Pinball Game General

Pinball counts as vidya, right?
I've recently obtained a cracked Pinball Arcade, and I've realized how much fun pinball is. What's some of Holla Forums's favorite tables?

I remember playing the shit out of that as a kid. It was pretty good, but I prefer replicas of real tables. Just a personal preference.

No one escapes the black hole.

You have excellent taste. Also, I should probably link the hast for the cracked version, give the anons a taste of some real pinball.

The pinball machine in Duke Nukem Forever was more fun then the entry rest of the game.

also Sonic and Pinball is usually a good combo.

Personally, I gravitate more toward games with fictional tables. If I wanted real tables, I'd go downtown and get my fill at the arcade there, or hit up the mall about a half-hour's drive away and mess with Jersey Jack's Wizard of Oz table.

Understandable. I'm a NEET with no car myself, so I don't have that luxury. But I'm glad we can have this discussion and not once call the other person a faggot.

There is only one pinball game for me. I love pinball games you can actually 'beat'. It also has the best song.

I can't argue with that. Black Knight 2000 was what really got me into pinball. It's pretty much the most 80's thing to ever exist.

This was my favorite at the local arcade.

That table looks pretty nice. I like the spinning pizza.

Nice reddit meme you shitpost-loving cuck

Nice Holla Forums meemee, you nazi bootlicker degenerate.

Hit a nerve, Moishe?

I don't care much for the game of pinball itself. It's too simplistic and limited and also no amount of git gud stops the ball from getting between the paddles but damn, pinball tables are probably the best outllet for rad as fuck artwork as far as a physical medium goes.
Hand-drawn artwork of course, none of that cheap photoshopped tat you see on some of them.

I understand where you're coming from, but if you think Pinball is too simplistic that just tells me you haven't played a story-table yet. I'd suggest Tales of the Arabian Nights, or Theatre of Magic. Also, nudging the table helps with that, though I prefer to play it clean.
why even live

Oh I'm well aware that there are tables with some spectacular mechanisms on them and I know there are tables with 4, 6, 8 paddles etc. but the core game itself doesn't appeal to me.

Is nudging the table considered a legitimate maneuver among pinball communities?

For the former point, I'm not referring to the mechanisms/gimmicks. I mean the table has an actual storyline. You have to do seven different tales, each different from eachother, then battle the genie to rescue the princess. All in three balls. Not to mention the fireball challenge, multiball, and the wish mechanic and all that.
As for the latter, I'm not too sure myself. I personally consider it cheating, but I'm not sure what the community as a whole thinks.

The tables are designed to give you two warnings before TILT and loss of ball+bonus. As long as you don't TILT, bumping is 100% part of the game.

Also, uploading Pinball Arcade crack to the Volafile as we speak. Will reply again when finished.

Aaaand it's up. look around on the above volafile link to find it.

Also a reminder that Centaur is a brutally unforgiving table.

That does sound pretty comfy actually…

Thanks

So you see where I'm coming from, then. Most tables made after the mid-late 80s had objectives beyond "get a shit-ton of points", even stories. Hell, JunkYard even had a player alignment system of a sort.
Also, I'm contemplating a sort of Guitar Hero style campaign mode for those that have the cracked Pinball Arcade version. Like how Guitar Hero had venues each with their own songs associated with them, we could have Arcade venues, each with its own selection of tables.

I do see where you're coming from. The story mode makes it sound a whole lot more interesting. That's a nice idea too, user.

The first and second pinball venues should be "Ron's Basement" and "Dave & Busters", probably in that order. And naturally, "Gone Nuts" should be the secret bonus table after beating the final boss, seeing as how only 10 of them were made.

I don't even know what you're talking about but your enthusiasm is rubbing off on me and I think I'll go look some of these things up.

I got ya fam. You want it in volafile or torrent hash?

I misunderstood what you meant, but I still gotcha fam.
Dave & Busters is a mix of sports bar and arcade in America. Basically the only chance most normalfags have to play arcade games since arcades are so rare nowadays.
Ron's Basement is just something I made up, basically just some pinball machine collector's basement.
Gone Nuts is one of the rarest pinball tables of all time. It was never mass produced, and only 10 exist.

The Star Wars trilogy table is my favourite, the one that yells "Shoot the Death Star!" when you're going for multi-ball. That was the first pinball I got in to (it showed up at the fish and chip shop around the time when SF2 came out so the two are inextricably linked in my mind) and it was also my introduction to Star Wars.
I don't know too many non-licensed tables, but one of my favourite digital ones is the Mars table that was on the Wii U.

Torrent please

I like Pinball FX2 and am gonna get the DLC for it. Is it regarded well among actual pinball players? I'm curious.

The T2 machine was favorite as a kid. I loved the pistol grip ball launcher.

lol you jsut poopie so harddhada

th-thanks?

There's also the hash over here, it's probably faster

The Judge Dredd table is one of my favorites and the super game theme is rad. Also
EARTHSHAKER

Holy shit that looks badass. I'll have to play that one.

The Lord of the Rings is my favorite table. My favorite part is when you get the different members of the fellowship.(each member has a different soundbite, and the 'and my axe!' line is included.)

this is how you keep a machine profitable folks

That's pretty fucking sleazy.

Holy shit, I just had my best run yet on Centaur.

more webms. Too big for 8ch, so vola

Nice game. My favorites so far have been Theatre of Magic and Arabian Nights. Not only are the games more interesting, but the tables feel less bullshit than most of the others I've played.

Both excellent tables. I think Haunted House will replace Black Hole on my favorites list. It basically fills that same niche but better.

Man I'd rather own all that stuff.

It's like fucking Train Simulator.

I wish more pinball games used the fact that they don't have to adhere to real life physical limits and just had fun with the concept.
Then again, I've only played like 3 different pinball games: Balls of Steel, Space Cadet and Pinball Hall of Fame: The Willaims Collection.

It always takes me at least 15 minutes to beat Casinopolis because I always get so lost in the comfy-ass NiGHTS pinball.

...

Probably the one thing that makes me not like pinball games is side drains. Feels like there is nothing you can do about them, the ball just pings off a bunch of bumpers and into the side drain.

Yeah, it kinda sucks sometimes. I hear learning to nudge will mitigate that.

My favorite two pinball machines.

The Terminator one is in Pinball Arcade. Just sayin'.

How long do files stay on Vola again? I wanna get in on that bumpin' uglies action when I get home tomorrow.

It has between 3 and 4 days left. But vola is slow as balls, so if you can, use the torrent hash at

Excellente.
I got bandwidth to spare, I'm not a filthy aussie I'm a filthy slav.

Pinball seems like the perfect genre for slavs.

Then how come I've never seen a pinball machine while still living in motherland?

Just played both of those. The Super Game theme is indeed rad as fuck.

Then my assumption is wrong and racist.

1) slavic is not an ethnicity, just a subsection of the white race, same with blacks and niggers
2) don't apologize for your comments, just admit it if they're objectively wrong and learn from it(remember - assumption is the mother of all fuck ups)

Huh, I thought slav was a ethnicity.

Other people may/will tell you differently, but in the end of the day we're all part of the big lovable human race :^)
Problem is, some of the subsections tend to be shit and we're back to square one

Can anyone else get pinball arcade to launch in portrait mode DX11? Whenever I try to get it to I just get a 16:9 resolution with huge black bars on the top and bottom, but if I play it in DX9 portrait works. And it lags like hell in DX9

You're the cancer killing video games

CAMPAIGN MODE IS GO

I remember my autist brain loved the sounds in that game sooo much.

Bumping with smaller DX11-only version, on Mega

Link works great compared to the vola download, got it running. Too bad I suck at it though.

I always tried my fucking best to escape in the level and explore it. Never could, sadly.

Bump.

I really fucking wish arcades would come back. I hear that there's a vidya themed bar here in los angeles, but I went to an italian restaurant alone at night during the week when it was practically empty and I was nearly panicking.

Being a shut in sucks.

DO NOT DEFILE THE KIRBY WITH MEMES

watch this and get back to me

vimeo.com/44970176

use up pushes to negate the effect of the slings also nudge the ball away form the inlane outlane area instead of trying to hope it goes through the inlane

Anyone else ever play Monsters Inc. Pinball Panic?

I loved that shit.

My favorite pinball table

It's like I'm reading a pinball flyer

Who Dunnit always felt incomplete; it lacks depth for a game with so much cool shit on the playfield. Finding out that there was no special round for completing the five listed cases especially was pretty disappointing, but I still gotta give it points for the swank theme. Makes it a nice trophy game in the same way that Bride of Pinbot is, except without all of the sensual moaning.

You now realize that Space Cadet was a demo for a standalone pinball game sold around that time.

What do you anons think about the table Gorgar?

It's alright. Within the era, it's pretty nondescript and only really notable for its speech, but you certainly don't get any games like it anymore. All we get out of Stern anymore are licensed themes, which lack the charm that tables with original sci-fi or fantasy themes had. It's what sells, I suppose.

Gorgar's gameplay is pretty basic, so there's not a lot to say about that; there are other games like Skateball that did what Gorgar did but better. I also do prefer Algar over Gorgar on account of how ridiculous the layout is, but hell'll freeze over before anybody actually finds one to play.

Okay, that was pretty close pamphlet talk, but I just liked the elevator and figuring out what gave out what.

But that is a bummer there isn't something for completing the 5 cases.

Program called Pinball fx2 on Steam. Got alot of DLC maps so you can probably find a repack of it somewhere.
I frankly suck at pinball, I can't get the skill shots required to get the ball in a specific place to get the points or I hit it into one of the side gutters and lose the ball.

The elevator is a rad centerpiece, though I've found it's a little easy to shoot; you can keep a ball in play for a very long time by shooting the elevator over and over again, which gets even more ridiculous when you combine it with the 100 million rooftop bonus. I think there are some settings that raise a target bank to block it after each shot, but I'm not sure why more operators wouldn't use that. For the same reason, anyway, it's a nice game to find in an arcade because of how much mileage you can get out of one game. There's certainly still a lot in it to find.
