As far as I'm aware it was standard practice until relatively recently to destroy the source code for games in the japanese industry to prevent theft of trade secrets. Not that aren't usually backups in some shape or form, but usually if game doesn't get an HD remaster despite being a top seller, it's usually because of that.

Yes, depends on how much you want to rely on headshots for fast kill. That said having the ability to reaquire targets quickly during or after boosting by flicking the mouse would probably be pretty nice.
