Gnosticism is actually extremely pro-porky. I can see why liberals love it so much. By treating the material as inherently profane it essentially rules out politics as an avenue for spiritual enlightenment.

Some might say the entire early and Valentinian Christian churches would count as tradition.
These dubious texts used to be fairly popular despite constant persecution from the Vatican. Try looking up Bogomils and Cathars as a nice middle-ground time-period examples of Gnostic Christians, more modern ones should be easy to find.

I do sometimes miss being a Jesus man. I remember arguing with Sunday school classmates about whether Jesus is arguing the same thing as Karl Marx about the rich.
