My Freecell game has daily quests

because it's easy to nickel and dime a bunch of retards who won't see the bill til the end of the month
said retards don't have the patience for anything too complex anyway, so the design theory itself has to be simple and addictive

This is on the icon for the only mobile game I fuck with.

Because the vast majority of them exist in heavily regulated (((online stores))) and seek to make as much of a profit off of normalfags with as little effort as possible.

The rest are either games from somewhere else, or something with a gimmick and a minuscule amount of effort like Granblue or Final Fantasy gachashit.

There's no reason to improve if their buyers aren't asking for it. If they're willing to eat shit why make anything better?

Can you even make a good game for mobile devices just by virtue of the limited controls?

Is any game on mobile devices that is good and not just "good for a mobile game" ?

Because normalfags don't have enough attention span for anything more complex than Candy Crush, that's why most phone games have so many pay walls. Please stop asking this weakly

DownWell is passable

are there any good mobile games? god how hard is it to make a simple arpg or old zelda clone.

Because they're mobile.

Carmageddon sure works nicely.

The same reason why you are retarded enough to ask. Mobile games are just portable slot machines. Every part of the design and appeal is the same. A Skinner Box of shinny lights designed to part retards like yourself from money.

You could do turn-based RPGs without any problems. You could also set up a turret shooter that utilizes the gyroscope for movement. You'd probably look like an idiot, but it could work.

There's no reason to make a good mobile game, it won't make anything in comparison to the mountains of F2P cashgrabs out there. The current state of mobile gaming is what Atari was wading through right before the crash, only there won't be a crash this time because a few whales make even the shittiest game profitable.

Because they're specifically designed to emulate a physical addiction for the sake of cash.
Nobody likes taking 10+ shots of liquor in a row, or smoking 2+ packs of cigarettes a day, but that doesn't stop alcoholics, smokers, and slavs from throwing shekels at their enablers without a second thought.

They're only suppose to appeal to the overwhelmingly minority amount of garbage people who'll actually spend money on them.

Because it's underdeveloped.

A tower defense game could work, I imagine there's a lot on mobile, but they probably all suck.

But all the games are basically this, because people are idiots and sociopaths want to profit off those idiots. If you want to make a good game as an indie dev, you develop on PC, if you want to make money, then you develop on mobile.

Because it is not fiscally worth the investment to make a competent game for mobile.
Shovel out the shit for the whales and move on.

Because the controls on a phone are shit, people don't buy phones for good games/they don't play games other then shitty mmos and tap grinding games, and it is very cheaps to make shit hundreds of shit games to get more idiots to download and make you money.

...

Even some DS games play better without using buttons, why has nobody made something like this for mobile?

Because
IT ISN'T FISCALLY VIABLE TO SERIOUSLY DEVELOP FOR MOBILE

Mobile games are bad for one simple reason, they were born in the age of bad games, and without any big developers to actually pave the road and show everyone else how to innovate and make good games using new hardware and new inputs smaller devs were left to fend for themselves.

Of course the popularity with the casual crowd did not help the situation either, as any system that becomes the casual go-to platform is usually filled with shovelware.

The straw that broke the camels back happened this year, when Nintendo moved to mobile, and rather than bringing with them the game design knowledge they've accumulated through the years to show everyone how to make good mobile games, they decided to take all the (bad) design decisions that had already been done by the terrible mobile devs and make them their own.

At this point there is no way to fix the mobile industry, Nintendo was the last hope it had.

what? make a fun mobile game? but how do I gouge the audience if they are having fun?

Because most of those games are written by pajeets.

GTA VC is great. And so is the Bards tale. But no one wants to make goo games for mobile, only cash cows.

Charge them an initial fee.

Doesn't that heavily argue the game is good if it makes you want to play it and not for shitty achievements, but actual improvements and upgrades?

The overwhelming majority of everything is "garbage" - or rather just mediocre enough to not be worth attention

But then they're just spending money once. That doesn't support the whaling scheme of mobage devs.

There are those professor layton spin offs
Then there is that TWEWY port
Square Enix generally has pretty good mobile games though that doesn't stop them from making grindy whaleclickers.

Make better ones OP. You could create a clique of non-freemium redpilled games.

Because the mobile market incentives it. The market ignores and punishes good games that come with a small price tag and rewards F2P trash. So companies maximize profits by quickly churning out as much F2P garbage with in-app purchases as they can. And when another game hits it big, every other studio tries to make a clone of it because mobile users are so dumb that they'll dump money into clones of a clone of a clone.

Depends how you want to define good. On paper they're the greatest games ever created off how much "value" they have.

Yes.
Sequel is even better.

The weird thing is that when mobile games become popular the flash games started to become utter shit, like it was a migration of talent.
Is there anything to support this hypothesis ?

no, because mobile games were always shit and flash games used to be good

...

What are you talking about? There are plenty of fun games you can play on mobile.
emulation-general.wikia.com/wiki/Emulators_on_Android
See?

Flash games are still great, idle games will save gaming and bring the new golden age.

I sometimes wonder how much cookies I have from when I played Cookie Clicker for 2 hours 3 years ago
then I realize I don't give a fuck

It won't work here.

Because they're dirt cheap to make and retarded indian and russian children will play the garbage anyway. It doesn't reward effort at all. The console and PC gaming communities have at least a standard of quality, pure trash won't make money.

this is such a stupid question holy shit how did you even find your way to this board? you might as well ask if you can make a good game using only the mouse

The mobile game audience is a market made up mostly of people who have never played a game before. The developers are taking advantage of the fact that the players have no prior reference of what a 'good' or even a 'fair' game is.

Mobile games are about instant gratification in a way even more extreme than any given video game as we know them.
In a way, its almost going back to old school design where you just drop into the fucking game and play instead of have to deal with endless cutscenes and tutorials and all of that shit.

...

Try Dandy Dungeon

LOL

Because it's almost impossible to control an intense action game decently with a goddamn touch screen, and few people have a gamepad.

Because they are catering to consumers with the absolute lowest standards.

Instead of focusing on the shit overwhelming the mobile game industry, let's instead post some good games.

downwell seemed neat. i havent seen it on mobile though.

Pic related?
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.gr.java_conf.sakatasnow.YukkuriDiary&hl=en

Most gamepads for phones in the maket are garbage because the D-pad sucks or the buttons often fail to register simultaneous inputs like Y+B due to bad processing or cheap parts, so far i have owned 2 a Gamesir and an Ipega and sold both due to this, i am currently waiting a Madcatz one that used to be pricey but went on sale and see if it works better

I liked the Potion Maker and that slime waifu: the game one. Antiquia: Lost or something ?

Because phones are the worst platform to play or develop games on.
The touchscreen is, with the possible exception of the DS which still used a second non-touch screen, buttons and a stylus, the worst input device on the face of the fucking planet, and to develop for mobile you need to not only take this into account, but you also get to choose between Apple's closed garden bullshit or have to develop a game that can run on a fucking pop tart with android.
Seriously though, I will give 500 american dollars to anyone who can find a worse platform for developers or players.

Wait, what? You think mobile games suck because they didn't have any positive role models in the industry to look up to? Shovelware is ubiquitous on any platform which doesn't have quality standards. Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony all have quality standards. Not great quality standards, but they are there. Any time a new market niche opens up, the first ones there are always the bottom feeders racing to publish something - anything - to turn over a quick buck. If nobody is there to curate the marketplace, or enforce a quality standard, it becomes a race to the bottom of who can put out the most software the fastest. Why put out 1 quality or mediocre game that might only sell to 5% of the market, when for a fraction of the price, you can put out 10+ trash titles that sell to people who don't play games and therefore have no standard for quality.

In the mean time, this chokes out the market and larger game studios into either safer markets or into adopting the cancerous model to compete. Eventually, the novelty will wear off - or enough consumers will voice generally negative experiences - that the market will eventually turn and the bubble bursts. Even if there is still a strong core player base to fall back on, the market will still be devastate as all that inflated valuation that so many have invested in just evaporates.

It happened with the Wii. Nintendo used shovelware to help pad out the library after most devs couldn't figure out how to develop around the fucking waggle stick. The hardware sold well, and while it did get a lot of good games, it got nowhere near as many as the units sold would normally imply. The competition with shovelware that flooded the market was too strong, and a lot of third parties passed over making Wii games or developing Wii versions of their more high-profile titles. Come the WiiU, and the bubble had burst. People were tired of the novelty, and the games weren't high enough quality to keep them around. They saw a WiiU and just wrote it off as an upgraded Wii.

When Microsoft brags that they have 1,000 games currently in development for the Xbox One/Scorpio… pic related is what comes to mind. Same situation. They can't get any serious developer to give them the time of day, so they're going to fill the gap with indieshit and mobile phone ports. This shit is working for the time being on Google Play because it's a side-cart function to what's become a vital communication device. Steam is drowning in garbage, though, and even they know it's killing them. The MS store has a long list of things that are killing it, and being flooded with shovelware trash is certainly not helping.

Where were you when MS was so desperate for sales, that they turned the Scorpio into a 4k Ouya.

Because plebs pay to consume shit.

Because nobody wants to pay for mobile games, and nobody wants to make free mobile games unless they get a nice profit off of microtransactions. That's really all there is to it.

Why would you get a gamepad for your phone? If you're going to look like a faggot in public, at least drop the transparent pretense of normalcy of playing on a phone and just buy a 3DS to play where everyone can see your shame.

because:
but ok it rly just a conspiracy to get NEETs to steal their parents credit card and generate a nationwide economic crisis to speed up pbr-flavored ultracommunism i can't believe that's an actual term

The only good games on a mobile phone would be the ones you can emulate.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. They have standards, they set the example about what can be done on their repsective platforms.

Also you agree with me with your second point so I'm not sure why you're saying I'm not right, if nobody is there to curate or enforce a standard then everyone does whatever they want.

No role models > Shitty games
The argument that there's shovelware on every platform has nothing to do with what I'm saying.

It's not a matter of someone being there to show them what a quality product looks like, it's a matter of someone being there to enforce a standard. There's plenty of quality games on the PC, but the Steam store is still flooded with trash that choking out larger publishers from putting their titles on there. Why should EA or Ubi put their games on Steam where they're going to get buried under a mountain of walking sims and dime-a-dozen indie-pixelshit - especially when they're large enough to just open up their own EA/Ubi specific storefront.

These shitters don't care about putting out a quality product, so what the fuck good would examples of companies doing it right be? The customers certainly aren't seeming to be giving a fuck for the time being.

It's not about role models - it's about enforced quality standards. One thing console have done right is having a pay-wall for verification of quality and authorization to keep the vast oceans of sewage out. Or at least down to an acceptable minimum. That's exactly what Steam is doing now, because they've reached a point where there are more "games" being released in a single month than what used to be released over several years. 1/3 of their entire catalog published just last year.

Who's been bitching the most about the move by them to offer refunds on games and charging a gatekeeping fee? These people don't give a fuck about what Sega or Activision or Capcom are doing. There's no examples being followed. They don't want to make games like that. They want to make "art projects", or no-talent hacks churning out cheap cash-grabs, or pajeets running f2p sweatshops.

You can't lead by example. You have to put up a fence to keep them from shitting all over your yard.

I hope you take good care of it if it works because Madcatz went rip.

Because the mobile game industry is thinly-veiled online gambling

...

been playing this

Air Traffic Chaos could be ported to mobile with more airports.
The interface should work even better in a smartphone screen.

is there a version of this image with catgirls?

buskay

...

This is the only mobile game I have on my android phone because the touch controls don't hinder the gamplay.

Why can't somebody just make a smartphone with a physical keyboard in addition to the touchscreen or AT LEAST some buttons? My old Sony Ericsson k800i had a shitton of games that were times more enjoyable than any smartphone piece of shit ever released simply because it had buttons.

I just don't understand the irrational hatred of buttons in mobile devices these days. Not only that, but why the fuck does every smartphone have to be exactly the same? At least back with old mobile phones there was some real variety and choice, but now it's just a flat rectangle with a screen on one side.

Seriously, fuck the smartphone market. It's just one big bloated piece of shit. I can't wait for the bubble to burst already.

phones with keys are nothing new. i dont know how comfy it is to use though, especially for the vidyas.

Download an emulator and a FE4 rom. Battles last ridiculously long, it takes 3 hr for me to complete a chapter, but it's comfy on flights.

Get a load of this normalfag.

Blackberry has a model like that.

Bloons Tower Defense 5 is actually a good game.

he said good games

...

Why would a cat need anti-depressants if it's too stupid to understand the concept of depression?

...

Does Viagra actually work on cats?

I've been wondering the same thing.

How about Viagra?

Because it's a cat, and cat being the niggers of animal kingdom can't understand what's around them to improve themself
Dogs on the other hand clearly understand emotion and consider their owner/pack member above them self because they know they need to get better to make it

because they are aimed towards people who have no taste and low expectations

You can't improve on perfection.

I think people are just denouncing the state of the current mobile store.

Back then when the store was starting out there were actually a couple of good indie games with innovative control schemes and concepts. I especially liked Mika Mobile's games before the developer went to shit like the rest of the market.

Because most of them are the equivalent to flash games. They have no mechanical depth and there's no fun in just playing it. The interface sucks under almost all circumstances. Contrary to what some anons have said, the markets they're in are not heavily regulated or marketed, so you get a lot of clones, rip-offs, etc. It's also heavily saturated so only things with market appeal will rise to the top, and most aren't games as much as arbitrary waiting simulators and micronstransaction shitfests. Most solely exist as a mechanism to deliver ad-revenue to the creators so they can 'work on stuff that's actually good' without ever getting around to that part.

Tl;dr - Because the platform fosters shit games.

I know phones have accelerometer, never heard of one with a gyro.
It would become (I think) impossible to separate orientation and acceleration without gyro.

...

jesus fucking christ, did he kill himself yet

Dogs sometimes eat their own shit and lick up puke, don't give em too much credit

How insecure do you have to be to give a shit? Sure if you're wearing a hello Kitty shirt, have man boobs, and a triforce tattoo I get it… But if you look like a normal person who gives a fuck if you want to play monster hunter while you're at the.dmv, fuck em.

Dedicated shitposters, user.

Battle Girl High School is pretty solid! It's Japanese-only on Japanese Google Play. It's a mix of rhythm-based combat, visual novels, dressup, and interior design sim. You play as a teacher to a classroom of romanceable middle school and high school girls. There's lots of collectable art cards (gatchas) you can combine for different abilities, stats, and weapons. The app's fully voiceacted, and the voice actors are making adorable idol units now. Amazingly, the app requires no creepy permissions.

You need 星のかけら (real currency substitute), but the game gives it to you for free so generously you can barely play and buy a round or 2 every gatcha cycle. I've never struggled for 星のかけら.

I tried that game just for you. It fucking sucks. kys

Every time.

That game needs a stylus to work well which most phones do not have. In general, controls are the reason you can't have decent mobile games.

Looks cute.

Have you people ever looked at the top selling lists on anything like Steam for example or any sort of sales reports? It's all fucking garbage. Fucking streamer bait and sports games. Why do you think it would be any better on mobile? There are good mobile games, you just need to look for them elsewhere. The japanese/asian mobile game industry is a lot better for example than what the west shits out. Japanese versions of games tend to be more generous as well compared to global versions.

Most good mobage is rhythm games, puzzle games or games that focus on grinding for the perfect team. The one thing that's nearly always present is collecting cute cards/girls. Action games are a little rarer to be good because of the touch input but Honkai Impact is pretty close to Bayonetta. It's still not going to be the same as full priced PC or console games but it's not the trash you people make it out to be in your ignorance.

I find yukkuris cute, so I found the game to be pretty fun. I'd say give it a try if you think it might be your sort of thing. There's also a pc version, but it's pretty far behind in updates compared to the mobile version.

why would a cat be depressed

Because they might become aware that they're shit-tier.

Sonic CD

because the platform is garbage

your phone isn't designed with games in mind. if it was, it would have been designed with buttons; your smartphone was designed with dipshit retarded Apple cultists in mind

First it was because the screen was too small and the guts too weak and then it was because of fucking touchscreens.

This is too good

My fucking nigger. That was one excellent phone for its time.
I had Worms and Tetris on mine. Got seriously good at Tetris because I'd play it every time I went for a shit or a bus ride.
Back in the days when playing on your phone for half an hour didn't empty a full battery.

because it's a stupid shitty industry by and for stupid shitty people?

The issue isn't the games themselves. The issue is the audience. On the one hand we have normalfags that don't actually want a game to play but actually just want something to twiddle about with on the bus or metro preferably with meaningless numbers going up. On the other hand you've got the whales that want to win at any cost(even though 99% of these games do not have a win or a lose state, just varying degrees of progress). They are from the same breed of faggots that actually pay for hacks in online FPS.

Bloons is on mobile. It´s ok.

Want me to post some cute yukkuri's?

Majority games are bullshit because they create virtual buttons with no haptic feedback that isn't vibrating the whole goddamn phone.

Try playing Osmos HD, where it makes efficient use of the touch control.
Plague Inc. is also another good game

I usually just read manga while on the bus. Beats carrying dozens of physical volumes with you, and with a SD card you can be stocked with reading material for days.

Music games are pretty okay on mobile.

Cytus, Deemo, Voez (getting Switch release), and Jubeat if you can get it for ipad are all decent.

I'd fuck him, he looks like the average /cuteboys/ poster anyways

Jews and retards who has too much money.

Because they're made for women, who are generally content with simple puzzle treadmills and socializing. They usually eat vidya as snacks, the junkfood kind. We eat it as meals. Too bad the all the big restaurants in town keep serving shit on a plate and bribing the food critics.

huh, never thought about it that way.

You're close.

The primary consumer base of mobile games are amongst the most casual in the market, and as a result of that, the games chase this demographic, resulting in them generally being utter trash.

I got something cute for you.

(((jewels)))
