A dozen games about spehss mehreens

IG would print money. A gritty, terrible, religious version of COD would get anyone on board.

Get transported on an imperial navy frigate. Spend 2 years traveling through the warp, starving and going insane on a ship larger than Manhattan. Repair your gun with prayer and incense. Drive a glorified tractor used on some irrelevant space colony 30000 years ago with effectively a 18th century cannon mounted on it for attack.

Not sure how well dying simulator would sell but then again finding a billion ways to die horribly could be excellent youtube bait.

Imagine Dead Space but in WH40k universe and with imperial guard protagonist.

What do you think about a game where you play as an adeptus mechanicus in a mision to explore the old ruins of mars lost during the Age of Strife? it would play like a classic dungeon crawler rogue-like but whit tech oriented stats, like hacking and cyber defense (you can get viruses when downloading ancient data)

The opportunities for warhammer stuff are infinite. Instead we get o play as space marines or inquisitors for the umpteenth time.

Campaign you play as Ollanius Pius, thus explaining your reviving. You're just another cog in the gear.
Hints at your sainthood abound.

Could start them off against something they can actually beat easily, such as rebels or chaos cultists that haven't managed to summon a demon yet. The player would learn the ropes and, most importantly, try to get his hands on better gear, be it through scavenging the battlefield for equipment or looting for profit, all the while managing the risk of geting caught by a comissar, which would mean immediate punishement (not enough for a bullet to the head, but harsh penalties that'd hinder the player in future missions). Then using the money he made to get new gear (masked so as to seem to be regular issue at first glance) that'd help him stay alive. Missions would get tougher and tougher as the player faces new enemies, and his performance in previous missions would thus be crucial for the later stages. The goal of the game would be to stay alive long enough to see retirement on some planet his regiment captures, with different endings depending on how much money he managed to pilfer for his retirement fund and with just how many chaos shit he came into contact during the game.

It could totally be done too, and I know just how someone could do it.
Battlfield 2's console port had it's own singleplayer with a very bizarre but cool mechanic, you didn't play as any major characters, you were instead generic soldiers. Everytime you died, you would switch into the perspective of another soldier on the field, you could also switch manually to find a class you need, you get a game over when all of your men are dead.
Too bad i'm only a idea guy though and I can't make fucking VIDEO GAMES.

FUCK YEAH STARSHIP TROOPERS!

This scene is one reskin away from being an IG game.

lol what a shitfest those wars were.

So, playing as a Savlar Chem Dog, Rogue Trader or Lost and Damned?

Touching equipment you have not been granted by your superiors is reason enough to BLAM you.

...

why do they use flashlights and not bullets?

can some warhamer fag explain?

warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Lasgun

Logistics mainly and fact that the Lasgun is far more powerful than a Stubber plus can recharge ammo just by being out in the sun. Autoguns are sometimes issued but require ammo which isn't good in longterm campaigns and iirc cost more and aren't any better than a Lasgun.

why they use shit lasguns versus tyranids, by example?

Lasgun's are practically ammoless and their batteries can be recharged by simply tossing them into a campfire.

Drastically reduces their lifespan, though

Is there any Imperial guard blessed with hero plot armor in the codex?

Always have the player just happening to be on the wave that wins the battle. Then eventually promote the player to Commissar and have them execute other Guardsmen who point out these coincidences for questioning the player's loyalty to the Emperor.

Always a few of those. Yarrick, that one guy who always bumbles through even chaos invasions (sexy Monty Python in space - forgot his name).

Ciaphas Cain

That's the one.

Lasgun actually isn't that shit against most nids funny enough. And while one Lasgun does diddly say against a Khornate Berzerker, remember you're fielding around 100 of them to one Berzerker, that's an awful lot of diddly.

I still want a Ciaphas Cain game where you play as Jurgen and have to help keep Cain alive, come up with excuses as to why Comissar is not currently available, and to offer him some sort of tea at appropriate times.

Winter Assault's Order campaign was mostly Imperial Guard. Final Liberation has a lot of guard commanding and a guard focus in the cutscenes.

Space Marines sell the most models and as such are GW's golden children and will always get the most attention
Just pray that they don't decide to transform the Guard into not-Space Marines like they did to fantasy

I would say Blackadder instead of Monty Python.
Hell, there is even a Baldrick.

Lasguns being the worst weapon in the universe is a meme.

Are you forgetting that Warhammer 40k: Armageddon exists or you want strictly shooters?

The starship troopers game exists, it's fun too.

But IG only exist as cannon fodder. A typical engagement between IG and anybody necessarily involves hundreds of millions of IG dying in a massive meat grinder as a method to their victory.
There are no IG heroes. There is only more meat for the grinder. Who the fuck wants to play that?

I suppose you could make a clicker game where you click the handle to turn the grinder while the IG run into it, but I don't think smartphone people would be interested in 40k.

A tactical game where you control a small number of IG troops besting superior (in quantity or quality) opponent via tactics and just-as-planned while managing inevitable losses would kick ass. It doesn't have to be fuckhuge horde of nids or whole chapter of spess mahreens to fit in WH40k. X-COM early game is very IG-like where you send tons of rookies with shitty ballistic weapons and no armor hoping that at least few of them will hit the enemy Well, at least that's how I played X-COM…

The joke is that lasguns are not very powerful compared to the horrors of the galaxy. The weapon starts having results when you have 10 of them all being shot two to three times at something.

In the table top the guardsmen models have a shooting skill of 3, meaning their attack hits on a 6, 5, 4 on a D6. The weapon has the same strength if I recall correctly and against a target with a toughness of 3, it kills the target on 6, 5, 4. However, space marines, and other horrors tend to have higher toughness and powerful armor. In some cases, you need to get a guardsmen to roll a two sixes in a roll, then have the opponent fail his armor save by rolling a 1.

...

Losing the Empire models is just the most depressing thing.

Lasguns are fucking great in Only War.

Because if they don't include Slaanesh-aligned enemies we'll rightfully complain about it until their ears bleed, and if they do normalfags will get the game, the devs and anyone who've played it burned alive.

#NotAllMarines

Sounds a bit like am ARMA campaign.

Playing as the regiment instead of a single character would be cool, though I don't know how it would work from a storytelling standpoint.

The worst part is that WH40k games overall are suffering from a decline in quality because GW just hands out the rights to any retarded no-name indie studio who asks

Game "We don't do market research lol" Workshop are bleeding money out the ass because their retarded behavior killed what was virtually a money printing monopoly they had going.

while IG is great I'd much rather see a really fucking Orky game

Lasguns are as powerful as a High Powered Semi-Auto with the most powerful weapon they can mass produce with ease being the bolter but they need to modify that weapon if someone weaker than a Space Marine were to use it so among non spec marns you only see it some searges and on space nuns
The Lasgun has the advantage over an Autogun in that it uses a rechargable battery for projectives which means ammo is cheap and is hard for it to run out

To be fair they're claiming they've done tonnes of playtesting and market reaserch into the next edition of Warhammer 40k to stop the shit meta of 7th while also avoiding a complete sigmar
Let's see if they're claims are backed up
That said they're habit to hand out licencecs like candy would be a good thing if Holla Forums could figure out a way to make a propper dev company and make an Ork game, sure the actual game will be shit but it'll be orky right and propper

These are the same people that thought twirling your mustache and shouting like a tard should give you buffs. I have complete confidence they'll fuck it up.

Orks are a meme race. They exist purely as a joke, and in-game they're just a green unruly horde to shoot at with artillery. Nobody actually wants to play as one.

I've been assured by the Local GW store manage that there won't be any broken units
Should I inform him when Eldar still have broken as shit units

Nothing wrong with a bit of a joke
And Besides a game as Deff Skwadron would be fucking great
Being an Arcade flyer where you get points for taking down any plane, doesn't matter what side

Lasguns?
By modern day standards and not fourty thousand milleniums into the future, they are some super bullshit highly accurate FAL equivalent in mythical laser-based 7.62 Russian that is technically ammoless, recoiless, has no bullet drop to speak of whatsoever because it's a fucking LASER and, depending on the lore you're reading, the gun doesn't even emit any visual feedback other than the charred end of the poor sod who was on the other side of the barrel.
Its own ammo batteries are able to recharge by simply being heated from ANY source and they can even be overloaded to explode as a grenade with the force and range of a vietnam-era napalm bomb drop on steroids.
It can fry an unarmored target to a crisp in one shot from at least 500m and there exists many variants that are fitted with optics or features such as automatic fire for different roles such as suppression or DMR.
It can be massproduced with annual numbers in the trillions by a single Forge World, from which there are several thousands in the entire imperium.
There's very little training needed to actually operate, clean and maintain the things too, and they weight about the same as any modern day battle rifle or perhaps even less given that the equivalent of carrying around 300 rounds for such a weapon would be about 3 hand-size batteries including the one inside the weapon, as opposed to around 15~ 30-rnd magazines or a backpack full of ammo belts for LMGs. Which, by its very nature being self-recharging, there's no need for giving anything to the soldier in terms of logistics other than keeping him fed through the entire campaign.

Basically, it's the ultimate gruntwork weapon made realize, the damn thing is terrifying to think about fielding in any modern army because any opposing army who does not is insanely disadvantaged in both firepower and logistics. The only reason it doesn't dominate the battlefield in 40k is because everything else is so much more fucking overpowered in comparison, like bolters basically being automatic handheld micro-rocket launchers, or it has ridiculeous armor made of bullshittium that not even orbital artillery fire can dent like Tactical Dreadnought "Terminator" Armor.

WHEN

*smacks lipsbits*

Too bad no one will play this.

I could actually work like the roles in RO2. One team would be mainly IG, with some special roles like comissars and exactly one SM, while the other side would be chaos cultists with some roles being lesser demons (higher hitpoints and speed, but only melee attack, for example) and exactly one chaos SM

Orks are literally one of the most popular races in the universe, perhaps only losing in popularity to Imperium

Just no. Better an Inquisitor in PA. Bonus points for Perils royally fucking up everything for the impy side.

I don't want mehreen to lead guardsmen, it's fine for spikey bois but only commissars are fit to BLAMlead guardsmen!

You could even switch that to Orks with grots and shootahs. With one Warlord to take over the role of the SM. Or have the IG SM be replaced with an Ogryn? Plenty of mixups to go around with.

There could be different "gamemodes" that are based on size, for example have IG vs Cultists with a few SM or SMvsCSM with dreadnoughts. Have some horde gamemode of lets say 10 SM vs 50 orkz. The supression, lack of health, and need of a balance of multiple classes is what RO so great. The only thing it lacked was the amount of players allowed in a match. A proper PS2 version of WH40K would have been nice as well FUCK YOU ETERNAL CRUSADE WHERE IS MY F2P ORK GREENTIDE

What if the SM dropped in as reinforcements after a certain amount of time has past?

No.

Dubs confirm the best option.

You uncultured swine. He is straight up Flashman in space. A coward, bully and scoundrel that wants to avoid combat at all costs, but is thrust into it and wins by devious cunning and treachery. Then spins the tale into him being the hero.

Has GW cancelled age of sigmar already or are they still trying to force that shit?

I thought that was just the person writing his biography and not Cain himself.

You mean the FPS one? It's mediocre and really finicky to work with.

If you mean helldivers on the other hand, yes and no.
It's more like the players are catachans or something else rather than just IG.

You don't play as a specific soldier, you play as the REGIMENT, being able to switch from one soldier to another.

Your goal it to win without EVERYONE dying. (good luck)

You dolt!

It's CIAPHAS CANE, HERO OF THE IMPEROIUM!

The WH40k universe is fucking stupid

The SM's bring bolters IF YOU'RE LUCKY
There's nastier stuff.

He's talking in terms of basic weaponry for the SMs

Cain does wrote them, Inquisitor vail just puts them into chapters

n-no you

Eh Thunder Hammers, even Heavy Thunder Hammers are nothing compared to Grav Cannons

...

i dont think bullet sponges automatically make a game bad, but youre looking at a world of diddly squat.

I could actually really go for a Skitarii game

Play as a Sicarian Ruststalker Alpha, where you can upgrade parts into yourself, choose gear, weapons, etc. to fit your playstyle. Includes gear from Vanguard, Ranger, and Infiltrator. Lets you mix and match to make your own Skitarii.

An IG game would be neat if you could play Kasrkins, full-tactical style.

Yes yes, I know. The Ork psychic gestalt field only works when many of them are around, but imagine how cool it would be if you kept firing your twelve-barreled minigun and just as you are about to run out of ammo, the counter suddenly goes ' WAAAGH! / 300 '

And then there'd be the Gretching sidekick who'd constantly serve as your buttmonkey.

Why would you want to play as Green Space Niggers?

You're a bit of a dipshit, aren't you?

If this is an actual game, give sauce, otherwise, nice .gif

...

Relax, the cogboy shilling earned you a reply. It's from a ded mod/hack for one of the Metal Slugs.

They could do it like Battlefront 2's campaign and have one of the survivors narrate the history of the regiment.

Why do you want another game about a generic footsoldier with flashlights when you got one fighting for THE GREATER GOOD.

Go play mass defect: andromeda or something, faggot.

This post is full of so much praise Emperor that it would make the most prudish Sister of Battle wet.

it's one of the best things about 40k. everything is ridiculous

There's a few that despite it all manage to kill xenos without dying the first day. Those few become commissars or get vidya made about them.

Isn't this that animal species who gets their teeth detached without anesthesia by the poachers just so they get all cowardly and marketable?

If you liked Caiphas Cain I 100% recommend the Flashman books. Very interesting, funny and historically sound.

Tacti/k/ool Imperial Guard Stormtrooper Game would be pretty nice.
Harakoni Warhawks game when?

It's already f2p, yo. Play it before it entirely dies.

Disgusting.

Stay true to the original brand.

user, goign by the trend the IG is gonna get squated from GW lineup.

8ch.net/tg/res/309680.html

Which sounds insane but hey that's GW for you.

They aren't Stormtroopers faggots.
Elysian Drop Troops need a Planetside scale style game

Necron weaponry is basically firing plasma projectile at lightspeed. Some of Eldar weaponry is basically firing black holes.

Lasgun aren't shit. Everything else is just completely OP.
De facto the guard curbstomp anyone save:
-Eldritch horrors from another plane that is basically hell.
-Ancient sleeping civilization that basically waged war on two kinds different kind of god-like beings (and sort of won).
-Barely sentient gigantic hordes mushrooms that aforementioned gods engineered for the war against the aforementioned ancient civilization (and sort of won). And that's only if there are really a lot of them.
-Devouring monsters from another galaxy, that might very well have nomed the entire universe.

And that's it. Regular "alien empires" type of enemies cannot face the guard on their own terms (Tau, Eldar, but the countless alien species that don't have models) have to find ways to work around it.

Set it up like Republic Commandos. You play a couple of elite stormtrooper types, starting off on fairly easy missions, slowly working up to much tougher shit what relies more on squad tactics and specialists than your usual raw gunning.

They're incredibly powerful lasers, much more powerful than your typical bullet gun. Though, they also have those. They're called stubbers.
The meme is they do nothing. They're pretty sweet gear, though. Charge in sunlight, albiet very slowly, and pretty much never break.

Sly marbo, ibraham gaunt, ciaphas cain, the last chancers, colonel iron hand, ursakar e. creed, comissar yarrick, and those aer the first ones that come to mind, you uneducated pleb.

...

Hell, an IG Planetside game should be easy. MAX suits become spess mehrines.
Personally, I would want Armageddon Steel Legion though.

They even updated the firing rules to make firing lines of the guard/tau better.

Guardsmen cannot get promoted to comissars, you nedd to be part of the scholla progenia to be a comissar.

Black markets are pretty common for imperial guard regiments, hell, you can even use rules for that in the FFG imperial guard game.

Lasguns are actually pretty good against most nids except the big ones in universe.

The silent storm engine would work wonders for IG.
Also, guardsmen are actually good marksmen, its orks and cultist that are shit at it.

It is still going and i dont understand why.

Colour sargent krel, tank commander pask, the entire world of catachan and all the guard from the books too

thats what "first rank fire! second rank fire!" Is for, pass the order check and those ten dudes now have 40 shots.

Speaking of Eternal Keksade, wasn't an Eldar guild imploding cause they were caught spying on other guilds?

I think 8ch is shitting itself though, it doesn't look like a samefag.

I have no clue how that happened.

it went down and went up and every post before that turned into ops id

cuz we haven't invented the supercomputer to play a game with hundreds of thousands of units on screen, maybe even millions

actually if we used sprites tiny sprites we'd be able to have billions of each on screen

You could literally have like 20 regiments on screen at a time, but it would look like utter shit.

thinking more in key with dominions 4

Watching May Day riots in Portland, the armored bike cops looked pretty spess muhreen. Is this how Judge Dredd starts?
How would you make a game fun involving urban cavalry?

who said we needed a new game? s1.zetaboards.com/OFPWH40K/index/

I'd rather die with Cadia.

FUCK ETHEREALS, FUCK CASTES, AND FUCK YOUR GREATER GOOD!

...

...

...

...

Elves need the firm hand of an user to set them straight.

Eldar are pure.

An army of guardsmen armed with the finest leather belts and firmest hands in the Imperium.

We need a game where you can fuck with other races as the supreme master of trickery and dickery that is better than Tzeentch in every way and is not a big nerd like Tzeentch is.

There was 'That Which Sleeps', but the devs might have taken the money and run

...

...

yes, sitting at wizard spawn until a shuttle is called and just waiting for random events to do people in is enjoying your round rite

funny you bring gib spam up, because people who do that are generally pussies who are afraid of people possibly getting back at them. sort of like the kind of unrobust loser that never even enters the station until everyone is getting on the shuttle, and even then is still too pussy to wear their robes or get on the shuttle. but of course still brags about it and screencaps their post about their ebin ss13 ownage

its like making a CoD frag video about camping in the corner of the map all game, and you don't even get any kills

It could work like it did in Myth, every soldier has a name and gets experience, but if they die on a mission they're gone for good from the campaign. If naming is hard just make the regiment a Death Korp, they have numbers instead of names.

The FPS was great m8, except for the final stand level protecting that queen bug, that was bullshit.
