Is Breath of the Wild any good? From what I've seen, switching weapons all the time seems to be more tedious than anything and the gameplay doesn't look particularly enthralling outside of setting fire to the grass and using the updraft to glide. It looks like a kneecapped sandbox game, or where you have the ability to interact with the environment, but cannot manipulate it.

might be the most grossly overrated game i've ever played, it functions fine, its not inherently bad, but the over-world is huge and barren, you'll spend a majority of your time in game just walking and climbing. exploring is painfully unrewarding, you'll break 3 weapons going into an enemy outpost or something similar you find, only for the treasure chest at the end have a weapon worse than the ones you lost on the way in.

any time you find something good you just hoard it because theres no in-game way of seeing how long it will last, just swing away until its almost broken, only then will it tell you its at risk of breaking.

the land is scattered with these mircro puzzle dungeons that are kind of fun sometimes but are mostly just variations of putting a ball in a cup. but the rewards for doing those are items that can increase your hearts/stamina

the cooking gimmick is fun for about 30 seconds, then its just tedious even if you skip the animation because there's a needless amount of steps needed to just throw some apples in a pot

mainline dungeons are snoresville and the bosses in them are all the same shit. i will admit i didn't end up beating the game though, i was borrowing it from a friend and i was just before the final boss and i went to play something else and never got the urge to finish it and gave it back to my friend

Not even slightly. Wii U was a roughly Radeon HD 4000-series GPU bolted onto a custom triple core version of the GameCube's late 90s/early 2000s PowerPC CPU. The Switch is (as far as we know) an off-the-shelf NVIDIA Tegra X1 ARM system on a chip.

The fact that it's based on commodity hardware will help emulator development, but don't expect a usable one on anywhere near a Dolphin Wii or CEMU timeframe.

Personally I don't regret having picked one up but I do regret having bought it when I did, I only did so because I wanted to sit on it to have it ready to go for CFW and because I'd heard about all the friggin' scarcity problems. Main timesinks for it have so far been Mario Kart, Blaster Master and BOTW, along with Snipperclips. The controllers/joycon/whatever they're called work nicely and are comfortable to hold, the system itself is powerful enough that things run at a rock-steady and smooth framerate even when portable (though I'm not sure anything so far's actually taken advantage of the extra power afforded by the dock's overclocking), battery life is decent enough considering what it is.

Look user, I'm invested in liking The Elder Scrolls VI: Hyrule. I've put money into the assumption that I would like that game… Going to a con in a week and a half and my costume is from it. The game is average at best.

There are things the game does well, and it does them really well. The world is massive and beautiful. It doesn't hold your hands and is legitimately difficult in places. The fact that you can randomly stumble across mini-boss tier monsters out of nowhere is a wonderful touch. Though simplistic, the stealth mechanics are a welcome addition to the series and reward you for approaching a situation carefully and choosing the best way to engage enemies.

But then there's the bad. While beautiful, the world is fucking empty. The difficulty scaling is based entirely on how good a weapon you are currently holding. The intro segment before you get the glider is goddamn boring. Unlike pretty every game in the series after the NES era, you can't replenish your supplies unless you buy them in a store leading to some sections being more difficult than they should be and others being damn near impossible. There is an extreme lack of enemy diversity with every non-miniboss/boss enemy I've encountered up to this point being some variant of guardian, bokoblin, moblin, lizalfos or keese. Shrines are unsatisfying and usually consist of a single room puzzle. The closes things to ACTUAL dungeons, the inside of the divine beasts, aren't much better (granted I've only done the elephant), with minimal enemies and a number of fairly simple puzzles. Worst of all, it just doesn't feel like a Zelda game.

I want to like it. And there are parts of it that I really do like. But for every good thing the game does right, there's two bad things overshadowing it. My biggest solace at this point is the love normalfag girls have for the series.
