It's mostly a generic third person shooter. the only thing it has to show for itself is a painfully forced story about a man who denies taking emotional accountability for the atrocities he is forced to do by the game.

literally everything in this horseshit game was ripped off of something else in its timeframe and if it has had any influence, it was because it was a frankenstein amalgamation of other peoples' ideas that ionstorm didnt actually think up of. it's the thomas eddison of video games and is undeserving of any praise.

The shortcoming are immense. The only reason to enjoy the game is for the /x/ factor but its really baby's first conspiracy theory the game and promotes misinformation and left wing propaganda. Plus I don't really get off on the narrative in video games. If the mechanics are shit then the game is shit. If the mechanics where good then the shitty plot would be forgivable. This thing has neither.

How is it even possible to miss the point of the title this hard? It doesn't mean "without god", there's even a character in game who talks about god in the context of their world, and people will worship things they find worthy of being worshiped, and technology was filling the role that used to be filled by god (being watched, judged by something greater so they can better assimilate into a larger group, these are a machinistic way of looking at god in a purely utilitarian light), so people had faith in their technology, or at least treated it as having as much worth as god to watch over them and perform the utilitarian functions of god since they weren't in open revolt about it. And it certainly wasn't a glorification of the killing of god like you seem to imply, it's merely stated that man will worship the things he creates, which you can actually see happening now with the evangelisation of science as being a greater thing to worship than god, or at least as equal to it. It's not even an especially deep statement but it either went over your head or you're pretending it did to add absurdity to your post. It means exactly what it traditionally means just in a different context, "god" from the machine.

Running and gunning is more fun, faster, and if you speccd appropriately, safer since you have a chance of fighting your way out of a bad situation rather than just save scumming or gaming AI.

The gameplay is definitely nothing revolutionary, which is, of course, not a good selling point for the game – but it's reasonable enough that it's not a huge deterrent for most people.
When you play the game it's slightly different to simply watching it online, since you've been in control for the majority of the game, the story places the blame upon you directly, by proxy of the character you play; Walker. If you can't get into immersing yourself in a story in fiction though, then no, I guess it wouldn't work.

So.. MJ12? Exploding Cyborgs? Exploring the Paris catacombs? Actually fucking GOING to area 51 instead of just visiting it? The dragon sword was obviously inspired by a light saber, but for the rest you've still got some explaining to do..
