Bird Races

Are there any video games where avian/bird races are a thing and you can play one?

I can't think of a single game its the damnest thing.

When did they add birds?

Also

Starbound? Overgrowth?

There's harpies in the high mountains if that counts as a playable avian/bird race

As much as Id like to play a ninja crow I dont see anything under Overgrowth for a bird race. Is it a mod or something?

I might have to just stick with /tg/ to get a birb fix.

They showed off a bird diving off a high place and flying around perhaps 2 years ago. Not sure

I could've sword there were bird people in Neverwinter Nights but I just looked and I guess that's not the case. Not that you'd really be able to do anything cool with them but still.

Would appreciate a link.

This is the only game you need.

Bird races would probably be a bitch to balance. You'd either have to balance the game around a type of character who can fly, which would probably involve lots of invisible walls (in which case why bother), or have them be flightless birds (in which case why bother.)

I don't understand.
It's the aesthetics I'm after. Flying is optional.

or just not make flying good enough to make them indefinitely aerial.

Dungeon Crawl has Tengu which are birds

Dwarf Fortress

Uh hello.

Shenmue?

Do chocobo races count?

Yeah, it has never been done at all.

I could imagine a squad based game about a gang of crows.

Metroid

Spacestation 13

Still seems like it would be pretty easy to break the game.

It hasn't, actually. A giant empty world with fuck-all in it that was entirely designed around flying is not what I was talking about. Comparing a jet to a flying bird man is apples and oranges anyways.

It'd be pretty easy to mod them into Conquest of Elysium, I think.

I played some sort of bird-angel race in a 1st person Korean MMO like 10 years ago.
Could glide and fly but used something like mana or something for it.

Shining Force on the Genesis had a few birbs that could join. While not particularly strong or tanky their ability to go anywhere on the map immediately was powerful enough I always deployed with them.

:^)
Seriously though a birdman game set in a very vertical environment in the fashion of Styx would be neat. Too bad most devs are just doing "shit that has been done before but with a twist".

The best burd franchise so far, if dead one.

How about playing as an angel :^)

…feathers?

Samus is a burd.

Can we use "shitbirds" to somebody, who made first post in the thread a shitpost? As joke to early bird.

The bird is a mod, you can get it through that integrated mod manager that comes with the "game". As far as I know, pirated version cannot access the mod manager due to online verification, but I could be wrong.

You got a genre in mind?

Ohhh, now I remembered.

Are you bad enough dude to handle Alien Soldier, user?

Another tertiary thread! Look at all these reddit-tier replies. Are we being raided? Reported everyone itt just to be sure. Go back to cuckchan!

Hey, you're back. Ready to tell us what tertiary is now?

Literally the best fucking genesis game.

What are those new buzzwords?

HAAAAAAALLELUJAH

How does a game fuck?

Your totally-not-SJWey politics-shilling threads will get enough views and replies even if this thread exists, don't worry.

I haven't lived boyo.

*you

THE PKUNK STILL LIVE????

But she has human hair, wouldn't she also have human pubes?

Didn't think people would forget this, but it's from back in cuckchan.
Moot defined talking about videogames as such:
Primary: talking about videogames
Secondary: talking about things related to videogames
Terciary: talking about things related to things related to videogames.

He then stated that anything not primary or terciary was to be banned and removed and kept complaying with reason, actually that Holla Forums was the board with the simplest rules "just talk about videogames" and yet it was the one that gave him the most trouble.

Probably what that faggot is talking about, that nobody is talking about vydia or vydia-related things. Because he didn't read the thread and surprise, surprise he's the one doing the raiding :^)

You got me looking for Ravine, hoping for some old game about burds but instead it's just Deviant art…

Anyway, how'd you guys balance out flying races? Flying is quite possibly the best form of movement, complete freedom and breaking barriers easily which means there are a lot of obstacles that just aren't going to work.
On top of this, most ways to handle flying and not make it OP usually make flying not fun at all and detract from the whole point of it.

If it was a survival simulator, you could just have flying be considered an activity that exhausts you faster, about twice the rate of running. But otherwise, the best you can do is reduce their stats making burds weak or give everyone else jetpacks and similar stuff.

There have been aerial racing games before (I can think of two off the top of my head which are Freaky Flyers, pic related, and MACH on the PSP). Of course there's limits on where you can fly but you can always come up with reasons for racing to take play in a canyon or a city. Also one of the secret characters in Freaky Flyers is someone dressed like a Chicken.

Also if we're being loose on what playing a bird in a racing game is, you can chose Pecker in the freeplay mode of Jak X Combat Racing. It's a real stretch since it's a talking bird monkey driving a car but it counts.

But wouldn't Styx with a bird instead of a goblin be "Shit that has been done before but with a twist"?

wow that threads back memories playing with Holla Forums and not respawning after dieing so people can see your name as they fly by.

stupid bird

I was never on cuckchan, so yeah. In any case that's a strange term to sperg with here and now.

i used to spank off to freaky flyers gamepro ad

Even before 2014?

I'm pretty sure someone fucked up SotS on steam, something with the CD-keys. So people can't play it if they got it from there right now.

The first imageboard i visited was Holla Forums.

It's amazing how there's no real porn of it. This is all that shows up when you look up Freaky Flyers Rule 34

Sage for offtopic

Damn. I was going to call you a fucking newfag but I remembered 2014 was 15 years ago.

grazie

Riveting.

No, I was on 7chan. But by 2014 it was just too dead.

This game right here OP, you can fly Hedwig against other AI birds and ride Hippogriffs around Hogwarts-

Not really. All the political talk in this board does fit in with that definition and should definetely be expunged back to it's corresponding boards.
Then again, lots of people prefer to talk about ID politics than videogames and we can't have them get upset, can we?

Third pic reminds me of Revolution66. I'm sorry for putting that image in your head.

wew, if you just want to fap to birds, go yiff somewhere else

yiff in hell

I wonder if there's a specific term, like yiff or rerr, for birds.

Feathers originally evolved most likely to support gliding. You could have a mechanic where you could glide and flap around for short periods of time. It would also set limitations on the movement to make the gameplay fun.

skreeh?
"hey kid, wannna skreeh?"

It was rumored that Blizzard planned arakkoa as one of playable races in Cataclysm, before worgens were announced.

Give race wing-hands, so that when they are flying, they can't use things like bows or magic. That way, they can move fast and away from ground, but are also unable to attack and vulnerable to attacks from below. It would also make levitation magic still useful to such races. Flying would also make you easier to spot, limiting options for surprise attacks. Equipment weight could impact how long, fast, and high you can fly. Places like forests and caves would be technically be more dangerous to you, because they would limit or eliminate your flight ability.

Another thing to consider would be flying enemies, winds, and weather. They would be able to knock you from the sky, and falling from great enough distance would mean instant death. Same thing if your wing was damaged due to an attack from the ground. When flying in thunderstorms, lightning would become an issue too.
If race would be avian, hollow bones would also mean that they are more vulnerable to bone fractures and such.

is this a guy or a girl
not that it matters too much

Skeksis/10

If I remember correctly the Turians in Mass Effect are avian and you can play as them in Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer (which as pretty good, contrary to the main game).

Cloaca's a cloaca.

???

Well, it has wide hips and looks like a stuck up bitch.

There's one about an owl, based on a movie based on a book or some shit. Remember playing the demo. No idea if it ended up being good.

Oddly enough, Legend of the Guardians is one of least shit of Snack Zyder's movies. I think it's probably because he couldn't ruin any acting with his shit-tier people-directing skills.
