The 1060 6GB is actually fairly capable with 1080p, although the RX 580 is clashing with it pretty well. If you plan on getting a 2070 or 2080 it's going to be pretty terrible if you have a 1080p monitor since it'll use about 20% of the GPU. I suggest you get a 580 since it's beating the absolute shit out of the 1060 in 1080p60 games right now, especially in price.

Modern integrated gpus tend to be quite good specially considering the last few good games are getting older and older. An answer that might not be obvious to everyone: Emulators. Most emulators make little to no use of the GPU. The ones that do tend to be 5th and 6h gen emulators and tend to still have a more accurate software render (the gpu-accelerated one being a performance trick).

Still using my old 2.8 ghz and 128 vram desktop to play game, since most of what I play is as old or older than that. Just finished Shadow of the Comet. Thinking of either playing Veil of Darkness or BloodNET next. Actually I came across this old Westwood RPG called Lands of Lore that was pretty decent.
