The Ansem report which mentions Mickey talking to its writer was. In KH2 that part is in a flashback, where Mickey was shown speaking about it to the real Ansem, not Xehanort. Also, arguably the reports not being written by Ansem could be considered a retcon; but the sudden change in tone and personality between the first report and all the later ones implies that something like that was planned all along.

At this point the only thing concrete is that Xehanort is bad along with his counterparts because they do bad shit to people and entire worlds for their goals. The purpose of light and darkness in the series, especially with Eraqus trying to do something awful even under the former's influence, now seems so vague and unlike the first game where "light (positivity?) is good and saves people with its power VS darkness (negativity?) is bad and consumes everything with its power" things now seem to have some kind of obscure theme where it can't decide whether darkness is good or absolutely bad or if even light is all good.

It's nice to see stuff like Riku giving them balance and symbolically strengthening himself as a fighter, a hero and a person with both, but if anything, the honest most confusing thing about Kingdom Hearts of all is what the fuck purpose yin and yang is even supposed to serve now.
