Tfw MMORPGs feel like a boring job

And i'm a NEET so i hate jobs.
How can retards call this "fun"?

No idea.

It isn't fun.
It was never fun.
It never will be fun.

People delude themselves to accept the flaws of anything if it gives them validation, especially if it makes them feel useful/wanted/needed in some capacity.

That, or simply having autism. That works too.

Thats the irony of it

All these beta neets living off their parents because their dont want to work, yet they play these mindless games that are worse than a
job

I especially always laugh about weeabos faggots playing their turn based grinding garbage that was meant to teach other languages to 5 year old japanese kids

It's pure skinner box mentality.

The game selectively rewards you at specific intervals to keep you addicted/playing and quite possibly paying which is the real goal of those games.

No one calls it fun, just like no one calls gambling fun. They're addicts. they just drool and keep clicking because activating the pleasure center of their brain is more entertaining than dealing with life.

Wait until you start observing the stupid shit you do instead of looking down on other people.

You're in for a ride.

an excerpt from a post comes to mind:

"That old XIX and XX century socialism is already obsolete. In this day and age we can do something that works out better. Industrialization has come to a point where a portion of the population really doesn't need to work at all to have all their needs satisfied; with better social regulations on reproduction and the forming of families, the quality of life of those persons increase, and through further industrialization even less have to work for all to live comfortably. However, since we're still using some bullshit ancient form of capitalism, those people who don't need to work anymore need to prove themselves they're worthy of surviving, thus bullshit jobs that don't increase productiveness in society are made, redundant competence is promoted with the goal of making a group starve while the other one hoards all the resources, the service industry increases and has people punishing themselves doing a job that won't help anybody. In the end the goal of capitalism is to have everyone working to prove they are worthy of being fed, NEETs just fall through the gaps and take advantage of their family or social reforms by the new democratic socialist governments.

There's a vicious cycle in which a society with slave mentality creates people with slave mentality that supports such society. Extremely few people are actually happy with their lives, it's extremely rare to find someone who actually loves their job, the rest of them do theirs because they had no other way, but even then most of those still hope that one day their turn comes to be the ones with power and able to fuck over those in the positions themselves are in this moment. Some people just can't see a world in which people are actually happy doing the things they like, they feel offended by it, after all they have justified their whole lives through the slave system and achieving mediocrity is meaningful to them."

if your mmo doesn't have world pvp, it's a boring theme park skinnerbox for normalfags

kinda wish it did…being too intelligent makes life sad

Because it makes retards feel like they are a seemingly important part of something and as such they are being constantly rewarded by shiny level up signs that briefly boost their endorphins and dopamine. Mostly failed normalfags and not so failed ones that use and see it as an extension of their regular everyday lifes or the ones that they wish they could have.

The gameplay is never fun, the "fun" is in progressing towards better gear or whatever.

that's sad.

Intelligent people know this already and trick their own rewards systems into giving them greater pleasure for doing things that reward them in reality.

Stop masturbating and get fit.

it makes no difference user

I guess I just liked feeling like I was dead for a while

you forgot your picture

...

i like it :)

at least it's sort of fun, plus socialization aspect, since in games retards ignore my messages and socialization attempts, and go on their way to grind like braindead idiots.

Stop playing shitty MMOs

You don't really know that for certain, you just feel that because of how life has played out for you.

Life is nothing but struggle. Everything you do is passed on through your dna. You are supposed to overcome.

But by all means be a huge faggot and have your weak ass bitch genes die out. It's pretty funny.

Did that upset you? It should have. You're supposed to get mad about your shit life and do something about it.

Ew, philosophy faggotry

is black desert and final fantasy bad mmorpgs?
coz that's what me, OP, played recently.

Get hit by a fucking truck.

it didn't, because your retarded DNA will die along with you.
you and your bastard offspring will soon be nothing but ashes never to be remembered.

And you know that for certain as well? You must be God. Or a fucking idiot with hubris the size of Jupiter

Ever try being humble and realizing you don't have it all fucking figured out? Ever thought the positions you've come to in the short span of your existence might be stupid bullshit? Challenge yourself, nigger.

yes

...

take it, is all yours ;)

Your right I should have called you a little bitch. My apologies.

i'm also not upset because you're simply cattle born to breed and bring profit to your dark masters. Your DNA will burn in the fire while i shall reign in heavens.

Not even the correct person Mr. Big thinker.

Same

Name a good MMO then. I'll wait.

a footpath becomes a town street, a road out of town, a valley, a forest, a desert, an ocean, an island, a cave, a dungeon, another town, another village, another city.
my first level up, my first hard-earned weapon, my first rare drop, my first pet, my first dungeon party, my first guild, my first class change, my first boss monster.
from rags to riches, from humble village to across the world, from wide-eyed nobody to server famous.
shit was fucking magical to adolescent me, and i'll never forget the day the private server was shut down without warning.
everything gone. everyone gone. my real life never felt more painfully real, and my escape.exe never felt more like a dream that never really happened.
i tried playing another server, another mmorpg, but it wasn't the same.
as for your question, op, perhaps the reason you can't play mmorpgs is the same reason we're neets.
we're afraid to commit.
that or you missed the golden age of mmorpgs and they're as shit now as Holla Forums says

Pso2

Chore-like games with low mental strain, such as MMOs or ARPGs, are ONLY good for when you're listening to audiobooks or going through music albums.

I can't say I feel exactly the same. But playing Everquest back in 1999 was a lot like this for me. It was my first MMORPG. It was an amazing experience that has never been replicated in another MMORPG. I guess it really was just a one time thing. I played it until 2003 then moved on.

Yeah man getting loads of people together and killing a big monster is not fun, it's boring and gay as fuck.

Truth. I basically only stuck with WoW as long as I did because there aren't many games where I can just shut the audio off and listen to a podcast or something while I play. (plus it helps that my guild was paying my sub for a while) When my favourite podcast ended, I stopped playing. Still haven't found another game where I can just zone out and listen to other stuff.

>at least it's sort of fun
>>>/bog/

Literally no difference between the two.

I have job and I love jobs, so I play mmos almost religiously.
It's fun.

Daily reminder nihilism is exactly the middle point between being a complete retard normalfag and true enlightenment which you'll never reach until you realize how fucking stupid nihilism is

Jenny won dudeit's time to stopyou need to get over it already :'^)

Yearly reminder that "fun" is an empty word, totally meaningless. It's a buzzword.

Interesting… I know your post is a meme, but would you consider similar words such as "amusement" or "mirth" to be buzzwords or not, and why?

If you have friends, irl or online to play with it can be fun. Its the same way ppl enjoy shit like dota, cs and such.
So stop being a usless neet, get an education, a job, start working out and get a hobby other then vidya.

If you're talking video games then yes they are buzzwords, same way talking about being able to feel the care devs put into a game has no meaning. What people really mean is effort in attention to detail when it comes to designing aspects of the game. A game is "fun" when the game is mechanically sound and proficient in it's delivery of the genre. Here's a recent example; NieR:Automata. Heaps of people are falling head over heels for it even though it has flaws in many areas. It excels however in the animation and combat with clear attention to detail in that area of presentation. There are multiple animations for jump arcs along with smooth transitions between states such as dodges and attacks. The feedback from combat had a priority too with a keen eye for the right amounts of startup, hit stun, and freezeframes for connecting attacks, along with flashes and sparks to emphasise connecting (and severe) strikes. This all adds up to give the right impression of power in those attacks. Saying the game was fun is the same as saying nothing.

Ok, so what you're implying is: when people give their opinions on games, you always want them to go into full detail about why they enjoyed the game, rather than just saying they enjoyed it? Seems kinda silly to me, I think there is a time for both. If I asked someone why they enjoyed the game and they just said "because it's fun!" then ya I would be pretty annoyed, but in cases like OP, how would you replace the word "fun" where he used it? The English language is complex enough that some words can hold multiple meanings based on context, so to hold up a word and say "this word has no meaning" is just retarded. Like right there, the word "retarded" has lost it's meaning to a lot of people, but in my context, I'm using it in a sort of literal sense, where the word is normally defined as "slow" and is used as a medical term for people who are "slow" mentally, and relating that to the proposed idea.

If someone is giving their opinion on a game then yes I would definitely like them to explain themselves otherwise what's the point of expressing it. There's no value at any point in a person, especially on an anonymous imageboard, saying "This game is fun" because what what fun about it? They didn't give any insight into why they were enjoying themselves. No one here has any inherent value in their views so they need to explain themselves when they do.
The OP didn't need to say fun; the entire line could've been omitted honestly. He could've said the same if not slightly more by saying "how do people still play MMOs?"

So you're saying the game is fun.

I'm behind you on people needing to express WHY something is fun when opinions are asked, I think I made that clear in my last post, but as I also said, words can be used in many ways and hold many meanings, espicially words involved with emotions, such as fun. "What makes this game FUN?" "What is the thing you find most FUN about this game?" "What do you do in this game to make it FUN". Try to take those sentences and replace the word without either using a synonym, finding a longer way to say fun, changing the meaning (I.E. the first sentance just saying "Why should I play this game?"), or taking up a whole paragraph to get across the idea that could have been gotten from "fun". In this case, I'll just say the game in question is NeiR:Automata, since you seem to be familiar with it.

Whoa, projection levels are off the charts.

...

It's 2017, whatever you're playing almost certainly isn't one.

Different strokes for different folks, just because you don't like a game doesn't mean it shouldn't exist.

Still one rung higher. Deal w/ it.

That's because you're playing a genre long after it was stillborn; most MMOs are 'experiences' where you play alone together that rely on looped content and conditioned playtime like a virtual stamp card for the lowest common denominator instead of virtual worlds based around emergent gameplay thriving on competition and cooperation.

it is when the combat is fucking shit like in every mmo

Are there any recent~ish mmos that don't have hard lock on your character's class/weapon? Something like FF14 or PSO2?
So you know I could swap classes without changing character.

The "content tredmill" of endgame bosses is sill a valid format. I get that it's very different than your autistic playground, but getting together with a team and practicing together to overcome great challenges and move forward together to even greater ones is hugely satisfying.

is that an in-game screenshot from something?
is that PSO2?

Yes.
Yes.

100% this, "selling your services" is so fucking cancerous shit

It can be a valid format, individual games using the format could be amazing games within the context of the format. That does not detract from them being a significant departure from classical MMOs that were just immensely more complex and varied within themselves. Essentially all of the major sandbox MMOs still had content treadmills and cooperative group content to challenge you, but also allowed for numerous other styles of play that made them a greater whole than the subsubgenre of 'themepark raidshit' could hope to rise to without emulating them.
