people have already, in a way, done this for years.
back when i actually played the fucking game, there were a few of these "required" mods. like, mod loaders and optimization mods, that pretty much everyone had. and those fuckers had their own websites set up, with ads all over the place. so they've been making money off of it.
this is fucking dumb, however. not only does a person actually have to specifically go out and give shekels, these kikes are also taking half of them.
sure, you can argue that there's mods that deserve money, mods that add more shit than there is in the game, but any creator that actually signs up for this is surrendering their "career" forever.

30% is standard for shit like e-books, and normally what valve takes on steam. The biggest scandal of the paid mods thing was that they took 75% or something. So here microsoft is taking advantage of that to set a "middle ground". Standard corporate fuckery really. Notice how quick they are to say "b-b-but our creators like it" like it excuses anything.

It's already the precedent, there are kids who have grown up with such shitty practices, who are like 20 now, I know I'm sort of friends with one. It's odd how Minecraft has become demonized as the most retarded, anti-intellectual game of all time when much of it revolves around building structures and machines (which can get so complicated that only the builder would be able to decipher what anything does).

It has become demonized like that because it's mostly children with mental issues playing it right now. It's true that you can do interesting things in the game but most players prefer playing survival and then putting a recording of it on jewtube.

This. It's like telling a shitty joke to a preteen and being surprised they laugh at it as if it's new. Minecraft isn't a success for what it is but because of the kind of person it attracts.

They'd be retarded not to expect that. These children will see their 30 year old memespouting faggot video gamer streamer of choice who was given the paid mods for free as part of collusion with the creator playing them and making retarded noises and facial expressions and they'll go out and buy the mod in order to emulate them and then the niggers pocket the money and do it again into perpetuity as vidya bleeds out on the ground. The Microsofts of the world will enable this to the best of their ability, and use their influence to shape all platforms into the most efficient purveyors of this absolute trash, like Youtube has been shaped already for past scams.

The thing is, where Bethesda and Steam failed, Microsoft can win and get back all the money they wasted to get the game. And much more.

First, it's an easy thing to notice that Microsoft is porting all his attention to the Pocket edition, as they have more control on this and on the money gained through this. They have paid skins, they have paid servers, they have paid maps, but they didn't had paid mods, and mods are still the strength of the PC version, so I expect them to pull this move in order to have mod creators going on the Pocket version, leaving the PC version in the process, and then reducing enough the number of PC players to kill the PC version by making an update that forces PC version to become the Pocket version (which is already the case with the W10 version), which becomes a place where they monetize everything.

Second, unlike Steam and Bethesda games where the middle age is around 18-25 years old, the age of entry on Minecraft is very low, thanks to things like the cancerous Youtube community and Minecraft Education edition pushing young players to go in, making the middle age around 10-18 years old. An age where you don't get the full value of the money, and where it is way easy to tempt you with packs of skins "for just a dollar", or the map their favorite Youtube cancer provider plays "for just five dollars".

Last, but not least, their revenue managing is a complete lie. They said they were offering ~50% of the money spent of their maps/skins/mods/mini-games to the creators, but that comes after the host takes its part (and if the Pocket edition is played on an Apple tablet/phone, that's an hefty 30 percent) and after the tax is deduced (which can go up to another 20 percent). Do the math, but the result is more around 20-25% than the fabled 50%.
