It's going to be their attempt at making a "Nintendo Switch" like system considering everyone talks about how great it is and how it's selling so well. Seriously, I've seen that system for more often played in public than I ever have with the 3DS, or even the original NDS. But, of course, they're going to miss the entire point like they did with the Kinect and the Move (The only reason why the Wii was such a hit is because of the way Nintendo appealed to the casual market. The system was actually marketed as "Hey, there's a game for everyone on this thing." instead of the usual "Here are your table scraps, you filthy casuals.").

How does that prove anything about VR not being the overpriced fad it obviously is ?

VR was invested in when the Oculus kickstarer exceeded its goal and kike kikerburg bought it out. This is the development stage, where tons of money is dumped into a subpar product so that the subpar product becomes slightly less subpar over time. Those VR """add-ons""" are incredibly easy to make.
They produce a normal segment of the game, in the same engine, slap the VR viewpoint on the player character's head and add some basic head movement systems, while keeping the same controller layout.

Nothing amazingly fancy, but it sells well enough to good goys who bought a VR headset despite no gaems.

I think it could be good but it needs games.
But (((game companies))) won't invest in games for VR until it becomes a sizeable market. But people won't buy VR sets until there are good games.
We'll need someone to break the status quo and the "independent" scene might do it, however one game won't cut it, there may be 4 good VR games currently, there'd need to be at least a dozen (that aren't 1 hour long aswell.).
