Why not? A PC is a multipurpose machine. If you're buying one, you should also be using it for other mundane tasks, like word processing, web browsing, taxes or shitposting, as well as hobby stuff like coding or art or 3d modeling, CAD/CAM, SPICE, web development, Russian hacking on steroids, etc.
If you have at least two compatible interests, why wouldn't you splurge on a decent computer? If you're stuck at a desk, you might as well not be stuck waiting on a shitty machine. At a whim, you can emulate practically every game made up until like 2005, including arcade stuff. Online is free, and even if you just look at games released since this generation started, rather than the sum total of like 25 years of games, the PC still has a decently solid library with respect to any given console, although that's only true because of how miserable this generation has been so far. If in a year or so it can run the wiiU's library well, well that's just the fucking cherry on top. Personally, I'm looking forward to PS3 emulation more, shit's coming along.
Of course, you don't have to get that spendy. To have an airgapped PC for dicking around on, I bought a used workstation with an i5 3470 for like $130, slapped a 1050ti in for another $110, a new CPU cooler for $23, and 8gb more ram for another $40, and it runs every game I've thrown at it just fine. Had to mod the case to fit the radiator in though. Came to, what, $303? Probably won't emulate the WiiU yet, but we'll see once they optimize that shit.
If you use your phone for all your computer needs, and just want a device for games only, then yeah, that's cool, just get a wiiU and a PS4. But also please get the fuck out of my face you phoneposting shitter.
