Any Anons want to start a company?

Tired of seeing game companies ruin great ideas? How about wanting to get in on the video games industry but can't find an opportunity? How about joining me on a video game quest?

I'm not going to say who I am since I value not doxing myself. I am, however, interested in finding out if there are any Anons who want to help me start up an indie game company. I've already largely figured out the concepts for a security guard game and a game inspired by the Famicom Wars series. Both games will use 2D graphics. I would be in charge of scenarios, story, and copywriting (not copyrighting). I can't give too many details at the moment for security reasons. Right now I'm only scouting to see if there's anyone here who wants to work with me. Nothing is guaranteed and right now I'm trying to figure out where to find people who would be interested in this sort of thing. If you would join the video game quest, give a post here about what you can do, what you want to do, your overall financial situation (no specifics please), and whether or not you're in San Diego County. If you're not interested, also feel free to post. Sorry for not giving much more information. I'm only testing the waters at the moment. If I get enough positive feedback, I might make the next step using Holla Forums Holla Forums talent.

tl;dr looking for fags who may be interested in starting a new indie dev studio with me

I'll start with our logo.

I already have an idea of what I want to call the company and what the logo would be. I would love to see proofs that people can do what they claim to do.

All things aside, this sounds neat and I wish you luck in finding interested people, user.

good luck, OP

Nigger if you want to start a company we need to know who yiu are

I'm not from SDC, but I'm about 100 miles away from you. I can write, direct and design (to a very limited extent)

What do.

Every single time.

...

I remember seeing this in halfchan. You can make a fun creative game WHILE having it be marketable, most "creative" and "artistic" games are hipster shit anyways.

See; Night in the Woods, Life is Strange, and a fuckload of others I don't care about.

Either you do;
1. Cater to People
2. Make it fun

That's it.

Heck yes, I would be up for it even though that would actually go against imageboard culture. But then again, nearly all things creatively kinda HAVE to be, like it or not, like with Katawa Shoujo.

What I can do: some programming, some digital art. Nothing amazing however, and I'm out of practice and low on resources for the moment.

Connections: know somebody who works on Overwatch for his day job. Bleh, yes, but it's art only. Don't know if he can contract on the side yet however.

What I want to do: some art, probably. I would also like to help out with coding if possible; I've been decompiling some flash games in my spare time to figure out proper game coding.

I've also wanted to do something regarding procedural story. No, none of the roguelike shit, but rather stuff like diceroll stat checking to replicate the roleplay and improvisational storytelling in actual DnD sessions, like NPCs making decisions based on stats and you being able to subtly influence them through interaction. It bugs me that we've gotten few, if any, applications of this concept.

Financial situation: pretty much the usual minimum wage to pay the rent with the extra saved up to fund development of my portfolio. First expense: a drawing tablet.

Whether or not I'm in SDC: No. I do have an IRL friend who's in the area who's also helped out with the Fire Emblem: Fates fan translation. I've also lived in North Commiefornia.

kek, great recruitment thread OP

Put money where your mouth is and make one instead of circle jerking around ideas.

Sure thing OP let me just get my fucking wallet out and
Ew, never mind
Move away from here while you still can, the weather isn't worth it

ITT: A jew who wants to find gullible goys to do all the actual work while he handles (((production))) and (((copyright)))

This. Earthquake by august.
If you go to anywhere in east Asia, SK, JP, Taiwan would be preferable - I will fund the whole thing out of pocket

San Diego fag here.Bay Park

If I hadn't realized that I was crap at most of the fields relating to video game development and went into economics instead, I'd maybe hit you up.

If you manage to get off the ground and put out something good, i'll probably swing by your (((office))) and leave some beers or something.

You will hook nobody here, ideaguy.

Ideaguys sure love starting projects and recruiting other people to do the actual work.

...

Oh jesus fucking christ you're basically just saying "I'm an ideas guy make my stuff for me and I'll own it all. Please let me piggy back on your talent so I can own my profitable studio."

What a fucking asshole you seem to be.

What a fucking embarrassment this entire post is.

...

...

...

Ideas are fucking shit OP. The only thing that's worth anything is the perseverance and passion that goes into the project. If you're going to be an Idea's Guy you're going to have to have the business expertise and capital that will grant you the respect for anybody to even entertain you ideas. If you don't even have that any attempt at positioning yourself as the de facto leader of a bonafide game's studio is laughable.

That being said, it would be neat to see the talent of Holla Forums band together and create video games based on a combined vision.

People like Hideo Kojima are exceptions to the rule. If you find yourself in short supply of Ideas Guys you can quickly replenish your stock at your nearest Welfare line.

The problem is that everyone on Holla Forums is the ideas guy. People who have both skills and time already very likely already using them for something that likely to not fall apart after someone blows on it, i.e. 99.9% of threads like this.

Sorry, I meant "unlike 99.9% of threads like this."

You can't assemble your team here. Look up your contacts and call your friends who work in IT related jobs or have an IT related background. Or just take a game design college major. It ain't hard if you're not lazy and/or autistic.

Kojimer is a lucky hack. I find all his games to be unenjoyable mess, they're all over the place. I don't know the appeal of this faggot. IMO, he's the Japanese Emil Pagliarulo, unironically.

Look at Carmack and Romero. They always had shitty ideas but were able to execute them successfully due to their technical competence. Ideas are worthless when you're clueless.

Kojima is fairly decent at cinematography, which makes him more than just an ideas guy. He still is one but he does actually get involved in more than just giving suggestions.

This.
Nobody is going to work for free and they most certainly wouldn't want to be associated with a failed product as happens with every single fucking thing that comes out of Kickstarter regardless of how well it is funded.

What a coincidence. I also have ideas for games and only need the help of talented coders and artists to make it a reality. We're like brothers, OP.

His cinematography is terrible. Ass shots, terrible focal length, terrible shot placement, terrible camera movement, soulless montage, etc. Compare that to actual competent directors who use unique stylistic shots and lens effects such as Alexander Sokurov. Kojima is just an uninspired amateur. Even obscure cinematographers such as Sergio Salvati are better than him.

...

...

Tried it before and it didn't work. Became a drama shithole.

Don't believe Val's lies.

So you're an idea guy who's looking for others to do the heavy lifting for him.

Ideas are a dime a dozen, OP.

For example, you formulate the idea and the programmers, artists and musicians get to work, what do you do then? "Oversee" the whole thing?

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're serious, what else can you offer to the table aside from writing the story?
If this was a game that is driven primarily by story, like a VN, than fine, but you provided a very vague description for an action game.

Being exclusively a "writer" only really works in very big teams that are making cinematic (if you can overlook the buzzwordiness of it) stories.
Never did a musician, programmer and artist come together with the intention to make vidya and say "if only there was SOMEONE to write the story!"
In small, indie teams a writer is usually a secondary role taken up by one of the three I mentioned above.

Don't mistake this post to be 'ideas are stupid', you need an idea and it's a huge bonus if it's interesting, unique and/or original, but ideas don't make games.

No.

Sounds cool, count me in.
I don't have money, training or talent so I want to be the idea guy who decides what the game will be like.
Also can we be a communist developer?
Thanks.

i just finished talking to op through email he wants the main character to be a transgender

Holla Forums has better OC's and is a bit less cancerous than Holla Forums tbh. Holla Forums and /christian/ are still the supreme boards though.

It's self-righteous to say that the musician, programmer and artist are so bankrupt of ideas they need some other guy to come and spit some out. The fucking nerve of someone to come about and tell these people their ideas are worthless and you're the clever one.

I call dibs on Jr. Vice President of Bikeshedding.

I can come up with ideas myself thanks.

ey Holla Forums, I'm going to 7-Eleven. Do ya need anything?

It's better to start alone by yourself if you have no experience.

The problem with ideas guys is that most people make shit ideas guys.
You should at the very least be an artist in some sense be it writing.
Most people think their ideas are great, when they are in fact, shit.

tl:dr; idea guys can be a good thing, but if their ideas are actually original and are integral for everything to come together.

The issues with idea guys isn't that your ideas are bad, it's the fact that you can't communicate it well to other members in your team.

It's not your fault, it's just that folks are bound to interpret your words differently. If I say "light sword" it could mean "lightsaber" to one, "weightless sword" to another, or "handheld flashlight". You'll have a easier time if you code, do music, or art. You don't have to be a master, just show what you mean visually.

...

I've actually been working and saving up to start up a company/office space of my own, but depending how this goes, I'm in I could always still save up for the future anyway.

This most likely won't happen, but it would be great to have a non-PC company of any kind. Not necessarily showing in our projects, but certainly within the work place. Additionally, without any publishers breathing down our necks we would have more creative freedom.

kys.

Guanrenteed replies

Sure, let's make a video game company. Just send me some shekels and i'll take care of the paperwork.

You're right, although they're becoming less viable now. It seems all the new low budget studios are formed by people who where in the industry for years already.

i want to start a company, make promises, get kickstarter funding and various other funds from fans, pre orders, etc. then as the due date for the product approaches i'd sell my shares in the company at maximum value, then leave the company on launch and laugh as it crashes and burns while millions of paying "customers" either dont get a product, or get a piece of shit.

is that right? i find that hard to believe.

Holla Forums has discount ellen page drawing comics for them. Holla Forums has jackshit.

...

I presume it will just end up being some lego blocks.

I can't code for shit and I forget what I learn within 10 minutes of losing attention.
I can draw but it's shit because I get easily distracted.
I could edit and make videos but for some reason I'm burned out.
I just want to own a cafe or a private club where anons can go after work and get comfy

Captcha: ERP qfz

All you need to create an indie game company is an artist and a programmer, maybe a musician if you actually want a high-quality ost but most people don't care about that stuff. Idea guys are fucking useless because even a game with a generic "hero fights evil monster king" story may seem like a masterpiece if the gameplay is good enough. At least try to teach yourself some basic programming skills first, it isn't as hard as most people think it is.

Get me some doritos and mountain dew.

Get me some hotpockets

Better have a shitload of money if you want to start a company, m8.

will the cafe have public use girls in the bathrooms? that's the only reason i could justify to leave my house to be comfy.

If I lived in Vegas I could do that.

So you're considering only attention-whoring tripfags? Well sure, Holla Forums certainly does have more then

The only time an idea goy deserves something else than a rope, is when they come with a full design document containing core mechanics, plot outline, basic lore and (at least) sketches of visualisation.

generally OC doesn't matter if the people behind it are generally shit and have no sense of humor whatsoever.

has Holla Forums ever made an oc that isn't derivative of Holla Forumss oc or from a literal tumblrite?

They make commiecat, but that just gets turned into Holla Forumsporn and the creator gets #triggered then stop producing more pictures until she calms down.

but commiecat is from a tumblr nigger its not there idea?

the maker of commiecatâ„¢ is a tumblrite. Holla Forums can't make anything original

Well they have Stirner but that's just something they took from /lit/

Oh, not commiecat, I meant the tripfag who draws catgirls and posts them on the board then shills """her""" patreon and openly has Holla Forums links on their twitter like a good goy.

stirner was hardly a leftist though.

Giraffes probably give good throat fucks.

Hence the "something the took from /lit/"

I'd take politicalideologycatgirls over malaysian mike.

Condoms and the ladyboy skank who hangs around the back.

...

Wanna hook up?

I'm a 3d artist and could provide pre rendered assets for a game with ease, but if Op can't program or can't supply a dedicated programmer then I don't really see the value in this, I've been learning Unity myself aswell.

Also my living situation is easy, my grandpa died and so I moved into his house, my living expenses are $75 a week, and that's power, internet and food. and no I don't live in the US.
