Ie: it's the meat and potatoes of things, there are other additional specialized techniques of which you already know and used effectively, but the ones outlined in that basic design notes chapter will never go out of style.

There's also the book cover exercise in the end of that pdf, but really all that is, is design a book cover. Once you can break down something into it's basic design recipe, anything and everything you see can potentially be turned into a design exercise.

The breakdown is avconv, "i" for input, the file you're converting, the resolution you want the finished webm to be, and then the filename again with the .webm extension. The program does the rest.
