Krosmaster Quest is definitely meant to be an offline MMO and it solves some of the problems of balancing a 4-way match.

Regular Krosmaster is more like a collectible card game, except all the random chance and fuckery are built into the board and the dice, and not in your team composition. It's the overall klunkiness of the set up that holds it back from being something that you sit down and play a couple rounds with between friends.
