and cockroaches.

Do you consider richard spencer to be anything but COINTELPRO poster boy too
>the conspirators do nothing that'd harm me, even let me run a shop with my (((supplements)))

It is. Small amounts of fluoride daily have PROVEN to help your teeth.

Try excusing circumcision next!

Why are there so many fucking retards recently? They seem to never actually read the posts and just spout out an incindiary reply after reading a single word or two.

You a creationist too?

I never made a claim in any of this fucking argument. I don't partake in it. I don't want to talk about this stupid fucking fluorine business on Holla Forums, holy shit.
Get your act together, fuck off, and talk vidya you faggots. All I did was claiming that crocodiles are shit, and now the thread derailed into Holla Forums vs /Idontgiveafuck/.
Take a deep breath, maybe open your window, drink a glass of water, of a cup of tea, or whatever nerve-calming beverage you have at hand, and think long and hard about what you are doing here. You are wasting your time probably arguing with someone willing to troll you. You are either falling for their cleverly cast bait, or you are freely throwing your pearls to the swines.

crocodilians used to be MUCH more varied
there were completely terrestrial, as well as completely aquatic species that rivaled even saltwater crocs in size, as well as behemoths that dwarfed any modern day crocodilian
crocodiles are successful yes, and they've been around for a while, but they don't dominate the landscape the way mammals or birds do, and to say that they haven't changed from then to now would be wrong, they just found a decent niche and a successful, and commonly used body-type, phytosaurs and even whales have produced their own versions before

No no, evolution just means the biology of a population gradually shifts to work better in a given environment.

If a population is adapted to environment A and then placed in environment B, the population will begin evolving to be more suited to environment B. If the same population after millions of years is placed back in environment A, it will begin evolving to be more suited to environment A again.

Crocodiles never really needed to evolve much because they were both already decently optimized for their environment and were never forced to function in an environment much different from their optimization.

This one isn't too fluffy

He clearly has feathers you stupid nigger. They couldn't have evolved feathers twice.

Wrong

no, thats correct, feathers are far too complex to have evolved again from the ground up, it would be impossible
though on that note is wrong since thyreophorans show no sign of plumage
its certainly not impossible, but the fossils found don't make it likely, ornithiscians were much more sparse when it comes to proto-feathers, most of the potentially fuzzed animals on that side of things lie closer to the ceratopsians and some of their close relatives

I was being ironic. Since you seemed to have suggested earlier that every dinosaur and even most of the earliest archosaurs must have had plumage.

not that I don't believe you, as you seem to know a lot more than I, but in what way are they too complex? Other complex organs have evolved separately like eyes and wings, why couldn't feathers?

I never said every, I said ancestrally, there a big difference here
what I was saying is that pterosaurian pycnofibers and dinosaurian protofeathers are homologous structures, which means that having non-feathered animals in between those two branches doesn't make a lot of sense phylogenetically, at least from point A to point B
very derived theropods like abelisaurs show signs of possibly being featherless, and even an advanced coelurosaur like Tyrannosaurus shows signs of having less feathers on its body than its very fluffy ancestors
but earlier less derived forms would still have to be ancestrally plumed in the first place
also I specifically said that I don't particularly buy into the idea of stem archosaurs being feathered, but there are arguments to be made for it, as weak as they are

he's wrong. lots of complex organs that perform the same function have evolved in different lineages independent of each other. that the eye is not clade-bound should be proof enough.

I'm glad you brought those up, yes eyes have evolved a couple of times, but every time they do they aren't the same, arthropods have compound eyes, cephalopods actually have very similar eyes to ours, but they actually work more like cameras or telescopes when focusing, moving the lens
and true flight wings have evolved 3 times in vertebrates, and each time the solution was solved in different ways
Pterosaurs stretched a membrane from their elongated pinkie finger to their bodies/legs, bats stretched membranes around all of their fingers, connecting them, but those are both fairly simple solutions to the problem
Theropods started out with barbs, then separated those barbs into a tufted hair-like structure, then grow the central barb out unifying those tufts together for support, then gave those smaller branches their own small branches letting them "zipper" together to form a solid object, these are adaptations on top of adaptation that happened because of specific mutations in specific environments, evolution doesn't repeat itself to a T that well, the numbers game involved with that are astronomical, it'd be like shuffling a deck of cards twice and getting the EXACT same combination of cards both times

Seeing as how no one has mentioned Ark, considering it features most of the creatures listed in this thread, would anyone be interested in playing on a 2x private server? Personally owned hardware so no begging for gibs, constant uptime except for when upgrading. Comes with 11 quality of life mods.

Only adults are allowed to use this imageboard.

yes, and each time they do they're structurally different

Or you can stop being a nigger and either give it a try or contribute to the discussion in the thread. I understand the game is shit when playing on an official server, but privates are a million times better.

...

I like the idea of all dinosaurs having feathers

Wrong

Ok.

...

Minimum 5x or bust

Kill yourself faggot

I'm sick of the fact they are depicted without humunguous dinosaur cock and balls.

Maybe you should kill yourself since you can't accept the truth.

...

...

That pic pisses me off

And you didn't attack him? Congrats on being part of the problem.

Mind you they probably think it's just a guy in a mascot costume being friendly.

Please kill yourself.

wew lad

That's the thing that pisses me off the most. That furfag thinks he's sly. The kids think they are hugging a cute costume but in reality it's some degenerate bringing his fetish to public involving other people in it.

Either the math teacher is a moron, or you're a moron who misinterpreted what they were doing.

Well there's the bit where it literally comes from nuclear waste…

Oh no! Not nuclear materials! Even though it's excessively easy to render those safe.

Fluoride might not have a conspiracy behind it, but you're still completely wrong about nuclear waste.

Chernobyl needs you

The fact that governments are forcing people to use fluoridated water, while using such a ridiculous excuse as "ITS 4 UR TEETH GOYIM" should ring alarm bells. I don't pretend to know anything about fluorine's effects on the body aside from bone demineralization and apatite fluoridation, but when the government does something for no apparent reason, then it's always either a scheme to increase taxes, manipulate money or subjugate the people.

There is only one isotope of fluorine you will ever see and it's stable. It's not as though they leave all the DU and shit in with the fluoride. They separate it.

You don't need vitrification to contain fluorine, and Chernobyl isn't uninhabitable due to fluorides.

In this case it's manipulate money; i.e. reducing health care costs through a harmless and relatively cheap method that serves to mildly improve the dental health of the citizenry. Sufficiently bad dental health can progress to nasty shit like heart problems or necrosis, so there's a rather good reason to put what's generally a good thing in a public resource.

Also a minor nitpick, it's a nuclide of fluorine, not an isotope.

Isotopes refer to the relationship between multiple variations, nuclides are the name of the object itself.

Oh come the fuck on. Tell me then, why does the government fund roads? Or public transport? Or water treatment facilities? Or construction of parks? The government can do good things, and often does. Take the tinfoil off my friend, you made such good points in your post save for this.

ur stupid
