Have you been watching Patton Oswalt flip his shit lately? He hated Sanders and truly believes his life is over. It's pathetic.
You've probably noticed from the 2 months straight of tantrums, the comedy industry has been taken over by big money Democrats. Socialists/Left-thinkers are being purged from the entertainment industry and Hollywood. And the comedy community is no exception.
Comedy used to be about fighting authority. Instead, the alt-comedy boom has created an army of Porky's sycophants. These comedians worship big business and neoliberal politics and are making insane amounts of money.
Comedians who have left-of-center views today simply do not get booked. You will not find a Richard Pryor or a George Carlin today. You can find an army of "privilege checker" idpol loons like Cameron Esposito (who don't hate racism, just white men) and Opie-And-Anthony Trumpers like Jim Norton, who are transforming into xenophobes.
I honestly haven't paid any attention to this asshole ever since he lapped up the anti-Gamergate lies so uncritically.
Jaxon Martinez
Porky's reaction to Gamergate turned countless young Sanders supporting autist teenagers into Pepe spewing Trump supporters. Never forgive those idiots.
Asher Morgan
Watching Louis C.K. sell out was the most depressing of all.
Joseph King
Really makes you think
Christopher Roberts
Well it turned me into a Marxist so I can't be too mad.
Ethan Sanchez
Am in entertainment industry and have lost work for my Sanders support. Los Angeles really is beyond up Hillary's ass. The business has all but collapsed over last two months as celebs have become apoplectic.
Ian Bell
Looks like it's now up to economists to pick up the slack.
Nathan Miller
Honestly it's a step up from becoming a braindead establishment loving zombie like Patton Oswalt and most Clinton supporter. They've literally turned themselves into the CIA's front line of cultural shock troops that's how low they've gone.
Jordan Gutierrez
Good. Now go work with people that are actually doing interesting stuff. Is James Benning still making films? Go work with him
Mason Hall
This is now a Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn thread.
If you want there to be "left wing comedy" (what ever that means) get on stage and do it. You can go up and bomb and be a better person. And if you do watch the link it is a pretty good discussion of money controlling comedy.
Luis Ward
I used to do plenty of standup. They don't want true left-wing views at comedy shows in LA.
Obama worship only, please. Make sure to complain about Straight White Males. It's really become a sewer.
Owen Martinez
Lewis Black is still cool… Right?
Sebastian Fisher
That said, the NYC scene is fucking dope. They still keep it real there. As much as they can.
Connor Lee
One of the greatest comedians of all time. I'm glad he's still around.
Angel Turner
watch that link (Which Is Giraldo Oneal Black and Irrea) and this one and I have a bunch more. youtu.be/xsEEckCDuio
Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn called out what you guys are talking about back then. All TV is out of LA and most movies.
But you should keep at it. They might like it somewhere. Telling people things they don't want to hear can be very funny.
Dylan Kelly
Jimmy's standup act is pretty decent. We need more of him.
Austin Cooper
The entertainment industry has always been about playing ball or keeping in line and being blacklisted by a powerful executive with connections still happens to this day. However, should the talent have a lot of talent, they can still be successful locally and through their own promotion and network of friends and useful hangers-on. The gatekeeping in all forms of media is nearly over and I suppose gamergate was the opening salvo.
Elijah Taylor
Never thought his standup was very good. His show, on the other hand, one of the best on youtube.
Andrew Lewis
He has way too much dead air sometimes on his show.
Jose Thompson
He was calling for people to hoard food in response to trump the absolute kulak
Grayson Wright
Patrice is one of the greatest comedians of all time. I met him a couple of times as an assistant on Paul Provenza's Green Room on Showtime years back. He called me "young soldier."
RIP to the legend.
Angel Rodriguez
Hey didn't that guy used to work below the queensboro bridge? I always used to hear him talking about making enough money to get a ticket to brazil and "eat a mouth full of pennies burrito." what ever that means. they don't even have burritos in brazil.
That's awesome man. there is a lot of good Patrice on Tough Crowd. and most of tough crowd is on youtube. If you like him check it out. There is some really great stuff with Patrice and Pat Cooper. youtu.be/I_gQttcLY18 I really wish Patrice and Greg could have lived longer.
Hudson Mitchell

Let's use youtube.

Hey JDB - you picked up any shit work doing ads or anything lately? How's Faraci doing these days?
Is the Hillary circlejerk in Hollywood just purely down to her being woke on identity shit or is there some finance industry links there too?
Andy Kindler Kumail Nanjiani Stephen Colbert Andy Richter (His wife too) Pretty much every Late Night TV writer. Sarah Silverman
All of these comics have broken my hearts.
And then there's Frank Conniff, who has never been funny.
Logan Campbell

Jaxson Fisher
I guess I'm pretty obvious.
I'm doing a voice on an animated Marvel show for a few episodes. That's kept me afloat. I'm under an NDA so I can't say what character, but it's a pretty fun/goofy one.
My short gay terrorist romcom Horseshoe Theory premieres at Slamdance next week up in Park City, Utah. (Arthur Chu has a documentary there too. Might crash it.)
Our website is up: horseshoetheory.org/ (No I don't think Horseshoe Theory is real, at least in terms of left-right politics.)
I'm hoping to use the festival to get more writing/directing work. The pilots I sold haven't gotten made, so it's back to the grind. I probably need new agents. Frankly, I need to get paid this year as my 5 year no-day-job streak is beginning to slow down.
Thomas Richardson
Maron was on the show some as a guest and was the executive producer. I think. youtu.be/I_gQttcLY18
and I met Patton Oswalt once and he was super nice.
Jose Butler
Look, these guys, at least right now, are the "new order."
My favorite comedians are dead. There will never be anyone like Patrice O'Neal, Greg Giraldo, Phyliss Diller, Carlin, Pryor, Lewis Black, ever again.
I'm stuck in LA with the hipster comics. The 'mainstream" scene here is all but dead and the alt-scene has replaced it. I've thought about going back to NYC and getting into standup there, but I'm much more interested in directing now.
James Baker
It's financial. My old agent at CAA, Michael Kives, was a DNC bundler exposed by Assange for sending threatening emails to Tulsi Gabbard and other members of Congress who were considering Bernie. I got banned from Twitter for posting the leaked email and encouraging my fans to call his office.
He's also a piece of shit who signs actresses to fuck them. Good riddance.
Logan Murphy
Black's alive, but you know what I mean.

It may seem quaint and lame now, but what Colbert did at the WHCD 10 years ago was pretty extraordinary.
Improv and Sketch is now corporate shit (mainly due to the schools attached to all of the theaters and the industry pipeline that gets promised to students), but for a few years there was some pretty amazing stuff happening in that scene.
Mr.Show was doing crazy shit in the 90s. David Cross may be lame as fuck now but he used to be amazing.
I've always like the NYC comics better, but I'm an LA local, so I'm stuck with my surroundings.
East Coast comics I like: Kevin Barnett, Lucas Bros, Nick Mullen, Mookie Thompson, Lewis Black, Dave Attell, Dave Chappelle, the Chapo gang, (Will or Felix could probably do standup)
Ryan Bailey
I wonder if he'll ever do a stand up bit where he talks about prickly cactus still being a mod on leftypol
Tyler Richardson
What's the deal with B-minus-tier comedian turds (Louis CK, Joe Rogan, John Oliver, SNL alums and now this faggot) who were kinda not-unfunny sometimes about a decade ago that I only remember for one or two random memetic comedy bits, thinking anybody gives half a fuck what they think about politics and how offended they are that somebody disagrees with them? From a business sense, it's unwise for the same reasons Chick-fil-Lay or Oreos having an opinion on gay marriage is: it pushes away potential consumers for no good reason. I really don't fucking get it.
Colton Roberts
That actually looks pretty good.
Camden Peterson
Yes, it's almost all fake wokeness and quota systems rather than an examination of how our industry's business models are unsustainable.
A bunch of the women comedians got into a group and started randomly accusing male comedians of harassment and occasionally rape. This caused a panic, and UCB, one of the biggest schools/cults in the LA comedy, began doing investigations of students, which is absurd considering they're a for-profit school and incapable of this kind of thing.
It snowballed into "too many white men." "too many white women" "not enough disabled transgender latinas" and blahblahblah, without any regard for how the profit motive of our industry exacerbates racism.
I remember going to a show a couple of months ago, and watched three comics in a row each do a set on white muh privilege. All of them were white. Two of them were men. It was so cringey. Nobody in the (mostly white) audience laughed.
I try to explain that these attitudes are creating fascists, but they don't genuinely don't get it.
Jack Clark
Only because you're the only poster who talks about Hollywood like they've actually worked there so you stand out a bit. It's not a bad thing.
And OH MAN, an Arthur Chu doco sounds fucking tits. I hope it's about himself and he shows the audience how to mindkill yourself.
Brandon Rogers
I hope he does a joke about anfem cunt derailing threads.
Jayden James
ugh typo city. Sorry. Under influences.
I genuinely don't get it either. It turns out wealthy celebrities calling their fans "racist/sexist pieces of shit" doesn't work as a business model. But the alternative is saying "We get paid too much at the expense of the rest of our industry" and you'll never see that.
Bentley Lewis
Hi Prickly :3
Jeremiah Reyes
I used to think he was the heart of the Jimmy Dore show, but without him and his writing it got 100% better. Maybe Jimmy needed the training wheels off to really start moving.
Jonathan Young
Colbert's entire act was the false dichotomy of "REPUBLICANS ARE STUPID AND RETARDED UNLIKE OBAMA LOL"
Lincoln Edwards
gag
Nicholas Lee
Colbert was doing comedy before Obama was the President.
Christopher Adams
Oh god, wtf is that?
Landon Peterson
He's not wrong. Accelerationism has only ever resulted in fascism. Trump needs to be brought down.
Ryder Moore
Trump will be taken down. But it will be by collective action, not snarky sitcom millionaires who enable Charlie Sheen's 10 year hookerfest.
Ayden Cruz
Being upset at the political values of celebrities seems weird, I think that kind of mentality is what makes fuckwits on tumblr debate the revolutionary merits of Beyoné's Lemonade.
Dylan Gonzalez
Shit I wasn't really following the story at the time. That is fucked up.
I think this is definitely part of the broader problem with "cultural influencers" or whatever you want to call them. They are always preening themselves over the positive effect they think they're having on culture, but it seems like the feedback they get is only from sycophants and people just like them because it's such a closed, insulated system. They don't have to deal with the fact that at least part of their effect is in reinvigorating a genuinely worrying strain of reactionary "white identity" politics that us working class stiffs then have to actually deal with in our lives.
And, of course, they can't direct any influence to attacking the basic social and economic systems because they are sucking at the teat with their huge stock portfolios.
Xavier Davis
Exactly, I've tried to explain to many a liberal to try to put themselves in the shoes of a 17 year old white kid from Wisconsin. You probably have one or two friends that are black, gay, hispanic, Muslim, Jewish etc. Everyone else is cornbread. And suffering.
So you come home from a day of working at the Pizza Hut, grab the remote from the hand of your disabled, opioided-out Mom, and turn on MTV to watch a Beavis and Butthead rerun.
Instead, you get garbage corporate identity politics telling you that you are a bad person and everything wrong in the world is your fault.
Meanwhile, the alt-right and the fascists are screaming "Don't listen to them. Join us! We love you?"
Which side do you think they're gonna pick? It's basic survival tactics.
Grayson Taylor
I remember seeing Colbert getting bullied on MSNBC and thought it was insane. He wasn't even a guest. They were playing clips from some private site he runs and sternly frowning and lecturing him on his wrong thinking. I don't really dislike Colbert because he's an explicitly political comedian and its thrown him into a den of psychos that have Real Power.
Noah Sanders
I mean to say I still like him.
Ryder Cook
thanks!!! :)
Isaiah Bennett
The WHCD was a remarkable act of political trolling.
Jason Peterson
FIXING THIS
Owen Taylor
His live show was awesome I actually think he was way funnier in that than in either his straight stand-up or studio show
Zachary Jones
Irrelevant, before Obama it was still "LOL BUSH IS STUPID REPS ARE STUPID" while always presenting Democrats as the rational alternative. Pretending he's ever been anything but a shill for the elites isn't fooling anybody.
Robert Wilson
(checked)
shit, what happened?
Nathan Nguyen
Richter and his wife have an absolutely batshit insane Twitter account.
Ferrell, along with Amy Schumer, made a video threatening voters the day before the election. It was very strange.
Zachary White
Most liberal Hollywood comedians are garbage. George Carlin, Bill Hick's will be dead for thousands of years and all of eternity, and still be funnier than Bill Maher, John Oliver or Louis CK.
Even Milton Berle was a better comedian than the boring, 5th rate "comedians" that make up Hollywood. The Friars Roast Club is something that will never happen.
Frankie Boyle is alright, in terms of a leftist comedian.
James Carter
Comedy began to suck more when liberals started considering Jews "lame" and "white." Coincidence?
Noah James
Frankie would be god tier of he were just slightly less idpol
Nathan Rodriguez
Louie's early routines were basically full of nigger, rape, cunts, etc. I think he basically just just doing what's safe and profitable right now. Though his pedophile routine was pretty dangerous.
Robert Cooper
Louis CK? the guy who likes to corner women and make them watch him while he jerks off? I mean there is just too much evidence
Naw he was an entryist, a Clinton supporter who wanted to "show that he gets it."
He even RTd a couple of my pro-Bernie posts before calling me a "chinless shit pudding" and deleting everything when I said I wouldn't vote for HIlldawg.
Parker Collins

Caleb Morgan
Are you triggered?
Liam Taylor
That guy? He and Roiland had a Walt Disney moment, when his writers went on a strike, because their job didn't cover health care.
They caved in to their demands but blacklisted everyone which was basically the entire writing staff. They kicked them out and replaced them with Harmon's idpol circle.
Season 3 may come with a radical shift as a result. And not because of >muh diversity as most people will definitely claim, but because of the anti-union purge that took place.

First of all that was Michael Richards, and he apologized. Secondly, comedians tend to always be anti PC and pro free expression for fairly obvious reasons. The tide has turned in your shitty American pop cultural sewer somewhat now from what I've gathered, but it was getting pretty ridiculous, and frankly, you people are idiots.
Chase Price
The only one who can take down Trump is a Sanderist, because the liberal crybabies still can't get their shit together. As a matter of fact they did so in California just recently.
But there a hook you know. After Sanders Corbynises the Democratic party, the people who call Trump a sexist racist homophobe could end up being Trumps fiercest supporters in 4 years.
Mason Bennett
What makes you think they'll stop being totally ineffectual?
Aaron Baker
Voted for neocon warmonger. Lost. Fucking idiot.
Jordan Stewart
George Carlin wasn't really that based tbh. His rhetoric was so vauge you could pretty much read what you wanted into.
Elijah Bell

Never realized how much Oswalt looks like an archetypal Porky.

Whatever one's opinion or lies on GaymerGate are or were, it was and always will be shit.

Nobody cares about GamerGate in the real world. NOBODY. Stop talking about it, it makes us look pathetic.

Season 2 couldn't touch the first season anyway. I think the magic is already gone.
But your confusion is understandable, since we can't go a single goddamn day without a story in the format of:
Ayden Bailey
Did you write "hated" instead of "backed" or something? I'm confused.
Fucking totally. People like Burr and Maron are gradually turning into idiots on their own, but Louis CK took a 180 degree turn in like two years. That "Hillary needs to be elected bc she's a mom" is the sort of thing he'd mock on O&A 8 years ago.
Evan Stewart
Wokeness is actually worse than liberalism, which has a consistent philosophy and isn't thinly veiled classist signalling
Aiden King
I can't stand Boyle. He's such a hypocritical blowhard and idpol to boot. If it wasn't for the accent no one would mistake him for a leftie.
Dylan Jones
classist? how pray tell
Dominic Peterson
wew
Is there such a thing as a socialist comedian? Has there ever been?
Chase Brooks
What happened with Scott Auckerman please tell me
Benjamin Jackson
bretty hyped for this movie
Gabriel Hughes
Lewis Black and Stewart Lee are self-proclaimed socialists. Also you're a fucking pleb
Gabriel Allen
so is bernie
Nicholas Morris
They're comedians. Their jobs are to make people laugh. You people who are so "disappointed" with these comedians are hilarious. Aren't you the ones imbuing their opinions with power? If they do hold weight, either convince them of your own beliefs through education or let them alone in their bourgeois class bubble.
Gavin Myers
Political comedy fucking sucks, no matter the politics.
You see guys like Eddie Murphy, they were great because they talked about being black, but they also talked about dumb shit like his mom making him really shitty burgers
As for alt comedy, i have to go with some wisdom from the great Norm Macdonald
"Being self aware you suck isnt funny, telling jokes is"
The media only promotes neoliberlism, you see this in every form of media, any actual leftists or rightwingers are shun.
Ryder Howard
is lee a socialist? he refers to himself as a "guardian reading liberal" (or something like that) a lot, but maybe he's just being self-deprecating.
he's my favorite comedian either way.
Charles Sanchez
Doug Stanhope is the only hope, and he's not even really a leftist, just absolutely anti-authoritarian. He's one of the few stand-up comedians who I've never got burnt out on.
Cooper Thompson
Fuck that guy.
Aiden Lewis
Am I a fucking pleb for not watching stand up?
Is this some higher tiers shitposting?
Kayden Watson
Probably.
Eli Russell
Is it weird that blatantly mad Holla Forumsyps like that make me smile?
Luke Bailey
Be with your wife, Patton.
Adam Evans
Low blow. I don't really care about Patton Oswalt's political views. He was funny, years ago. Getting older and more settled seems to have finished that, though.
Eli Cox
no, stand up is awful
Ayden Reyes
...
Thomas Brooks
Good god no. He's an unironic Reason subscriber. pretty funny tho
