Hey guys, if I'm making a game but feel apprehensive about showcasing it in agdg threads or this site in general out of fear of diminishing my reach from spiteful gaming websites, am I a savvy marketeer or a treacherous rat?
I guess the deeper question is whether it's wrong as a dev to remain neutral for marketing reasons despite having a gamergate heart or not.

I mean keep in mind that like RawFuryGames that your publisher may throw you under a bus. If you have no publisher then I'd recommend doing it as the SJWs will promote your game by shitting on it. See Hatred and GTA as examples.

Companies exist to make a profit, ideally they'd only provide greatest/cheapest products without anything else, however I will find an alternative product when let's say beer X speaks out in support of open borders for illegals, while beer Y, more expensive but same quality overall doesn't play politics and brews product to sell.
You will want to show at least a small teaser at some point so you have some presence so people don't just call you a shill.
Additionally, Reddit, Tumblr, and even Imgur can help you a build a following while you develop; you don't want to just release with no fanbase, otherwise it will fall flat and people will never buy it.
Finally, avoid Chucklefish and Blackshell Media as publishers. I have not heard good things about them.

If they do start writing articles, no one will care enough to read them and so you will be dropped like an unwanted bastard. If the sjws do show interest in your game, they won't buy it because they don't play videogames. You aren't guaranteed a positioned in the AAA studios, and you will be forgotten in less than a year.
Make a good game first and foremost. If the product is of high enough quality, there are countless youtubers and bloggers you will gladly review your game, give you free publicity and provide you with actual customers. Don't force any gg or antigg shit in your game, for your sake. Any secrets like that that you bury under walls of code will be dug up by dataminers before you can even say "SURPRISE!".

I have to be honest: the only reason I would ever want to hide any potentially "wrongthink" ties of my own is because I believe that a good indie crossover game can still be made. Like a decent fighting game that can feature the likes of Hotline Miami and Super Meat Boy and Nuclear Throne.
