People wanted P5 to be about college students since forever ago. I remember people discussing it on forums all the way back in 2011 and then it really blew up when AtlusxP5 happened. I get the feeling that a college setting for Persona is gonna be the biggest thing in fanfiction shit like RPG Maker fan games and webcomics(that will end shortly after completing their first chapter, after running just long enough to blueball you).

Yeah, that would be pretty neat. Taking P5 as a example, I'd much prefer a game where the party are characters like Iwai and Sae.

You know it probably won't happen though. The closest you're gonna get is Persona 2 where Tatsuya wanting to go to college is a plot point. Which is a real fucking shame because I found the high school setting of Persona 5 really limits what they can do with the story.

Something I've been meaning to ask - is the fusion system the same as in P4 where you get a specific Arcana Persona by fusing two specific Arcana Personae (like Magician + Sun = Death or whatever). The game has no manual so I've no clue but, in any case, it looks extremely streamlined compared to P4 like how triangle fusion seems to be a unglorified special fusion now. Already noticed you can get a Lovers Persona from plain fusion which was impossible in P4.
Kinda curious since this shit really fondled my 'tism in P4; burned countless hours trying to get the perfect abominations.

These were my favorite games growing up, but I never really remember the plot or characters too well. Yet, I remember so much about the Personas and find them the most enjoyable part of the games. Turns out I like mythology a lot, so the games gave me a new hobby. Can't say that about any other game so far.

The whole getting arrested/flashback thing is setting back Persona 5 for me. Honestly, getting caught would have been a cool enough plot twist, but not only did you lose that, you lost it for what, a 30 second cutscene every time you establish a new link?
Also every single character in the main cast is fucking obnoxious and I don't see any way of redeeming them. At least Junpei was kinda okay towards the end of the game.

That and the school wasn't really a focus it was more kinda just there you could tell kinda the dev team wanted to leave the school element in the background. I feel leaving the High School setting while risking would open a lot more creative freedoms such as not being so restrictive in what you can or can't do anymore.

This guy could have been a really fun fight had they increased his level by 4-5 and given a bit more survivability/resistances to his angels.

He follows a 4 turn cycle:
Turn 1 he summons two angels or attacks if they're still alive.
Turn 2 he does Power Charge followed by Sword Dance.
Turn 3 he casts God's Judgement and Mabufudyne/Maziodyne/Cosmic Flare.
Turn 4 he uses Dekunda and Megidoloan (debilitates if no -nda debuffs on him)
then goes back to turn 1

The angles are what make this fight interesting as they follow this logic:
If angel has less than 10% hp cast recarmdra.
If Michael doesn't have Sukukaja, cast it on him.
If Michael doesn't have Rakukaja, cast it on him.
If Michael has both Sukukaja and Rakukaja, cast recarmdra.

I fought him on hard when I was low enough level to be unable to survive a raw megidoloan and he ended up giving me more trouble than the final boss (also underleveled) who was comparatively quite easy.

3 has many redeeming features such as the battle theme, the final boss and final theme as well as a few decent tracks thanks to the magic that is Lotus Juice.
Having more than one attack type and characters with their own schedules, as well as an excellent ending also helped. However as it stands 3 is far from the best is the series and at the least is easily beaten by 5. Take off your nostalgia goggles.

Because I'd get caught so few times I'd prefer if alertness rose to a new tier each time you were spotted and only dropped 5-10% on ambush(IE: 30% when spotted). Having it go to a new alertness tier when you're spotted would get rid of the habit I developed where if it were the last enemy or two in the room I'd just rush them not caring about ambushing(Because not getting the ambush didn't matter for me because I was almost always 3 levels over what I needed to be).
And having it only drop 5-10% on ambush would make it more difficult to reduce the alertness and make players more cautious.

Because Persona has clearly tried to turn their stories into a hybrid of slice of life and dungeon crawling. P3 was terrible about this because almost all of its slice of life was so far removed from the core of the rest as to be pointless. This was my point. So many of the s-links are just random people. P4 is still far from perfect, but it starts to tighten it up and since your party consists of an actual group of friends rather than a group haphazardly thrown together who just kind of tolerate each other, they get scenes where they do fun stuff together to make the plot stuff they do together feel like it matters more.

P5 has, hand down, the best collection of links in all of the games that they also managed to tie better into the main plot than they ever have before.

I'm not saying P4 was the best. I'm saying the series has been getting steadily better at what's it's been aiming for with each successive game.

They don't really telegraph that Adachi is the bad guy that much until the Rise part of the game. Akechi is only unexpected if you're a retard. Game starts with telling you someone sold you out, and Goro is a fucking lawfag who works with the police. Not to mention he doesn't join your party until you've already hit the usual 8 party members which makes him super suspicious for anyone who's played more than one Persona game.
It's even worse if you were following the pre-release material for Persona 5 where Goro is absent from most of the material and then for things like the costume DLC they cut off his face while the rest of the cast have their faces shown. If you wanna talk about heavily telegraphed I don't think it gets much worse than how Atlus handled Goro in the pre-release material.

It had a couple of scenes, namely the beach and the Kyoto trip, but honestly I don't see why having more scenes with your party doing stuff is bad? I think they're both pretty forced. The difference with P4, to me, is the entire plot segment for them, down to a dungeon, is built around that. There's an argument to be made for subtly, I guess, but honestly I don't think either story has what it takes to be called subtle to any meaningful degree. So I guess I'm arguing that since they're both similar levels of subtle, P4 has a bit of an edge because it at least gets to explore more of it. But someone hates that kind of story thing to begin with, then I guess that doesn't matter.
