With e-sports communties it feels like they were created more out of passion for the game and a desire to see how good they are at it. What's wrong about my math? The game runs at 60FPS, and it had a tickrate of 20 at launch. The visuals update 60 times per second and the game state updates 20 times per second, which is once every three frames.

I play it a lot because I need something to fill the void after playing TF2 for 2k+ hours before seeing its slow and painful death. Overwatch is a pretty shit game for a lot of reasons, balance comes mainly from putting timers on secondaries and supers, the cast of characters feel very contrived (compared to the absolute care and attention Valve gave to the TF2 classes anyhow but maybe that wouldn't be a fair comparison) and the class mechanics themselves don't feel very distinct save for like 3 classes (Torb, Sym, and Junkrat). The chat filters and the tryhard userbase also actually ruin the fucking community, nobody says anything, there's no fun in the chat unless you find a custom match. Also the game is ONLINE ONLY, without even LAN support and there will likely never be custom maps made for it.

In conclusion, I think its a very shit replacement for TF2, but its the only one we got so I guess I'll keep playing it regardless trying to get some fun out of it.

Here's a thought, if a game can't be objectively good, perhaps it can't be objectively bad either? Objectively inferior to another game in the genre, sure, but to say absolutely NO ONE can derive satisfaction from it is entirely incorrect. The game is not as good as early TF2, but I'd argue it's on about the same level as modern, abandoned and broken TF2, in that the game is fine to jump on and grind out a decent round or two, but isn't something you'll want to spend thousands of hours on. The classes are not as good as the nine in TF2, I'll fully admit that, the sheer amount of heroes bogs it down, as well as the outlandish and unrecognizable silhouettes the characters and their alternate skins make. TF2's hats do this, but to a much less severe level. That aside it's pretty much a streamlined TF2 with more classes than it needs, whether or not you find that a good or a bad thing is up to you, I'm not here to mount the impossible task of proving a game "objectively amazing" or "objectively shit", personally there's aspects of both that I really like, and aspects I really hate, like for example the community in TF2 is bad (used to be amazing) but the community in OW is nonexistant, literally no one talks outside of competitive autists.

Comparisons are helpful to illustrate what mechanics look like when done well and to provide perspective, but they are far from necessary.

The maps are fairly boring or poorly designed for one side. I havemt played the newest trash maps, but the original lineup amd ecem eichen were either dreadfully boring to play, or were a 'get pounded or do the pounding' thanks to the map design. The asymmetrical maps were overtime hell, and most of the payload maps were pubrolls if your team wasnt retarded on defense. Egypt is garbage, worst cp map that is also a discount dust. The most original character design in overmeme is the fucking onion plush dolls tbh
