there is no difference

One was promoted by Bill Clinton staffers, one was promoted by Lenin

Communalism (Murray Bookchin) is anti-state. Communism (Marx) is pro-state.

Communalism came out of the anarcho-communist tradition, though. Here is a good intro pamphlet to Communalism:

hmm

this basically

Dude just critiqued capitalism fam.

I've always been interested in communalism, as my vague impression of it was "a more anarchist take on Marxism". Got a reading list/suggested books for Bookchin/any other communalist writers?

n-no

Marx pays talks the talk on anarchy, but his body tells a different story in the bedroom

...

The pamphlet I linked to is a really good starting point. After that, "The Next Revolution" is a really good collection of Bookchin's essays related to his more mature ideas. Here is a download for it:

Im almost 100% certain marx saw the abolition of the state as a historical neccessity for communism

Communization is superior.

wtf is this true?

Absolutely. He actually defends "despotic acts" in the communist manifesto.

Where can I read about this? What pages?

It views control of the state as a means to the end of implementing communism.

It's not very long. Iirc he defends revolutionary violence and a proletarian dictatorship (which had different connotations than the modern conception of "dictatorship") to guard against counter-revolutionary acts by deposed bourgeois and so forth.

switching one state for another, now that's revolution

Aaaaay lmao

Now you see the truth behind the state 'socialists'. Embrace bookchin and kropotkin.

Thanks mate!

True, and you can see a lot of that anti-state thinking in Lenin's State and Revolution (in particular that quote; "When there is state there can be no freedom, but when there is freedom there will be no state") but the anarchist criticism of Marx's view on the state (as I understand it) is that he basically was hoping the dictatorship of the proletariat would at some point reflect upon itself, realize it completed its purpose, and then voluntarily dissolve itself, as opposed to finding ways to maintain/justify its existence for the benefit of the members of the government. I'd say it's less fair to say "Marx was pro-state" so much as "Marx did not believe we should immediately dissolve the state, and believed a state/state-like entity had a role to play in establishing communism".

what with all the suden intress with communalism and Murray Bookchin?

Partly Rojava and partly people googling murray bookchin

yea, but i had heard of him before. moslty due to rojava. but since a bit before christmas i have seen very much posting about this, not only on Holla Forums
