You think there would be demand for a FOSS Sims clone? Would you play it? What features would you want in it if so?

You think there would be demand for a FOSS Sims clone? Would you play it? What features would you want in it if so?
And how long would it take for EA to shut it down and execute everyone involved with it?

Also maybe Sims thread I guess

Are you making one? Well first and foremost make it anonymously and don't draw too much attention before release. And try to seperate yourself from sims style as far as possible.

Style as in like artstyle alone, or something more?
I've thought about it but right now it's definitely not a possibility.

fairy sims

If it improves the performance. More that that, I'd like to see a real Sims competitor; like what Cities Skylines was for Sim City.

They already have fairies nig though they are basically just humans with glowy wings

I'd say some Rune Factory or harvest moon game would be more fitting for that.
I want that now.

No mods or else…

Make it go faster than normal Sims in terms of gameplay progression. Sims tends to slog when climbing up the career ladder, and most of the time I just want to build up the family tree with dozens of concubines.

clearly we need childlike fairies that can do adult things, like going to work. they could also have animu faces so they look different from human sims

RF4's Amber is close enough, and you can recruit fairy monsters in that game

I'm very fond of all the supernatural sims myself, at least in theory. Fairies are great, but they kind of feel more like generic magic sims than real fairies the way they play. I think it would be interested if they were actually limited by size somehow instead of just being big most of the time.

Also S3 werewolves are butt ugly. Incredibly useful, but damn.

me too, fairies are the most important ones for me though.
Should've looked more like the wolf man, to be honest.

Y'know that was one of the things that disappointed me most with the supernatural Sims: the fact that they're really not that different. I mean somethings like plant sims had slightly different needs, but a demi-human Sim should've been considerably different. Like vampires should've had a much harder time in the sun (it's too hard for Sims to die anyway), and should've been shunned if word got out of their vampirism. A possible solution to no longer being shunned, besides moving, could be heavy plastic surgery, a name change and moving lots (or the rest of the household could just support them or decide to kick the vampire out to not have to deal with the bad PR). Yeah that's kind of drastic but it'd make it interesting to have a vampire sim, rather than just a pale (really pretty though) sim who drinks plasma foods and lives for far to long. And I agree with you about fairy Sims. They should've been small and cutsy and had a lot of restrictions but also a lot of cool exclusive things they could do. I mean they'd still be adults, but a lot of their social interactions should've been different, like normal sims possibly bullying them or other sims treating them like a kid or something. Or perhaps the rare sim who just appreciates them for being who they are as a person.

I just feel like the Sims has a lot of potential but EA and Maxis suck major donkey balls. Someone else should make a Sims-esque game…

full version

what? could you maybe fill me in on what that means?
the option to live in other sim's houses, couch surfing, even, and.. actually a lot of stuff i'd like could you gimme a day or two so i can come up with a list of ideas? i'm a huge sims nerd
height changer so i can make a manlet, maybe?

The Singles was the closest thing to a Sims-esque game, but it only had a fraction of the features the Sims games did.

Freedom of Software… something?
It's a linux meme that basically means as-is, free to use, modify, truly open rights

oh! oh! oh okay

Free and Open Source Software. It's a terrible acronym, just say open source or something. But yeah, when a program and its source code is under extremely liberal licensing terms. There's two main variants:
- Permissive: Pretty much do anything you want, except for usually requiring attribution and disclaiming any warranty. Most well-known example is the BSD license.
- Copyleft: Same as above, but any modified versions, or even other programs using code from it must be under the same licensing terms. The GNU GPL is by far the best known example.

Definitely the family tree. I want a Sims where playing for generations makes actually sense.

maybe make jobs more in-depth and entertaining then just "Send Name off to work!"
i don't mean a whole thing, maybe we can at least see their job, like them sitting at a desk and junk like that?

The Sims is an aimless dollhouse game without any challenge, I don't entirely get the appeal unless you're a child. Granted, I can see how it's enjoyable with the use of porn mods, but the ones I've seen for TS3 look shockingly ugly.
I have fapped to The Sims 2 lesbians kissing and grabbing each other because they look good and sound hot. I'd much rather fap to that than the ugly sims and the porn mod from TS3.

As long there's mod support I'm sure it'd be popular.

The Sims can be fun if you raise lots of children. It turns into chao garden lite.

A lot of people use it more for the architecture aspect. Building houses instead of focusing on the actual sims themselves. Thats what I do, anyway.

I like playing families too. Generations was a good expansion. Sims 4 Parenthood is also neat.

I'm actually really surprised that there hasn't been a proper Sims clone yet. Also dubs?

Implement the same easy custom ability, body types, textures and facial features in vein of the like of TK17 and TS2, and also include both 32 and 64 bit versions of the game capable of using the maximum ammount of hardware available, with the addition of Terrain generation, creation, and placement of cities and the people in it.

And you've got yourself the best game ever.

Then, to actually make some fucking money- Get the furfaggots involved as to finally kill off Second Life and unleash the yiffening once and for all in their omni Meesh Jay Naylor Adam Wan inspired super degenerate bi-sodomite San francisco paradise of limitless pozloads and proceed to make a website to host all the modding, forum discussion, FAQ, help, patches and ETC which will also make you rich from Ad revenue alone, and set up multiple kickstarters and patereons to fund community made updates for such a degree of concentrated autism it hits the news and becomes scientifically proven to be poisonous.

The man who makes super duper Zelda Nintendo sorrority house with the Link Bachelor house and Ganondorf landlords adventures on Holla Forums will ahchieve his right to the reposted screencaps of the decade.

gee iunno

On that note, I would love to see someone play the Sims with the right mods as an user out to implement National Socialism in his community, full of various stereotypes and degeneracy afoot. It'd be a super duper /po/ adventure.

Porn game features.

Why would there be any legal issues? As long as you avoid the clearly trademarked stuff like the currency, icon and language you can do literally anything without EA being able to sue.
You can't copyright a genre.

As for what I want, defiantly more supernatural and sci-fi stuff. Being able to live on different planets and shit could be cool, either earth like environments or like big glass spheres protecting towns on the surface of more hostile planets.
Create your own style from 2 was cool.
Make interaction with other characters/npc/sims more interesting? Wouldn't know how though but it's sort of a weak point. No I don't want to go to the fucking bar with you, stop calling cunt.

The problem with having extreme dangers like the sun is the AI. I've read about people having sims from not currently played households an hero in the sun with the already lenient sun system in place.

I thought that was already implied. What sort of madman would make a sims style game and not having that be a core aspect?

People have done dumber things in the past.

Ever heard of FreeSO?
It's seems to be using Sims Online assets (and yes, it is multiplayer). Devs also have github.
I haven't played it because >online.

OP, maybe make a thread in /agdg/?

i like FreeSO, cammed for lots of people there

It's true that the Vampire Sim AI is fucking retarded. I had a Sim go to college and one of her roommates was a vampiress. The vampiress died of starvation three days in.

Just make sims 1, it's the only good one.
Wait, what happened to the post form?

We forced user now

Oh, right, danks.

Yes, of course. If you make a game and open it up completely you can have modders who actually will give a fuck and might expand upon your game. If you make it foss, you'll get every sims fan imaginable, considering they've been willing to leave the EA series since Sims 4 came out. What you should do is see if you can get some agreement with the SimCity foss clones and see if they'd be willing to add support to import cities.

lol y

Mark, in his infinite wisdom, said that because particular tripfags and namefags were shitting up the 4 am threads, he's removing names and trips for a week trial to see how it turns out.

There's no point in a name field anyway, it just makes namefags think they're welcome.

Basically, take the open world from the sims 3 but allow it to be filled with a shitload of sims. Take objects off the grid, and make them radius based. The building system should be something similar to an extremely simplified version of Revit.

If you are planning on making this, try for sims 1 levels of simulation and optimize the fuck out of it.

Its somewhat useful in recurring threads, particularly agdg sometimes

why not include some fantasy races and some /x/-tier stuff like summoning certain demons to help your sim at a cost IE summon a succubus, she'll raise your mood when interacting with her, but your hunger goes down harsher
maybe even having it so the closer you get to the demon, the better your relationship is, IE less hunger going down with interactions?
my mind's going everywhere

this user said open-world
paranormal creatures spawning at certain times in that world, like big foot or ayy lmaos? skin-walkers
why not have an alien mechanic similar to The Sims 4? you could make aliens/martians and they even were able to have a human form which i thought was fucking fun

Honestly that was one of the few good things added in Sims 4 were the Dark appearance or whatever the fuck it was for Vampires and the human disguise. Added a "who among us" type of feel when interacting with sims.

Holy shit I butchered the sentence. RIP the English language.
*Sims 4. The Dark*

while there's a lot of things i dislike about the sims 4 i will openly admit they got life states where keeping your form a secret right, and fun

I'm downloading sims 2 complete edition that I got for free back in 14, any good mods to recommend.

There's a guy working on an offline sandbox mode, but he hasn't posted an update to his mod in a month.

I remember fapping to a glitch that made my kid characters naked while dressing them.
Even though they had barbie doll anatomy, the butts were cute enough.
I have no idea if that glitch is still present

You don't even need a glitch to do that, there are plenty of mods to get rid of the mosaic.

just add basically the darkest areas of lovers-lab and it will be awesome.

There's a couple of ones behind paysites, but i do remember clearly one that got leaked, it was a sex mod, pulled out plenty of animations and a red light district
I may remember it later, there's also mod the sims and some brave soldier who pulled most of the paysite's content, somehow without being taken out
svs.paysites.mustbedestroyed.org:8080/booty/

First and foremost would have to be performance. Secondly, the merging of multiple simulations to achieve the sims-type game.
You figure the sims have a simple architecture sim merged with a people sim, with furnishing and landscaping tacked on.
Modding is an after-thought, since the developer just needs to make some functions to plug in assets/animations/objects/etc.

Basically AAA graphics and porn mod support. It's gonna sell itself.
Sims itself on the other hand is fucking boring so I guess it would be better as Illusion game or something. Afaik there is plenty of sims porn mods but it's engine is pretty shitty, for example all people got same body etc.

I have better idea! Pretend Holla Forums doesn't exist and just post shit on your own site, shill on.Holla Forums of course but don't be a Holla Forums-guy.
Otherwise v-tards will think you owe them something and actively going to look for some reason to get offended and triggered. Because you pander to them not hard enough and don't suck their dicks. After that they will shit and spam all threads about it or any thread where someone mentions the project.

So this is the link where the mods that some brave soldier stored? Would the one you're trying to remember be there?

svs.paysites.mustbedestroyed.org:8080/booty/ts2/

Now ya dun it, at least the thread will die in a week
I don't think it's there, it was pretty big
And it seems it's probably the same one as mentioned, at least one of them, the T&A expansion

lewd

I thought you were never gonna return to this site you shitty Yandev.

Holla Forums doesn't think any dev owes them anything, and of course they will shitpost anything you make. What kind of sensitive dev are you thinking that you will be able to please everyone's taste?
Go back to reddit yandev.

Only him can throw such high quality salted peanuts post
Face it you homo, backing out from decisions and pretending you never said them is a death sentence in any place with no rules on speech
Plus going to reddit to backtalk is also silly, no matter the context

if you can't take the bantz stay out of the board

Unless that developer was receiving legitimate criticism and advice on how to handle their game and the perception that no real work was getting done, and the developer either refused to believe they were doing anything wrong or ignored the suggestions entirely, in which case Holla Forums had every right to call that dev out on their ineptitude.

Yea I'm sure people will love a Sims clone that runs like shit, can only be installed and updated via console commands and only gets updated when some fat neckbeard feels like it.

People here love Minetest even though it's shittier than Minecraft which in turn the same people hate.

Doesn't sims run like shit anyway?

How the hell do I put a minecart on this track I made?

The minecarts aren't a track, but rather a series of connected mini coasters to each other. You use those tracks for connecting one mini coaster to the other and leaving the entrance to the first coaster and the entrance to the last coaster open so people can ride them.

Meant exit of the last coaster open.
On the mini coasters themselves there's a set of arrows on the floor, that's where you would get on and off the ride. Using those tracks on those arrows or placing another coaster's entry there, you can chain together the coasters together into a larger coaster.

hmmm. But the description on the track said it could be used idependently from the other minecart objects.

You don't really need to since those games are open source so the file formats are open.
